Question - TE25 - TMPG download loads in Picture It Express2000,can't open No.18656
raa8rue  2002-04-11 01:11:34 ( ID:gu4a0ndrqik )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The software loads in Picture It Express 2000. I believe it's not the proper software to open and run TMPG download. Clad DVD also loads the same way. However, Clad DVD and Nero Burning Rom loaded properly into the their own software and running on my computer.

raa8rue  2002-04-11 01:47:44 ( ID:gu4a0ndrqik )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Answered my own question. Although I had a zipfile, WinZip was necessary to download and utilize.

Question - TE25 - Win98 GPF Problem No.18648
ndxhound  2002-04-11 00:20:12 ( ID:eqt8pdx.nqn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am new to TMPGenc and have had the oddest problem. Whenever I select an MPEG to convert (latest is a PAL->NTSC conversion), TMPGenc GPFs as soon as I start the conversion process. If I leave the GPF dialog box alone, TMPGenc keeps doing its thing. I am running on an Athlon 1GHz with 640MB memory. Has anyone else had this problem.

Normally I could live with it, but I am wondering if it is contributing to the problem with the PAL->NTSC conversion having no sound (great picture, though).

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

ndxhound  2002-04-11 01:23:35 ( ID:kp7xoh8pqco )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

As a followup to my question....

The GPF message is:
TMPGENC has caused an invalid page fault in module LMPGAD.AX at 0167:011309F0

Techno  Home )  2002-04-11 08:32:43 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

hm... it should not be a problem doing a convertion. What file are u trying to convert? avi, mpeg?

Techno

ndxhound  2002-04-12 22:21:23 ( ID:eqt8pdx.nqn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am converting an MPEG in PAL VCD format (true blue) to NTSC VCD.

I have tried the same file on two other computers -- a PII 400 and a PIII 500 -- and all works well. I tried turning off the MMX and 3DNow switches...no help.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Ashy  2002-04-13 16:16:50 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You are right it is directly related to the reson you are getting no sound.
I guess the file you are converting is MPEG2 because the error refers to the Ligos audio filters.
Try to remove them, but you must be thorough and then re-install them. If that doesn't work remove them and try some other MPEG2 filters.

ASHY

ndxhound  2002-04-14 23:38:47 ( ID:kp7xoh8pqco )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Ashy,

It makes sense that the GPF occured in the module that handles audio processing. But the root cause of the problem seems to be centered on my Athlon/Win98SE setup. TMPGEnc pukes on *anything* I throw at it. Yet the same files run great on both of two Pentium systems I have tested on. Unfortunately, the Athlon system is my main computer.

I guess there is some conflict between TMPGEnc and the Ligos drivers. My Ligos drivers must have been installed with Ulead DVD Movie Factory. They aren't installed on my PII laptop (TMPGEnc installed, Ulead not installed). I wonder if there is someway to coerce TMPGEnc into not using the Ligos drivers.

Take care.

Hi ..

I wanna know how to encode avi file to divx file ..

I didn't find the divx output extention in your software ...

I hope to answer me as fast as u can ....

Amir

Techno  Home )  2002-04-11 08:31:34 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

TMPGENC does not encode DIVX files.

only avi to MPEG1 or MPEG2.

u may find other encoders, such as vidomi, virtualdub or nandub to do this.

Techno

Ashy  2002-04-11 11:53:22 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Load up the file in TMPGenc you wish to convert and change the settings to the ones you require then click 'File' and choose 'Output to file' from the menu.
Click 'AVI' and in the box that pops up choose where you want to save the file then look to your far right just opposite the 'Video' and 'Audio' boxes and you will just about be able to see the edges of two buttons. The top one is to choose your video codec and the bottom is for your audio codec.

Question - TE25 - sound but no video No.18642
migga  2002-04-10 23:22:06 ( ID:wyjnzrp8toh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm getting sound but a black screen. I'm using the divx 5 bundle pack that I downloaded from download.com. When the encoding finishes, it says successfully completed. Format looks ok, sound it ok, everything is ok but no video. Any help?

Anonymous  2002-04-11 07:58:51 ( ID:nzo9njr3ujf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am having the same problem.

Techno  Home )  2002-04-11 08:30:52 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

DIVX 5 is not supported by TMPGENC!!

uninstall DIVX 5, install DIVX v4.12 codec and then encode in TMPGENC. u should get sound and video.

Question - TE25 - Merge & Cut - Can;t move slider No.18635
GM  2002-04-10 20:37:03 ( ID:lnfwhvaa2fg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

For some reason, when I try to edit an mpeg file for cutting, the slider will not move so I can set the ending markers for cutting.

I'm running the version 2.53 with Windows XP.

verschenkt  2002-04-11 10:28:37 ( ID:wvmxylt2nt6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Have you tried another operating system ?
I have the same problem, the tmpgenc is halting and I have to kill the application with task manager. The problem occurs not under WIN2000 with the exact same application (because tmpgenc.exe is stored on my second hard disk and I´m changing the operating systems with a changeable hd-bracket.
Probably it will be fixed in next version.
Or somebody can tell why and what to do.

ffast  2002-04-11 10:43:23 ( ID:rq73n1voqvj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

This happens because of MPEG decoder you are using.

