Bug report - Windows 7 system crash No.70853
John Nicolettos  2017-09-14 02:47:49 ( ID:gwzmwlxdqzc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have a licensed copy of TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress (EN) and wanted to try Mastering Works 6. I downloaded a trial version which worked fine until I tried using the Timeline mode. That action locked up my computer and I had to do a hardware shutdown which corrupted my OS(Window 7 -64 bit).

I was able to recover my OS, but, when I tried to uninstall the program the uninstaller ran for over 5 minutes without stopping. I just got a busy mouse icon. I'm concerned that whatever the program did to my system is still a problem. Any advise on how to get this program off my computer, without using "Windows Uninstall" would be greatly appreciated.

Also, would be interested if anyone else had this problem and if so, what did you do to fix it.

Thanks

Never, heard about such behavior,
I recommend you to check your hardware, you can try to uninstall using a freeware such as Revo uninstaller:
http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html
delete including the registry entries.
cheers,

Question - UI reacting very slowly No.70842
Otto  2017-08-29 16:17:42 ( ID:k26qnzxicrr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi,
first of all: I am very happy with TMPGEnc 6. I like working with it and the usability of the software i think is awesome. Also Hurray! for the Batch-Rendering-Feature.

However since i first started using TMPGEnc i have the problem, that the UI is reacting very slowly on changes.

For example: When i insert a clip into the timeline i have to wait 5 seconds. When i want to set the current play-marker somewhere on the clip it takes another 5-8 seconds until the preview-window updates. Same when i try to split a clip: At least 10 seconds until something is happening.

The other major thing is playback in preview-window: While the sound is on time, the preview-window is never keeping up. It mostly stops displaying anything at all, only a freeze frame. When i hit the stop-button the preview-image updates after 5 seconds.

Does anyone have a suggestion how this can be eliminated?
My computer-specifications are: Intel Core i7-2600K - 3,40 GHz, 24 GB RAM, 64-Bit Windows 7, GeForce GTX 1070

I have already set the option "Pre-Rendering - Save Folder" to RAM so it's not caching on the harddisk, but no change.

Mostly i am rendering videos 1920x1080 - 60 FPS and 2440x1440 - 60 FPS.

I am open for any suggestion. It is so hard to work with the software, when you have to wait every few seconds for the ui-update.

Best regards,
Otto

Just to clarify: If no one has a solution i am also very happy to hear from your user-experience. Do you have the same problem when working with clips? Does your TMPGenc react immediately when changing properties or moving clips? Any help or review would be appreciated, so i may be able to narrow the problem down.

Best regards,
Otto

I only get that kind of slow down when I work with videos higher than 1080p, so maybe your system just can't handle it. I mostly work with 720p and 1080i footage and it works great with that.

I'm on Windows 10, Core i7, 16 GB RAM.

Question - INSTALLING PROBLEM No.70830
JIN SHINE CHEN  2017-08-07 19:20:13 ( ID:rwahj7hvzxm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

My new notebook screen resolution is 1920x1080HD,but why installing shows"The software cannon start because this computer does not have the minimum required screen resolution 1280x768(at DPI 100%)"?

tkrave  2017-08-16 13:05:21 ( ID:t7rw5rdz3jm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

In your notebook's Display Settings, is the Scale and Layout set to 100%?

If it's a different percentage, you'll need to change it.

Question - Automatic Bit Rate not accurate No.70820
am_dew  2017-07-26 22:26:52 ( ID:hlong.mvpdk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The automatic bit rate setting does not seem to work properly because if I have a source that is, for example, a constant 25 Mbps, the auto bit rate setting sets itself to 12.4. It also overshoots the maximum bit rate by quite a bit and sets it to 49.6 Mbps. The format I am seeing this behavior on is MP4 H.264/AVC and the source video is the same. In other words, I output something using the MP4 H264.AVC format and then used that as my source.

