It may just be my own bad memory, but I think I have been able to import Quicktime Reference files (created in Media Composer) and bring them into VMW5 until today.
Today when I imported a QTref file, there was no video showing - only a black screen. The ausio was fine.
Is it my memory, or can something have happened now that prevents the video from appearing.
It sounds like a missing codec, but the same QT ref file can be imported (with video) into a couple of other applications I have.
Regards,
Douglas
I have found the problem.
I have installed a codec in Avid Media Composer to allow the direct creation of a QT reference file from HDV Long GOP clips.
TMPGEnc does not see that codec on my system and therefore cannot show the video.
My Camera HDR-CX700 with "color cinema", but is not so notorius the effect.
The new filter "Technicolor CineStyle" of 5DtoRGB, is wonderful, I want this filter effect in TVMW5, to improve the appearance of my recordings, I hope soon PEGASYS meets my wish for 2013.
My card delivery SpursEngine more vivid colors, but I would again enchant with my films, color filters I get the impression they do lose some detail in the image, the RGB to YUV process is perceived in the filter.
Hello, I have purchased v5 and tried to import a project from v4, but it failed stating "external exception e06d7363"
I then tried to import the video again so that I can create the project from scratch, but I received an error stating "cannot open file" followed by the file location.
The file is a .mov file which uses the Apple ProRes 422 HQ codec. When this file is imported into v4, it works perfectly.
Any ideas what may be causing these two issues? I checked these forums and searched online, but could not find any specific reasons why this is not working.
I have found from experience myself that v5 is a "bit thick" when it comes to issues such as this!
I've found that I have to go through the complete project, ensuring that that every element, back ground pictures/ videos clips/ audio files etc is specifically imported manually and then the project re-saved as a v5 project file.
When I go to simulation, if I've missed something, it will either crash completely or display the "external exception xxxxxxx" error.
Another thing to check for is if you used a standard template or a custom built one? If its a custom one that you saved, copy it from the v4 templates folder to the v5 templates folder.
Hi there TKRAVE.
Was using taw 4 and the file type is m2v. Its a full hd resolution from edius and then I normally just import into taw 4 for br authoring . I think it is smart rendering but I will have to check on this as its so long ago I made these settings. I did notice doing this taw 5 thing that the files are coming in as FR or full render which i never noticed before..i thought they were already good for taw and would have the SR log on them..does taw 4 and 5 not accept mp2 as SR automatically.it takes about 4-5 hours to complete a 2 hour 15 project from output of file and burn for a BR disk...does that sound correct. I heard anton on GV site can do the same in 15 mins..that blew my mind. I am running only a dual core 2 year old computer now....look fwd to response and thanks..rob
I have the same problem with DVD. I have trial of Authoring Works 4and when i decided to buy it was to late becouse version 5 appers, so I bought Authoring Works 5.
Problem is tahat, I'm recording from TV with Pinnacle software which record in mpeg format. In version 4 I made approx 1,5h DVD disc from this recorded source in just few minutes, and with version 5 the same disc is made nearly 2 hours!
It looks like ver.4 didn't encode source when it fits to disc without compression to disc size, and ver.5 endode all source material. It's frustrating to be honest and much dissapointing when you buy software.
I am having trouble with DVD files that I input or import into MasteringWorks 5. A DVD file will input normally as before, but it now has a terribly distorted, psychedelic effect. It is almost impossible to determine what I'm looking at. The encoding will work, but the outputted result has the same distorted look as the input. Was something occurred with my codecs or something to alter DVD files once on the computer?

It's possible TAW5 is using a different file reader than TAW4 did. In the Clip Properties window, it should say which file reader is being used under the video stream info.
See which one it is and you can try disabling it in the Preferences. Once disabled, re-import the clip and see if it looks OK.
I've been using Smart Renderer now for a week, but I have been surprised that it has required re-encoding of my compliant Dolby Digital Audio. The particulars are below:
Same issue here. I'm using the trial (one day so far).
I tried it with AVCHD files from a canon Vixia HF M41 camrea and it all works great but when I tried it wit a .wtv file from windows media center (Audio: Dolby Digital, 48000 Hz, Stereo, 384 kbps), the smart render analyzer shows the audio as all red indicating it will all be re-encoded.
roppp, How were you able to see format changes within the audio?
