The problem with Xvid, is that it is MPEG4. TMPGEnc MPEG Editor does not support MPEG4 files. It only supports standard MPEG-1 and MPEG-2, DVD-Video files or DVD-VR (.VRO) files recorded with standalone DVD recorder.
While the file format may not be supported, an "Invalid pointer operation" is caused by poor programming practices, and should never happen in a well written application. A well written application would announce "xyz file format is not supported".
Basically, this condition it is caused by a "wild pointer". Pointers point to memory addresses to be written to or read from. When you try to read or write to an invalid address, you may very get a "Invalid pointer operation" (or an access violation).
Somewhere in TMGEnc, either the pointer that is used is getting stomped on (overwritten with a bad address), or the pointer is incremented to point somewhere that it should not read or write from.
A good programming technique would be for TMPGEnc to provide a message such as "Invalid pointer operation in module xyz : line xxxx", so it could be accuratly reported to the programmer, and he would immediatly know where the invalid pointer operation happened, and could easily fix it. This assumes that the "support" people would actually listen to a bug report, and forward it to the programmer.
I have some clips which is 2300kbps mpeg-1 files encoded by Intervideo mpeg codec. But TMPGEnc MPEG Editor dectect them as 263kbps video. So when joining the clips, the re-encoded portion is very ugly.
I am trying to import my mpeg 2 4:2:2 file but i keep getting an invalid sample format error code 0x80048002. Does anyone know why its rejecting my video? I only have the trial version, as obviously, i want to see if it will work. I am using it to join compatible MPEG files into one file.

>I had this problem and fixed it by removing an ac3 filter.
I am using the Ace mega codec pack.
Using the ace dashboard, this is in the filter section, AC3 filter audio decoder 1.01a file AC3filter.ax.
I got the file name from Gspot.
Remove it using ace or use Gspot to change the merit so that it wont be used.
You can use Intervideo,Intervideo audio decoder 5.3.5.20 file Iviaudio.com or
Moonlight odio dekoda 1.26b4 file mlcom.ax.
Nero came with Nero digital audio decoder, file neaudio.ax. This also works.
Ace says that the moonlight is poor quality so I am using intervideo.
The main problem is that it is in wrong directory, so go to start and search for files and type p3package.dll,then u will get the file, copy it to your desktop and then cut it and paste it to system32 folder in windows directory for windows Xp users and for other windows users copy the file where u will see many files or dll's, which is in system or system32 folder. Then do the same with p4package.dll which u will see error later when u have paste p3package.dll

the .avi file i want to encode to .mpeg is bugfree and runs perfect but if i want to convert it, tmpgenc says that no audio source is available. the .avi has sound though. if i convert it by ignoring that alert, i receive a .mpeg file without sound.
is the sound format probably not known by tmpgenc?
how can i check this?
Hi There the reason why you two are getting this error I believe is that you have got an audio file that is above 44100 htz which is standard for VCD encoding. To change the audio file you may need to change the rate with the use of soundforge. First you will have to extract the audio file and change the bitrate from probably 22050 htz to 44100 htz. That format is very common in AVI files and DVIX files as the lower the bitrate for audio the less space it takes in space. Once you change the bitrate over to 44100 load the video file and then load the audio file and then encode the file using TMPGENC. You will find that in most cases this will work without delays in between audio and video.
For more information check out www.dvdrhelp.com .... there are a few other solutions to this problem but I use sound forge to extract the audio file from the avi file and convert it to the proper bitrate.
After my two mpeg files are merged together to have a single video file by using tmpgenc software, I find that the audio and the video are not synchronous but the audio lag behind for about 5 seconds, Why? Kindly please give me solution, many thanks
