Question - TE30 - TMPGEnc XPress issues No.53513
Help needed  2005-11-29 22:15:46 ( ID:ra54zhw1zgr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

1) I've tried to re-encode a number of wmv files into avi's. The output auido I set as a CBR 128kb/s mp3 using Lame encoder.
For some reason the result was not mp3 but avi audio (according to G-Spot). Therefore, a stand alone divx player didn't give me any audio. It worked fine with another software but not TMPGEnc.

2) While trying to convert some mpeg files, it gets stuck on one frame but the audio goes on as normal. I noticed that it usually happens when the scene changes. In that case I have to use TMPGEnc free version 2.56 or 2.59, nothing else works, re-encode the same file into a new mpeg, and right after that XPress processes a file. Once again, another software handles those problem mpegs from the first try.

3) Xpress does not recognize some videos with ac3 sounds. Version 2.56 has no this problem.

Thanks for any help.

Question - TE25 - Error Msg "Can't Load P3Package.dll" No.43508
JvstJim  2005-11-29 20:33:45 ( ID:k8n/onjbasr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have been successful previously converting wave files and I believe AVI but now in trying to convert an AVI file I get error msg that Can't Load P3Package.dll. My folder is showing this .dll file. I tried to redownload TMPGEnc to no avail. Any help greatly appreciated.

Dennis  2005-11-29 23:24:42 ( ID:ky0iy1hosdn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Extract all files of the zipfile to a specified folder. Then run the .exe file. This should do the trick.

ashy  2005-12-01 19:37:06 ( ID:/larvwb4b.6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Why people think they can run programs from a zip file or just extract the .exe from the folder and the run the program is beyond me. All those other files in the folder are just for show I suppose....

Dangerous too  2006-01-16 03:31:58 ( ID:ispvt2warjm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Since it originally worked...Did you drag the .exe file out to the desktop? I did and mine quit working. Drag it back in to wherever you extracted the file to and it will work again. Classic case of knowing enough to be dangerous...

Question - TE25 - Batch encode No.43505
KJ  2005-11-26 14:38:51 ( ID:lhenn9hhhuo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi,
I am using TMPGenc to encode .avi home movie clips to .mpg however one tape will contain about 100 clips and the wizard will only allow me to add one clip at a time to the batch file. Is there a quicker way or a different program that will do it?

Regards

KJ

Question - TE25 - xvid No.43499
adonisxx  2005-11-23 16:45:30 ( ID:9ypykpxnonl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

i know that this really don't have anything to do with tmpgenc but cannot anyone recommend a program that can convert your dvd to xvid?

thanks in advance guys!!

ashy  2005-11-25 22:12:49 ( ID:/larvwb4b.6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Yeh, TMPG can do it.

adonisxx  2005-11-28 04:27:18 ( ID:gqffzvjkplo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

thanks for your reply back, i did not know that you could convert dvd to xvid with tmpgenc. would you mind explaing how? to start i guess you would convert your vob files to an mpeg file?

ashy  2005-11-28 21:20:56 ( ID:/larvwb4b.6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

TMPG can open VOB files, but it's not advisable as it doesn't allow audio track selection.
You will need DVD2AVI to create a .d2v project file from the VOBs (takes a few minutes) then load the .d2v into TMPG.
Set up the file as you want it created, I.E. ouput size, filters e.t.c. then go to File>Output to file>AVI file. Next just select the codecs you want to encode with and choose to save the file somewhere.

ashy  2005-11-28 21:23:42 ( ID:/larvwb4b.6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

P.S. you can use just DVD2AVI to create the AVI, but I find you have more control over the output if you let TMPG do it.

Question - TDA1 - MP3's playing in main menu? No.49451
Howie17  2005-11-22 05:37:00 ( ID:omqrqjceqqk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is there a way in TMPGEnc DVD Author to have an MP3 playing in the background when the main menu is displayed? I plan to have a standard image displayed in the background of the main menu as well (I've figured this one out already)...

Howie

tsallgood  2005-12-13 07:09:29 ( ID:wknkfgoaz1a )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Unfortunately, although DVDAuthor will do everything else you need, to do this, you actually have to use "motion menus" and make your picture/sound file into a movie to use it as a background. This program does not mix or render well.

You have to have some video editing software of some kind (if you are running windows, the movie maker will work fine). Set up a project to do either a slide show or just a still image with background music. Figure out how long the song is and set the delay for the picture to that value. Render the project and add to your DVDA project as the menu background. They will probably address this problem in the future, but for now, that is it.

