Question - TE25 - Mpeg2 Help No.28398
John  2002-09-22 11:19:02 ( ID:tvkvqglzwbo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I made a movie in Adobe Premier that has about nine clips with short transitions between each clip. TMPGEnc completes the Mpeg2 encoding in about 5 hours, and appears to do so successfully. The resulting Mpeg file is 3.86 gigs. However, when I drag the file into DVDit to setup the DVD burn, DVDit says that it could not find a suitable decoder for the file. Please help!

ASHY  2002-09-22 13:21:59 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You probably need an MPEG2 codec installed, but I would have thought DVDit would install it's own. This question has arisen before.
Try demultiplexing the MPEG file and load the video and audio separately.

i am formating a avi file to play on a dvd and it worked ok but it is a tv series around 25 minutes long and my cdrw hold 80 minutes, yet when i copy i can only get one movie on a disk anyway to get 2?????????????????

ASHY  2002-09-22 13:25:36 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Depends on how large the file is and what format it is encoded to.

An 80min disk will hold 800mb of MPEG data. As long as both your MPEG files are smaller in total than this then you should have no problem fitiing 2 on a disk.

Just drag both files into your burning software in the order you wish them played.

Question - TE25 - install problem No.28392
Iris  2002-09-22 10:02:23 ( ID:uhqbc50bzlf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

First of all, I'm from Germany, so please excuse my Englisch. Here is my problem: I downloaded the two files of TMPGENC Vers. 2.58, unzipped in the same folder (I think) with EasyZip 2000. Then I tried to run "TMPGENC.vfp_install". I always got the german message "Fehler beim Laden von TMPGENC.vfp. Das angegebene Modul wurde nicht gefunden" ("Fault by loading TMPGENC.vfp. Couldn't find the Modul"). If I open only the TMPEGENC.exe to use the program directly I got the message "Can't open p3package.dll".
Does anyone knows a solution? Pleas write in easy English.
Thanks

ASHY  2002-09-22 13:28:43 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Use a different program to unzip the files. TMPG is picky about what unzips it. Try the latest Winrar. If it doesn't work download again.
Also you can't run TMPG from the zip, it must be unzipped first.

Question - TE25 - lateral camera motion generates strobing when encoding VCD's No.28390
GH  2002-09-22 08:40:09 ( ID:hse7pputsig )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Does anyone know how to get rid of the strobing, or flashing that occurs when playing on the TV a VCD that features a lateral camera motion? I tried all the filters with no success...

ASHY  2002-09-22 13:52:44 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Do you mean Interlacing artifacts?
Interlacing causes a sort of combing effect in high motion scenes.
If so you need to de-interlace the file.

Question - TE25 - audio out of sync after demux and remux? No.28386
bluevine  2002-09-22 05:08:18 ( ID:lo9efwfwako )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm using TMPGEnc to create an MPEG2 using Virtual Dub as the frameserver. Sometimes the audio quality is not the best so I use the Simple de-multiplex option on the MPEG2. After converting the MP2 audio file to WAV, editing it and then converting it back to MP2, I then join the video and audio back together again using the simple multiplex tab. The problem is this results in creeping audio/video sync problems about 20 minutes into the movie.
This was not occuring on the original MPEG2.
Anyway to get around this?
Thanks

Minion  2002-09-22 09:37:32 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

By Creaping do you mean it Gradualy goes out of sync???That type of De-sync is allmost impossible to fix...Have you tried a differant Multiplexor?? a good one is Mpeg2VCR it is faster than Tmpgenc for muxing plus it has a Function to off set the audio to fix sync problems...

bluevine  2002-09-22 17:37:43 ( ID:tfbuuajrpro )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You're right, it is gradually out of sync. I've tried shrinking or streching the audio to compensate but it never turns out quite right. I've never heard of MPEG2VCR. What's the website for it?
Thanks a lot.

Question - TE25 - ASHY.......Still aproblem w/vfapi converter No.28376
MannaZen1  Home )  2002-09-22 04:59:44 ( ID:bretwi1a3.g )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I went ahead and retried everything a second time and still haven't gotten the vfapi converter to work. Here's what I posted yesterday:

I did everything you said above: ran vipfset.bat from the vfapi folder,

ran the file TMPGEncVFP_Install.bat which I downloaded from the TMPG site,

and registered TMPGenc.vfp to VFAPI.

I'm still having the same "Reader Codec" error in VFAPI converter. With one file it actually worked, but never saved it to a the Output folder lister in the converter box.

