I've posted on this before, but am still having a problem. I have isn't Basic x64 and TMPGEnc Authoring Works 4.0.6.28 It has worked flawless for me for the last few months, until now. All of a sudden after I set up my options in "Output" which included having the writer settings at maximum, when I click start, it runs for a few seconds then I get an error message that says "Access is denied (error code 0x80070005)"
Luckily I poked around and discovered that, by setting my writer settings from Maximum to 16, that it would work, but lately even doing that gets an error message, but I've found that by hitting start again everything works fine and my burn gets done. Still I get those initial error message every time.
I don't know why this is happening now after all of these months. I haven't changed anything in Windows that I think would affect DVD burning. I did Google this and may people say the error means that the files are in use by another program, but I don't see how that could be it.
I have had both Nero and Ashampoo burning software installed for awhile too along with TMPGEnc but they used to work fine together. By the way this also happened when I was using version 4.02.14.
I just upgraded to version 4.0.68 but when I start the application I get an error message that says "This application has failed to start because QTCF.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."
I'm assuming that this is referring to Quicktime, but that's odd because I do have Quicktime installed!
Duh!! I fixed the problem. I don't know why I don't try to solve before I post! Anyway ran across an article that said to download the download the dll and put it in the System32 folder, which I did and everything works fine now.
May be a silly question, but as you can set the output size of a DVD, would it be possible to create a 50gb DVD and burn it to a BD-DL? Has anyone tried this?
Technically, it would still be a blu-ray disc since you have to start the project as a blu-ray project in order to use the 50gb output setting, but yes, since DVD compliant MPEG-2 falls within the blu-ray specs, you would be able to put 50gb worth of DVD quality footage on one BD-DL disc.
Created bluray discs fine without problems, but my first attempt at a DL disc seemed to go fine until I looked at the output folder. I set output size to 50gb and it created OK, but just before burning I noticed the size of folder was only 38gb. Shouldn't this folder be close to 50gb?
When you set the output size to 50gb, it doesn't mean it will always be that big, it just means it won't go over 50 gb. If you have lots of content that would go over 50gb, it will adjust the output settings so that it will fit within the 50gb limit.
You most likely don't have enough content to reach 50gb, and/or your bitrates aren't high enough to reach the 50gb limit.
Ah, I see. Some people have reported that the transcode feature makes the files too small instead of getting as close to 50gb as possible. I'm guessing its calculations aren't very refined. You might be better off adjusting the bitrates manually (in the Source stage-->track settings) until it's just under 50gb and selecting "none" as the output size.
Thanks for the help TK. Tried the way you suggested and it worked. Used the 51gb of video and did not set an output size, then I reduced bit rate in one of the poorer quality videos bringing it down to just under 50gb. Created and the final folder was 49gb.
Just out of curiosity I tried another 25 BD project. Used 26gb of video and set output to 25. The final folder ended up 19gb. So I tried again, without setting output level, just reducing bit rate on one until I reached the 25 mark, and it worked fine, the final folder was just under 25 - perfect for the disc.
It seems that adjusting the rates manually is the best way to go - if you let the program do it then it reduces them too much. Once again, thanks.
I've got a brand-new Windows 7 64-bit, Intel Quad core i7 processor, 12 GB memory.
Install the latest version of DivX Pro and the latest version of TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress.
I convert a MPEG2 into DivX using Home Theater Profile, medium quality, MP3 sound using the standard profile with XPress for DivX conversion resulting file will play just fine In Windows Media Player as long as the extension is ".DivX". If I take the convert and rename it with a ".AVI" extension then I get no sound and sometimes video plays at high speed. Rename the file back into a ".DivX" and it plays just fine.
I don't know if the problem is with XPress, DivX, Windows, Windows media player or what but I'm posting messages everywhere I can think. Posted something on DivX forums three days ago and I've got no replies. Thought I would try here.
It is a problem of codecsIt can be a porblema of codecs, or a problem with the container format, or a problem with video player you're using. Although in theory. Divx and. Avi is the same.
surely, is a problem of codecs. Have you installed any codec pack? If so uninstall everything and reinstall the divx codec only. However, Windows 7 does not need the divx codec to see movies in AVI format. Just need the divx codec to see movies that are mkv/h264/AAC format.
Anyway, in tmpgenc, in the preferences menu you can choose the extension AVI (DIVX instead of leaving the default). Try again to see if it works.
Cordialment
PS I understand that your problem is dealt only changing the file extension.

