I am trying to split up an mpg file. However, there is an error in it, and TMPGEnc wont do anything past the error. I am trying to cut out a certain portion of it, but all I get is the first 24 seconds, before the error in the mpg. How do I bypass this error, or fix it, so TMPGEnc can cut the file?
I share my problem with many users of this progrmmm. After having encoded the AVI File there is no sound in the MPG file. What shall I do? Please help me.
This can happen with compressed audio. Try to open the video with another program like Virtual Dub and save audio to WAV file. Then in TMpegEnc, select your new WAV file as audio source, and the original movie as video source.
Videos for which you don't have the decoder, can't be processed at all, like new Quick Time or Windows Media Format (WMV / ASF support had to be removed from virtual dub because of Microsoft patent. I doubt you can find a decoder other than Windows Media Player / Movie Maker anymore.)
I have a similar problem - although I already hav a .wav file of the audio stream, but when trying to multiplex, TMPG wont recognise it as a valid audio source. Any ideas why or another solution??
I have been using TMPGEnc for a couple of months now. It is a great program. However I have been experiencing a couple of problems. I have converted and burnt numerous movies using this program. Only thing is some of them work on my DVD player and some do not. Some simply say invalid disc. I can not see what I am doing different on the ones that don't work from the ones that did work. Any advice would be appreciated since I have alot of Harddrive being taken up right now with movies that I can't get working.
Using TMPGENC2.5 to merge two mpeg files into one, I find that Audio and video not synchronous with audio lagging behind, why? Please give me possible solution, thanks
When I edit my TV-recordings createt by a Pinnacle PCTV deluxe audio and video are synchronous in the original file. On the DVD created TMPG DVD author the audio is about 5 seconds late. Is there any solution?
What device are you using to capture the video? Some devices don't lock the audio when capturing. It is not a problem with TmpGENC. It is a problem with your capture device.
As Ricardo said: "audio and video are synchronous in the original file".
I agree.

That is wrong, certainly in my case (DVB-T).
DVB captures contain exactly what was transmitted (excepting errors).
Mpeg2 files recorded off digital TV often have errors. TMPEG editor sometimes
fails to cope with the corruptions in a file and produces an out of
sync video.
It is possible to work around this by finding the position of the errors
in the file and proceeding as follows:
video = aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaabbccccccccccccccccccccccccc
where bb is a corrupted part
1) crop out aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa and save as video1
2) crop out bb and save as video2
3) crop out ccccccccccccccccccccccccc and save as video3
4) load video1 video2 video3 back into the editor and save as final
The result should be in sync.
It is painful to have to go to these lengths just to maintain sync.
PVAStrumento (freeware) may be used to locate error positions although in my experience it makes a mess of fixing sync problems.
DVDPatcher (freeware)is excellent for changing the nominal bitrate of dvb grabs from the ridiculous figures like 15Mbit to something more reasonable like
6.5Mbit. This has the advantage of reducing the initial file output size used by
the editor and (possibly) giving DVD compatibility.
I have used tmpgenc for awhile now and I installed it to a new computer and when I first tried to run it the program would tell me that the avi files were very large. I finally discovered that I needed to change the Direct Show VFAPI plug-in. Now when I convert avi to mpeg I will tell it to convert to a certain size and when it is finished It is 100-200 MB larger. What can I do to fix this problem?
Hello! I'm contemplating recording Dish Network AC-3 encoded programs to DVD-Rs. Dish does transmit some movies and other programs in 5.1 multi-channel, and, if all it takes is one of their AC-3 receivers and TMPG's AC-3 encoder plug-in program to do it, then I feel like I'm missing a real opportunity, especially if I can use the same DVD-Rs on which now I'm cranking out DVD-Rs like there's no tomorrow. :>)
After countless Web searches, I still have not seen a complete "flow" of AC-3 recording to DVD. Here's the flow I "think" I understand:
Source (such as Dish Network satellite receiver with AC-3 output, capable of transmitting 5.1 audio channels "inside" 2 output channels) ---> (connected to) ATI-7500 video card (via adapter's left and right audio input RCA jacks) ---> recorded as an MPG-2 video file, with AC-3 encoding program installed on ATI MultiMedia 8.8 program --> Authored (as with TMPEG DVD Author) ---> DVD-R burner, such as Plextor 708-A. Then, remove DVD-R from PC, place in DVD-R compatible DVD player. (Here's 1 more place I'm confused): Output from DVD player's left and right audio outputs (RCA jacks) to AC-3 compatible audio receiver (or A/V, if video fed through it, too), wherein receiver decodes 2 channels into 5.1 channels (the .1 being the subwoofer). Or, must the DVD player's output be an AC-3 specific output (SPDIF, digital optical), and must the receiver's audio input be similar?
I would appreciate any help on this, and especially any links to Web site pages (in this or other forums, etc.), that explain the whole concept of recording AC-3 encoded programs. Russell Farley, Olathe, KS
Has anyone else tried to convert MJPEG (Fuji Camera) format with Ver 2.54?
I could do it with Ver 2.51, but no with 2.54. I've been using the free version, and want to upgrade to allow for DVD burning, but I'm concerned that the newer version won't work with MJPEG.
After using the MPEG tools in TMPGEnc 2.5, occasionally I get a file where the sound will either not be there at all, or at a certain point, the sound ends. No idea why this happens or how to solve it. Anyone else have this problem?? rated.r@gmail.com
At first I want to say, that TMPGEnc is a very nice programm.
But I have one question. After encoding a Video-File (.mpg) to VCD format the new file is much bigger than the source file.
My question is now: How can I shorten the new VCD video file with TMPGEnc so that I can burn it on a 700MB CD?
yah, I too, would like to thank you for this great software. but I have the same problem, when I convert .wmv/avi files the output file size is always much bigger than the source size, is there any way to shorten it? please help.
thats because you are trying to go from a modern mpeg-4 based codec to a circa 1992 codec so expect a 2-4x increase in size for comprable quality, you can make the resulting mpeg smaller, but with HORRIFYING results. this rule holds true assume you are not changeing any resolutions (ie 352x240 to 352x240)