I went ahead and erased all my old .tpr files, and saved them again after I reinstalled TMPGENC 2.58 and VFAPI with the necessary codec and I still have this problem.

Would repeating the whole process (re-installing the software and codec possibly take care of this problem? Or am I going about this the wrong way.

I'm running on a Dell Demension desktop 8200 that is windows XP ready. I heard VFAPI has a problem running on XP machines. COuld this be the problem? Is there any other program I can use to go from TMpgenc to CCE 2.62 to build psuedo avi files?

Minion  2002-09-22 09:34:06 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I run XP and don"t have a problem with Vfapi converter..But i do know that it can be Quite Buggy at times..What I would sugest is to try to get CCE SP 2.64.01.10 and use AVISynth to frame serve and to resize the file, it is a bit Quicker and has a better Resize filter.E-Mail me if you can"t find it and I"ll try to find it for you, and you can use a program called "Gordain Knot" to write the AVS Scripts for you...What you can try to do if you just want to get this VFAPI problem fixed is to backup most of you programs on a Disk and re-install your operateing system and then re-install you programs one at a time with the VFAPI first...Do you have "Norton System Works"?? use it to Clean out your Registry and any system errors that might be going on...It has fixed a lot of problems for me.....

MannaZen1  Home )  2002-09-22 12:23:57 ( ID:bretwi1a3.g )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Minion

appreciate the reply

No I dont know whether or not I have Norton Sys, ill have to check out the backup disks i receivecd with my computer.

Ill go ahead and check google for avisynth. Would tmpgenc be invovled with the formula you gave above, or would frameserving from avisynth to cce sp 2.64 do the trick?

MannaZen1  Home )  2002-09-22 12:26:27 ( ID:bretwi1a3.g )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

would framserving from avisynth work in cce sp 2.62?

ASHY  2002-09-22 13:36:31 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

What version of the VFAPI converter do you have? Does the VFAPI converter list .tpr files as a supported format when you open it?

Also to check you have it installed go to Control panel>Sounds and audio devices>hardware>Video codecs>click properties>properties
In the list you should see the VFAPI reader codec.

Minion  2002-09-22 22:07:43 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

AVISynth only works with the 2.50 version and the newer releases of 2.64 but not with 2.62, and the 2.50 doesn"t produce quite the same quality in my opinion as the 2.64 version..If you are lucky enough to get the 2.66 version it supports AVISynth..I think the new 2.66 version(Not Beta)is being released Tomorow sept 24/2002...I warn you though AVISynth is not to be used By the unexperienced because you have to write out scripts meaning a sort of Code to get it to work, that is why It is good to use "Gordain Knot" cuz it will write the code for you....

MannaZen1  Home )  2002-09-23 03:05:22 ( ID:bretwi1a3.g )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm using VFAPI EN 1.05, it shows up in my registry in the control panel under video codecs, and yes it does take tmpgenc .tpr files, yet i still cant it to work. Everything is registered in TMpgenc. Is it possible for my to install a differnt vfapi codec (like for tmpgenc 2.58) in a Tmpgenc 2.57 FREE folder, and still have it work the same (if I can ever get it to work).

How do I frameserve w/ Gordian Knot to CCE 2.62? Do I have to encode first w/Nanodub (???) If anything can ya hook me up w/ a link to a site or tutorial?

Thanks

Minion  2002-09-23 07:52:11 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You Can"t frame serve to 2.62 with gordain knot, only 2.50 and 2.64 and 2.66, and I guess I forgot to say it was for frame serveing D2V files from DVD2AVI and not AVI files...But if you are useing D2V files for DVD2AVI then you need to get either 2.50 or 2.64 would be better...

ASHY  2002-09-23 18:05:46 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Answer me a few questions.

1. What sort of file have you loaded into TMPG to create a project file with?

2. Are you adding audio to the project file?

3. If .tpr files are listed in the VFAPI converter as a supported type, is the .tpr file accepted or rejected when loaded?

4. You must still have the original files you loaded into TMPG to create the .tpr files in exactly the same location as they where when you first made the project files. Is this true?

MannaZen1  Home )  2002-09-23 23:02:52 ( ID:bretwi1a3.g )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

ASHY

1) I load in divx (w/an .avi extension) and standard .avi files

2) No audio included

3) Near all files are rejected, with the exception of one. Yet after I load the file (which is also just the video) and convert, I cant locate the converted file in the output folder specified in the converter

4) I do keep the original files, which were used to create the .tpr files, in the same location all the time.

