I was the user that posted that Xpress 4.0 didn't work in windows 7. Come to find out it was an issue with microsoft windows installer (couldn't get any programs to install one day) and the next time the error occured a helpful fix poped up from microsoft on entering a command line to edit the registry. Xpress 4.0 works great under Windows 7...both 64 and 32 bit versions.
I just upgraded my dvd authoring 3 to the new 4.0 Works and will report back on how it performs under windows 7 32 bit.
Just thought I would share with everyone that I am using both TMPGEnc 4.0 Express and TMPGEnc DVD Author 3 with DivX Authoring on a Windows 7 Beta 64 bit platform with no problems at all.
Would like to read comments from those who are using Windows 7 Beta 64 bit and have upgraded to TMPGEnc Author 4.
Allow me to answer my own question...TMPGEnc Authoring Works 4 performs virtually flawlessly with Windows 7 Beta 64 bit. Patience is not a condition I deal with easily which would explain why I went ahead and purchased this product this afternoon!
I say 'virtually flawlessly' because I did experience a minor glitch when creating my own background picture for the menu...the 'keep aspect ratio' option was not available to me. I eventually sorted it out...but I'm not certain how. Kept the finished result as a template...so hopefully will not have to go through it again.
Is it just me...I thought TMPGEnc DVD Author 3 with DivX Authoring featured an option to use NVIDIA CUDA 2.0 for encoding...yet I see no such choice in the current Works 4.
My 'virtually flawless' has now morphed into 'nearly flawless'!
Whenever I 'burn' a 2nd disc using the 'Disc Writing tool' I receive an 'error' message at the conclusion of the encoding...and the disc tray, which is checked for 'eject disc'...doesn't. However...when I remove the disc and put it into my external DVD Player...the Disc plays fine (if only I had known that the first two times it happened.) Just another quirk...I suppose...but I share this info because I think it is worth sharing.

Can anyone over here "Claiming" to be able to run TMPGEnc Xpress 4 on Windows 7 64-bit actually give a method on how to accomplish this? Cause most of us are not able to run TMPGEnc Xpress 7 on Windows 7.
Especially Tarris ... I've seen you post in a couple of different threads that you were able to use a Command Line entry to make everything happen - mind sharing that magical command line with the rest of us??
Do we know when will TAW 4 be officially supported on Windows 7? I tried TE 4 and it works fine. I'm considering switching from Corel's DVD MovieFactory 7 to TAW 4.

I have a season of a cartoon series that is in avi format. I want to convert them to wmv so i can play them in my zune. I have successfully done so with the first few episodes but for some reason a particular episode is sativking at 99% with 2 more frames to encode. Is there something I can do to force it to finish or maybe just quick without the 2 last frames? I have tried stopping then encoding process and am left with a file that is 50 mb shorter than the rest of the episodes. Any ideas?
you may add support for TP0 files decoding simply by ignoring first 288768 bytes of the file. Than it can be handled as already supported TS file. Please contact me if you want to have sample of the TP0 files, typically produced by Homecast SAT receivers.
What about support for 2-pass XviD encoding in one step ?
Sometimes, we find forced subs in an subtitle stream mixed up with normal ones.
(Note: If we extract the subtitles to vobsub files and edit them with subresync, we find that there are both normal and forced ones.)
The forced ones are usually needed translations to our language (it is not english)
We need an option to include only forced subs, not all of them. This could be an on-off option once we have chosen the subtitle stream. Also, showing up if there are forced subs in a stream would help a lot.
Is anyone nows any workarounds for this forced subs issue, I would greatly appreciate it.
I do find the color black very dark when working with the program. Is there a possibilty to change these. I do mean not the MENU of a DVD but the program itself.
There are no options to change the skin of the interface. You may need to adjust the brightness/contrast settings of your monitor if it appears overly dark.
I just wanted to inform you that the installer fails when I try to install the trial version of TMPGenc MovieStyle (TMS_Trial_1.0.6.41_setup_en.exe), on a 64 bit english windows 7 (beta ofcourse). I know it is outside the environment the program is supposed to work in, so im not dissapointed or anything like that. Just wanted to tip you, cause if the installer is all that keeps this software from working on this platform, it might be a quick fix.
I tried to run it as an admin, in regular, vista compatible and xp compatible mode. It stops at "configuring installer". Then it quits and windows start creating a bug report for the beta program.
It seems to be a great product, so i am looking forward to testing it in the future:)
A user who was trying to install TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress ran into a problem during install on Windows 7, but he was able to get around it by using the command line. It's possible it's the same type of error.
I recommended TMPGenc to good friend of mine a week ago. Typically he uses Fairuse Wizard for his encoding, but after hearing about all the good things I had to say about TMPGenc from me, he gave it a shot. He got back to me the other day and claims that the same DVD to DivX encode at the same settings as those he uses in Fairuse Wizard take 9hrs in TMPGenc as opposed to 3hrs in Fairuse.
It could just be that particular encode - more fast action scenes maybe? My old P4 3.2GHz would vary from 4 hours up to 12 hours encoding similar length DVDs. (and using TMPGenc Xpress 3.0) Anyway, my new Q6600 quad core encodes everything I throw at it in 1 hour flat. So I recommend u get a Quad Core :)
I see how to add transitions between clips and to the last clip to fade out. My question is how to add it to the top of the first clip to fade in. The fade transition has a fade in/out, so it seems like it should be able to.
Second part, is there a way to add text? Any plans to add this in the future?
Thanks.
For now it can only add the transition to the end of a clip. A workaround would be to make a solid black clip that lasts for a few seconds. You can then make it fade out/in to your "real" first clip.
If you're using a camcorder, you could probably just record video in a pitch black room or something.
There's currently no way to add text. Would be a good option for credits and titles and such. Hopefully they'll add it in the future.
