Question - TE25 - Lower Bitrate No.32609
GWUK100  2002-12-31 02:18:48 ( ID:exmt1m8rfer )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

i am currently running version 2.59.47.155
I have been using Tmpgenc for quite some time now for produciong standard VCD's @ 1150kbps. I have tried altering the bitrate (lower) to fit a 100min film onto one 80min cd. Ive looked at many websites through Google and have followed their recommended instructions. As encoding progresses the settings at the bottom of the window indicate that the resulting mpeg should be at 900kbps. Once encoding is finished information about the final mpeg show it to have a constant bit rate of the standard VCD! Does anyone know of any bugs in the above version? if so which version can you recommend that will do the job i want?
please email: gregwilliams100@hotmail.com
THANKS

Minion  2002-12-31 04:58:29 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The 2.59 version have a Bug in it that won"t let the Bitrate go below the VCD Standard, it adds Padding to make the File a Standard VCD, you Can remove the Padding By Running the File through the Mpeg tools in an Earlier version of Tmpgenc or Use and earlier version to encode.Going lower than standard greatly reduces the Quality, actually anything below about 1600kbs is is unwatchable to me, But to each his own...

Free talk - TE25 - Divx+Ac3 -> (S)VCD No.32606
Rick  2002-12-31 01:42:54 ( ID:5mr9jq63jc2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

This board seems to be filled with sound problems when converting from Avi to (S)VCD. I posted my solution a few days back and people responded with posts stating that it did not work. Well I just finished the entire Band Of Brothers which was posted on Alt.binaries.movies.dvix. It worked just fine and has Ac3 audio. Now I'm not doing this to trash anyone just trying to help since there seems to be some misconceptions about this process and I can remember pulling my hair out when I started to do this kind of stuff. Here again is my required software and setting foe TMPGEnc.

1. install Dvix Pro 5.02
2. Install Tsunami Filter pack (Nimo will not work)
3. Install ffcshow and Xvid codecs (incase they are using Xvid codecs)
4. set the eviromental settings for VFAPI-plugin as follows

DirectShow Multimedia File Reader-----Priority 3
AVI2(OpenDML) File Reader-------------Priority 1
Microsoft MPEG-1 Decoder--------------Priority 0
Wave File Reader----------------------Priority 0
AVI VFW Compatability Reader----------Priority 0
BMP/PPM/TGA/JPG File Reader-----------Priority -2
TMPGEnc Project File Reader 2.59------Priority -2

I'm currently using TMPGEnc 2.59 plus. If anyone would like to try this and has problems reply to this post and I'll try to help you out. I've set up 3 systems now all running XP one a P4, one a PIII and one a Celeron, all intels.

Sounds good.

What's ffcshow, though? And which XviD codec would you recommend for Windows encoding (if any)?

Best regards.

You need to install both the Xvid codec and ffcshow to work with the video in TMPGEnc. Just get the latest versions available that should be fine.

Question - TE25 - out of sync No.32604
regman  2002-12-30 22:29:02 ( ID:jmiymllqlvf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm having a problem with a movie I'm trying to encode.....it's ok during playing of the movie until about the middle of the movie....then it goes WACKO OUT OF SYNC!! I've even re-encoded the movie in AVI format with virtual dub, THEN encoded it with TMPGEnc and it STILL goes out of sync at that particular spot. How can I fix this problem? I really want to have this movie so I can put it on DVD disk to play on my DVD player. By the way, I'm encoding it from AVI to MPEG-2 (for DVD format).I thought about frame serving, but I dunno whether that'll do the trick. Somebody PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Minion  2002-12-30 23:42:29 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is the AVI out of sync???? If so then you should Fix the AVI sync before you encode it...If you can find the exact spot were it goes out of sync you can Cut the file at the exact spot it goes "Wacky" then use Virtual Dub(if it is AVI) to Sync up the bad part of the movie then join the 2 parts together after fixing it..But It is Really Hard to fix Files that suddenly go out of sync at a Sertain spot ....

