Question - "bridge system" No.70582
rap2  2017-01-05 00:49:23 ( ID:aitjvxtmffr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

My vmw5 has started to exhibit an error message "failed to execute the bridge system (5-5)" when I attempt to edit an flv file. How can I correct this??

Question - Encoding has become very slow No.70533
gstraub  2016-11-21 04:30:41 ( ID:fjsyaxxnyoh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

My Mastering Works 5 encoding seems to have become very slow recently. Short, 10 minute clips now take 45 minutes and more. The slowness does not seem to be based on the type of file I have inputted, but an MP4 seems to be a major offender.

Can someone enlighten me, please? Have I possibly changed a setting, accidentally, or something?

Please help, and thank you very much.

Question - Can I encode part of timeline? No.70452
Meddle Earth  2016-09-08 14:38:40 ( ID:2peo/z8e9xc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have a timeline project consisting of four layers. I made adjustments to each layer until finally being happy with an encoded mp4 result. But now I want to split that mp4 into four parts.
--> Is it possible to designate a part of the timeline project to encode, instead of encoding the whole thing?
--> If so, then I'd designate the 1st part, encode that part. Go back and designate the 2nd part, encode that part, and so on until I have 4 encoded parts instead of one total encoded video.

Question - How to display thumbnails properly when editting a clip? No.70433
Rob Stow  2016-08-24 08:05:18 ( ID:zffotrtbtjh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

A lot of CPU cycles are invested in creating those tiny thumbnails when you are editting a clip in the Cut-Edit window ... and then when the thumbnails are displayed they are overlapped so much that they are often useless. How do I tell TMpegEnc to show the thumbnails side-by-side instead of overlapped so that I can see the full thumbnails?

For example, on my 1920x1200 display, the thumbnails are about 60 pixels high. Thus for a 1920x1080 clip the thumbnails should be about 107 pixels wide ... but what I actually see is only about 60x60 because of that useless overlapping of the thumbnails.

If I could see the center 60x60 region of each thumbnail it wouldn't be so bad.

You can right-click on the main preview, then go to Display Settings, then choose a different setting in the third section.

You can also create your own thumbnail display settings in the Preferences-->Clip editing section.

Hi,
i think you can setup a custom Thumbnail display interval,
try as this:
- on Options > Preferences > Clip edit > Thumbnail interval >
for ex.
User setting 1: setup the interval by "sec interval"
and choose "1"
- then on Cut-edit > make right click over the preview screen > choose Display settings >
and choose "User setting 1 interval..." option
Also you can choose other options such as
For short GOP MPEG
For standard MPEG
etc...
cheers

Question - VSFilter doesn't start with TMPGenc Mastering Works 5 in Windows 7 No.70378
Fernando  2016-07-04 22:26:35 ( ID:vugz2c68h5h )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi, guys. I would appreciate if you could help me with this one: I like to encode avi files with TMPGEnc Mastering Works 5, adding forced subtitles to it. In Windows XP, when I add the avi file to start a new project, TMPGEnc immediately recognizes the subtitle file (.srt) with the same name and all the codecs are started, INCLUDING VSFilter, which take care of the subtitles and allows TMPGEnc to add them to the output movie. In Windows 7, for any unknwon reason, VSFilter doesn't start with the same procedure. Any idea why? I tried TWA6 and the problem persists... Thanks in advance.

Ades  2016-09-02 16:26:53 ( ID:nrp09m2aqdn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I think this could be because the codecs you used in your Win 7 are not present aas they were present in your Win XP, you may need check o it and install such codec for the Win 7 version.
Aslo you may need to check on VSFilter forums probably this is realted to it.

cheers

Question - Video mastering works 5 & Windows 10 No.70367
hagi  2016-06-12 12:03:31 ( ID:img1vlrsknm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I upgraded windows 7 to 10, and now Video Mastering works 5 will not load. It hang at "Launching Application", so is anyone using works 5 with windows 10?

Persen  2016-08-16 17:59:42 ( ID:6tr/46zxmom )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Upgrading an entire OS to another can cause havoc in software that was installed in the previous OS version.
Try uninstall and then make a clean install of the latest version of TVMW5: 5.5.3.108
Can't confirm it will help though, since i chose to stick with Windows 7.

Question - Encoding MKV from a DVD No.70298
kalemvar  2016-04-16 04:53:20 ( ID:8ov7xsjuqhk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I've TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 5 since sometime now and I can't figured it out how to proper encode MKV with good ratio.

