Question - TE25 - Am I that stupid??? No.19045
zertndo  2002-04-15 18:58:39 ( ID:fwuobfqhvi6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Have patience with me. I think my I.Q. went down to 49. I did everything that I was supposed to for encoding an AVI to an MPG and burned it with Nero. Everything worked great until I put the CD-R in my DVD player. I said "No Disc"

One submission to this BBS from Techno said that cheaper cd-r's wouldn't work. My DVD player plays all formats of CD, CD-R/RW, MP3, VCD, SVCD, etc.

Is there something else I should be looking for. I know this is not much info, but if you ask me specific questions, I can give you the answer.

TYVM,
Zertndo

This is seriously weird!

Sorry if I am replying again.

OK, sorry for the dumb question but what VCD template did you use?

How did you encode it?

How did you burn it?

Techno  Home )  2002-04-15 19:29:37 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Maybe, just Maybe, there maybe a problem with the laser in the dvd player, may have busted for CD-R/VCD but if it plays other VCD's then there is something seriously wrong!

Hmm.

Try and follow some of the guides out there.

One thing though, In nere make sure you burn with MAX 4X speed and "Track-at-once" to get maximum compability with standalone players.

Keping  2002-04-15 22:04:36 ( ID:z7f0prq61xn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

try different brands of blank CDs, or rewritable CDs. I solve the problem by changing CDs.

smig  2002-04-16 23:14:25 ( ID:py/duj2rcm2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

i had the same problem. i had to start the movie, then immediatly pause it. then you cut the movie in two. if you don't start it playing first it won't work. the instructions i had first didn't include that step.

Bug report - TE25 - Program Stop Responding No.19041
Honsq  2002-04-15 18:09:00 ( ID:y77qlefrx8m )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I tried to use TMPGENC - 2.53.35.130 to convert certain asf files into mpeg-1 format. TMPGENC stops responding and hang after completing 25% of conversion. I tried to run TMPGENC in boh Window XP and Window 98 and same thing happens. Can anyone help?

Techno  Home )  2002-04-15 18:25:21 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I do not think ASF is supported in TMPGENC, bu I may be wrong.

I tried it once my self, but hung.

Techno

EyeBaLL  Home )  2002-04-16 13:10:57 ( ID:xwzk2dlid/2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

ASF is supported via the DirectShow interface but there seems to be a memory leak in TMPGEnc that prevents it from converting too long files (short ones work ok, depends on the memory you have)

Honsq  2002-04-16 13:27:25 ( ID:ko.pr9feeuj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have 768M RAM in memory. I have tried to convert different asf files with sizes range from 7M to 20M. The program would hung regard of the size of the source file.

I too am having this same problem.

After following some earlier advice to read
<http://www.vcdhelp.com/convert.htm>

I followed the instructions exactly, but still haven't been able to get more than a blank screen in the Wizard. Am using version 2.53, unregistered.

FesteringSore  2002-04-18 20:11:30 ( ID:gaje6e2zup. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

ok, figured out the Wizard problem...

It seems that the files have to be in their respective folders for TMPGEnc to open them in the Wizard.

Follow this link : http://forum.vcdhelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=84759

and note the locations of the files and the folders they are located in, and then make the proper changes. I don't know if version 2.5 fixes this, but the copy I downloaded was in .zip format, and had no folder extensions.

hope this helps!

ffast  2002-04-19 02:16:25 ( ID:rq73n1voqvj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Some unzip software ignores file/folder structure of ZIP file,
so, in your case, when your software unzipped the file, it broke
file/folder structure, then TMPGEnc cound not refer to the necessary files.

This is not bug of TMPGEnc obviously.

Question - TE25 - Video Will Not Encode No.19034
webs1  2002-04-15 17:04:11 ( ID:kyeran/uvfj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi, I have been using TMPGEnc for a bit now and for the first time I have encountered an AVI clip that when I go to convert, will not show any video. The screen is completely black and when I go to preview, I still get no video. But the AVI clip will play under Windows Media Player so I know that there is video.

In a similar post, someone mentioned uninstalling Divx5 and installing Divx 4.11 or 4.12. I did just that (4.12) and still got the same problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
webs1

gazofhalifax  2002-04-15 19:55:36 ( ID:ujv2ebjxawc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I've had this before - what happened with me is that the avi I was attempting to convert had been encoded in an old codec (mp43) - download and install angelpotion codecs or other suitable mp43 codecs (take your pick) - this worked for me. This may be what's wrong with yours.

Regards
Gaz

hmmm....

try to uninstall the angel potion codec as it is known to cause problems

Also, increase the directshow, avi vfw and the avi opendml filters to a higher priority in the environment settings.

Techno

webs1  2002-04-15 17:05:49 ( ID:kyeran/uvfj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

How do you uninstall that particular codec?

Techno  Home )  2002-04-15 17:13:51 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

you goto control panel and add/remove programs or use the uninstaller with the codec (sometimes in it's own program group on the start menu)

Techno  Home )  2002-04-15 15:51:47 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

well, depends:

is it a VCD?

if so u can use nero to burn it or adaptec but nero is recommended

if it is not a VCD but want to burn it, just burn it as data CD

Question - TE25 - constraining bitrate per frame No.19023
riclee  2002-04-15 12:43:10 ( ID:momqdzyeghf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Has anyone found a way to limit the max/min bitrate per frame (not just per second) in CBR mode? Or to control it in some way.
Thanks,
Ric

Techno  Home )  2002-04-15 12:49:29 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

not in CBR, but in Auto_CQ or CQ

if u use the auto_CQ or the CQ, make sure u have the enable padding box enabled.

Question - TE25 - 960*540 bmp -> mpeg2 format No.19021
Jeong  2002-04-15 08:41:58 ( ID:ahu8pm.mhlm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi,
I use TMPG Enc 2.53.

I tried to convert 960*540 bmp to mpeg2 format file.
But I got a error message
"The resolution of the video is illegal.
> The windows size needs to be set between 8*8 and 4088*4088.
> The width and height of window needs to be multiple of 8."

Is it impossible to convert 960*540 bmp to mpeg2 format file using TMPG Enc?

if so, is there any way to do this?

Please understand I'm not good at English. ^^

Techno  Home )  2002-04-15 09:24:29 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

you must resize the video:

480*480 / 640*480 etc...

Daphne  2002-04-15 08:09:34 ( ID:wsiilbqc0in )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I need you to solved my problem here. I want to encode to SVCD format. I had a mpeg1 encoder using PV233 chip and Zoltrix capture card. Which one is prefer for good quality recording wheather using avi without compression or mpeg1 (CBR 6144 Mbps)? When I encode a video signal using Zoltrix at higher rate (480 x 480) it showed jerking picture and why the avi file processed at 15 frame per second?

Dennis  Home )  2002-04-15 08:23:34 ( ID:.uhbhxbi0ng )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hmm.

You should check www.vcdhelp.com on the capture thing. What I know is that AVI capturing takes up a lot of space, if you are really into this maby you should check out the WinTV PVR or the RealMagic DV card. They are great since AVI capturing is hard and difficult getting it good as well but it's cheap.

/Regards Dennis

Techno  Home )  2002-04-15 14:30:10 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

actually, go for the hauppauge wintv go pci and use these high settings:

NO RECOMPRESSION
YU12
320*240
25/30fps
CD quality audio

This will give you high quality but will take up alot of hdd space, but it is worth it.

then convert to VCD/SVCD in TMPGENC and will be done quick.