Hello! I am trying to copy my Jrock (Japanese rock) DVDs into VCDs. So far I ahve done ok, but when I want to merge and cut the MPEG1 file with TMPGE when it starts with audio it says illegal video something and it won't let me do it>.< I was wondering if anyone an help. Any help at all would be greatly apprecaited! thanks! arigatou gozaimasu!

Minion  2002-12-30 23:37:10 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Well it would help if you posted the actual error and not "Illegal Video something" ...When Joining Files each file has to have the exact same Specs, so this can be the Problem...

Question - TE25 - VCD header trick No.32598
Jim  2002-12-30 20:58:26 ( ID:/vrfvpjulvo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi all! Happy Holidays,

When using TMPEnc for the VCD Header trick, is there a difference between using "Merge & Cut", "Simple Multiplex", or "Multiplex"?

A subset of this question also pertains to selecting "MPEG-1 Video CD" vs. "MPEG-1 Video CD(nonstandard)"

I've seen permutations of these selections recommened for the VCD Header Trick on several sites, but this seems to be the site with the most knowledge (OK, enough kissing up.... :) ).

I had random success playing with these selections, and I'm wondering if there is a preferred choice. I have enough coasters.

- Jim

Minion  2002-12-30 23:34:23 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

If you use the "Multiplex" to do the "Header Trick" you can get "Buffer Underflow" errors But if you use the "Merge & Cut" then you will not get the error..And you should allways use the "Video-CD(Non-Standard)" setting Cuz the other setting might add Padding to the file to Make it a Standard VCD which it is not Standard...

Jim  2002-12-31 00:56:16 ( ID:/vrfvpjulvo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

- Makes perfect sense....Thanks for clearing that up.

Although this did not work for me (see my current post),
people seem to recommend AVIMUX if VirtualDub doesnt work.

Try searching on avimux in these boards for more info such
as the possibility of AC3 format being the culprit.

Question - TE25 - how to conver ntsc to pal No.32590
kasfk  2002-12-30 17:49:52 ( ID:x.rmf5quc.f )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have an NTSC mpg file where I want to convert to PAL.
How show I setup in TMPGENC to do this ???

Minion  2002-12-30 23:27:03 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You Can"t Convert NTSC to PAL or Pal to NTSC with Tmpgenc, Well you Can But tmpgenc does not do it Properly and the r4esulting file will Play very Choppy in your DVD Player...There are Programs that can convert NTSC to PAL like "Advanced NTSC/Pal Converter" or "Canopus ProCoder" and AVISynth has a Command for this also But Tmpgenc Can not do this.....

Question - TE25 - I want my option back to work with all decoders. I am a registered user. I demand it! No.32585
Que2  2002-12-30 17:14:34 ( ID:vcukkbaymso )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I want my option back to work with all decoders. I am a REGISTERED USER I DEMAND THIS! V2.59 IS GREAT IF ALL THAT YOU DO IS CREATE DVD OR VCD CONTENT, BUT YOUR PROGRAM WAS A GREAT FORMAT CONVERTER AS WELL. The versions after this change seem to not even check the format of the file but only the extension of the file in selecting a decoder.

It also seemed that 2.54 and earlier versions actually checked the format of the file, not just the extension, before saying that it could not do anything with it. In working with all the decoders on your system it was a unique tool that had not blocks nor restrictions. If something didn't work ok it just doesn't work but sometimes you were able to do some surprising things such as asf -> mpeg2.

But I guess they gave into the pressure. But they should have at least given an unsupported option to enable promisciuos decoder mode!!!
The reason for this is they received to many support requests and etc.

