Question - DVD settings No.48577
Steven  2003-05-19 02:43:33 ( ID:y9r74tb6bga )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Can anyone tell me what settings I should set the TmpgEnc DVD format for? I have downloaded divx Avi riped movies and what to burn them to DVD.

Thanks

LordBiggness  2004-04-24 06:40:51 ( ID:vdmkwxbf9zo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I too am able to run DVD Author, until I get to the DVD Write Tool....that's when I get "Drive Not Ready" message. I have a Sony Vaio with a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR 104 DVD burner. I too download movies and it was recommended to use this program for DVD burning....am I doing something wrong or is it my DVD burner itself?
PLease help, I'm extremely new at this and Extremely enthused with using more of the capabilities of my PC....

Divx  2003-05-18 13:03:47 ( ID:y9r74tb6bga )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi I've just started using this product and when I creat the chapters in the program and then burn it using Nero. I dont see any chapters or menu's anyone one have any thoughts. I use the standard settings too in creating a DVD in TmpgEnc then use the DVD program. And default setting in Nero.

Thanks Steven

Borgster  2003-05-19 09:41:15 ( ID:5uhceskba7w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi Steven,

Your Problem is NERO, try the setting from www.dvdrhelp.com > HowTo's > Authoring.> "Burn with Nero UDF 1.02"

Good luck,

Borgster.

Baz  2003-05-19 18:11:27 ( ID:ayfjj.q1jxk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Similar problem here.
My first DVD player arrived today and I played my first DVD which I authored with TMPGEnc DVD Author. I set up chapter points but used no menu as there is only one video and there seems little point in making it more complicated to play than necessary. I read the players manual on changing chapters but it didn't appear to work. I was told on another forum that you don't need a menu for the player to recognise chapters. Maybe I just haven't sussed out the player yet, or the chapters weren't included.

Bug report - Is there a 4GB limit ? No.48569
Dr. Strange  2003-05-17 21:09:21 ( ID:hvbecdq7euo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I recognized problems to insert a source mpeg which is greater than 4 GB. Is there a limitation? It should be possible to import a 4,4 GB movie when the DVD-disc has 4,7Gb capacity!

B_Racer  2003-05-17 22:00:56 ( ID:jrnhxvjhlek )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Maximum File-Size for DVD is EXACT 4.37 GByte (4.700.000.000 Bytes, (OK, a couple of Bytes more, but thats not important in this case)).

Dr. Strange  2003-05-18 10:04:50 ( ID:mjsenf9mkej )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

yes, that´s right. But it should be possible to import a file which is larger than this. You can cut commercial advertising from the beginning, from the end and maybe in the middle. And my recordings are often 15 min. longer then the duration of the movie. I want to cut the movie in TDA so that it is not larger than 4,37 GB. In fact, I can even not import a 4,1 GB movie.

Is there anybody else who has problems with files larger than 4GB?

By the way: Of course I have XP and NTFS. It really seems to be a limitation of TDA.

Flepp  2003-05-18 11:08:16 ( ID:kqclpgdjvq6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I had no problems importing m2v files of 4.8 Gb.& more .Then cut out commercials and unwanted scenes.I always use demuxed audio & video files
for importing

Giba  2003-06-05 08:14:15 ( ID:294hlirfjqo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Had no problem importing 5.2 Gb of m2v (generated by TMPGenc), then cut out bits and peaces until it would fit to 4.3 Gb (the label on the DVD says it is a 4.7 Gb which is a joke). My pc is P4, 2Ghz, with XP pro, 2 IDE HardDisks and one 200 Gb Firewire.

Sounds to me like you don't have the appropriate codec. Go to http://www.dvdrhelp.com/ and scroll down to Tools - try installing the DIVX 5 codec.

i have the same problem and i already have divx 5, are there any other ideas?

Hello

First congratulation for the new Authoring software, i tried it and it is my prefered app now because it's fast and easy.

Some more options should make it perfect.

- Add second audio track
- In cutting window possibility to preview with sound.
- Create and modify menu templates.
For the rest keep it easy

Best regards
Flepp

Edge  2003-05-15 15:01:03 ( ID:62gl70uwdak )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I agree with all of the above additions, I have not been able to make myself pay $68 for the software as is but if if tools for menu template creation and audio in the scene cut preview were added along with free upgrades for a determined period of time I would be more than willing to buy it. I have used the software for about 2 weeks making about 15 dvd's and I find it easy to use with decent features but when trying to put in chapter cuts, the lack of audio means I have a lot of trial and error trying to get the cut right.

Nice basic DVD authoring program, but without a built-in burner, it's definitely not worth the money. Ulead DVD Movie Factory blows this away, includes the ability to burn DVDs and create ISO images, and costs less.

