what you do is load in your avi/d2v file choose your template and settings then save it,you will have a batch file now, repeat this step as many times as you need then go to "batch encode" and load these files in,then you are ready to go...

I'M HAVING A PROBLEM FINDING A TEMPLATE. WHAT IS A TEMPLATE EXACTLY AND WHERE ON MY HARD DRIVE CAN I FIND THEM? CAN I DOWNLOAD A TEMPLATE? THANKS

Harley  2002-04-07 17:59:28 ( ID:ipb7t2avhyg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

If you download the latest version of TMPGENC it includes templates, it also has a project wizard which earlier versions didn't, this allows you to easily make VCD, SVCD or DVD compliant files in either PAL or NTSC with a couple of easy clicks.

Compliant files (after being burnt to disk) can then be played on a DVD or VCD player. Nearly all DVD players play VCD & DVD and some play SVCD. VCD players only play VCD.

Playstation 1 can play VCD but not SVCD or DVD if you buy an adapter. Playstation 2 can play DVD but not VCD or SVCD.

Question - TE25 - Do I have the good settings ? No.18275
Monte-Cristo  2002-04-07 17:03:59 ( ID:ssmowfnaotm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I downloaded a movie from the Internet, in .avi. I wanted to change it to .mpg for a video CD. It took eight hours yesterday, and it was the wrong settings. Are these settings all right ?
MPEG-1
352 x 240
29,97 fps
CBR
1150kbps
Layer-2 44100Hz
224kbps
4:3
525 line (NTSC)
Thanks

Harley  2002-04-07 18:07:09 ( ID:ipb7t2avhyg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Your settings look okay for an NTSC VCD.

Use the project wizard included in the latest version of TMPGENC and you shouldn't have any worries.

Make sure your burning the disk correctly.

Monte-Cristo  2002-04-07 18:59:50 ( ID:ssmowfnaotm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The wiz is not active. How do I install it ?

Harley  2002-04-07 19:05:56 ( ID:ipb7t2avhyg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Goto file and select project wizard or press Ctrl+W on your keyboard.

If this doesn't work it probally means your using an old version, so download the new one.

Monte-Cristo  2002-04-07 20:36:40 ( ID:ssmowfnaotm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I had to installed the program again. Now, the wiz is working. I started encoding a movie. But the faces of the actors are long. It's a cinemascope movie. What should I do ?

sherlock  2002-04-07 21:41:33 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

dont use the 525 line ntsc,if you want it just like the avi. file choose 1:1,this should work but try different settings till you are happy...

I was wondering how difficult it would be to add an overlay image? Preferrably a PNG or TIFF, since then I wouldn't need to use a seperate application such as Vegas or Premier to add a graphic along the bottom of my videos. I'm simply going from DV ->MPeg Video/Audio streams then staright to DVD. TMPGENC is by far the fastest software encoder I've seen, and being able to add this one small feature would be perfect!

Thanx,
Vission

sherlock  2002-04-07 21:46:11 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

you need to put your grafic on with another program,"tmpgenc" is strictly for encodeing and it definately is not the fastest but it is the most versitile and easy to use and has the best quality for you buck....

Request - TE25 - trouble playing on dvd players No.18266
Steve Riesen  2002-04-07 05:12:15 ( ID:3dq.vpxp40a )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am converting AVI and MPEG files to the VCD format. After TMPG software appears to covert my project to VCD I burn it to a CD. I have tried every DVD player and it cannot be read. The brand of CD is PNY, the CD burner is a Samsung, and I have tried to play on APEX, Panasonic, and JVC players.

Is there a step I am possibly missing?

sherlock  2002-04-07 05:57:47 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

what program are you useing to burn your vcd?you can"t just encode a vcd and burn it, it has to be burned in vcd format.........

Techno  Home )  2002-04-07 09:30:24 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

it will ONLY play if your DVD player supports CD-R!!!!!!!!!! Regardless if it says VCD/SVCD it must support/say CD-R

Please no more Hauppage WinTV advertisement.

They only encode in AVI - they use up your processor - and they don't have composite inputs.

Question - TE25 - Bit Rate? No.18262
Bob  2002-04-07 02:32:59 ( ID:jtkeykdh.n. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi,

I have a clip from VHS tape that appears to be washed out. I have tried a color correction, and although it helps to a degree, it does not appear to be the solution. I would like to increase the bit rate on mpeg1 to see if that helps. does anyone know how to do it or maybe have a better recommendation?

Thanks, Bob

sherlock  2002-04-07 04:12:48 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

it is easy to up the bit rate on vcd but this won"t help that much, cuz you can"t make roses from crab grass, but to up the bitrate you click the "load" tab go to the extra folder and choose the "unlock.mcf" template and then you will be able to up the bit rate in the "settings",but be ware that this will unlock all the settings so make sure that every other setting is vcd compliant or you will waste a lot of time on a file that is useless....hope this helps...sherlock

Perfect. Ripper first, then DVD2AVI, then TMPGEnc, and finally NERO VCD. I appreciate your help. NERO comes bundled with some Motherboards, version 5.0 and, once installed, you can go to www.nero.com and get the latest version free.

sherlock  2002-04-07 21:49:57 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

you can just download a demo of the newest "nero" and it is easy to get the reg. codes and plugins for it ,if you know were to look....

How do I capture a movie from my PC DVD to use with TMPG?

sherlock  2002-04-07 04:15:53 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

go to vcdhelp.com and there are a lot of instructions on how to do it,you will have to download a few programs to do this, but you can find them there in the "tools" section........

Techno  Home )  2002-04-07 09:29:33 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You cannot capture DVD quality movies:

buy this card (it is the best):

hauppauge wintv GO PCI:

use these settings to capture:

NO RECOMPRESSION
YU12
320*240
CD quality wav audio
25/30fps

Make sure you got a BIG HDD and NTFS partition

Then convert to MPEG2/DVD

This is REALLY GOOD stuff as I have made A LOT OF VIDEOS and The quality is NEAR DVD.

Here is my sample work:

Hmm

Eh, isn't the WinTV PVR better ?

Techno  Home )  2002-04-07 11:49:17 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

yes and no

the PVR captures in MPEG2 and MPEG1, but if you capture something in MPEG1/2, you will lose quality. When you capture and compress, you lose quality.

Use my recommendation, it is cheap and HIGH QUALITY!!!!!!

Anything from VHS will NOT be good quality, sometimes you can fix it but usually you can't.

If you want to increase the bitrate then don't use the VCD templates, make your own Custom version and use that.

Question - TE25 - Problem audio and no video for AVI file conversion No.18249
EvilMP  2002-04-07 01:25:59 ( ID:abn9om0h1mr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Did anyone figure out this problem yet, I have ran several different options with the same out come no VIDEO but I got sound. Only if I was blind would I enjoy this movie!

sherlock  2002-04-07 04:18:46 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

well you have to make sure that your avi. file isn"t divx5, cuz it isn"t supported, but some more information would be helpfull if you want your problem resolved.......

Natasha  2002-04-07 14:33:49 ( ID:fncpvlceaz2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I've found that I'm running into similar problems here and then. In my case it's the sound that's missing. When I play the AVI itself I can hear the sound, as soon as I use TMPEG for creating a VCD (PAL) the sound's gone.
Installed are DivX-Codecs 3, 4, and 5 as well as these Indeo-drivers. OP-Sys is WinXP (maybe that's the Problem *g*)

Anyone has a clue?

This seemed to be the nearest to my problem - so is there any way to decode the video in DivX 5.0 into a standard VCD compatable MPEG? Is there a plugin out there?! Help!!
