Go to "file" to "Mpeg tools"then to merge and cut" here is were you can edit, load your file in and click "edit" and it is pretty self explanitory from there...It should take maybe 10 minutes, if everything goes right....

DeLpHoNiC  2002-08-11 06:07:55 ( ID:y5pfqfnqb1k )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thx a lot dude, really appreciate it. im trying to get to knwo this app. Kicks ass. Just trying to improve the quality of my movies. The shit is kind of hard. Got some templates but have to figure out how im gonna tweak 'em to improve the quality.

Minion  2002-08-11 10:05:59 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The biggest thing you can do to raise the quality is to raise the bitrate, the quality of the mpeg is directly related to the bitrate used, then the text best thing it increase quality is increase the resolution ,that is if your dvd player will play higher resolutions.....

I am very new at this, and know pretty much nothing. I bought a DVD player for my tv and it says that it accepts VCD. I just downloaded a movie but it is in .avi format. When I went to burn this file to a CD-R it said that I had to convert it to a mpeg. I have not downloaded this product because I don't know if this is what I need or not. Please let me know if I should be using this, and if it self explanitory or is there a lot involved with creating this VCD to play on my DVD player. Thanks for your help.

Minion  2002-08-11 05:40:25 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Makeing a vcd does not seem like a simple proscess when you first start to learn cuz there quite a few variables involved that can change the way you go about doing it...If everything goes perfectly and all the files are in the correct formats it can go quite smoothly, but that doesn"t happen very often..But to answer your question This program will turn an avi file into a mpeg1 or mpeg2 file to burn as a vcd or svcd or even a dvd if you have a dvd burner, It actually is One of the best programs there is for that purpose and much cheaper than most with better quality than most..But if you wan"t to read a "How Too" Guide go to "www.vcdhelp.com" and you can read quite a few and you can learn some of the terminology...good luck

Paul Memoli  2002-08-11 17:07:01 ( ID:/1isfusp3aa )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Some DVD players will play straight mpg files (you can get a list from VCD Help)but most of the dvd players want a mpg file that has been "finalized" by a burner program like NERO.
Download the simple and free TMPG program and let the Wizard handle your transition. Then when the mpg coding is done use Nero to burn your VCD. You can download the basic demo version of TMPG for free but if you want to get a little fancier you might try the TMPG Plus program. The TMPG Plus progam is useable for 14 days before it goes dead and you have to pay for it.This is the version that will let you change bitrates and other settings.
You can also download an "evaluation" version of Ahead's Nero Burning Rom. It stays viable for about a month before it goes dead and then to use it you must pay for it.

Minion  2002-08-11 21:26:21 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You can use any version to change the bitrates and settings, the demo and Plus version are all most exactly the same accept for the length of the trail period..

Question - Not Enough Memory - Error No.26358
BigVince  2002-08-11 03:51:31 ( ID:3xkghnfgfyr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Okay. Post #4 here. I'm converting a 115 minute AVI to mpeg2 using CQ mode. 75% of the way through, I get the error message "Out Of Memory". Any ideas about what could be causing this problem. System is Athlon 1.4 thunderbird, A7V133 mobo, 768 MB memory from Crucial, Win 2000 SP2, and with over 30 GB of disk space available. I went to Doom9, and their solution was to replace the motherboard, which I plan for the future.

Thanks,
Vince

Minion  2002-08-11 04:10:39 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The memory it is talking about could be your Virtual Memory, try raiseing that and see if that is the problem.....

How to store webcam footage and TV programs from TV tuner as MPEG files and store it to VCD format?

Minion  2002-08-11 04:08:38 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

If they are in AVI format you just load the avi files into tmpgenc load the vcd template then choose your output directory then click "Start" then it will encode, but thay is the fast way of explaining it the long way would take all day , go to "www.vcdhelp.com" and they have a bunch of guides to tell you how to do it......

Question - VideoJunkie No.26353
Sime  2002-08-10 22:47:48 ( ID:ngmvlhzqieh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

IS there a way to create a black boarder around the whole video. I mean like NTSC dvd video is 720x480 but I constantly have issues on different players/tv's that stretch or cut off portions of video, I would like to
for instance use a 640x480 image, and put a black border around it to equal 720x480. I want to be able to add a black border around the video that is within the confines of the resolution of the video.

