Question - TE25 - Colour Problems No.23031
scratchie77  2002-06-10 03:09:47 ( ID:yy0ncampghr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Im fairly new to this so this is possibly a simple fix. I have 2 avi's im trying to convert to mpeg. One is a divx rip, the other a plain avi. When i convert the files the movie will gradually turn purple and then go back to normal again. It does this through the whole movie, its still watchable but i thought i could get better quality than that. It definately dosent happen on the originals. I have tried all of the vcd templates but they all do the same thing. I wouldnt have a clue which settings to play with so i have left them alone.

Any help at all would be great thanks

Minion  2002-06-10 03:23:42 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

That discoloration is usually caused by haveing the "Angel Potion Codec" in you machine, what you have to do is get rid of the "Angel Potion Codec" and get a different replacement codec if you have to....this should solve your problem cuz it is quite common with that codec.....

scratchie77  2002-06-10 03:26:44 ( ID:yy0ncampghr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Yep, i have that codec on my machine, ill take it off and have another go. Thanks heaps

Remove angel potion codec and install DIVX 3.11 alpha.

Question - TE25 - Help me please No.23028
william  2002-06-10 01:16:26 ( ID:resa41uncar )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When I use the TMPG to convert a multimedia file, I got an error message
"The resolution of the video is illegal....the window size needs to be set between 8x8 and 4088x4088....the width and height of the window needs to be multiple of 8".

How can I solve this problem? How can I resize the window?

Can any kindhearted fellow help me out?

Thanks in advance,
William

Minion  2002-06-10 03:09:28 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You have gotten this error because you have chosen a incorrect resolution for your mpeg, mpeg only supports resolutions that are divisible by eight, but I think that your dvd player will only play mpeg"s with a resolution divisible by 16..If you would have loaded a template you would have had it set to a legal resolution, so what you have to do is change the resolution, go to "settings" and under "size" at the top change it.I don"t know why it was set to a illegal resolution, the only way it would do that is if you set it to a illegal resolution or your avi file has a illegal resolution and you didn"t load any templates....

Thanks a lot, Minion, yes, the problem has been solved when I use your recommendations. Thanks again.

Bigmack2000  2002-06-10 00:32:06 ( ID:5fbxkaljy7a )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have set the task priority to normal for cpu usage and my cpu is running at 100%. My cpu temperatures have increased 7C since I started to encode.

The task priority option drains my entire cpu no matter what setting I set it to. I have tried them all. It reduces my system to a crawl.

System Specs:
AMD 1800+
512 PC2100 PC2100
Maxtor 80 Gig 7200 RPM HD

Minion  2002-06-10 02:57:49 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I think tmpgenc is made to suck up all your resourses while encodeing, if it didn"t it would take forever to encode,I have used tmpgenc on my 800mhz celeron at home and on my work pc which is a dual p4 2.0ghz with 2gb-ddr-ram ,and it sucks up all my resourses on both systems accept I have some ram left over on my work pc, and I can surf the net while encodeing but it still runs at 100%..You cant really do much while encodeing and if you try it can cause errors in tmpgenc...

what can convert format "MP43" (Mirosoft High Speed MPEG-4V3) to .av ore something ells?

Minion  2002-06-10 02:45:16 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Tmpgenc shouldn"t have a problem with mpeg4, mpeg4 is basicly the same as divx, you just need to have the proper codec installed on your machine...What problem are you haveing encodeing mpeg-4????

Question - TE25 - Installation No.23022
Troy  2002-06-09 23:39:09 ( ID:kqeswzcpkao )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Just downloaded TMPG..unziped it..having trouble setting it up

Minion  2002-06-10 00:03:38 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I guess it would help if you told us what trouble you were haveing?and there is no installation you just un-zip it and and double click the "exe" file,so if that don"t work try re-downloading the program but don"t use any download managers cuz they cause problems sometimes when downloading....

Question - TE25 - Merge&Cut problem No.23010
Michael  2002-06-09 20:11:58 ( ID:hk9owqwsmll )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

After encoding an AVI file into SVCD I want to cut it into two pieces for the right cd-r size.