Im encoding with TMPgenc 2.58 FREE, Mpeg-2, on my new 2.4 GHz, and it's pretty fast, minus all the filters, but would love to see how fast CCE can be.

Thanks

Question - TE25 - help me PLEASE!! No.28373
Reggie Murdock  2002-09-22 04:18:25 ( ID:euktrgnrovo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

This letter is regarding the letter I wrote previously. Please disregard that letter, but this is the problem I'm having. I encode SVCD movies and lately I've been getting these square-like things in the picture. It's like the pixels aren't right. I encode good high quality movies (DVD rip, divx, AVI), yet I'm getting crappy pictures! What adjustments can I make or how can I improve my TMPGEnc to work right again?? It worked fine before!! Please reply ASAP.

Minion  2002-09-22 09:24:20 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Well that sounds like "Macro Blocks", usually if you are doing SVCD"s you shouldn"t get these cuz the bitrate of a SVCD is usually high enough to get rid of them, the only other thing I can think of that would cause this besides a low bitrate is if you had a Lower resolution file and you increased the resolution..Say you have a file with a resolution of 352 by 240, and you make a SVCD out of it with a 480 by 480 resolution,Then you can expect to get a whole bunch of macro blocks because there are less than half the amount of pixels in the 352 by 240 resolution than there is in a 480 by 480 resolution so the encoder has to make up all the extra Pixels by duplicateing other pixels to fill in the space..so you get a lot of macro blocks and loose Detail..This is the only this I can think of unless you are useing a lower bitrate than the standard SVCD bitrate...

JN  2002-09-23 10:45:17 ( ID:skqqgcjdvag )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Minion is right - try to increase bitrate. I have have this experience. I make SVCD with music videos - when a picture is letterbox, 1600 kbps will do, when the black borders are smaller, I use 1700, when no borders (full screen), 1800, in rare cases (intentional noise in video) more. If you use VirtualDub for capturing AVIs, set Noise filter to 'on'. In that case, 1600-1700 kbps will always do, and you don't need to use filtering in TMPGEnc - you will bw much faster. I all cases I use 2-pass VBR, best quality.

Lately, I've been getting movies turn out distorted....with square-like shapes that distorting the picture. It's like the pixels aren't right in the picture. The movies I encode are high quality movies (DVD rip, DIVX, AVI), yet I keep getting crappy pictures. What can I do to try to resolve this problem?

MannaZen1  Home )  2002-09-22 05:17:19 ( ID:bretwi1a3.g )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Your encoding time depends on what filters you use, how fast your processor is, and whether or not you have any other programs running while encoding.

Minion  2002-09-23 07:48:08 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Encodeing to mpeg is a very CPU intensive operation and it will suck up most of your resourses know matter how fast your computer is..But if it is takeing 20 hours you must have a slow computer like maybe a 500MHZ, on my 1.7GHZ VCD"s encode in Real time..So maybe it is time for an upgrade...

Request - TE25 - Vob subtitle when re-encoding vob to svcd No.28358
replic  2002-09-21 23:20:02 ( ID:ilellxynfm. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

hi,

i often encode d2v project (dvd2avi) with tmpgenc and some usefull option is missing :(

i wonder to ask if it's possible to add vob subtitle option when user encode a d2v project to svcd for exemple, and so selectable subtitle language.

I think it's the more important function missing in tmpgenc for the moment.

But Tmpgenc is a wonderfull software, please continu to dev it! :)

thanks for replies...++

Minion  2002-09-22 09:08:48 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Tmpgenc will Probably Never support adding subtitles whithin the program it"s self....It Just isn"t the job of a mpeg encoder to add subtitles to a source file..You can rip the subtitles from the dvd then add them in Gordain Knot and frame serve them with Gordain Knot and Avisynth.or use Virtual Dub to frame serve the subtitles to tmpgenc........

replic  2002-09-22 13:23:42 ( ID:ilellxynfm. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

ok thanks :)

ASHY  2002-09-22 21:46:50 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It is more or less pointless adding selectable subtitles to MPEG files anyway. VCD doesn't support it and even when you can add subtitles with a program such as Iauthor to a SVCD. Most players will not recognize the subtitles anway.
The only option you really have if you want subtitles is to hard encode them into the MPEG file by framserving to TMPG with a program which supports them.
