Question - TE25 - SVCD results still has a bit blockyness :( No.19219
Dennis  Home )  2002-04-17 20:10:10 ( ID:.uhbhxbi0ng )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

DAMN, now im angry.

I like tmpgenc but Im mad about svcd, I seems that I can't get rid of the blockyness in the video *Gaaahhhh*

I managed to convert the DVD straigt to SVCD in tmpgenc but there is still some blockyness on some fast moving parts. Either it's tmpgenc that is the problem or thats just something you have to live with :(

I have done, CB on the file and 2-pass , the same results except 2-pass file was 2mb smaller.

When I play the VOB file it's perfect and I have tried to encode a SVCD with CB set to 6000 and THEN there is no fucking blockyness....

Damn SVCD standard, they should had max bitrate to 6000 since some scenes require that or maby I should flunk 2-pass and CB since I herd that if you have the quality to high the blockyness is there.

Strange since im playing the SVCD file on my H+ card onto a TV :(

Any suggestions

/Regards Dennis

Techno  Home )  2002-04-17 20:23:54 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

try using AUTO_CQ

use a bitrate of 7000

then open this file and then encode to SVCD TEMP

what happens then?

Techno

Dennis  Home )  2002-04-17 20:44:27 ( ID:gdoi5fzrbsw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hmm now that you said that, maby in CB and 2-pass the QUALITY switch is set to 50, you can change that on Automatic VBR and Constant Quality. I remember reading that you could set it to MAX 65 and you would be oki.

I will try it, if the video comes out better, than all that talk on the net that 2-pass VBR is the best, is a load of crap, remains to be seen.

I got a mail from a person too (he worked for a company that converted japaneese cartoon dvds) and he said that it didn't matter if you used 2-pass from Automatic VBR or something, if you had a good scource (DVD) the there was no need for multipass stuff and so on.

I will try to encode tomorow and see what happends. :-]

I don't want to go above the MAXIMUM bitrate for SVCD standard since I want maximum compability on standalones, sadly I don't have a standalone so I can't test it for real :/

Anyway thanks for the hint, will check it out.

P.S. I guess I will become a SVCD madman after all the problems I have had ehe.

Question - TE25 - Avi to Mpeg problem No.19215
ChemMan  2002-04-17 19:08:36 ( ID:nftm.bjji/o )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When trying to insert an Avi file to convert to Mpeg I get the unsupported error. Am I doing something wrong?

techno, i'm also having the same problem and tried your suggestion... no luck for me. any other suggestions?

steve sikora  2002-04-23 16:54:20 ( ID:bjgn1zejewl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi Tanman.
Try this Virtual dub, open video file, select video, select full processing mode, select conversion, select divx low motion video, select configure, hit ok
click file, select sav as avi, ignore warning, has not caused any problems. What should happen is you will see two screens up. input and resulting output.
name this file so you will recognize it later. Now do your audio, select audio,
full processing mode, select conversion, click 44100, select compression, select no compression. Click file and select sav as wav. Now open tmpge.
Hit browse and now select the new avi video file you just made. Click on browse and select wav file( also made in virtual dub) This should work because what you are doing is making an avi file that tmpge will accept. It is also called hacking, but the movies do come out ok and us poor folk need some advantages sometimes. Good luck

Question - TE25 - Quality issue with PAL->NTSC Conversion No.19214
Albert  2002-04-17 18:15:42 ( ID:t64pemt.nyc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I've some PAL DV tapes I want to convert to NTSC MPEG2 and burn them to a DVD+RW discs. I found that TMPGEnc allows PAL to NTSC conversion, but the resulting conversion quality is poor. Motion is jerky and some blockiness are seen. The only happens when PAL->NTSC conversion is specified. This is very noticeable when viewing the DVD video on a real DVD Player (a Sony unit I've here). On the PC, it doesn't appear to be quite so jerky.

I've tried Canopus DV Format Converter, and burnt the result onto a DVD+RW. Played it on a real DVD player, and the video is smooth.

Trying to convert an SVCD MPEG2 file to VCD MPEG

When I tell TMPGEnc 2.53 to open the specific MPEG2 file (whitch is works perfectly under WinDVD) TMPGEnc just freezes up...