My problem: I tried several movies to test, TMPGEnc splits the wrong time length, every time somthing between 400 and 500 seconds. It ignores my settings. For example if I set it to start 00:00,00 and end 45:00,00 - TMPGEnc encodes 451 seconds. If I leave it at 00:00,00 / END ... TMPGEnc encodes the same time... and so on...

TNMPGEnc Version 2.54

Is this a bug?

Michael  2002-06-09 20:14:20 ( ID:hk9owqwsmll )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have this problem only with files I encoded with TMPGEnc myself, if I use other SVCD files to test, it works!

ASHY  2002-06-09 20:18:15 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When you set the start and end times you have to click the { } buttons.
I.E. Select the start position then click { Select the end position then click }

The part that will be cut is the the part indicated in blue.

Michael  2002-06-09 20:22:58 ( ID:hk9owqwsmll )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi,

the "{" / "}" fields are deactivated. I can only type the time manually into the "Range" fields!!

ASHY  2002-06-09 20:27:27 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

This is probably what the problem is. It seems like it's not allowing you to set the start and end points.
I would advise you to totally delete TMPG from your system and download it again, this has been known to solve many unusual cases such as this.
If that doesn't work try installing an MPEG2 codec such as this one.

Michael  2002-06-09 20:44:30 ( ID:hk9owqwsmll )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I just re-installed it, same problem... I don't think it's the installation. It works with files I haven't encoded myself. TMPGEnc just ignores my time settings with svcd mpeg2 files I encoded with it before.

ASHY  2002-06-09 21:31:09 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Have you altered the GOP structure in anyway and does this only happen with MPEG2 files?

Is it possible to have TMPG shutdown your system after it finishes encoding ??

ASHY  2002-06-09 17:50:47 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Set up movie to encode then goto File>Output to file>MPEG file then save. Now check the shutdown box that will appear in the main window.

Question - TE25 - TMPGEnc doing only the half job No.23000
CaptainTobi  2002-06-09 16:53:19 ( ID:1vxod1c3a1r )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi,

When I split the Video from Audio, TMPEnc finishs the job at the half of the file, but without any message. 100% done, but only half of the file. Whatswrong here?

NewtronX  2002-06-10 13:24:40 ( ID:blvxpewgwwm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Chances are your source file has an error in it when TMPGenc gets to this it chokes. It possible it will recover if you give it time to finish if not you may have to encode using the new source selection feature you can deselect the bad source file spot this way.

Question - TE25 - Audio and Video Not Synch'd No.22997
John  2002-06-09 15:02:32 ( ID:kqeswzcpkao )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

After converting a Matrox DV avi from the Premiere timeline using TMPGEnc and encoding the audio using Export Timeline > Audio, when I put them back together in DVDit!PE, the audio and video are out of synch. It seems that the audio has one sort of false start at the beginning where it seems to start and then starts over. That seems to be the amoount they're out of synch. Both show 2:01:01 for duration but they seem to be out by a fraction of a second. Can anyone tell me what might have caused this and what can be done to fix it?

Thanks,

John

Minion  2002-06-09 21:52:48 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Sync problems are very common with captured files, you said there was a little glitch at the begining of the audio file ,that glitch seems to have ruined your audio file so I think you will have to do your audio over again, and maybe this time there wont be a glitch at the begining of it,but if they are still out of sync you can use a program like "mpegvcr" or bbmpeg or m2-edit pro"to multiplex the audio to your video but it has a feature that lets you off set the audio or video so you can sync them, but can you get program streams into DVDit?I learned my lesson long ago with DVDit and dumped it because it is way to picky with the files it accepts.........

John  2002-06-10 14:44:57 ( ID:nwosmamnqam )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Minion,

Thanks for your reply. I had no problem getting the files into DVDit or ReelDVD (ReelDVD actually seemed pickier). I don't know where the glitch came from at the start but it seems to be the problem. I found sound I exported earlier that had no glitch and it synched fine. Any ideas what would have produced the false start on the audio? I used Export Timeline > Audio using entire project. The one without glitch came from a Ligos plug-in export.

John