Question - dvd author No.48557
mikeacam  2003-05-14 16:13:49 ( ID:g39uhmfsrcm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

this is sort of a multiple question.
i am trying to convert vhs (commercial movie) to dvd on single 4.7 gb disc
avi-tmpgenc-tmpgenc dvd author-dvd
best way to do this?
encode the movie with tmpgenc at exactly the 4.7 gb. best settings to do this? or encode larger file-author-then try to shrink it to 4.7 gb
tmpgenc dvd author locks up every time at 68% completed if file is larger than 4.7 gb. no matter size of file or which movie i encoded.
mikec

Borgster  2003-05-15 07:11:20 ( ID:5uhceskba7w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Mikeacam,

Make sure your systems harddrive has enough space (including SWAP files)and is NTFS. If that doesn't work. Make sure you capture you VHS with for example the XVID codec. (still very good quality)then to MPEG with TMPGEnc. Try the SVCD template, or DVD template, but lower your bitrate, because you can't create a better quality that VCD with a VHS capture, if you take 3000 kb/s is more than enough. Compress your audio (MP2) you will see you can fit 2 or 3 VHS tapes on one 4.7 Gb disc

Good luck,

borgster.

B_Racer  2003-05-16 10:32:10 ( ID:gxmkoa4dlnj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hehe, i'm using Win98 with FAT32! There's no need for NTFS because VirtualDub can produce segmented AVIs and TMPGEnc can load them as a complete Movie.
To Capture with a high compressing Codec is... a dump thing. It lowers the possible quality.
Maximal Filesize for DVD is 4.37 GByte. That's including Muxing-Overhead, so take care to produce smaler sizes.

Borgster  2003-05-16 13:12:43 ( ID:5uhceskba7w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

B_Racer you're right!

The only point i was trying to make is that 4.7GB for one VHS tape capture
is way too much. Should be between 800 Mb and 1.5 Gb. Therefore i suggested to
capture with something like Xvid to get a good quality and low filesize.

Enabling NTFS would help, but indeed you could capture segmented avi's.

I prefer capturing (if your Processor alows you) in Mjpeg, Xvid and then frameserve to TMPG, but if you have enough HD space and your Processor is
fast enough be my guest...

Borgster.

B_Racer  2003-05-16 13:35:06 ( ID:gxmkoa4dlnj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I do my Captures in MJPEG because that leaves me enough PC-Power to do Realtime-Denoising and Realtime-Resizing while capturing. So the Encoding is done very, VERY fast, even using TMPGEnc. My machine is a P4 1.9 GHz, that's fast enough to do things like that.

Question - Audio delayed No.48554
Robbie  2003-05-14 11:10:54 ( ID:jndln8sx8rl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have been trying DVD Author and found the folloing problem. I started of with 4 MPG-1 files. The audio in the original files is perfectly in-line with the video. After adding them into a project in DVD-Author and creating a DVD there is a gap of about 2-3 seconds between audio and video. Does anyone know what could be the problem ?

Edge  2003-05-17 22:18:36 ( ID:yg5.w/6oxqr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I just did my first DVD from mpegs and got the same results you did. If anyone knows what is going on here I would really like to know. All of the disks I made with dvd sources worked perfectly though.

Rich  2003-05-24 00:54:14 ( ID:a4.jcfbbmuj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Just got the same problem, added 8 mpg1 files on to a project, burnt it and it works fine, but the audio is out of sync.

Is this due to the audio being resampled?

Also If you sort out the menus so they can be fully editted then this will be the best authouring software out.

Rich

This is a great tool, making the process of dvb recording and dvd authoring very easy! Works great, no shift between audio and video.
Esp. for dvb recordings it would be great to have more than one audio source allowing more than one language!
Is there a way to cut and save demuxed files (video and (multiple) audio) without muxing?

Bug report - PlayStation 2 No.48552
mnehall  2003-05-13 16:41:27 ( ID:/mn9asa1y42 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

This is a great product!

My challenge is when I play the movie I've created in my PS2 after one of the cuts the screen goes black with green squares all over it. The only way to fix it is to reset the PS2.

When I play the same movie in my standalone Sony it's fine.

When I play the movie in PowerDVD it's fine, but I see a slight glitch in the video that coincides with when on the PS2 the video goes funky.

I'm using Nero with a Pioneer A04 to burn.

Any thoughts? Is there anywhere to send a clip?

Thanks!

Joe  2003-05-13 03:37:04 ( ID:s5tqwvck5wa )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I create my vob's and I play the files using Power DVD software on my computer. I have both audio and video. I burn to a dvd-r and I have video but no audio when I put it in my stand-alone dvd player. I have burned other movies onto dvd-r and they play audio on my stand alone just fine. What is the problem here? By the way, this program is not creating any files in the default video_ts folder, only video_ts folder has the vob files and the .ifo's and .bup's. Please help.

Joe  2003-05-13 03:38:10 ( ID:s5tqwvck5wa )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Sorry I meant no files in the audio_ts folder. Only files in the video_ts folder.

Borgster  2003-05-13 11:28:50 ( ID:5uhceskba7w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

There is supposed to be no file in the AUDIO_TS folder!

I mean, there are very few DVD's that use this option/feature,

Your audio is in the VIDEO_TS directory and in the .VOB file.

Borgster.