Techno  Home )  2002-04-17 18:04:15 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

uninstall WinDVD

install either:

Cyberlink Powerdvd

or

the Ligos MPEG2 filters

if TMPGENC still hangs then it means that the

a) Header of the file is corrupted
b) The file has some corrupted frames at the beginning

Bug report - TE25 - cannot open or unsupported error No.19205
bill  2002-04-17 17:53:10 ( ID:ye1n/lryz4f )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi there

I am running on win2000 with latest version of directX (8) and quicktime (5). I get the unsupported error when I try to open .mov files. I seem to be able to open .AVI files OK but what is going on here.

The .MOV files can be sucessfully opened by quicktime and other applications so I don't think the problem is with the files.

I'd appreciate any suggestions or at least I'd like to know if this is bug or just something that isn't configured properly.

Regards

Bill

Bug report - TE25 - cannot open or unsupported - bug? No.19201
Roger  2002-04-17 17:32:56 ( ID:ex4ggkichqr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am having the same problem that was submitted by a user earlier - receiving the error message of "File cannot open, or unsupported". I went through and changed some things in the Environmental Settings, which allowed me to select the video and audio source, but after clicking start, the progress stopped at 99%.

I have been able to do this before, but not today????

Any suggestions?

Question - TE25 - How to create a video cd? No.19195
Frank  2002-04-17 16:12:16 ( ID:azvmt8fdfg. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi guys,

I'm new to this program. I've tried to create some video cd pal from .avi videos but they seems don't work.
Could someone explain me the entire process to create this video cd?

Thanks

Techno  Home )  2002-04-17 16:16:22 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

what do u mean they don't work? Please give more detail:

if your avi file is not accepted by TMPGENC, close the wizard
goto options > environment settings
click on the VFAPI plufin tab
right click on the avi opendml filter and select higher priority
right click on the avi vfw filter and select higher priority

Then try the wizard again.

If the file is accepted but won't play:

uninstall DIVX 5 codec
install DIVX v4.11 or v4.12 codec and then encode. There should be video and audio now.

Otherwise, I do not know what you mean. If you re asking how to create a VCD then:

open TMPGENC
a wizars will appear
select VCD PAL/NTSC.
Follow the wizard
And that is all there is to it.

Then burn in nero!

Have a look at the guides here since explaining is to extencive in a bbs forum.

http://www.vcdhelp.com
http://doom9.net

Above url's allso contain links to other guides and sites.

Surf around and have a look and read the guides then you will probably get the hang of it, that's how I started :)

Frank  2002-04-18 10:20:49 ( ID:azvmt8fdfg. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

My problem was that I could make the video cd with no problem but when I try the cd in a dvd player or in a PS2 the file is not read.
I had in my PC divx5.
Now I try to reinstall the old version to see if it works.

Tomorrow I'll let you know if I succeed. ^__^

steve sikora  2002-04-23 17:50:58 ( ID:bjgn1zejewl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi Frank
Try this, Go to vcdhelp.com. On left hand side, click conversions. Select all in one guide divx to vcd. Download all the tools it says to. Now follow the guide exactly as it was written. This will work for you and it is how most of us started. I use virtual dub, tempge and vcd easy. They are all free. Don't forget to download divx 3.1 and 4.0 codecs. Have fun. I am by no means an expert but I have already made more than 15 vcds without any problems. Good rule of thumb, download divx or dvd movies. They are the best quality. Also remember that you can not fix a file. If it is noisey or video not too good, then the resulting product will be the same. And probably worse.

Question - TE25 - Very Blocky playback in Mpeg format No.19193
hilal  2002-04-17 15:46:48 ( ID:jjuoli2e8m. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have a video which I would like to convert to mpeg. It is currently an Mpeg4 encoded avi file, which plays perfectly in RealOne Player and Windows Media Player. However when I convert it to an Mpeg file and try to watch it using my DVD software the video is completely lost, its just a mixture of colours. It only seems to happen with this particular file and the audio is still intact, its only the video that messes up. I have tried it with both divx 4.12 and divx 5, but the same thing happened. Any advice?

Techno  Home )  2002-04-17 16:13:18 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

What kind of colours are you experiencing?

try to decrease the directshow priority in the environment settings then encode the avi.

Why does my encoder give this message.
I am using it inside DVD2SVCD-bundle.

How can I correct this? Where do I get a "none-trial-periode MPEG-2"?

This is not ERROR!
