Question - nvidia Maxwell support No.68495
Alkermes  2014-05-31 21:50:20 ( ID:l8l.we3au/c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi.

I have installed a new nvidia GTX 750 Ti (instead GTX 650 Ti).

Recoding a video file with GTX 650 Ti the GPU usage is about 25/30%, but recoding the same video file (with same output setings) with GTX 750 Ti the GPU usage is about 90/95%...

Regards, Alkermes.

tkrave  2014-06-05 05:44:14 ( ID:resxbfmz4s2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

What's the issue? Don't you want higher GPU usage?

In any case, there was a new update a few days ago which fixes an issue with Maxwell optimization.

Alkermes  2014-06-05 07:23:25 ( ID:l8l.we3au/c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi tkrave, you are right ;-)

1- Why for the same work there much difference between 2 video cards?. This is not normal.
2- I can not to use batch encode with several video files using GTX 750 because the performance is very low (>90% GPU usage only one video file) compared to GTX 650 (less GPU usage).

For example encoding (CUDA decode and encode) with GTX 750, 3 identical video files at same time in batch encode tool. Time about 12 minutes. Encoding only 1 video file take about 4 minutes. Not diference between encode 3 or 1 file at same time.
Encoding with GTX 650 the same 3 identical video files in batch encode tool is about 7 minutes...

The fact, now to use stardar decoder + CUDA encoder is faster than to use CUDA decoder + CUDA encoder.

The problem may be the nvidia drivers, I dont know.

Edit: New Tmpgenc version 5.5.0.105 fix an error occurred when optimizing the CUDA acceleration on a "Maxwell" core GPU (i.e. GTX 750).

Install the new version and the high GPU usage and encoding times are the same.

Regards, Alkermes.

Alkermes  2014-08-03 02:12:08 ( ID:l8l.we3au/c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi again.

I updated to the latest nvidia drivers (340.52) and now I can not encode with CUDA in TMPGEnc VMW (Video Encoder tab do not show CUDA option).

I have found this coment in nvidia forums about this issue:

"What has been removed since 340.43 is the NVCUVENC which is the old CUDA-based video encoder API. Its replacement is the NVENC API but is only available for 600-series and later GPUs."

It is possible that the problem of nvidia Maxwell performance in TMPGEnc is the use of NVCUVENC API...

Then, Tmpgenc team should change from NVCUENC API to NVENC API in future versions ;-)

Rubberduck  2015-12-18 16:59:10 ( ID:tly/ocp4a8a )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Fine. But how do we solve this issue? So far nothing has been done by TMPGEnc to get rid off this annoying problem.

I want to use CUDA because the standard encoder are far too slow.

Question - Encoding don't start No.68475
profa  2014-05-16 15:46:02 ( ID:jy3mhcwu.0n )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

After editing a clip, I am trying to encode file in wmv. However, it just gives me a status "preparing output", and keeps that way, encoding never starts. I installed new K-Lite codec pack, and Windows Media Encoder, as suggested in Help, but still no use. Also, tried in other formats, same thing happens. Any ideas?

Persen  2014-05-21 05:24:11 ( ID:6tr/46zxmom )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I don't know who it was who suggested the K-Lite codecs pack, but that package is nothing than a piece of junk collection of all sorts of useless codecs.
To avoid futher problems, i suggest that you download both Revo Uninstaller and CCleaner.
First you use Revo to remove the codecs pack entirely and when that is done, you use CCleaner to remove the rest of the garbage it has left behind in your computers registry.

In general, i don't suggest that you use WMV, that is also a piece of junk that only belongs in the past.
Encode instead to MP4 H264, much more stable, much more support by all media players, plus you can play a lot more with the bitrates to fit them to your need.

mathew lisett  2015-01-27 13:25:23 ( ID:emul5xj.btn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have to agree with the above user, that codec pack is junk. I use cole2k advanced codec pack with the full install

have to ask, whats your system specs and what is the reason behind wanting to use wmv

Question - Converting from VOB to MPEG-2 No.68468
pattyvalencia  2014-05-15 01:58:49 ( ID:velutfo1y7r )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am trying to convert a video deposition; from VOB file; to MPEG-2.

But I can't figure out how to upload additional clips.

Also, am getting Error Message: ''Unsupported File. Error: 0x80048003''.

Is there a local class I can take? I'm in Houston, Texas. I want to master this thing.

Need Help ASAP! Thank you.

Read the help file; it explains how to do things.

To add more clips in Timeline mode, there is an Add Clip button above the timeline. You can hover your pointer over a button to get a description.

In Normal mode, you can use the Source Wizard or Add File button on the right-hand side of the window in the Edit Stage.

For VOB files, you probably want to use the Source Wizard and select the "From a DVD, etc." option.

Not sure about the error code you're getting. You might want to contact support:

it works great on my computer.

Question - Contrast lost in encoded H.264 file No.68465
MikeC  2014-05-12 04:36:21 ( ID:e4cgsdfgpul )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When frameserving from Sony Vegas, I just noticed that an MP4 H.264 file encoded with VMW5 displays changed levels, and contrast is lost =(

Question - Is TMPGEnc a lossless program? No.68463
Ice  2014-05-11 02:41:05 ( ID:jztnupkexg. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am doing research on frameserving and video editing (I am still a newbie, but I want the best quality I can get with the most control)

I came across TMPGEnc, and had plans to frameserve it to another program for personal reasons. I mostly want to achieve the best quality/speed ratio possible, I am currently using vegas, but it sometimes crashes, it is a decent program surely, but I am tired of it crashing during various renders and I see a program that can is stable and reliable. If I edit a video in TMPGEnc, will it be similar to the original piece I used on its result?

