Question - TE30 - TMPGEnc Bitrate Limit No.53515
Penguin  2005-12-16 14:02:12 ( ID:ebyndiiwonl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I own TMPGEnc Express and have used it successfully for many years to enocde DV AVI files to MPEG2 program streams. I wanted to re-encode HD MPEG2 transport stream files (CBR 25000) to HD MPEG2 program stream files (same bitrate). The program allowed me to input an HD MPEG2 transport stream file, but the encoding engine only allows CBR bitrates up to 15000. Is this an artificial limit, or is the program simply not written to handle bitrates higher than 15000?

ashy  2005-12-24 20:24:54 ( ID:/larvwb4b.6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Not sure about the express version as I don't use it, but the limit is set by the Profile & Level you are using. If you want to go higher you have to use a higher profile. I doubt TMPG express has this facility only TMPG plus.

Question - TME1 - Editing HDV No.54434
Penguin  2005-12-16 13:49:47 ( ID:ebyndiiwonl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I own TMPGEnc MPEG Editor, and have successfully used it to edit HDV files. It input the HD MPGE2 transport stream files from my Sony HD camcorder, edit them, then create HD MPEG2 program stream files with a minimum of re-encoding. However, I don't see this capability in your list of features - did TMPGEnc MPEG Editor create my HD MPEG2 program stream files correctly but you just don't advertise this feature, or are these files corrupted in some way?

Penguin  2005-12-16 14:22:56 ( ID:ebyndiiwonl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Note that TSUNAMI MPEG Media Editor does make it clear that it supports HDV files, and will save them to HD MPEG2 program streams. Is the TMPGEnc MPEG Editor exactly the same product without the box, so it works in exactly the same way.

And why isn't the TSUNAMI MPEG Media Editor available for download?

Question - TE25 - screen caps No.43531
sandrulee  2005-12-15 17:12:52 ( ID:.lrmhwyziyo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Sandra

ashy  2005-12-15 20:39:12 ( ID:/larvwb4b.6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Yes.
Load the source, set the resolution you wish to capture at then click File>preview then move to the frame you want and right click on it and select 'copy to clipboard'.
Paste into any image program.

Question - TE25 - Mr. No.43528
sergiobn  2005-12-13 15:08:42 ( ID:cqjtv45m.u6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I use TMPEnc Plus 2.5 and it was running ok for several months.
But now, when I start encoding a movie, when the progress bar reaches 100%, it stop and freeze. I have to force quit the application. And the resultin mpeg file runs without any audio.
I have unistalled TMPGenc and re-installed it again, but the problem remains.
What is the problem here?

ashy  2005-12-13 18:17:22 ( ID:/larvwb4b.6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Just leave it. You need to give it time to write the headers. Go and have a coffee or somthing as it can take a while with some files.
Either way that won't be the reason you have no sound, that is another problem. Probably aa source that TMPG can't decode such as AC3 or sometimes even VBR Mp3.

sergiobn  2005-12-14 14:05:18 ( ID:cqjtv45m.u6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

But the source file I was using is a Quicktime movie, with the same codec I always use for years. In the past I had no problem at all.
I had never to wait too long for the application write the headers.
It is a strange sintom.

Cange the audio output to MP2 instead of PCM.

Question - TE25 - No audio when converting rm files No.43520
Frylock  2005-12-11 01:06:17 ( ID:gen7kypplum )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

For some reason when I convert rm to mpg I get the video but no audio. Does anyone know why?

Lee  2006-01-11 18:13:11 ( ID:mzfgfu1e29o )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I had the same problem the first time. Did you ever solve the problem ?

Thanks,
Lee

ashy  2006-01-11 21:12:40 ( ID:/larvwb4b.6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

TMPG is unable to decode RM audio. You will need to convert the audio to wav first.

Lee  2006-01-12 03:43:07 ( ID:mzfgfu1e29o )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Well,
That's fine, but the movie is one avi file. Can I pull the audio out ?

teac  2006-02-17 14:54:14 ( ID:pfb7dxe9dso )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

use goldwave then save audio as wav or mp3 then multiplex it in tmpgenc with your rm video already converted to m1v
:)

ling_lol  2006-03-08 09:53:54 ( ID:yn4apa.dher )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello...Is there a way to easily add all mpeg files in various subfolders to a batch project? I have a folder with many subfolders containing mpeg files and the only way i can figure out how to add them to a batch project is one by one which is very tedious. Any help would be appreciated :)

Question - TE25 - Misreading AVI length No.43516
Steelshanks  2005-12-07 23:46:13 ( ID:lvung0xhdqf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have been a happy TMPEG user for several years now, and recently experienced a very strange problem.

I make VCD's/DVD typical and I've never had any problems, however I recently updated TMPEG to the latest version and now it is misreading my AVI files length. For example, an avi that is 30 minutes long, it was think it's 90 minutes long, it is always misreading by approximately 3 times the length. This of course causes problems because the output file is 3 times bigger than it needs to be.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,

SteelShanks

'Directshow file reader' priority to 2 in the VFAPI plugins.

Crocodile  2006-10-01 22:07:38 ( ID:ebrdfyjab2m )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I was getting the 3x file issue, and also my files had no audio.

This advice sorted the 3x issue (I was working around this by selecting all but the last couple of seconds of the clip to encode) and also the audio! Thanks very much for a great product.

Question - TDA2 - Very slowly program No.55683

Question - TE25 - Rendering Time No.43512
DunHill  2005-12-04 07:37:15 ( ID:djcvxqjwl12 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm new to TMPG. I have a dvd quality avi file, 90mins/20Gb, converting to mpeg-2. I load the DVD(NTSC) template, no problem. However, the rendering time is approx. 30 hours.

Is this to be expected?

System:

P4 2.53GHz; 8kb/512kb mem.cache
1Gb Ram
120 hdd (80Gb free)

tia

ashy  2005-12-04 14:01:29 ( ID:/larvwb4b.6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Depends on whether you are reading and writing to the same HD or not.
If you are then that's half of your problem. A 20gb AVI is massive and will require a fair bit of memory resources too.

I would download and install FFDShow then go into the config settings and enable Raw AVI decoding. It should speed it up.
Also set the 'Motion search precision' in TMPG to 'motion estimnate search' No need for anything else as the AVI is of high quality anyway.

If you are using any filters in TMPG then disable them.
an AVI to MPEG2 should take 4-5 hours on your system.

Thanks Ashy!

I have my avi files on an ext. hdd via usb and the output file to Cdrive. After applying config. chgs to TMPG alone, rendering time dropped from 39+ hrs to 2+ hrs.

Thank you, again.

ps.
Ashy, how did you learn so much about this app? Since, it doesn't seem to have documentation. Or is this just your field of expertise?
Do you know of any free online tutorial for av editing? I'd like to learn more to have better understanding.

ashy  2005-12-06 17:42:09 ( ID:/larvwb4b.6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have used TMPG for many years and gaimed most of what I know by experience. If you download TMPGenc plus you will get a manual with it.
An excellant site for video creation with lots of TMPG tutorials is http://www.videohelp.com/