I have the same problem now and then.
There seems to be some conflict with TMPG and the anti-virus program I run.
You could try shutting down internet access (if any) and disable any anti-virus program before loading TMPG and see if that makes a difference.
I know that I couldn't load the latest version of Authoring Works 4 with the anti-virus running. A suggestion on this forum was to reformat the hard disk. However, once I disabled the anti-virus the program installed immediately.
When I have the anti-virus running concurrently, it takes up to 5 minutes to get to the project screen on Authoring Works 4. Occasionally it will stall as you describe in your question. If I disable the anti-virus program before I load TMPG it gets to the project screen very quickly. Then I enable the anti-virus progam once TMPG loads.
I hope that this helps. Perhaps the gurus in the forum have some insights on how to manage the conflict between the anti-virus and TMPG.

Anyone try this? It definitely seems better than the free version. I like the video comparison feature. It feels like iTunes for your video files. I wish there was H.264 output for people who don't have CUDA though.
Yes, I have bought it, installed it, but won't start ! I have tried many times re-installation. I have good PC and my os is Windows 7. Have alle updated drivers.
The "light" version of the program works fine, but TMPGEnc KARMA..Plus won¨'t start. Have sent for support-help, but no helps.
I've installed trial version of TMPGEnc KARMA..Plus (TMKP_Trial_1.0.2.30_setup_en.exe) but I failed to launch the application.
I tried to launch it on PC having the following configuration:
Windows 7
Core 2 Duo E8400, 2Gb RAM, ASUS P5K-E/WiFi, MSI 8800GT 512Mb
My PC was connected to Internet.
I got a message that application was stopped and here is detailed information:
Name of the problem: APPCRASH
Application Name: TMPGEncKarmaPlusTrial.exe

I have much of the same problems! I tried the free version first and was happy with this, so I wanted the extra features in the full version. I even checked the Compatibility Chart to see wether Win7 64-bit was supported, and it was supposed to, but nothing happens when I try to open the program. This is rally a bad thing now that the jump to 64-bit versions is here with Win7...!
I want to make custom buttons. What size are they? Can I create a .jpg or .gif and then save in the \Program Files\Pegasys Inc\TMPGEnc Authoring Works 4\Template\Button directory?
The best way is to use photoshop to create your buttons and use the Menu Item Tool (Start stage-->Advanced Tools-->Menu Item Tool-->Create a button item) to import the .psd file make a custom button set.
The size of the buttons can be any size, but you should make them bigger rather than smaller so they don't get pixelated if you resize them in the menu editor.
All the buttons should be in one .psd file, each on a separate layer. Read the help file for how to name your layers in photoshop so the menu item tool knows which layer is which button.

I have TMPGEnc Authoring Works 4. I want to set my DRM to play in any country. Can this be done? How is it done? When I sell my DVD through my website I don't want to have to find out which region the customer is in.
DRM is not supported by TAW 4, which means your DVD's will not be encoded into any region code hence they will be played in any country. Keep in mind though that your DVD's will not be copyright protected.
Hi all,
i install TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress on my workstation and see: when i encode avi file (1440×1080) to wmv file (720p)then TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress only use 4 logical Processors on CPU Core i7 (and CUDA performance: 20%)
My workstation:
- mainbroad: P6T Deluxe V2
- CPU: Core i7 920 @ 2.67GHz
- Display Card: Geforce GXT 280 (CUDA is supported)
- Harddisk: 4TB RAID 0 (4 disk)
- windows: xp pro 32 bit
how to TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress can run 8 logical Processors. can you help me?
Thanks.
Did you make sure and enable CUDA in the program options? Using latest drivers? If you turn on CUDA in the program options, it should ask you to restart or something like that, to do a performance test (or warn you it will do it on the next restart?).