I have AIM: flamereka

ASHY  2002-08-10 23:34:22 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Click setting, under advanced change the video arrange method to 'Center (custom size)' and put in the values you want, I.E 640x480.
This should give you a black border the whole way around within a 720x480 frame, but be aware this will distort the image by compressing it vertically due to the aspect ratio now being incorrect. To correct this put in the values 640x320. This should give you a border with the correct aspect ratio.

Question - How can i change the Audio Stream? No.26350
Ronin  2002-08-10 19:47:24 ( ID:7yttt/jqir2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have an Avi file which is in english. And i have the german Audio stream. How can i change the english one with the german Audio Stream. But without to encode it to an Mpeg?

ASHY  2002-08-10 19:53:50 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Make sure the German audio is in wav format. Load the file into Virtualdub then click 'Audio'. From the menu choose wav audio then locate your German audio track. Click File>save avi. You should end up with the new audio in your AVI.

As an alternative, if you simplay want to exchange the audio directly with the German stream then download AVImux. This will allow you to use any stream with your AVI.

Question - system clock reference is not acceptable?!?!?!? No.26346
roland  2002-08-10 17:30:34 ( ID:jvwptww.d1l )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I wanted to convert a DivX film (25 frames ps) but when it finished roxio videocd creator couldn't create the cd because the system clock reference was to high

Now is my question, how can I change the system clock reference in TMPGenc wirhout adjusting the framerate (otherwise I see glitches in the movie, which is not pretty ;-))

Can anyone tell me how???

Roland

ASHY  2002-08-10 19:02:39 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I think your problem is that you have not attached the VCD headers to your MPEG and have just simply created an MPEG1 file and attempted to burn it as a VCD.

You need to run that file through the MPEGtools simple multiplexer and choose 'MPEG1 Video CD' as the type and then burn in Roxio. If that doesn't improve things then I suggest you dump that crap Roxio and get yourself a real VCD burning program such as Nero or VCD easy which won't give you these silly errors.

lol Ashy you crack me up ...but you're right ... Nero and Vcdeasy are great progs. I mainly use vcdeasy because of the inbuilt chapter functionality.

Question - DVD2SVCD No.26343
ddog  2002-08-10 16:28:46 ( ID:tgwez0zez9r )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I found this great program for making SVCD's. It basically has compiled all the great programs for creating an SVCD and automates the whole process. It also will encode using your choice of CCE and TMPGEnc. However I can't seem to get it to make the correct image size. I tell it to use 800 MB CD's and all of the images come out very close to 800 but just barely too big to burn to CD. Has anyone out htere used this program? Or does anyone know a forum where I can get help on using it? All the links in the program itself seem to have been deactivated. Thanks.

Go to this link http://www.doom9.org/mpg/dvd2svcd.htm you will find a guide how to use DVD2SVCD and also at the bootom of the page a 'live' Q+A page and the forum for DVD2SVCD.

Just a thought...

Your image can be up to ~823 MB's and still burn to an 80 minute (700 MB) CD-R. If you are using 90 minute (800 MB) CD-R's, you should be able to squeeze a ~923 MB image on to it. Try loading it into your burning software and go for it.

Question - Avi file won't open No.26341
jim  2002-08-10 16:23:40 ( ID:zvcflshclp2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

is there any way I can check to see what format a file has been saved in. I have downloaded a .avi file from kazaa and it won't open - have tried TMPgenc - windows media player - divx player - have also tried to fix the file with divxfix.

the files might just be corrupt but they are on multiple hosts on kazaa so i think i must be missing something.

ASHY  2002-08-10 19:18:17 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It may not open because you don't have the correct codec installed to play the file. Try installing Divx 3.11 and Divx 4.12 together.

If these don't work then to see what codec you need download the FOURCC code changer
Go to this site http://www.webartz.com/fourcc/fcccodec.htm and download the software then go to this site for explanation of the codes http://www.webartz.com/fourcc/fcccodec.htm

There is a SubTitle Plugin you can get for Virtual dub then you can frame serve the avi file with the sub"s to Tmpgenc..