I used ProjectX to demux the transport stream. During demux process the format change was output as shown above. ProjectX has also the ability to modify the 2.0 ac3 to 5.1 by adding missing (silent) channels ("replace all non-3/2 AC-3 by 3/2lfe silence"). Afterwards the ac3 imported to SmartRenderer is no longer re-encoded.
I believe the iPhone 4 can support H.264 video playback at higher resolutions than MPEG-4 (reaches a max of 640 x 480). The display is 960 x 640, so is it possible for MovieStyle to also support H.264 so that we can have 856 x 480 or 960 x 540 (16:9) resolutions? If so, how about an update to the software to support these higher resolutions?
Perhaps an update is needed to support iPhone5 and newer Android devices like Samsung Galazy S3?
Never mind about iPhone setting - I see this is needed to be set in the Preferences. In a future release, given it's 2012 - most people have iPhone4 - should consider making iPhone 4 the default.
can you tell me which codec is better to use with this program for the best quality ( i allways use mkv-720p to dvd9 ) I do not like the output quality
I have used TMPGenc 4 express successfully for some time. just bought Smart renderer 4 but find that occasionally get extensive pixelation on transitions. i assume that this is related to the Scene Change Detection as it reduced when I removed SCD. the output is very visible for several seconds and therefore is unuseable.
I assumed that SCd would improve transitions not make them very visible. Am I missing something. In the meantime I cannot use Smart renderer 4 and will revert back to 4Express. Is Smart rendere4 a waste of money if you already have 4 express. I just wanted more MTS options for HD video.
Usually Ali_DVR_Export_Tool use for DVB-SD recordings.
Although I get a TS file, to further refine the use MPEG2 MPEG_STREAMCLIP chain, just so I get an MPEG2 file with TMSR4 editable without jumps or excessive pixelation, catches are MPG2 GOP DVB long but MPEG_STREAMCLIP largely corrects this problem, yet perceived a slight loss in the process from (ALI. dvr) -> (. TS LONG GOP 15Mbps) -> (. MPG [Fixed GOP, 8Mbps] = "Editable with TMSR4")
I guess DVB-HD has similar problems to obtain purified chains MPEG2 + MP2 in DVB-SD, besides being LONG GOP, should be equally difficult to obtain in DVB-HD channels in H265 + AC3 clean, they are also editable without major problems. Try try TSDoctor, MPEG_STREAMCLIP, TMSR4.
Hi
I'm evaluating TMPGEnc MPEG Smart Renderer 4. In short I used it to cut a part of a h264 video (BDMV structure with no audio). Output was a m2ts. It played fine on TMT5 player. Then I demuxed this m2ts with eac3to and got a .h264 file. This file played fine too on TMT5 player. After that I remuxed this h264 adding audio track (DTS-HD) using tsmuxer output Blu-ray disk. But I noticed stuttering on video just after cutting part. I tried others output (m2ts, avchd) with tsmuxer but always stuttering.
Out of curiosity I tried mkvmerge using the demuxed h264 track and the audio track and I didn't experience any stuttering on the mkv.
So it seems a problem related to tsmuxer compatibility. Is there any workaround I can use, or maybe some alternative to tsmuxer so I can get a remuxed non-suttering BDMV structure?
FameRing SmartCutter (a competitor to Smart Renderer 4) has a special "tsMuxeR compatible" mode where, after doing the edits, it goes through the entire AVC stream cleaning it up so that tsMuxeR can import the result properly. Sounds like Smart Renderer 4 needs this feature!
I'm not sure what exactly the fixes needs are. With the (very limited) AVC analysis tools I have, the only difference I see is that the POC values are all changed and any negative POC values in the original stream are removed.
I could upload an example of tsMuxeR incompatible and tsMuxeR compatible video if needed.
I experienced poor results using SmartCutter compared to Smart Renderer. But getting an output 'txmuser friendly' would be great. Maybe some developers can explain why at the moment it doesn't work and if a fix will be added
Thanks
DTS-HD and Dolby-THD are a mix of (DTS + MLP) or (AC3 + MLPs), MLP is a codec used in DVD-Audio, and is equivalent to FLAC, the ideal would be to use PCM, PCM is not easily accessible from MLP insert in DTS-HD or Dolby-THD, there are tools like EAC3TOOLS but generally only extract AC3 or DTS audio "CORE" no "MLP". If we obtain PCM from DTS-HD or Dolby-THD is just the problem for seamless editing, PCM is the origin of all sound master, AC3 is a convenient alternative.