I want to encode a dvd (no commercial) to MKV, the source is 1:78:1 16/9 (which is fullscreen on my TV). I've tried lot of different setting but the result is always the same, I've 2 tiny little bars at top/bottom of my MKV file (on VCL and on my TV).

My settings are:

Size : 720x480
Aspect Ratio : Displey 16:9

I've tried: filter resize: Full Screen (no margin) = same result

What can I do ?

Persen  2016-04-18 22:29:44 ( ID:6tr/46zxmom )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I no offense to Video Mastering Works, then i have never used it for converting DVD's.
Instead i use DVDFab 9, where i choose the copy option (muxing) in its DVD ripper, so that image and audio gets copied to a MKV container completely untouched.

Question - 1080p 25fps to 1080p NTSC No.70284
digitalfreaknyc  2016-03-30 06:05:38 ( ID:oi739vo9ncn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Here's a question about rendering a file that starts at, effectively, 25fps (PAL) 1080p to NTSC. What's the best way to present a smooth looking final product?

Persen  2016-03-31 21:51:23 ( ID:6tr/46zxmom )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

There is no PAL or NTSC if the source is Blu-ray, also not if the source is HDTV.
So converting it should not be necessary if you want to watch it on your TV, it will play just fine.

Question - conversion to MOV (DNxHD) still problematic after all these years No.70261
benoitm  2016-03-17 22:55:12 ( ID:whrqtudrlcm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

in 5.5.3.108, I still have problems converting AVCHD to DNxHD (QuickTime):

If I specify 709 color levels in the Avid DNxHD codec settings, I get levels expanded, producing blacks well below 16 and whites expanded from 235 to 255 (de facto causing clipping of any existing superwhites in the source)

If I specify RGB color levels instead, I get apparently correct levels, but there is hard clipping of any existing superwhites at 235 (losing whatever useful info is present there)

Anyone to confirm ?
Any workaround ?

Question - Set default output location to location of source files No.70233
Rob Stow  2016-02-24 05:57:12 ( ID:pukzkxfjbil )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I *ALWAYS* want my output to go to the same folder as the input files but TMPGEnc always defaults to the last folder I outputted to. Is there a way to stop that behaviour and have it default to the source file folder instead?

Ades  2016-03-01 15:58:14 ( ID:nrp09m2aqdn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Check on Options > Preferences > Work folders >
Default output folder:
there you can set your default output folder.
cheers

Question - No Sound when loading MKV files No.70232
heavyend81  2016-02-23 18:14:19 ( ID:ufsr.l52azr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

First post for me guys. I am using TVMW 5 but would like to upgrade to 6 but I need to sort a problem before I spend my money. When loading an MKV video into a project it says No Audio Data. There is audio on the video so can anyone tell me how I can get it to pick up the audio stream. I don't want to be extracting the audio file in another programme and then adding it to this as surely it should be picking it up in TMVW5. Thanks

Persen  2016-02-25 20:56:26 ( ID:6tr/46zxmom )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I guess these MKV's contain DTS audio, correct? That's not supported, unless you give it a little help, by using external direct show filters.
I have DTS and Dolby True HD support, because i let Haali Media Splitter and FFDSHOW (32-bit) take care of the rendering.

Does require to make a few changes of settings to be done first in both TVMW5 and FFDSHOW (32-bit) to get it working:

FFDSHOW Audio decoder configuration Codecs:
TrueHD change to libavcodec
DTS change to libdts
Uncompressed change to disabled

FFDSHOW Audio decoder configuration Mixer, put tick in box to activate Mixer and then:
Output speaker configuration: Change to same as input

FFDSHOW video decoder configuration Codecs:
VC-1 change to wmv9
Raw video change to all supported

TVMW5:
Options => Preferences => File input plug-in
Here remove ticks from everything EXCEPT at FLV1 / FLV4 file reader and DirectShow file reader

MPEG => MPEG decoder, here change everything to Standard decoder

Click OK to exit, shut down TVMW5 and reload to make changes take effect.
What is mentioned above, can also be used in TAW5 to get that one to use Haali Media Splitter and FFDSHOW for rendering instead and get DTS support.

Haali Media Splitter and FFDSHOW (32-bit) download links:

Adding to this, if you have elder video, who has been encoded with Dolby Digital, which also contains Dolby Pro Logic or Dolby Pro Logic II, then its possible to force this in to Dolby Digital 5.1
What you have to do in FFDSHOW's audio decoder configuration, is to put a tick at Dolby decoder.
Then TVMW5 will believe that the audio source is Dolby Digital 5.1
