Question - TAW5 BBS - "Video Manager IFO and BUP files in the same ECC block" No.67719

"Video Manager IFO and BUP files in the same ECC block"

This is an error that a duplicating company told me they get when my DVD is burned with DVD Author. This was a problem in 2004, according to something I found on the Internet, but this is 2013 and the same error is still in the program.

Any ideas on how to get around this error. I need help quickly.

Gary Plants  2013-06-18 15:04:45 ( ID:.uuwvnctkua )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Since this issue has not been addressed since it was brought up in 2004 (google this error and you can read it as well), I will give a solution after working all day to find an answer.

The problem is in using DVD Author to burn the program. It causes this error if you try to have a DVD mastered, after using this program to burn the DVD, you will get this error.

Imgburn will burn your DVD without any problems. I have absolutely no connection with Imgburn, but it does the job just fine.

BTW, I own DVD Author 5, Video Mastering Works 5, Mpeg Smart Renderer 4, and Mpeg Editor 3.

This is really the first problem that I personally have had with the software, but the fact that this has been ignored since 2004 is sad.

At the bottom of the "Specs' web page of the product you will find: "DVD-Video and Blu-ray (BDMV) authored with this application are not usable as a master for duplication. Pegasys Inc. and TMPG, Inc. are not liable for any damage arising from the utilization of this product." I do not know if by "authored" Pegasys actually means "burned", since you say ImgBurn works fine but it's an interesting issue. Is this copyright-related? Is it a limitation the software adds to the final output? Please contact support about this, and let us know.

If this restriction only applies to the TMPGEnc Disc Writing Tool then yes, it's a bit annoying, but not really serious. If it applies to the folder output too, then it means that Authoring Works 5 cannot be used professionally - at least when lots of copies are required. That would be a pity.

Gmplants  2013-06-23 12:09:03 ( ID:.uuwvnctkua )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

George, how did I know you would be the one to help. I had not read the "fine print". I will get results from the duplicating company on Monday. They did tell me that this was the only error they had. Imgburn is not supposed to create that error due to padding of the info and bup files.

gplants  2013-06-25 07:43:09 ( ID:.uuwvnctkua )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Good news. As I suspected, the problem is with the burning part of the Authoring program. For some reason it puts the IFO and BUP files in the same ECC block.

Burning the exact same files with Imgburn produced a perfect product that be used for glass mastering.

If Imgburn can do it, why can Tmpgenc Authoring??? And Imgburn is free. Needless to say I just made a donation to Imgburn.

George  2013-06-28 22:37:18 ( ID:o5vrz/ceazn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

My guess is (and I could be very wrong) that it's a very primitive form of mass-copy protection, imposed on DVD-authoring companies from the early days of the DVD era - almost two decades now. I don't see why Pegasys would impose this on its own. Or maybe a restriction that comes with the license to use the Dobly Digital encoder. Just guessing here.

I am running a Windows 7 professional 32 bit, I have IMGBurn and AppGeeker DVD Creator installed on my computer, both of them works well, never had issue with them.
Download AppGeeker here: http://www.ilikemall.com/convert/burn-mp4-to-dvd.html
If you try it, tell me if it works.

Thank you for this info! Looking for a new DVD authoring solution and noticed the 'fine print' regarding DVD disc burning is "Not suitable for duplication mastering" and wondered WHAT that was all about.

I've used "CopyToDVD" many years for my duplication master burning . . . Guess I still will!

Question - TAW5 BBS - How to Copy Track Thumbnail to Popup Menu No.67718
KevinM  2013-06-18 04:38:26 ( ID:rdlzrzhzabk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When creating a Blu Ray menu & pop up menu....

Is it possible to easily copy the thumbnail in the track menu to the respective one in the popup menu?

I often change the thumbnail frame but i's a REAL PAIN in having to find it and set it again in the popup menu.

Cheers

Question - TVMW5 BBS - Installation on Win 7 - 64-Bit No.67707
Travs Slyter  2013-06-15 04:44:31 ( ID:42d8m7ubrzh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I purchased a license and installed my product on a Windows XP machine. That machine was just replaced by a Windows 7 64-Bit machine. I logged on to my account and downloaded the TVMW 5. However which I try running the installer it tells me that it is not compatible with my system. However when I go to the support site, it says the TVWM 5 is compatible with Windows 7 64-Bit. I can find no way to download a different version of the product that is 64-Bit compatible. It's very frustrating to have paid for this product and not be able to install it.

tkrave  2013-06-15 06:53:36 ( ID:resxbfmz4s2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It should work. I've used it on Win7 64-bit with no issues. It might be something other than the OS that is incompatible. What are your system specs? Screen resolution?

HG Tan  2013-06-15 12:29:18 ( ID:opgp4jtk2yj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It works on my Windows 7 64-bit system, but it is installed in \Program Files (x86) folder, so it is a 32-bit application.

