Question - tmpgenc settings No.19491
Jules  2002-04-21 04:50:12 ( ID:sbezb30us6n )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am trying to convert avi to vcd but it comes out horrible. I get alot of blocks, blurred and the color seems like there is someone shining a spotlight. I am also trying to get full screen which I read that if you use no margins it is supposed to work but I am also having to crop it to achieve this. I try and change the settings but it seems like its not changing anything at all. I am loading the profile for ntsc and then changing the settings.
Can anyone tell me what the proper settings should be to achieve this?
Also I downloaded a .mpg video and it was great...how do I see what settings were used to encode this?

Jules

well, make sure the original source was good

load the vcd template
load the unlock template
change the vbv buffer size to 224
brighten the picture up a tad (+5 or +10)

Then encode

See what happens

Question - Can you go NTSC/PAL using TMPGEnc? No.19489
Eugene  2002-04-21 02:37:41 ( ID:4lqve4ezqer )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Somebody mentioned stadard conversion. Is that possible with this software. Like going NTSC AVI to PAL AVI or PAL MPEG2?

yes you can.

I have done it all the time although I am in a PAL region.

Just basically load the NTSC/PAL template and encode I guess

It seems as if it a DIVX v5 avi.

Look down, I posted up a no video thread.

If u can't be bothered, here::)

uninstall DIVX v5 codec
install DIVX v4.11 or v4.12 codec
extract the WAVE in Virtualdub
load in the video and the wav in TMPGENC and encode

This should solve the problem.

Try as I have in settings...."Quantize matrix" setting the "soften block noise" to about 80 each. I found that worked and I can use "Motion search percision" to "Motion estimate search (fast)" and it comes out good and encodes 5-7 times faster than "higest quality (very slow)" with a smooth video. I am using Divx DVDrips though.

Question - how to make 2 channel 44100khz audio vcd compliant ??? No.19476
sherlock  2002-04-20 21:10:43 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have been trying to sync up my vidio and audio tracks forever and now I finally got it right but nero says 44100khz 2 channel audio isn"t compliant how do I make it compliant?????any help would be great......

Techno  Home )  2002-04-20 21:17:56 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

well, it should be if u used the vcd template in TMPGENC.

what to do is to extract the audio as wave using virtualdub (making sure it is 44100Hz)

then load this and the video in TMPGENC and encoding it using a VCD temp and burning it in nero!

Techno

sherlock  2002-04-20 21:48:56 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

that is what I did accept I didn"t have to extract the wav cuz it was wav from dvd2avi,but nero says it isn"t compliant audio cuz it is 2 channel...

sherlock  2002-04-21 04:18:06 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I figured it out ,the audio was 3 layer instead of 2,but now the audio just cuts out I have tried 3 different external encoders but the audio still cuts in and out,it seems once you fix one problem another one pops up......

Techno  Home )  2002-04-21 14:41:55 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

try using ez cd-da extracter, it has a converter in it. convert it to MP3 then encode in TMPGENC and it should be fine.

use MPEG tools to merge them together

first load file no1 then file no2 then save them! :)

Make sure u select MPEG2

Techno

William  2002-04-21 13:37:44 ( ID:8tunjh.gjsa )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Whenever I have TMPGEnc merge two MPEG-2 files, there sound an the end of each section is either cut off or warped.

Merging MPEG-2 480x480 29.97fps CQ 100, Layer-2 44100Hz 160kbps files for SVCD production.

Request - TMPGenc's the only solution for Decoding HDTV tp.. but.. No.19469
skylarkx  2002-04-20 18:27:48 ( ID:klq2otarasm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi! There~~
I have faced on the task of converting HDTV MP@HL(1920x1080i) Transport-Stream source files(.tp) to Direct-show Stream as MS-MPEG4, Divx, or MPG, etc..
I found that only TMPGenc opened the .tp stream files successfully with Elecard MPEG2 Video Decoder v. 1.40(alpha) Direct-show filter.

After exporting the .tp to .avi file with TMPGenc, I have encountered with a problem on .avi have no sounds in spite of audio track presence !!

Some times later, I recognized that the .tp files have dual audio track.
as below.. (Mediaplayer with Elecard MPEG2 Video Decoder v. 1.40 alpha)
http://myhome.hananet.net/~skylarkx/myhd01.jpg
http://myhome.hananet.net/~skylarkx/myhd02.jpg

As a result, TMPGenc utilize subchannel audio-track which have no sounds generally in order to make .avi... , and ignores the primary audio-track.

Now, TMPGenc needed,
1. Give audio-track(or device) selection if the source stream has multi-track audio..
or
2. TMPGenc should utilize primary audio-track on HDTV MP@HL Transport-Stream source files instead of subchannel as now.

Would it be possible for next update?
(I'll waiting with all my heart!!)

For reference, I leave HDTV Transport-Stream MP@HL sample file
(Estimated 15MB, running time is about 7sec.. WOW!!!)