I have installed PowerDVD on my Windows XP and TMPGEnc is working OK for both MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 cutting/merging.

Dennis  Home )  2002-04-11 08:18:01 ( ID:a1gdtat1r4r )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hmm I don't know if there is a function in Tmpgenc that can CUT away the black bars, the thing is that the movie is probably wide screen from the beginning and thats why they have the black bars. Is there any point in fixing the picture, I wan't to know as well if it is possible.

3:2 pulldown might work ?

Question - TE25 - YUV Files No.18630
Joseph Borg  Home )  2002-04-10 19:10:50 ( ID:xecvqterwij )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi ppl,
I came across video sequences saved on a frame by frame basis with an extension .yuv. Eg. frame0.yuv, frame1.yuv.....frame200.yuv. I am aware that tmpgenc doesn't seem to like these for input. Any idea how I can overcome this problem (maybe .yuv to .bmp conversion...if anyone knows of a program....or some plugin)?

Secondly, does anyone know of a program to split a big mpeg file into exact lenghts eg. 1 file (of say 10000 frames) split as 10 files of 1000 frames each.
Cheers and thanks for everything.
Joseph

Techno  Home )  2002-04-10 19:23:41 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

well, I can answer the second question:

in the settings options, goto advanced. use the source filter. hit the start frame button, then move the frame u wish too stop encoding at, then hit the finish frame button, click ok and encode. I hope this helps.

Question - TE25 - PAL VCD Sound Problem No.18623
Janne  2002-04-10 19:05:36 ( ID:8wboed5ypwh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi!

I copied the VOB files to my harddisk, then used DVD2AVI before using TNPGenc to create the MPEG1 file. Then I had to split the file in two parts to fit on ordinary CD-Rs.After this I used Easy Creator to create the actual VCDs.The resultng CD's works on my PC, but the sound is corrupt when I put them I my Philips DVD player. The sound is not bad, it's just corrupt. Does anybody have any ideas what I did wrong?

An interresting thing is that if I take the MPEG1 files, and insert them into Ulead Mediastudio to create a new set of MPEG1 files, the result works OK in my DVD player, The picture quality is not perfect, but it works.

What does it sound like?

Try to extract the audio as wav using virtualdub, then load this in and the video in TMPGENC. encode a little and see if it works. Make sure the audio sample rate is 44100hz.

Janne  2002-04-10 19:32:53 ( ID:8wboed5ypwh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

There is some very short noise about twice a second, and if you how the sound should be, you can understand the fragments. But again, this is on my DVD player. If i run the VCD on my PC it is OK.It also strange that the VCD from Mediastudio is OK.

Janne  2002-04-10 19:53:47 ( ID:8wboed5ypwh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I think I found the problem. The sound file was at 48 kHz, not 44.1

Thanks!

Question - TE25 - Playing mpeg No.18618
russa  2002-04-10 18:20:44 ( ID:m97bdrek9gl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

After converting .avi to mpeg1 and writing DVD, attempts to play back fail and 'illegal stream format' error message is received by program or, 'unsupported format' received from PowerDVD. Being a neophyte in this area, I am at a loss to understand my problem. Any help for a Beginner?

Techno  Home )  2002-04-10 18:35:46 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

well DVD's are suppose to be MPEG2, not MPEG1, this maybe one reason.

Are you sure that the frames are not corrupted in MPEG1?

What settings did u use in TMPGENC?

Techno

russa  2002-04-10 19:03:03 ( ID:m97bdrek9gl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

...initially I tried mpeg2 and I had the same message encountered with mpeg1, so I thought I would try the lesser resolution.

I have simply used the Wizard default settings for each format i.e. NTSC low-res, 352x240,29.97,48000 and source is non-interlaced 4:3 525-line NTSC 704x480.

I have successfully converted to VCD format and written same which HAS been successfully read using the default settings.

So..

The VCD format was written to a CD...not DVD.

For anyone following this thread: I discovered my own problem. I had recently installed the DVD writer but my motherboard needed a bios update to properly recognize it; it has been reading it as a CD unit, hence my ability to successfully write CD's but not DVD's. No fault attributable to TMPGEnc settings or performance.

Haven't even started and problems already! When I try to open an .avi file to convert I get an "illegal stram format" message! I have all the DivX codecs and have tried this with loads of films that I can all view fine with media player, bs player, win dvd or whatever. What now?

Ktrek  2002-04-10 17:36:29 ( ID:y8fjq8dq2lf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have the same problem using Pinnacle's DC10 Plus capture card and their Studio AV 7 software with all updates. The Pinnacle must have a propietary AVI so I have to use Studio to encode into DV-AVI and then TMPGEnc will read the file and creat an mpeg for me. It seems rediculous that this has to be done since Studio has mpeg conversion but the quality is so poor compared to TMPGEnc's that I seem to have no other choice if I want decent looking VCDs.

Use Nero to burn your (S)VCD directly from your Studio-7 AVI files. Skip the TMPGEnc step.
