How to convert files to mpeg1 by selecting more than one at a time?
Is it possible to convert many?
Do I have to do them one by one ?

I know this will probably get ignored by admin as they usually do, why is it I cannot post on this site unless I access it through a proxy?
I have posted on this site for years and now all I get is 'There is an error in your article'
Reason: 'Restricting it'

'Restricting it'???

What the hell for. Sort it out or lose another valued member or give me a reason why?

Question - TE25 - QTReader and Quicktime 7 No.43465
tonyfox  2005-10-13 19:18:28 ( ID:dcp3cik6wac )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi

Does anyone know if QTReader.vfp works with Quicktime 7? I have previously successfully encoded QT ref movies (exported from Avid Xpress dv) with TmpgEnc 2.5 Plus. But no success since installing Quicktime 7 Pro. When I try and load a QT source file (either a ref file or a normal file with media)I get a message "can not open or unsupported".

Any suggestions gratefully received

ashy  2005-10-13 21:03:48 ( ID:i/lxpysjv4o )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Forget using that old plugin and install 'Quicktime alternative' instead. It's a directshow codec that will work in any directshow compatible program and is much faster than the QTreader.vfp.

tonyfox  2005-10-14 12:47:41 ( ID:dcp3cik6wac )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks Ashy

I've tried installing "Quicktime alternative" already. I removed the QTReader.vfp file from tmpgenc and made the Directshow reader top priority in the vfapi window but still no joy.

Any thoughts?

ashyx  2005-10-15 13:20:35 ( ID:nkgkahydadl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Try and open the QT file in AVISYNTH first and then frame serve it to TMPG. Should work then.
TBH I've not used Quicktime pro 7, but I've used 6 and it works perfectly in TMPG with the QT alternative codec.

tonyfox  2005-10-17 14:30:39 ( ID:dcp3cik6wac )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks Ashy

I'll try it and post a follow up

Teriyaki  2005-10-21 07:40:28 ( ID:dobue5yebuk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Are there any extra steps after installing "Quicktime Alternative" that need to be done in order for TMPGEnc to recognize it?

I, too, have not been able to encode QT Ref files after installing QT 7 Pro, and it's really frustrating. I've resorted to re-installing v6.

Is there a way to use QT7 without avisynth ?
(and without QTreader.vfp because it crash at the end of each encoding)

Question - TE25 - How to use Dual-CPU for TMPGEnc (Free Version) No.43462
Charles  2005-10-12 04:00:49 ( ID:fj7r3yohn2. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi, All,

I have justed installed the TMPGEnc v2.5. When I execute the program, it failed because of the CPU, it reported that I have to set the CPU something, but I don't understand. I am using a Dual-core CPU Pentium D. Before, it executed perfectly in my Single-core CPU. Could anyone help?

Thanks
Charles

ashy  2005-10-13 21:22:55 ( ID:nkgkahydadl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is it saying something about the CPU being changed?
It usually does this the first time you run it after installing a new CPU, but should correct itself the next run.

Try deleting TMPGEnc.ini from the TMPG folder and then run the program again. If you still get a problem try messing with the CPU options. Option>enviromental setting>CPU

When will Tsunami DVD Author Pro be available at retail in the U.S.A. It was promised last month. I can buy Tsunami Author 1.6 now, but I want the pro version because it cuts inside the GOPs and it will accept all of my video source files........the additional features are nice also, but not a factor in my decision of which one to buy.

Question - TE25 - sound not matching video No.43457
geemayb  2005-10-05 04:32:30 ( ID:qqy7fcceo5h )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am using TMP plus 2.5. I usually use Virtual Dub 1.6 to extract the wav and use that file when converting. I recently did this and the sound in the video was way off. Keep in mind the sound matched exactly when I played the avi file with the Windows Media Player and Win DVD. I extracted the wav (after converting to 44100) again and again and tried all different settings up to -10000 because the wav file was too slow. I alway check to see that there is no compression. Then I tried using Gold Wave but it did the same thing. I even tried using the audio gap correction feature in TMP but it did nothing. As far as I know I have all the codecs installed and I have the AC3 decompresser. Below is the info for the file I'm trying to convert.

VIDEO
Frame size 608x256 23.976
Decompressor Xvid Mpeg-4 Codec
Data Rate 752 kbps .61% overhead

AUDIO
48000Hz
Channels 2 Stereo
Compression MPEG Layer-3 Codec (proffesional)
Data Rate 135 kbps 5.6% overhead

Any help would be appreciated.

Does the AVI file play correctly in Virtualdub?

It seems to me some sort of skew has been added to the AVI to sync it with the audio. Demuxing the audio to a wav can remove this skew and causes the audio to desync.

Convert the audio to a wav as normal with Virtualdub then reload this wav into Virtualdub as the audio source for your AVI.
Now use the audio skew correction to match up and sync the video and audio.

Once matched, re-save the wav again and this time it should be in sync with your video without the need for any skew corretion. You can check it by loading it as your audio source in Virtualdub.

geemayb  2005-10-07 01:40:30 ( ID:qqy7fcceo5h )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Yes, it plays correctly in Virtual Dub but when I convert the wav to 44100 and use it for my audio file in TMPGEnc it doesn't match. How do you load a separate video and audio file using Virtual Dub?

chillysalsa  2006-09-23 16:15:28 ( ID:ksl8j7dtw7o )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You have to use VirtualDubMod to correct for the time difference.

Open the original in VirtualDubMod

Streams> Stream List > Demux the original audio and save as MP3

Convert the MP3 > WAV using Winamp or whatever

Open the original in VirtualDubMod and add the new WAV stream, and deactivate the original compressed audio track, Go to Video>Frame Rate > Change so Audio and Video match

Then Video > Direct Stream Copy

and Save As new AVI file that has the Synch'ed the WAV audio correctly.

Bug report - TE25 - Tmpgenc 2.5 Plus crashing No.43452
rrfrankie  2005-10-03 20:40:58 ( ID:3sm343rlue2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I've been using Tmpgenc Plus for a couple of years now. Normally encode OT ref mov files to mpeg2 (have installed QTReader.vfp). Recently had to reinstall Tmpgenc 2.5 Plus and since then whenever I try to import a mov file into Tmpgenc 2.5 Plus the program hesitates and then crashes. It will encode other types of files but no longer will except mov files. Anyone experience this problem?

Re above post: I am running Windows XP on Pentium 4 PC

ashy  2005-10-03 21:57:20 ( ID:i/lxpysjv4o )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Forget about using the QTreader.vfp it's old hat and very slow.
Download and install Quicktime alternative 1.62. It should solve your problem as long as you have Directshow as top priority in the VFAPI plugins.

rrfrankie  2005-10-03 22:09:13 ( ID:3sm343rlue2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks for reply. I use Avid DV Xpress and I just solved my problem - by unchecking USE AVID DV CODEC when I export QT ref. I'll download newer version of QTreader.

ashy  2005-10-04 19:48:37 ( ID:i/lxpysjv4o )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It's not a new version of Qtreader. It's a QT directshow codec that allows any directshow compatible program to decode QT files and therefore works much better and faster.