Persen  2013-06-21 20:05:27 ( ID:as4qxzcqqln )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I agree, it should work. I am also using Windows 7 64-bit. Both TVMW5 and TAW5 is fully operational. When istalling TVMW5, it automatically created a Pegasys Inc folder in the (x86) software folder, to where TAW5 also decided to install it self.
Perhaps there are other issues. Try to create a folder in the root directory of your C drive just called Downloads. Then try to download the installer file once more, this time to the Downloads folder you created and then try to install it from there.

Question - TAW5 BBS - Manual for Authoring Works 5 No.67700

Question - TAW5 BBS - Menu creation No.67690
eibbed  2013-06-11 19:16:05 ( ID:f1buoe1gy3n )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I just downloaded taw5 imported a hd (1280x720) .ts file with ac3 audio and I'm trying to create a menu and it simply won't let me. Currently I've tried almost every combination to get a basic menu up and running from the menu wizard start screen. If I select a templated menu it displays no templates to select from in the "menu base settings" window despite installing the 3 free template packs. Incidentally I can see the template files in template folder but they aren't being seen by taw5.

If I select create a custom menu it allows me to select from the 32 different thumbnail layouts in the "custom menu creation" window however the navigation button, thumbnail frame and background are blank with no selectable options. The "next" button is also greyed out preventing me from going any further through menu creation.

I'm using a windows 8 system in case it helps. Anyone have any ideas ?

tkrave  2013-06-14 03:07:34 ( ID:resxbfmz4s2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Sounds like it's looking in the wrong folder for the template files.
When creating a menu using a template, there's a "browse" button; use that to look for the template directory.
I'm on Win8 64-bit and have had no issues.

Question - TMSR4 - Sequential TS File Binding No.67656
kybos  2013-06-01 20:13:16 ( ID:oshdoe22zpc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi,

the feature described on the "Features" page as "Sequential TS File Binding" should combine sequential .ts files into one on loading (split so by many recorders).
Files from my recorder look like this, e.g.:

12.000.text.ts
12.001.text.ts
12.002.text.ts
etc.

The Smart renderer is not able to recognize this as sequential.
Not even if I delete "12." at the beginning.
It only seems to work if there is a number and the extension, like this:
000.ts
001.ts
002.ts
etc.
(which is in fact not very helpful).

Does anybody know how exactly the algorithm works? Is it really as simple as that?

Thanks,
kybos

Contact the support team directly from the product's web page, and ask them to improve this feature. I don't know if they monitor these user-to-user forums.

MSR User  2013-07-15 03:57:36 ( ID:bfzsixjdwn2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Can't help you with the Smart Renderer product itself.

However this tool: http://www.1-4a.com/rename/ can help you quickly rename your files so they will work with the way the renderer is working.

Post if you're having problems figuring it out (it's kinda cryptic) and I can help you figure out the exact command or whatever.

Bug report - TAW5 BBS - Burning Engine Changed? No.67654
SaphireX  2013-06-01 09:11:59 ( ID:t3.kmu7olgl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Warning! After updating to the latest version of Authoring Works 5 I no longer can burn with my DVD Burner nor my Blu-Ray Burner. Before the upgrade no problems burning in either drive. I emailed customer support inquiring and this is the response...

"The engine was changed so probably your writing devices become not
recognizing it." ... and then proceeded to show me by giving new compatibility links that my drives are no longer listed...

As a long term customer of three TMPGEnc paid for products the simple unannounced change in the burning engine that left my burners in the dust is unacceptable!!!
Unhappy Camper and yes I can use the free IMGBurn to make things work but that does not solce the new problem that they introduced in the update!!!!

Bug report - TVMW5 BBS - Huge green fields of pixels No.67652
Persen  2013-05-31 22:14:58 ( ID:as4qxzcqqln )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have noticed what appears to be a bug.

I wanted to do some interlacing repair on a .ts file i have recorded from 1080i HDTV with 25fps. But what i found out was that there is a problem with rendering. I got huge green fields of pixel errors in the image no matter what i tried. I tried both the .ts importer and the 'as is' to use my external renderers instead.
But opening the .ts file in Corel VideoStudio Pro X5 and trying do some repair there instead, everything was just fine, no green pixel fields.

Something weird is going inside TVMW 5, who causes these green fields of pixel errors on 1080i 25fps HDTV recordings.

George  2013-06-02 02:42:14 ( ID:lbmrula6qim )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Does the file play normally on a software player? If so, you should report the issue directly to the product's support page. This is a user-to-user support forum.

Persen  2013-06-08 07:12:48 ( ID:as4qxzcqqln )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The .ts file play just fine on both my software and hardware players, though showing the interlacing errors i wanted to repair, but support had been contacted now about this matter.

Question - TMSR4 - How to install on Windows server operating system? No.67651
MaiSun  2013-05-31 21:23:12 ( ID:i1dhmnzexam )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi,

I tried to download the trail version of TMPGEnc MPEG Smart Renderer 4 software, but I couldn't install on Windows server 2008 R2. I know the server operating system is not offically supported, but is there anyway to force it install? I'd very much like to give this tool a try.
All other video editor tools such as VideoStudio, PowerDirector and Sony Vegas can be installed without problem.
Thank you in advance!

