If purchasing now for the current (2.53), will I be able to download future versions without having to put out any more $ for your product?

According to this license agreement the License Key is valid for Version 2.5 This includes all minor updates. Version 2.6 will most likely be another purchase.

As far as it is minor version upgrade such as 2.5X or possibly 2.6X, it is free to upgrade! But version 3.X will not be free although No one knows when it is available.

erzug  2002-03-28 18:00:30 ( ID:stzs9.rriyg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Usually most software vendors allow free upgrades within a major release. I would also expect any other 2.xx releases to be free.

Question - TE25 - Filesize limits with TMPEnc? No.17431
bjhartma  2002-03-28 06:14:30 ( ID:mjl6wpzw4t. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am trying to convert an MPG to AVI. I originally was doing it on a FAT32 drive and it errored out when the file got to 3.99G. So I converted the drive to NTFS. XP sees it as NTFS and it works fine. But now when I export to AVI, it gets 100% of the way done, but the file is only 4GB (should be more like 7) and it won't play in Media Player.

Is there a file limit that TPMGEnc has built in?

RX  2002-03-28 06:40:44 ( ID:rq73n1voqvj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

No, it is not limit of TMPGEnc, but it is limit of file system (because TMPGEnc relies on windows(directshow) to read files).

Question - TE25 - Unsupported Format No.17428
rwong48  2002-03-28 06:03:36 ( ID:qhjudvktrgm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

First email me back at rwong48@hotmail.com if you have an answer, thanks

I have a couple AVIs that i want to encode to VideoCD NTSC compatible MPGs. The AVI doesn't use a DivX codec, but a Microsoft High-Speed MPEG-4 codec. I've tried changing it to DivX using VirtualDub.. It wouldn't support it. I need to change it into a DivX AVI first.. Then to an VCD mpeg. I need help!! I am encoding a whole series and i need it all..

jeany  2002-03-29 07:34:21 ( ID:giueammclgo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

i,m having the same problems if you find a way let me know.

Ashy  2002-03-30 15:46:46 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Why do you need to change it to Divx first?
If you have the codec installed on your system with which you created the AVI then any program should be able to open the file including TMPG and Virtualdub.
Tmpg will open any AVI file as long as the right codec is present. If you are having problems opening the file in these programs then this suggests to me you dont have the required codecs installed on your system.

Question - TE25 - Stream Error... No.17426
gottX  2002-03-28 03:47:30 ( ID:igx5g8tc3br )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I try to transform a divx to mpeg (vcd) and on the second part of the file, I alway get (at the same place) a stream error. Is there something I can do to correct that?

techno  Home )  2002-03-28 12:40:48 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

use virtualdub v1.4.9 to scan for errors in the DIVX avi file, some frames may be corrupted.

Question - TE25 - subtitles cut off No.17419
griever  2002-03-27 23:39:08 ( ID:d.s4fbg4bfl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

can anyone tell me how to make a vcd where the bottom with the subtitles will not be cut off. what are the settings i need to make when encoding? And does it also depend on the source video's size ratio that determines the outcome of the encoding.

Techno  Home )  2002-03-28 18:41:56 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

set the source ratio to 1:1 for PC or 4:3 for dvd playback on your set-top dvd player.

Question - TE25 - GOP Header error in DVDit from TMPGEnc file No.17417
nullinvoid  2002-03-27 23:07:53 ( ID:gdupxt2h7q2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm trying to burn a test DVD from DVDit using files I encoded in TMPGEnc, but get the error "Each GOP Header must be preceeded by a sequence header." The files play fine in DVDit and PowerDVD, but it just wont let me create a disc with them.

I've tried using the Wizard settings in TMPGEnc as well as the ones in the Doom9 article, but get the same results. The TMPGEnc website seems to be down, so no luck there. I'm sure it's something simple, but what?

jpsabo  2002-03-27 23:54:26 ( ID:cosg728adko )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Click on the "Setting" button in the main screen, then the "GOP Structure" tab. Make sure "Output Interval of sequence header:" is set to 1. That should work.

Question - TE25 - MPEG2 fundamental streams No.17414
Albert  2002-03-27 22:47:37 ( ID:oufoo5bqgqr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Can TMPGEnc encode AVI files into MPEG2 fundamental MPEG2 streams? What I want is instead of outputting .MPG files, I want to get .MPA (audio) and .MPV (video) files instead. This helps to save time when building the DVD project with Sonic DVDIt!.

