Free talk - No picture when encoding solution No.19462
Techno  Home )  2002-04-20 17:33:01 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi there.

I have taken my time to write this information up for people who are having problems with TMPGENC not encoding video, only sound. The video picture maybe black.

This is because it is a DIVX 5 avi. And DIVX v5 is not compatible with TMPGENC.

To get rid of this problem, do the following:

uninstall DIVX v5

Install DIVX v4.11 or v4.12 (www.divx-digest.com/software)

Then load the avi in TMPGENC and encode.

This should solve the problem

Thank-you

Techno

I have done as you said but there is still no picture. Would the fact that it is an SmR film make any difference?

sometimes.

do u have the SMR codecs installed (just to be safe)?

How do I use TMPGnc to convert from mpg to avi so I can make my file smaller?

Techno  Home )  2002-04-20 16:44:16 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

TMPGENC only encodes from avi to MPEG or MPEG to MPEG.

If u r thinking of encoding to DIVX, use 3.11alpha and use encoders like Virtualdub/nandub/vidomi.

When I try to encode avi files to mpeg using TMPGEnc, the process sometimes freezes. If I try the same file again - then it does the same thing in the same place. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Techno  Home )  2002-04-20 15:21:55 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

there maybe corrupted frames in the video.

use virtualdub to scan the stream for errors.

Question - No Sound........ No.19447

Here's the problem:

I want to encoded the Audio from 48000hz to 41000hz so I can encoded it to a vcd-mpeg... But everytime I have encoded it to 41000hz, there is no sound!!!
What can I do???

Techno  Home )  2002-04-20 12:19:34 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

use something like wavlab to resample/downsample to 44100Hz, always works!

Techno

Techno  Home )  2002-04-20 17:36:12 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

you can also use virtualdub.

open the MPEG/avi in virtualdub

goto audio > full processing mode.

goto audio > conversion and select 44100Hz

Then goto audio > compression and select no compression PCM

Then goto file > save wav and save the audio

Then load this wav and video in TMPGENC and encode

do a little sample first to see if it works. If not then use Wavelab,

good luck

Question - No Picture No.19439
JJ  2002-04-20 09:31:42 ( ID:gmba1v2y8rm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am a newbie, but want to convert avi files to mpeg. I tried to this with Nero but wasn't too happy with the quality, especially with SmR films. I decided to try to use TMPGEnc to this, but when I try to do this after about 10% of the encoding is done there isn't any picture in the Black box in TMPGEnc. When I open the mpg file in Windows Media Player to view it there is only sound. What am I doing wrong, can anyone help TIA.

Techno  Home )  2002-04-20 09:49:09 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

you might have DIVX 5 installed

uninstall DIVX v5 codec
install DIVX v4.11 or v4.12 codec

then encode
there should be video and sound.

Let us know

Got rid of DiVX 5.0 and installed the DiVX4 codecs, but nothings seams to have changed. I have WinXP, will that matter? Does it do the sound first and then the picture afterwards? Please help

Techno  Home )  2002-04-20 18:01:54 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

no, it doesn't matter.

Also, try to increase the avi vfw, avi opendml and the directshow filter to a higher priority in the environment settings.

iceman24  2002-04-30 07:11:36 ( ID:dburnewwlij )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Have a simular problem, can play the MPEG1 file in windows media player, but when I play the burned copy from Nero, I get audio but no video. I have split the current file previously, because Nero recognizes invalid stream and volume, so it re-encodes it again which throws the video and audio out of sync. So the file re-encoded file did play in my DVD, but the split file does not, just audio. Is there something that I can do in Virtualdub to fix the file and reburn it? Here is the specs of the video: Frame size = 352 x 288, 24.00 fp/s, 37642 total frames, and average bit rate of 2246 kb/s. You might see the problem right here, let me know thanks.

Question - How to make VCD's or Super VCD's No.19437

Please help me,
1)In the Project Wizard on step 4, in the cd type drop box, would A NORMAL COMPUTER/MUSIC CD be considered "CD-R 650 MB (ISO)"?

2)I go throught the project wizard and encoded a file. Now that its done encoding, what do I do to it to put it onto a cd that will work in most CD players?

Thanks

Techno  Home )  2002-04-20 09:48:01 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

1) probably

2) what do u mean in most CD players?

are you talking about DVD players?

If your making a VCD then burn it as a VCD as long as you chose to make a VCD using TMPGENC. Make sure that your dvd player supports VCD AND CD-R media!

Question - Sound No.19434
impulse927  2002-04-20 08:37:21 ( ID:aitjvxtmffr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Ok here is the deal, after many of hours I got the mpeg to display in TMPEenc and was happy, went to Easy Cd creator to make the VCD which it does but after making the the VCD I got a great video but no sound. Been trying to figure out why I get no sound on the video.

Also I know there is a way to preview the the video, is there a way to preview the sound.

Thanks

Techno  Home )  2002-04-20 09:46:28 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

no preview with sound...

erm..

I would use nero if I was you but...

try extracting the audio as wave using virtualdub and encode in TMPGENC along with the video.

Then try to burn as VCD and see what happens.

Also, try nero if poss.

If you go to the "audio" tab and click on the settings tab next to "audio edit" there you can play the audio from your movie file and change the volume in the encoded mpeg file, and if you go to the "source range" in the advanced settings there you can see your movie and see your audio in a wave graf by moveing the slider but you can"t hear the audio here.........sherlock

ps: try encodeing just a minute
of your file and see if your audio
is there before doing the whole
movie.....

Sure...
what is your problem?
Search for Avisynth, with this tool you can play from timeline into tmpgenc.

Good help can be found at www.vcdhelp.com or at www.adobe.com support.

Take a look at:
Video Server Plugin v0.93 for TmpgEnc in Premiere plus others
Together with the video server plugin and AVIsynth/AVIWrapper codec, you can use programs with the Adobe Premiere interface (Premiere/FlasK/Xmpeg/DVDx) as a frame server. This is very useful if you want to code your edited video from Premiere or FlasK with an external (MPEG)-encoder e.g. TMPGEnc or Cinemacraft encoder. To achieve this, the plugin creates a small AVI file. The created AVI can be loaded into the encoder as a normal AVI. This resolves the problem of making a time and space consuming intermediate AVI. If you load this small AVI file into an encoder, the client (aviwrap.dll) makes a connection with the plugin. When an encoder wants to read audio or video, this request is passed to the Premiere Video Server Plugin. Instead of reading the data from disk the plugin fetches the audio/video and sends this to the encoder. Link to the Guides pages. The guides are fully illustrated and are excellent for an end user. The product is Free to private users but Commercial users must register. Also development contributions are sought. Visit the Home Page for information on the various other plug-ins available.