I am purchased the Plus version and things went downhill big time since 2.5.4.
I almost wish that I had saved my money but I dream of the good ole days and hope they will bring it back and not just turn this into another piece of crap like DVDit (programmed to crash by people that do not know how to program correctly).
This is a tool. Just like a hammer you can use it for many purposes but they trust you not to wack someone in the head with it or hit your finger.

I just don't think that they trust the Plus or non plus users of the tool to be smart enough to realise they will have problems with some decoders. They could have just listed their supported decoders on paper as supported they did not have to cripple their software. If they want to coddle users release TMPGEnc Wizard mode only or something. I just think it was a stupid overhanded shortsighted descision.

Minion  2002-12-30 23:23:57 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I don"t Know what you are Talking about..Nothing has Changed as of Version 2.54, the Only Change that there has Been is that Tmpgenc Now Supports More Mpeg2 decoders, and this change was Made in the 2.57 version..You can still encode ASF files and WMV files and any format that it has allways encoded...I capture Video to WMV and ASF sometimes and encode it to Mpeg and Tmpgenc Handles them Without a Problem...I think it is Your System that has Changed and not Tmpgenc...You wouldn"t By Chance have Downloaded the Media Player 9 version??? Cuz this can cause the Windows Media Codecs to Not work and make other codecs Not work properly.....

Que2  2002-12-31 20:47:58 ( ID:vcukkbaymso )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Sorry, for my Rant.
You sound like a resonable person.

I only have exp. with 2.54 and lower because they do not link downloads of the 2.57 version. I have tried various other places on the net but no luck in another non-site link for downloading this version for plus. They should have links to the older versions??

I was using the 2.54 version to create mpeg files.
I then was able to open the mpeg files again using browse.
(Note I did not do this using the mpeg tools because it would give me mpeg video and mpeg audio and not the wave export that I was expecting.
Both video and audio would be availible. I would then use the export audio to wav option to export to wave so that I can encode this to ac3.

I upgraded straight to the 2.59 version.
The good thing is that I can generate pcm/wav audio right from the get go. (Cool saves me a step.)
The bad thing is that I still had quite a few mpeg files to do the above process on.
I tried to load the mpeg files created with 2.5.4 through browse with this version and 2.5.9 told me that these were no longer valid files!
Using Mpeg-tools again was not a option because it only allows me to split the stream not export to wav.

I know you will prob. say that I can use some other tool to do this but I ask why? 2.5.4 did this fine and 2.5.7 might (I do not have this version)

I loaded the old 2.5.4 version alongside in another directory and tested quite a few different files and there were a few that could load in 2.5.4 which 2.5.9 seemed to out of hand reject.

So considering the changes involving decoding it seems to me the problem ...:)

As far as danilkadan's problem, it is the similar situation as being described here.

*I have not installed Media Player 9.
*I have tested the above on each of my 5 systems.

Question - TE25 - scrambled video after encoding using ReMPEG2 No.32583
Sanmiguel2000  2002-12-30 16:45:55 ( ID:yu2./gexbio )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi all,

I am new to this DVD to DVD¡ÞR/W ripping methods. I followed the instructions IFOEdit Guides using ReMPEG2 from vchelp.com to reencode a DVD movie that has over 4.7 gb size that I would like to fit in 1 DVR+RW.
The original mpeg play well but after encode video scrambles or has some sort of static when playing with WinDVD. I'm using the standard setting provided by tmpgenc and Iam using win98 se and video card from ATI.

I appreciate any help I can get.

Minion  2002-12-30 23:14:28 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

OK...Your Question Doesn"t really Make Very Much sence...If you are useing the ReMpeg method of transcodeing your DVD then Where does Tmpgenc come in???ReMpeg is a Mpeg Transcoder so if you are useing Rempeg to transcode what are you useing Tmpgenc for??? and You said you are useing a Video Card by ATI, What does this have to do with Ripping a DVD??? or are you Captureing Video Through the ATI Card???as you can see your Question is a Bit confuseing, so Can you be a LOT more detailed in your Question and what you are doing...