Albert

sherlock  2002-03-28 01:06:45 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

what you can do is after you are done encodeing, try to "multi-plex" it,then you will be left with a video filr and a audio file...hope this is what you wanted?...

Albert  2002-03-28 01:19:47 ( ID:oufoo5bqgqr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You mean "de-multiplex". Can TMPGEnc do this by itself at the time of output? Because DVDIt! can take .MPA and .MPV files and it saves time if I used these files as input of the DVD project as opposed using .MPG files.

Question - TE25 - No sound, only video No.17406
hekne  2002-03-27 21:34:08 ( ID:r2xc2vdefgc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi everyone.

My problem occurs when I try to encode divx-files into mpeg-files. I've tried several couples of movies but I never get the sound. I've also tried to convert the sound in the divx-file into a wav-file and then used it as the audiosource, but it didn't work anyway. Am I just stupid and have forgot any important issue or has more then me the same problem?

Very grateful for some answer. Thanks.

jonnyrotten  2002-03-28 01:50:18 ( ID:izvs8xtjp7c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I also cannot get sound, dunno why I have tried both types of audio stream and am trying to convert a divx file, I am also running windows 2000, anyone have a fix?

hekne  2002-03-28 11:15:42 ( ID:r2xc2vdefgc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi again.

After some hard working I finally got the sound to work. Maybe this method can help u to jonnyrotten. I used the program VirtualDub to convert the sound into a wav-file and the simply used this one as the audiosource in TMPGenc. When converting sound with VirtualDub you had to do some settings that I wasn't familiar with. But the nice thing is that there's a really good site that tells everything of how to convert the sound right, aswell as the video.
http://www.vcdhelp.com/divxtovcd.htm
Maybe someone can be helped with this method.

Chip Ling  2002-03-28 16:31:17 ( ID:3yxzcq5vqpo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have more or less the same problem.

I have two machines. I tried both machines with the same testing Div AVI file as the source and convert it to MPEG. One machine can get it with sound and the other cannot. I suspect I must have install some drivers in the working machine so that it is working fine while the other is not.

I got too many drivers installed on the working machine so I have no idea which driver helps to get the work done.

Need to have more tries before I can find an answer. I will post a message here if I can find the answer.

Rgds,
Chip

Now, there is a much simpler way.

Search the net for a program called "AVI2VCD" (Don´t have the URL handy). The Software itself is crap, but it comes with
a little tool called "decompress.exe". This single file is a neat little progi to convert the compressed AVI-Sound into PCM-Sound.

It´s fast and simple to use, give it a try...

TIM  2002-03-30 02:45:07 ( ID:ez6ru0p4vyn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am having the same problem with the avi's and I've tried both ways. I tried this 'decompress.exe' and I can't even get it to work. When I extracted the audio to *.wav with VirtualDub the audio came out great. The only problem was when I encoded the video with the new audio they are out of sync. I can't figure it out because I did everything exactly the way it said to at www.vcdhelp.com. Please help!!

Athlon Rulz  2002-04-16 21:18:51 ( ID:lh1udvptj1c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

What does this mean "you can´t even get it to work"?

Just double click on decompress.exe and that´s it.

:-))

Reading through the licence agreement you are out of luck getting you money back. Im wondering why you didnt test TMPGEnc first with the free version...

Question - TE25 - Can TMPGEnc do a listof projects? No.17404
JBEST  2002-03-27 20:46:08 ( ID:llxn5ue6yim )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Can TMPGEnc do a list of projects? For example, I want to leave my computer on in the middle of the night so it can convert a list of files. They are ,mov. I want TMPGEnc to convert one and once its done to do the next file. Is that possible?

jpsabo  2002-03-28 00:00:42 ( ID:cosg728adko )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Fairly simple. Just select your video and audio source, specify the output file name and load a template. Then do a "File" -> "Save Project" and save the project file. Repeat this procedure for as many files that you want to convert (if the template stays the same, you just need to change input and output). When you are ready to begin processing, do a "File" -> "New Project" to clear everything, then do a "File" -> "Batch Encode" and use the "Add" button to add the project files to the popup. Hit "Run" and everything will be processed automatically.