Request - TVMW5 BBS - Frame serving from Virtualdub No.67645
hgtan  2013-05-27 16:45:13 ( ID:opgp4jtk2yj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm using Virtualdub with subtitles filter to enbedd Chinese Karaoke text onto the video. I have been frameserving it to TMPEGenc Plus 2.521 for many years without problem. Now I upgrade it to TVMW5, I have no problem to frameserve, I can even play the video clip freely at <Edit> level, but when I try to export it to a standard DVD files it said the file type is not supported. Why?

I must use SAA subtitles files, SRT can't work for me. Is there any way to embed SAA subtitles within TVMW5?

Please help

HG Tan  2013-06-10 13:22:49 ( ID:opgp4jtk2yj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I wrote also to their customer servive / technical support, unfortunately they just keep asking some irrelavant and isolated questions. I seems to me that they just trying to talking away the problem and not trying to understand my problem. When I tell them my feeling, they stopped response to me.

Here is the workaround I found: Frameserve from Virtualdub as usual to a file XXX.vdr, [ then open this file using TMPEGen Plus 2.521 , Output XXX.mpg (any format, it doesn't matter), then save Project as XXX.tpr,] now just open XXX.tpr from TVM5 and it works! Next time you can skip those step in [].

Question - TAW5 BBS - Blu-ray menu on a HD No.67644
harro@ncable.net.au  2013-05-27 15:53:57 ( ID:1q0xznyilom )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have a project whose duration is approximately 2 hr. 40 min. edited in Edius. I then used TMPGenc Video Mastering Works 5 to produce a x264 file so as to fit on a Blu-ray disc. So far all is good. I authored the project, adding a menu to it using TMPGEnc Authoring Works 5 and produced the desired Blu-ray disc in which Menu works as required and the disc plays fine. I also have a WD HD Live unit that I store all my travel video’s on. I copied the BDMV and Certificate folders to the WD’s hard drive, but when using this unit, the Menu does not function (it does on the Blu-ray disc). I can get the Menu to show, but it does not link to the movie files as required. Any suggestions on how to get the Menu to function as required on the WD HD Live unit?

Ranma  2013-06-04 02:00:02 ( ID:jr7aqprafbn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You should really be asking this on the WD forum, not here. As this is obviously a problem with the WD software and not with the authored bluray that you have created. Maybe you can try creating an iso file and use that on the WD player. But seriously, ask WD for help.

Persen  2013-06-08 07:25:10 ( ID:as4qxzcqqln )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

To my knowlegde, WD TV Live (all of the models) does not support Blu-ray menus, only DVD menus, that also goes for ISO files. They do how ever support direct playing of M2TS files, so you could just create a folder containing only the M2TS files and then rename each of the M2TS files to match what they are about.

Question - TVMW5 BBS - NVIDIA Kepler hardware No.67632
Backbone  2013-05-23 20:32:42 ( ID:h/q/eysxakk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am wanting to purchase Video Mastering Works. The reason I am waiting is I had recently purchased MOVAVI (a competitor in the transcoding package market) It turned out that MOVAVI was not fully able to function with the newer NVIDIA Kepler architecture. CUDA transcodes were not working properly. I ended up with a refund and would like to verify that Video Mastering Works can handle Kepler based NVidia products. I have the GTX680 GeForce series currently installed and I am also using a matrox Compress HD H.264 encoder. I am using your Karma application with both devices and it has been buggy with the thumbnail generating and crashes after several hours of non use. Is there an issue with the Kepler device architecture and the CUDA encoding package provided with the TMPEG products? or am I safe to go ahead with the purchase now

tkrave  2013-05-24 03:49:41 ( ID:resxbfmz4s2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Just download the trial and see how it works for yourself:

I have a nvidia GTX650Ti and TMPGENC 5 works fine on nvidia Kepler architecture.

I have 2x AMD 7970 too... OpenCL support would be nice ;-)

Regards, Alkermes.

tmboyds  2014-06-01 10:08:30 ( ID:r//utnrtoxa )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Tmpg is usually optimized for Intel and NVidia, and everything else that is not AMD. Pegasus or Tsunami software prefers Nividia's kuda over AMDs OpenCl. Tsunami's favorite architectures are Kepler, Fermi, Oppenheimer and Einstein!!. So if you have any amd in your system forget about getting support. I've tried that before - just once -and gave up. I kept this purchase on hold for years and years because I didn't see support for amd coming anytime soon. Finally I went ahead and bought it over Vegas (maybe I had one too many and dint know which page I was on). Now I hardly use this and prefer 'AVS'es simpler interface with output quality equaling the best and at speed too.

This tmpg thingy goes along fine with kuda (prefer K to C), there wont be any crashes.

Vegas can't handle MKV but has openCl support.
