Question - TE40 - Installation and licensed on non-internet computer No.63186
Alan  2010-06-06 03:33:23 ( ID:rv5cuuyub3w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Some programs MUST be installed on a computer which has Internet capabilities. Some others can get a License # from the company using another computer and then install the program on their editing computer (which has NO internet capabilities.

So - can TMPG Xpress be installed and a license number applied on an editing computer that has NO internet capabilities?
Many thanks,
Alan

tkrave  2010-06-08 02:51:29 ( ID:rtaw9vhji5c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Yes and no. Yes, you can install it on a computer with no internet, but you will need to connect to the internet every time it needs to validate the license, which it does periodically. It might be once a month, or once every two weeks...I can't really tell what the pattern is. Once it validates, you can disconnect and still use the program.

Question - TE40 - audio drop No.63182
crewe  2010-06-05 17:21:04 ( ID:cdkbznfeu4r )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Im curious to know if anyone else has experienced this issue, and more importantly, if there is a fix for this glitch.
My signal runs from Mini DV to Sony MC 10 DVD burner.
Once I finalaize that disc and and run it through the softwre to create an mpeg 1, I find there are dropouts of audio. They are not long, by any means, just split second drops, but very noticeable.
The mini dv and dvd play fine on their own with no issues.
I've tried three different kinds of discs, but no success.
I jotted down some times when this occured during the playback of one of the the mpeg 1 files; you can see it doesnt appear to be completely random, but still, I have no clue what the problem may be.

Request - TE40 - Encode DVB-T subtitles No.63178
Frank Eivind Rundholt  2010-06-05 05:38:39 ( ID:3negjs/c2jm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It would be nice if TMPGEnc could decode a DVB-T subtitle from a ts-file and hardcode it to a videoencodeced output.

Request - TE40 - More CUDA please!!! No.63175
CreativeControl  2010-06-04 23:49:01 ( ID:62auos1ziuk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

We use TMPGEnc daily and love it. It's the best encoder we have. By far the most important thing we need in the future is more speed! We could use something that's 100 times faster.

Actual CUDA encoding would be top priority for us. Using it for filtering is useless to us as we rarely use filtering.

Using CUDA for MPEG and WMV encoding would be just fantastic. And it would be nice if it worked on the GTX 4XX series :)

Frank Corona  2010-06-05 05:26:53 ( ID:8hqeawkg2br )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

CUDA doesn't even make sense for filtering unless you have a very slow processor....which you wont if you have a GTX480 in your machine. My 6 core 3.2Ghz Phenom II with CUDA diabled is twice as fast at encoding with filtering compared to using CUDA with my 9800GT and the same processor. It's hugely inefficient. Even my 2 core 3.1ghz Phenom II was slightly faster with CUDA disabled. Forget about it when I clock my 6 core machine up to 4.0ghz.

CreativeControl  2010-06-05 23:56:48 ( ID:62auos1ziuk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Exactly. It needs to be applied to the heavy encoding calculations. That would make a difference!

mathewlisett  Home )  2010-07-19 05:28:30 ( ID:medjp4.yoma )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

have to agree, they need to make the cuda work for encoding over rall and not just the filtering.

and they cant exactly say its not posisble

Question - TE40 - TMPGEnc Crashes with Nvidia GTX 470 No.63169
CreativeControl  2010-06-04 06:44:01 ( ID:62auos1ziuk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm using the latest TMPGEnc on a WinXP32 system. I recently added a GTX 470 and now when I load TMPGEnc it crashes badly when loading the cuda.dll file. I don't have cuda activated in the program but it still crashes.

I'm using the 175.75 drivers but I've tried others and none work.

Has anyone else seen this? Is there any fix?

Pete  2010-06-04 09:19:48 ( ID:3iyqd2admin )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Rename NVCUDA.DLL (Ex. NVCUDA.ORG)

C:\Windows\system32\nvcuda.dll

If you have Win Vista 64 or Win7 rename nvcuda.dll in SysWOW64 too. Then it runs fine.

Question - TAW4 - Navigation Tool Window No.63160
Stephen Milward  Home )  2010-06-03 17:29:48 ( ID:elu76drr0zn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi,
I am unable to see the Time and Frame Number options windows from the Navigation Tool window, as described in the Help section.

What is described as the Jump Tool in Help I see as the Navigation Tool.

Could anyone please help?

Thanks,
Steve

tkrave  2010-06-05 07:59:54 ( ID:rtaw9vhji5c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The Navigation Tool can be accessed in the Cut-edit window. While in the Cut-edit window, press Ctrl + J to open the Navigation Tool or select it from the Menu button (the top-right button in the row of twelve buttons at the bottom).

It was called the Jump Tool in TMPGEnc DVD Author 3, but it's called the Navigation Tool in Authoring Works 4.

