Question - TAW5 BBS - Seriously need help on SRT subtitles, No.69938
Fthailand  2015-09-16 02:27:37 ( ID:3t8cws581hr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

i am presently working on a very important project on a TV series in which i have to import SRT sub files to each episode of over 100, the problem is that all the sub files are all messed up when imported into TWA5 showing characters like this all over the place <i> yes okay !</i>".

is this an italic character issue, if yes how can i solve it without manually editing all 100 episode of an hour clip each ?
am not a professional in subtitling, is it possible to remove all the italic characters before importing to TWA5 ?

Thanks in advance for all your helps

Because I'm deaf as a doorknob I spend a lot of time dealing with .srt files. They are simple text files so you can edit them with any text editor - my favourite is Notepad++.

With Notepad++ you can do two things that would make it trivial to remove the italics tags from all of those .srt files:
1.) You can tell Search/Replace to run across all open files.
2.) You can use regular expressions. (If you don't know much about using reg exp you could still accomplish your task without much extra work: delete the opening and closing tags in separate steps instead of all in one step.

Bug report - TVMW6 - Encoded files using v6.0.7.18-19 will not play on LG TV No.69933
JasonR  2015-09-10 11:54:38 ( ID:kdy1g746hgg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Files I have made using v6.0.7.18 or will no longer play on my LG TV (via USB drive). Using v6.0.6.17 or earlier play without any problems. When trying to play on my LG TV, I get an error on the screen stating "This file is invalid." There is no problem with the file itself (it will play just fine on my computer and other files not created with TMPEnc VMW6 will play on my LG TV). I *think* this problem may be from a change made to the x264 encoder as stated in the changelog for v6.0.7.18 (Improved: x264 encoder updated.) I am not sure if this is the cause of the problem or not because if I use either the x264 or the NVENC encoder the file will not play on my LG TV. But I do know that any files I created using v6.0.6.17 or earlier will play without issue. Any help in fixing this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. And Thanks for making such a wonderful program.

I had a similar problem with h.264/mkv files created by V6.0.7.19 Trial,
playing on my old LG BD370 blu-ray player. Re-multiplexing them with
Mkvtoolnix V5.8 fixed the problem.

BarryB  2015-12-05 09:23:31 ( ID:ta0vkyq424c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am having the same issue with my Samsung TV. I think you are correct about the bug introduction in the last version. One thing that I noticed was that if you open the file using MKVtoolnix you can see that the audio track shows up first as ID 0 and the video track shows up as ID 1. This is completely opposite from any other encoder that I have used. Thoughts?

Now I just need to find out where I can download so my encoding works again. Any ideas?

Question - TVMW6 - NVENC No.69932
Jay  2015-09-10 02:39:04 ( ID:goa37d0jwqr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

How do I get NVENC working? I don't see any options for it in VMW6. I have a Quadro K600 board.

tkrave  2015-09-15 09:30:20 ( ID:t7rw5rdz3jm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You should be able to select NVENC as the encoding engine when outputting an MP4.

cubdukat  2017-04-21 00:56:51 ( ID:q/94uk335rg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Are there any plans to open some of the other encoding options in TVMW6 to being able to use NVENC, like, say, Blu-Ray h.264 rendering? I need to find an alternative to using Intel hardware rendering because it has become increasingly unreliable. It took me two days to render a 45-minute episode of a show because it would always lock up or crash, and never at the same point.

Question - TAW5 BBS - I can't add free play clips in TMPGEnc Authoring Works 5 or 4 befere the menu No.69931
w12  2015-09-09 05:48:47 ( ID:p.aquqz.jwn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello, I can't find this information anywhere, so I am asking for your help, please.
I don't know how to include free play clips in TMPGEnc Authoring Works 5 (or 4) between the first track "locked" track and the track menu.
In other words I am trying to author a Bluray but it's the same if it was a DVD:
in the "First play" Track I need to put the discalimer, and I set the "Restrict control during this track playback".
After that I need to put 3 trailers without the restricted control and after the 3 trailers the track menu should appear.
I really can't understand how to put clips that should play direclty between the first track and the track menu.
Thank you for your help.

I don't think it's possible in TAW4/5 because of the inability to specify end-of-clip actions and other related clip playback characteristics. This is definitely one of TAW's shortcomings which needs to be addressed.