My apologies for asking so abruptly, thank you for reading.

tkrave  2014-05-13 09:49:33 ( ID:resxbfmz4s2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 5 is not a lossless editing program. It's primary function is encoding; it will re-encode everything you output.

You can re-encode at the same (or higher) levels and the output might be similar in quality, but it will not be exactly the same.

TMPGEnc MPEG Smart Renderer 4 is a lossless editor; it will only re-encode frames where a change is made (cuts, joins, transition effects, etc.). However, it is only for MPEG video (MPEG-1, MPEG-2, H.264/MPEG-4 AVC) and it can be finicky on what can and can't be smart rendered.

You can learn more about and download a trial here:

Question - Duplicate Vegas/Handbrake results? No.68454
MikeC  2014-05-01 09:52:06 ( ID:fypthrsfspo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm considering purchasing Video Mastering Works 5 (downloaded trial today) as a replacement for a time consuming workflow that was developed by a Sony Vegas user a few years ago to achieve super high quality H.264 encodes. His tutorial made use of Handbrake, a free program that uses the x264 encoder. As I see that VMW5 now utilizes x264, I believe it will be possible to duplicate the configuration settings to achieve the same result.

I'm not very technical when it comes to settings like this, can anyone here assist me with setting up a template to match the x264 settings seen in this video: http://vimeo.com/24640614 starting at 7:42? If I can achieve the same results with VMW5 by frameserving directly from Vegas, then I will buy the software.

Question - Cuda and SLI supported No.68452
scar69  2014-04-30 06:38:42 ( ID:5byiuz8tnvr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello, I have TMPGE VMW 5.4.2.103 and use CUDA settings with my GTX770. Is SLI supported and would I see faster encoding?

Alkermes  2014-05-28 04:02:07 ( ID:l8l.we3au/c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi...

Initially only a graphic card can be used. You can try open 2 instances of Tmpgenc at same time and assing one graphic card to each. I dont know if this work because I have only one nvidia card.

Regards, Alkermes.

Alkermes  2014-05-28 04:06:59 ( ID:l8l.we3au/c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Anyway, I have a GTX650 ti and works fine with recoding 4 video files at same time (CUDA decoding and encoding). With your GTX 770 you dont need to use a SLI ;-)

Regards, Alkermes.

Question - Humming sound in Video No.68449
Carlos  2014-04-26 04:04:43 ( ID:fgyeqirukaf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is there a way to remove a humming noise in my video?

tkrave  2014-04-29 05:23:20 ( ID:resxbfmz4s2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I think there's an audio noise reduction filter. Open the clip editor and go to the Filter tab. You may have to add the filter to your list (can't remember if it's there by default).

Otherwise, you can use a program like Audacity.

Question - Can you apply filter only to a portion of the video No.68432
Gene Ariani  2014-04-14 06:46:36 ( ID:f26/7jfl7lg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is it possible to apply filters to only a portion of the video? In the timeline view only limited number of filters are available.

Thanks

tkrave  2014-04-15 07:27:45 ( ID:resxbfmz4s2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Use the split-clip function to isolate the section you want to apply the filter to, then either:

1) move that section to a new layer and apply the filter to that layer, or
2) apply the filter in the clip editing window.

Gene Ariani  2014-04-15 08:54:51 ( ID:f26/7jfl7lg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks tkrave. I will try as you suggested

Question - automatic video template output No.68431
dblue  2014-04-13 07:43:14 ( ID:mildalq7lec )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

what i mean by automatic is when you put a video file into the timeline "TS" file. when you go to output the file it will make the "TS" file with all my edits and not lose any quality. VideoReDo TVSuite V4 does this but it doesn't have a great editing.

tkrave  2014-04-15 07:39:13 ( ID:resxbfmz4s2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You're talking about lossless editing or "smart rendering". TVMW5 is made for encoding, so everything that goes in will be re-encoded at output.

TMPGEnc Authoring Works 5 and TMPGEnc MPEG Smart Renderer 4 have lossless editing functionality but are limited to specific video formats. You might want to try TMPGEnc MPEG Smart Renderer 4.

Question - .MXF files? No.68410
Eduardo Castelan  2014-04-01 20:14:00 ( ID:cxfjkwqk/zj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The "TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 5" works with files captured in. MXF with Sony Vegas?
I bought a "Intensity Pro - Blackmagic Design" card and would like to use it to capture with Sony Vegas and encode with TMPGEnc! Is it possible?

Thanks.

tkrave  2014-04-04 08:07:22 ( ID:resxbfmz4s2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I don't think mxf files will work in TVMW5 according to the specifications.

Question - Transparent Video Supported? No.68392
DPCrawley  2014-03-25 05:31:35 ( ID:i1qxkgkdgho )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I wanted to use an animation I made in After Effects that has a transparent background for a project in TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 5 but the background isn't transparent when I import the video. Is there something I'm doing wrong or is it just not supported?

tkrave  2014-03-26 06:55:12 ( ID:resxbfmz4s2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I don't think it's supported for videos with transparency.
However, images with transparency can be imported if I remember correctly.

DPCrawley  2014-03-26 10:58:01 ( ID:i1qxkgkdgho )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Yeah I don't think it's supported either but just wanted to make sure.