Question - TE40 - Convert QTRef to Mpg2 with hardware leadtek or canopus No.63158
Giannis pass  Home )  2010-06-03 14:57:17 ( ID:oym/mr6d9fj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello,
my name is John and i am from Athens, Greece.
I am interesting to convert QTRef from Avid to Mpg2 for dvd or Bluray.
Is it possible to use the Leadtek PxVc1100 or the Canopus Firecoder Blu?
These two cards can accelerate any file conversion, that TmpEnc can handle?
Looking forward to your reply
Thanks

Frank Corona  2010-06-03 22:21:31 ( ID:8hqeawkg2br )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The Spursengine cards will accelerate MPEG4 & MPEG2 encoding/decoding but will rely on your CPU for any other format and the audio portion of the video. I have one for sale, including the TMPGEnc & Spursengine plug-in license, if you're interested. I just got a 6 core processor and it's able to handle things well enough that I dont need the spursengine card anymore. The spursengine card is still faster though.

giannis pass  2010-06-03 23:32:59 ( ID:aepldlxpink )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks for the reply.
Just a minute, i need a clear answer.
I have QTRef files (Sd and HD) and i need to convert them, to mpeg2.
Is it possible with this card? (i mean faster than Cpu).
Thanks

Frank Corona  2010-06-04 02:21:59 ( ID:8hqeawkg2br )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

What is QTRef? Is it MPEG2 or MPEG4? If it is one of the two it will be accelerated on decoding. Are you converting that QTRef file to an MPEG2 or MPEG4 format in an MPG or MP4 container? If so it will be accelerated on encoding.

giannis pass  2010-06-04 02:55:56 ( ID:aepldlxpink )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

QTRef is a Quick time file or .mov file.
And this type of files i need to convert to mpg2.
is it possible?
Is it possible to try it?
Thanks Frank

The trial contains the SpursEngine plug-in trial, so yes, you will be able to test it before you buy.

Question - TE25 - "Invalid File - Please Reinstall" No.63151
Brent  2010-06-03 04:20:08 ( ID:ulehrpetxcc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I just downloaded and installed TmpGenc 2.525.64 from http://www.tmpgenc.net/en/e_download.html

I extracted the files and when I tried to run TmpGenc.exe I get the error message "Invalid file = please re-install". So I downloaded the file again, extracted the files, and the same thing happens.

Is the current TmpGenc download file corrupted?

TIA
Brent

Question - TAW4 - Skip ahead to Chapters Divx Ultra No.63149
halfpipe  2010-06-02 23:12:31 ( ID:uggl1b16g8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello and thank you for the previous answer.
Having authored a Divx Ultra project which contained chapters and then played on a set top player, skip ahead does not function. only start, stop and ff are possible.
Can the user skip to chapters chapters?
thanks

tkrave  2010-06-08 03:14:21 ( ID:rtaw9vhji5c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Not really sure. DivX Ultra is a little different from DVD, so that may be one of it's differences. I'll try to test this out myself.

tkrave  2010-06-09 02:26:17 ( ID:rtaw9vhji5c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

My set-top DivX Ultra player is on the fritz so I can't properly test a disc. But playing it with the software DivX Player, I can definitely jump to a certain chapter so the ability is there.

Question - TE40 - 25 fps FLV to NTSC DVD file conversion No.63142
am_dew  2010-06-02 03:14:55 ( ID:5naf9/4evxn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have a 25 fps FVL file that I want to convert into a NTSC DVD compliant MPEG file. I am concerned about the audio being out of synch on the converted file. How does TMPGEnc handle te audio when converting form a 25 fps source to a 29.97 fps output file? Thanks.

am_dew  2010-06-02 03:30:12 ( ID:5naf9/4evxn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I meant to say "I have a 25 fps FLV file.."

tkrave  2010-06-02 10:39:19 ( ID:rtaw9vhji5c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It *should* convert it fine, but I believe there have been cases where the audio is out of sync.
You can download the trial and test it out yourself if you want.

am_dew  2010-06-03 00:08:41 ( ID:5naf9/4evxn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks. I have a copy of the program and tried this last night. The audio did get out of synch however I also edited (cut) out the first hour from the source FLV file, which in itself should not have introduced synch errors as I've done that before successfully with other sources. But, there also seems to be something wrong with the first frew seconds of the source FLV file though, because it plays very oddly, so perhaps that is causing the synch issues, not sure.

Also, and not sure if this has anything to do with it or not, but TMPGEnc Xpress thinks the source FLV file is 25 fps but MediaInfo (http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net) thinks it's 29.97 fps. What affect does changing the source's frame rate under 'Clip Properties' in TMPGEnc Xpress have on the output?

am_dew  2010-06-05 04:07:07 ( ID:5naf9/4evxn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Update...

Using TMPGEnc Xpress 4.0 I converted the entire source FLV file to MPG and the audio and video in the output file are a long way out of synch...the audio is significantly shorter than the video.

If I play the source file in a FLV player, all is fine. What is really odd is that I also used FLV file and cut it so that I would end up with a 75 minute section in my MPG output file. The MPG video came out perfect but the audio for that 75 minute section of video is only 71 minutes long in the MPG output file! How odd is that?!?! I also tried outputting the same exact 75 minute video segment to a WAV file and the WAV file is 75 minutes long but the last 4 minutes of it contains audio that immediately follows the desired video segment.

Another thing I tried is capturing the audio "live" while the 75 minute segment was playing and the WAV file that resulted is only 71 minutes long. How can the video supposedly be 75 minutes but the corresponding audio only be 71 minutes? I would bet that the audio length is correct but something is throwing off the video time.

There appears to be a significant difference between the audo and video information contained in the FLV file, or at least TMPGEnc does not keep them in synch for some reason.

Any ideas or comments welcome.