I realize that this forum is designed to be 'User Supported', but users don't have all the answers ... and the TAW design team doesn't appear to want to address the occasional problems that users are unable to address, except in a limited fashion via direct email contact. Whereas, it's far more logical and beneficial to their customers if they would address problems and remedies, publicly ... on THIS forum.

This is certainly a strange way to show customer appreciation to those who are responsible for the success of their products.

It's not possible in this software to add a "first play" item. For a while I was obsessed with first-play videos loading before the menus, and I used a vob file editor to manually add one to the VIDEO_TS folder, but it was a pain in the neck and sometimes ruined your VIDEO_TS folder. Sony's DVD Architect can add a first play, and I think Adobe Encore does it as well. Why these guys don't add that feature I will never know. It definitely makes your DVDs look a lot more professional.

Question - TVMW5 BBS - Dithering during audio conversion No.69927
benoitvm  2015-09-07 22:00:50 ( ID:baocokczmnn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Does TVMW do any kind of dithering when converting 24-bit to 16-bit audio (LPCM) ?

Dithering is also a question in some video conversion scenarios: see my previous post about this:

Question - TVMW5 BBS - saved as a Project File No.69926

Suddenly when I save a video it is saved with a long project name and creating a new sub-directory. What did I do to mess up the preferences? I've tried a number of settings with no success.

Bug report - TVMW6 - Aspect Ratio Problem No.69923
J Monsanto  2015-09-01 20:44:09 ( ID:aizoomxuter )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

So I have a 16:9 clip, it loads in fine. It's from a DVD.

The steps I took are as follows:

Start New Project - Normal Mode

From DVD/Blu-ray/AVCHD

I select the drive the DVD is in using From Drive

It loads everything in fine. The clip shows up as 16:9 like it's supposed to, I look at the properties and it says 16:9 as well. Then when I choose Output to AVI I use the Lagarith codec but it never keeps the 16:9 aspect ratio. It makes it 4:3 Letterboxed. I can't see anywhere to change this and I can't figure out why it changes it because all the settings are right previous to the output of AVI.

Question - TVMW6 - adding many avchd (ts) files No.69917
halfpipe  2015-08-31 04:07:34 ( ID:hemikcpryfg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When adding many (80 + ts files I must spent a lot of time clicking next on each file as it is added. Is this really necessay? Have looked in preferences but can't find a way for the video files to be added without the extra click to accept

halfpipe  2015-09-02 05:55:57 ( ID:hemikcpryfg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

actually this time I have 333 small avchd files to convert to mp4 and it is very unfortunate that TMPENG MW6 cannot simply import these files by selecting all of them a once and importing all into a Project without the need to click "next" 333 times
bummer I have to use a free converter and get inferior encoding but more user friendly

dd  2016-01-18 23:38:06 ( ID:/hkawpubp22 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

This may have been a feature added since your post, but if you use the Source Wizard and choose Add DVD/Blu-ray/AVCHD, then browse to the first level in your file tree (for example, in my Sony camera - It's >Private>), the program will group your files together in Playlists. Very easy to deal with.

Question - TAW5 BBS - Loading Error When Starting Output After Update to No.69911
RonnieJP  2015-08-25 10:13:52 ( ID:cophe1ie0w. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Since I updated to version (over the previous version), every time I start to create the output folder by clicking on the "Start Output" button, I get an error message as follows:

Loading error occurred at address 008E954C of module "TMPGEncAutoringWorks5.exe" with 00000004

The program just waits until I press "OK", then it proceeds to check/erase the output DVD and begin creating the folders. I don't see any errors in the Windows Event Viewer. My OS is Windows 8.1 32-bit and I have 4GB of RAM.
The error doesn't appear to affect the final output, but it is very annoying.

Question - TVMW5 BBS - MP4's crashing TMPenc No.69910
Pete  2015-08-25 01:45:16 ( ID:36bvte2uwrg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Ive run into a new problem with Mastering Works 5 that I never had before. I import mp4s that were exported with Adobe Media Encoder at 1920X1080/Main 4.1/11kbs VBR/Stereo 48khz. I use Mastering to bust these down 720X404/800mg streaming size. I've been doing this for years. Now though when I import an Adobe encoded clip it crashes the program. Any ideas why?