Any ideas why this is happening? Thanks.

am_dew  2017-07-27 20:47:44 ( ID:hlong.mvpdk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I asked Support the same question and this is their response, which does not seem to make any sense to me.

"It checks the resolution of the source file and based on that it is
decided.
Is not about making the source and the output to the same bitrate, this
function is to adjust the best possible bitrate for output.
So in other words it is a function for not make the bitrate too low.

If you want to output in the same bitrate you have to set it manually in
the Bitrate settings without using the automatic function."

If the source is 25 Mbps, the setting the output to 12.4 would result in quality loss I would assume, right? I know that is not a given, but it seems reasonable.

Comments?

Question - Make frame rate 25fps as default No.70816
anthonyh  2017-07-22 01:13:37 ( ID:yxdhn2/licf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I was wondering if it`s possible to make 25fps the default for encoding etc as the majority of our encodes are to this frame rate. It`s a bit of a hassle to have to change it from 30fps every time we do a new encode. Perhaps a setting in preferences to set the default framerate.
thanks

tkrave  2017-07-27 13:18:30 ( ID:t7rw5rdz3jm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

If you're always encoding to the same format, then I would make a custom output template.

After you make your template, the next time you go to the format stage it should select your custom template by default.

anthonyh  2017-07-27 19:56:14 ( ID:yxdhn2/licf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It`s the import frame rate that I want to set rather than the output. It defaults to 30 and we rarely ever use that. thanks for the response though.

Question - Import DNxHD mxf No.70815

I try to import file with *.mxf extension and get a message that file has not video. File created in Adobe Premiere Pro СС2017 with codec Avid DNxHD 120 1920x1080 50i. Other mxf files with other codecs is importing normally

Question - Rotate Filter and Cut/Edit No.70813
Douglas Bruce  Home )  2017-07-20 08:56:55 ( ID:ds0vvem9dil )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have a lot of clips that are upside down.
I use the "Rotate" filter to rotate 180 degrees.
Then I want to cut/edit the rotated clips, but when I go to Cut/Edit, the clips are inverted again.
Can I make the filter stick when I go to cut/edit?

The workaround is to render out the rotated clips and then re-import them to cut/edit.
But I wonder if I can do both the rotation and cut/edit in the same session?
Regards
Douglas

tkrave  2017-07-27 13:00:39 ( ID:t7rw5rdz3jm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I think the easiest way is to use another program to change the rotation setting in the video's metadata before you bring it into TVMW6.
Try out movierotator.com for a program that can change the setting without having to re-encode.

Request - 'Copy' Audio and/or Video No.70801
bobthegoat2001  2017-06-23 01:35:02 ( ID:ri07.fpz166 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

A feature that I have been wanting for awhile now is a feature to just 'Copy' the audio from the original video. Audio is normally so small, that re-encoding it is unnecessary. I believe it's better to just copy the original audio so that their isn't any quality loss when converting it. There are some codecs not supported by TMPGenc VMW 6 also, for example DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 channel.

Question - Keep last frame of video No.70794
Otto  2017-06-20 22:39:34 ( ID:y/wqiqwptyj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello,
is it possible to freeze frames for a period amount of time inside a single clip?

I have an audio-recording, which is a longer then the original video-clip. So i would like to freeze (stretch) certain parts inside the video-clip until the audio arrives at the specific marker and then continue with the regular video.

Thank you and best regards.

tkrave  2017-06-21 16:06:18 ( ID:nrp09m2aqdn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is the audio a separate file from the video? If not, you'll have to demux them into separate files.

I would then use the timeline mode and put the audio on one layer and the video on another.
Then, you can use the clip editor to create a separate clip of the frame(s) you want to stretch.
Back in the timeline, you can then lengthen that clip to the appropriate time.

Otto  2017-06-21 20:54:43 ( ID:y/wqiqwptyj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Yes tkrave, the audio is separate from the video.

Thank you for your suggestion. I already tried that, but the effort for creating the exact frame is way to much when i have to do this around 50 times per video.