Question - TE25 - Video is reversed and upside down, How do I fix this? No.43495
ReesesH  2005-11-21 07:00:03 ( ID:xxkfpuet.wm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have used the old version of TMPGEnc for several years converting to VCD but decide to finally start converting AVI to DVD and all the video is reversed and upside down like a mirror image. Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem? I have never had anything like this happen before.

ashy  2005-11-22 12:10:13 ( ID:/larvwb4b.6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Which codec are you using, Xvid?

Several ways to deal with this. Go onto the BFAPI settings in TMPG and put the 'OenDML' or 'VFW file reader' filter as top priority in the list

or

Download and install FFDSHOW, that should sort the problem. If not then go into FFDSHOW configuration and put a check in the 'flip picture' option under 'Output' in the menu.

ashy  2005-11-22 12:11:00 ( ID:/larvwb4b.6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Sorry that should say 'VFAPI' not 'BFAPI'. You can find it in the 'Enviromental settings'

Hello,

I am having the same problem. I am attempting to convert .mpg files to a smaller size for playing on a portable device, with PocketTV. The video comes out backwards and upside-down. I tried all 3 things that you said, and it is still the same. Any other ideas? Thanks.

Request - TE30 - Blur effect No.53512
busmaster  2005-11-20 11:01:32 ( ID:fbhce4lcde. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello. I'm very happy with this encoder but i could be more happy if it would have an integrated blur effect (normal, circular or Gaussian).Little blurring is very usefull in VHS encoding for better quality, not the same as noise reduction and third part utility, like avisynth, are not so good if you use mpeg2 files as source materials. Is it possible to have this effect in some next release of TMPG Express?

Question - TE25 - About mpv and hand held gadgets No.43486
Kennet  2005-11-15 17:48:49 ( ID:emvezspsy6f )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi!

I'm new to all this Video stuff and I hope that you guys can accept that, so please don't bite my head of...;)...

I have one of those new gadgets in my hand, it's a MP4 player and I wonder how to convert let's say a mpeg, avi or mov to the format used in this device. The file extension it uses is *.mpv. I have tried to follow your discussions on this board but a lot of it is above my head I’m afraid.

So If some of you guys can give me a hint on how to use TMPGEnc to convert a simple mpeg to *.mpv I would be very thankful, If it's possible at all..:)

Best Regards
Kennet

PS. Please, keep it simple...

ashy  2005-11-16 18:41:12 ( ID:/larvwb4b.6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Will it play any MPEG4 format?
If so then use Virtualdub for creating your MPEG 4's which is designed for AVI.

You can use TMPG if you wish, but you need an MPEG4 codec installed such as XVID then you can encode to MPEG4.

Kennet  2005-11-16 19:41:24 ( ID:emvezspsy6f )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

No I'm sorry to say that it only works with the *.mpv format. I have one
working video file, a file that comes with the player default. I've tried to
play it using different software's in my PC but nothing outside the
MP4-player can read the file format, It seems.

I have found people at several places asking the same questions about how to
convert a more commend file format into this strange *.mpv format. It seems
as if it's not possible to find any converter at all on the net. I've been around
everywhere to try and find something.

Should this really be so extremely difficult, or is it me who have been
looking in the wrong places.

I'm more then thankful for all tips I can get....
Best regards

Kennet

PS.
Here you have the device I'm trying to figure out...

ashy  2005-11-17 19:13:15 ( ID:/larvwb4b.6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Can you send me a portion of this file or upload it somewhere, say a couple of megs and I'll find out what it is?

Kennet Carlsen  2005-11-17 22:08:29 ( ID:emvezspsy6f )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

That would be great if you could take a look at the file. I don't see your mail address here at the BBS, but you can send a mail to my address and I'll zip the file and I’ll send it to you in a replay-mail.

The zipped file is 5.18 MB in size, I hope that's okay. It's difficult to take a smaller piece since I have no means of edit or even to view the video outside the MP4-player.

Finally I only want to say that I’m very thankful that you are prepared take some of your time to look at this problem.

Best Regards.
Kennet Carlsen

When I join mpg files, about 75% of the time I get this high pitched kind of click sound where the 1st file ends and the 2nd starts.

How can I stop that annoying sound from showing up in my joined mpgs?

Question - TDA1 - first play track No.49449
fonejak  2005-11-13 19:57:53 ( ID:ady5r0mi57g )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi

Can anyone tell me how to do the following in TDA:

1) first play a track #1 with copyright warnings etc, disable track skipping, plays for 30 sec or so upon inserting disc in player

2) next show menus for track #2's chapters

3) optionally cause track #2 to automatically start playing if no menu is selected for 1 minute

My problem seems to be that I cant see a way to have track #1 have no menu.

Any tips MUCH appreciated.
