I am trying to convert a movie i have downloaded from Shadow Movie Realm. When i try to open any movies to convert them with TMPGEnc it says the movie cannot be opened or is unsupported. what is the problem?

I had the same trouble, this is what Minion told me to do:

Have you tried Raiseing the Priority if the "Direct show File Reader"??Go to "options" to "Enviromental Settings" to "Vfapi Plugins" and raise the "Direct show" to "2"...

It worked for me, good luck.

Hi, I am using TMPGEnc 2.57 plus, with a valid registration #, but I try to load mpge2 file i got message saying that cannot open or not supported! can anyone help? thanks

The MPEG2 feature refers to encoding and not decoding. You will need one of the MPEG2 codecs listed on the Pegasus site.

I am trying to convert a divx .avi to an mpeg that I plan to burn to a VCD. I split the .avi into a video and .wav file. When I try to use TMPGEnc 2.59.47.115 to make the mpeg, I get the error "....wav", can not open or unsupported. The .wav file plays just fine in Windows Media Player, WinAmp, etc., so I don't have any idea what the problem is.
Any ideas?

are u sure its a wav file? "save wav" in virtual dub does not guarantee its a uncompressed wav. U must select full processing mode for audio in virtual dub and also select no compression(PCM) under compression..or its will just be in whatever audio formatt it was in in your avi...

Every time I tried to convert an avi to s-vcd, when TMPGEnc reached 50%, I got this error "stream read error" !!!!

I AM DOWNLOADING THE PANASONIC MPEG ENCODER & THE HONESTECH MPEG MPEG ENCODER HOW DO THEY STAND UP AGAINST TMPG?

How do they stand up Well they don"t stand up at all, they don"t even get on there knees..They Both Suck really badly..Panasonic is the better out of the two but they both aren"t even close as good as tmpgenc..

I tried to convert this one file, and the projected mpeg was much larger than it should be. Also, the sound doesn't come through. Is it possible that the file is protected?

Oh nvm. i used virtual dub to take out the wav and then created a new thing. whoopee....

i have 2 mpeg files. how can i make one file out of this 2 files?

If they are Both exactly the same you Can join them with the Mpeg tools "Merge & Cut"...

Say I cut one mpeg into two. Are these two new files recompressed?

What do you mean Re-Compressed?? The are exactly the same as the file you Cut...

Sorry, I'm used to unix programs--which recompress each file. Files split w/ tmpeg are the same quality of the original? I guess that was my original question.

I doubt even Unix programs would need to recompress the file either.

The cutting is done at a binary level. So any operating system should be able to cut without re-compressing.

tryng 2 use tmpgenc says cant load p3 package.dll when i pess start wot does this mean and how do i get round it

All the files that come with tmpgenc have to be in the same folder and not sitting on your desktop...

MY TRIAL PERIOD HAS ENDED IS IT POSSIBLE THAT THIS IS WHY I AM HAVING THIS PROBLEM THE FILES I AM TRYING WERE TESTED BEFORE WITHOUT A PROBLEM.

If the trial has ended then you can"t encode to Mpeg2 anymore But you should be able to encode to mpeg1/VCD forever...have you tried raiseing the "Direct show"???

When I try to open a DVD2AVI project file, it says "cannot open or unsupported"... I've formatted my PC last week... and after that I couldn¡­t load the DVD2AVI project¡­s into TMPGEnc (as I made before).

Do you know how to solve this?

Did you copy DVD2AVI.vfp into the TMPGEnc-Folder?

I am following this DVD2DVD guide (http://www.digitalforums.com/dvd2dvdr/intro.htm)
I am to the step where I amn using TMPGEnc and the guide is telling me this process should take at most 6 hours.... It's gone for 9 hours and the project is only 2% done. What can I do to speed this up??? Is it really this hard to recreate DVD's????

Since the Link you posted doesn"t go anywere I Don"t know what method they got you useing to Make a DVD Backup..And the speed of the encodeing depends on the speed of your computer and You will have to have a Very fast computer to encode a DVD To a DVD in 6 hours especially with Tmpgenc which is one of the slower encoders arround..The correct method Involves Ripping the Vob file to your DRive and then useing DVD2AVI to extract the audio and make a D2V frame server file then useing Tmpgenc to encode the D2V and the Audio to a Mpeg2 file for DVD..If your Instructions have you useing a Differant method than the one i basicly explained then I would consider useing a Different method...
