TMPGEnc 2.5 (Free or plus version) BBS [ Sorted by thread creation date ]
I have an avi file which I tried to convert to mpeg on this program so I can burn it on a VCD. When it was done, the audio was the only thing that showed up, and the video was not there. I've read some others with this same problem, but as one of the others, i do not believe this is an older file, as the thing was just released. help would be greatly appreciated.
Starting EMPGEnc for the first time works fine. But now the program creates no output while processing. Processing itself (CPU usage, progress, elapsed and remaining time looks normal). But source position don't change from 00:00:00.
Input is the result from DVD2AVI (.d2v-File). All the programs are running under WinXP.
I use Pinnacle's Studio 7 software for capturing with their DC10 Plus capture card. I finally figured out that the MJPEG that Pinnacle captures with could not be recognized by TMPGEnc without a MJPEG codec installed. I downloaded one from Morgan Mutimedia and voila! TMPGEnc recognized the Pinnacle MJPEG. However, compared to what I was doing the mpeg1 image I get now is far worse than what I was getting by using the Pinnacle MJPEG capture, enocode from MJPEG to Studio DV-avi, then running the DV-avi through TMPGEnc. This adds about four hours to the process. What I want is to take the Pinnacle made MJPEG and run directly through TMPGEnc but the Morgan codec appears to kind of wash the color out and makes everything seem faded. I don't know if this will make sense to anyone here but is there a better MJPEG codec out there that you have had very good results with??? Anyone??

I'm using Dc10plus ver. 1.06 to capture & encode using tmpg 2.53 w/o
any problem.Pinnacle studio 7 using the same mjpeg from ver 1.06 of dc10plus.
Let me know how you capture using S7 & encording with tmpgenc.
Actually it's very easy to solve the problem, you don't need any external software, you have to be sure that TMPGEnc reads your MJPEG avi through the VFW compatibility interface. For that you should increase its priority in Options/Environmental Settings/VFAPI Plugins from -2 to 1. Then your TMPG will read the MJPEG avis through your studio DC10 hardware. Be sure you uninstall all the crappy software MJPEG codecs first.
I have tried to prioritize the VFAPI and it does not work for me no matter what I do. The only way I have had any results was to install a mjpeg codec. then TMPGEnc sees the Pinnacle Mjpeg file just fine. It doensn't make sense to me because without the codecs installed Windows Media player would play the Pinnacle mjpegs just fine so in my mind the codec must be on my machine but for some reason TMPGEnc will not see it no matter what I do.
Here is my current procedure:
I capture using Pinnacles DC10 Plus capture card and their Studio AV 7 software. Studio does a good job capturing using their Pinnacle Mjpeg if your system is configured right. After I edit out the commercials using studio I use Studio's Make Move feature which then allows me to convert the mjpeg several different ways. I can make mpeg1 or mpeg2 but compared to TMPGEnc mpegs they look like crap. I have several AVI options but the only one I have been satisfied with was Studio's DV-avi encoder. It makes an avi that TMPGEnc accepts and I can make a pretty good mpeg1 using the high quality filter with shaprpen edge and simple color correction. I then use Nero to make a VCD from the mpeg.
what I am trying to avoid is the encode to DV. It would save me a 4 to 5 hours if I can get a decent mpeg direct from running the Pinnacle mjpeg through TMPGEnc. Thanks for your help guys!! It is appreciated!

I have installed the trial version of TMPGEnc Plus and now want to go back to just using the free version. However the free version tells me that the trial period has expired and will not run. What do I need to do to completely remove the Plus version so that the free version will work?
how do i make this work i look for a proj to make into an mpeg file but it says .stu is not supported and i cna't save it into any thign else other than an .stu help!!
Have patience with me. I think my I.Q. went down to 49. I did everything that I was supposed to for encoding an AVI to an MPG and burned it with Nero. Everything worked great until I put the CD-R in my DVD player. I said "No Disc"
One submission to this BBS from Techno said that cheaper cd-r's wouldn't work. My DVD player plays all formats of CD, CD-R/RW, MP3, VCD, SVCD, etc.
Is there something else I should be looking for. I know this is not much info, but if you ask me specific questions, I can give you the answer.
Maybe, just Maybe, there maybe a problem with the laser in the dvd player, may have busted for CD-R/VCD but if it plays other VCD's then there is something seriously wrong!
i had the same problem. i had to start the movie, then immediatly pause it. then you cut the movie in two. if you don't start it playing first it won't work. the instructions i had first didn't include that step.
I tried to use TMPGENC - 2.53.35.130 to convert certain asf files into mpeg-1 format. TMPGENC stops responding and hang after completing 25% of conversion. I tried to run TMPGENC in boh Window XP and Window 98 and same thing happens. Can anyone help?
ASF is supported via the DirectShow interface but there seems to be a memory leak in TMPGEnc that prevents it from converting too long files (short ones work ok, depends on the memory you have)
I have 768M RAM in memory. I have tried to convert different asf files with sizes range from 7M to 20M. The program would hung regard of the size of the source file.

and note the locations of the files and the folders they are located in, and then make the proper changes. I don't know if version 2.5 fixes this, but the copy I downloaded was in .zip format, and had no folder extensions.
Some unzip software ignores file/folder structure of ZIP file,
so, in your case, when your software unzipped the file, it broke
file/folder structure, then TMPGEnc cound not refer to the necessary files.
Hi, I have been using TMPGEnc for a bit now and for the first time I have encountered an AVI clip that when I go to convert, will not show any video. The screen is completely black and when I go to preview, I still get no video. But the AVI clip will play under Windows Media Player so I know that there is video.
In a similar post, someone mentioned uninstalling Divx5 and installing Divx 4.11 or 4.12. I did just that (4.12) and still got the same problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I've had this before - what happened with me is that the avi I was attempting to convert had been encoded in an old codec (mp43) - download and install angelpotion codecs or other suitable mp43 codecs (take your pick) - this worked for me. This may be what's wrong with yours.

TMPG will no longer load on my computer, I keep getting this message now "Runtime error 216 at 00002F3C". Can Anyone tell me how to fix this problem? I tried reinstalled it but had the same problem come up.