An easy way would be to just cut the video where you want to have the still-image and the stretch the cut clip to the right for the desired period of time. Unfortunately TMPGEnc continues with the original video-footage when doing that.

tkrave  2017-06-22 12:41:04 ( ID:t7rw5rdz3jm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

If it is a single frame, turn the frame into an image and import that image as a clip. Then you can extend it to any length and it will still be the same image.

Otto  2017-06-23 22:31:46 ( ID:kuz9.f2vrcw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thank you tkrave for your ongoing writing. Do you have a hint how i can turn the last frame of a cutted clip into a single image?

tkrave  2017-06-24 13:37:40 ( ID:t7rw5rdz3jm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

In the clip editor, navigate to your final frame and then you press CTRL+F or right-click on the image and choose to save it as an image.

Otto  2017-06-24 15:23:09 ( ID:kuz9.f2vrcw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

tkrave you are awesome. This is exactly what i was searching for!
Now i can fill up the missing gap with a continuous picture.

Thank you very much for your help.

Question - No MP3 audio in encoded AVI No.70793
MFiend  2017-06-20 13:40:28 ( ID:yzjw4sdq55l )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Want to reencode an FLV to x264/MP3.

The Video encoding works without problems.

But NO audio is produced, whether I select PCM or MP3.

Source audio is MP3 64 kbps mono 44.1 kHz. Even if I select exactly the same MP3 output type in Advanced Acoustic Engine MP3 Encoder, NO audio is produced - zilch.

TIA

MFiend  2017-06-28 09:36:22 ( ID:yzjw4sdq55l )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Answer is that x264vfw has 2 output modes, "File" and "VFW", while TMPGEnc VMW6 outputs to its "Output File Name".

If I select x264vfw's "File" mode, video is output there but any audio goes to TE6's "Output File Name".

If I select x264vfw's "VFW" mode, video+audio is muxed in TE6's "Output File Name", but with video delay - need to select "Zero latency" in x264vfw to avoid but that increases filesize.

Question - No Picture Available No.70785
am_dew  2017-06-13 23:06:10 ( ID:hlong.mvpdk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have an MKV file with the properties below, which when I load it into TVMW6, I get "No Picture Available" in the Clip Editor and "No Video Data" in the Clip Properties. Yet, I can play this file fine using several different media applications such as VLC, Windows Media Player and Media Player Classic. The audio is seen as expected. Is there anything I can do to make this file's video to be seen by TVMW6? Thank you.

P.S. I am able to transcode the same file using HandBrake just fine with it reading the video.

You might simply need to use a different file reader.

You can select a different file reader in the file explorer window that appears when importing your file. There is a drop down menu next to the filename text area. Just select one of the "Force Reader blah blah blah" options in the menu.

am_dew  2017-06-14 20:15:11 ( ID:hlong.mvpdk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks. I tried using several of the "Force Reader" variants when adding the file and none of them worked.

Try sending the details to customer support. They might know why it's not working.

I tried submitted a technical support request but I get a message "The serial number is not correct" despite me copying and pasting the serial number directly from my email confirmation as well as the same one found in TVMW6. Seems they really don't want to provide support. Any suggestions?

Ignore the above...I was able to submit a support request after all.

Question - Mask filter in clip mode No.70783
senior14  2017-06-10 17:20:53 ( ID:ogdavir0hdc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I want to blacken a part of the picture over a range of about 400 frames. Whatever setting I've tried so far generates a black mask over the required range of frames but in the output video the mask moves a significant stretch from right to left at the beginning of the masking for about 5 seconds. This results in displaying partially some of the area i want to conceal. For the rest of the masking period the result is as expected.
Perhaps it is important to mention that I didn't have to double-click into the pre-view to display the mask shape. The contour of the mask appears automatically when "mask" ist selected in the filter list.

Any suggestions what I do wrongly? I'd be thankful for any hint.

Greetings,
senior14
