TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 5 BBS [ Sorted by thread creation date ]
I discovered that the new Slideshow speed filter can be used to turn a group of time lapse photos into a video. The above video was made from 350 photos taken 5 seconds apart. The program split them into 2 slideshow clips because of the 200 photo limit. I set the photo duration at 1 second, and a crossfade transition of 1 second. Then I set the speed filter to 10 times faster.
The photos are 4000x3000, so I first set the pan and zoom to crop to 16x9 aspect ratio. The corner handles appeared, but I couldn't drag them, although I could move the x,y of the picture. I have the text size set to 125% in Windows 7 (Personalize/Display). Setting it back to 100% worked around this problem, but makes it hard to see the screen on my TV across the room, where I like to work. Hopefully, this bug will be easy to fix.
Another bug I discovered is that the Position/Size values for a keypoint seem to have limits, so they aren't correct when you zoom past a certain point by dragging the handles. Also, if you change them manually, the amount of zoom doesn't always change. I think you need to change both height and width whenever you change one of them, if you have fixed aspect ratio checked.
The 200 picture slideshow limit means there is often more than one clip. When going from the end of one clip to the beginning of the next one, it is important to be able to match the keypoint values. Since the displayed values aren't correct at higher zooms, there is no way to do this except by dragging with the mouse, which is inaccurate and frustrating.
So it would be very useful to be able to copy and past keypoints (Sony Vegas has this feature). If the displayed keypoint values were correct, you could do this one value at a time, but that's tedious.
Another bug I noticed is that when you get to higher zoom values, the x/y motion gets "jerky." I suspect this is a truncation problem from using single instead of double variables in the code. This is noticeable in the high zoom part of the video.
Finally, instead of using linear zoom/panning between keypoints, it would be more useful to have smooth starts and stops. That is, instead of starting off at full zoom/pan velocity, you accelerate up to that velocity and then decelerate back down to 0 at the end. Sony Vegas has the option to set different types of keypoint acceleration, but just changing from linear to smooth would probably be good enough for this program, and avoid having to add more input options.
I'd like to say that being able to use the slideshow speed filter to make time lapse video with crossfades between pictures at full resolution is a fantastic feature that I haven't seen anywhere else. Being able to zoom and pan within the slideshow without loss of resolution is something other programs can't do either.
It would be useful to raise the limit of pictures in a slideshow from 200 to as high as possible (3,000 to 5,000 maybe?). The ability to join two slideshow clips together so you could zoom between keypoints in different clips would serve the same purpose.
open a iPhone 4S created mov video i cant change the framerate from detected 31,583 to that one i want (30fps). this is why my output clips are jittering.
Can't you change the framerate in the Clip Properties tab of the Clip Editor? Since it's a mov file, you should be able to set the framerate (usually, only MPEG files have a locked framerate setting).
Hello!
I download and install TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 5 (trial)
But this program can't import my MPEG-2 HD-video, only audio track was imported.
This MediaInfo example of my source files:

Whether you plan such enhancement in your program?
Thanks and excuse my awful English.
After installing VMW5, no videos installed on my system with a .WMV format will play in MS Media Player. Audio plays, video will not display.
I have Win7 64bit, 6 gig RAM. I have latest Radeon video drivers installed, I have run MS Fix tools on Media Player, but stil no luck. .WMV play fine inside VMW for editing - but not the output. -Files generated on my system in .wmv format, work fine on other PC's.
That's weird. I can play wmv files fine, I can even play the same file at the same time in both windows media player and TVMW5. I'm also on Win7 64-bit.
Is it possible to have full importation SUP/IFO support in both Video Mastering Works and Authoring works. Noticed that WTV and TS DVB subtitles do not correctly display in certain situations i.e. wrong placement and colors. Correct handling of DVB subtitles can be achieved using ProjectX demux function.
I got the same problem with the DVB Subtitle as well, when try to render the TS file to any format, the subtitle will display on the left middle, instead of bottom. Any Solution or could fix that please? Thanks
I bought and install the software Mastering Works 5 only to realise it does not work and warning that it cannot find TImageDataSplash_enDataModule and shortly another pop up says MPEG Stream (%s)|%s).
kindly assist or i required an refund, afterall it is not a 20 software, i paid 99 bucks for it.
I have exactly the same problem. Please let me know if you find a solution - I've tried reinstalling, repairing, downloading again and still no success :-(
Okay I have located the fix. Here's is how you do it.
Load a test AVI file.
Go to "options" tab in upper right hand corner
Go to preferences
Clip on File input plug-in
Un-Check Media Foundation file reader
Options => Preferences => Input/output format list => File input plug-in
Here you uncheck everything but NOT DirectShow file reader.
Shut down TVMW5.
Go to the videohelp.com site and locate Haali Media Splitter and FFDSHOW, download them both and install them (Haali first, FFDSHOW next).
During install of FFDSHOW, you will be offered to change settings about video and audio, don't!
Just install with its preset settings.
Reboot computer.
From now own when ever you open a video file, the decoders TVMW5 will be using is Haali and FFDSHOW, two extremely stable decoders used by thousands of people.
It is also possible to open some videos files you previously had no support for, just open those by choosing All files.
You can get asked after choosing to open the files how you wish to import them, just choose Import 'as is', since that makes Haali and FFDSHOW take care of the decoding.
Since I updated my TMPGEnc Master Works 5 to the latest version v2.4.68 I can
no longer process either mpeg2 or h264 using an aviSynth.avs file as an input
source. The program will start to encode and then crash/shutdown after about
60 seconds of processing.
Program is also crashing when I include a discrete ac3 audio file to process.
I upgraded my TMPGEnc Author Wotks 5 to the latest version and it is now also crashing with an AviSynth video and ac3 audio file.
Anyone have any ideas about why this is happening?
I'm a happily paid user of video mastering works 5.
I use this on my main beastly machine but will soon. E taking a trip and want to use my laptop to create some slideshow movies for friends while I'm on the road, which means installing my licenced copy onto my laptop, meaning a second install for my onelicence?
Is this possible as I've checked with so e other productive bought and been told in all accounts yes as long as you don't run it on. Oth machines at the same time. Which should be fine since I can't use the other machine at the same time anyways.
For the purpose of making a DVD, assuming I don't need to apply any special filters, is there any benefit to using TVMW5 to make a DVD compliant MPEG first out of my FLV souce file and then use that MPEG as my source in TAW4? Or am I better off just using the FLV source file in TAW4 and bypassing TVMW5 altogether? Or does it make any difference?
Addition to the above: I want to be sure I get the best possible video quality is my primary concern in askiing. In either case, I would use 2 pass VBR at the highest bit rate possible so it fits a 4 GB DVD.
You might be better off just importing the source file into TAW4.
You can set the encoding to 2-pass VBR and max out the bitrate in the track settings for each track.
Since you're not using filters and you're encoding to MPEG-2, I'm not sure there would be any advantages to using TVMW5, unless you need to do some major editing or are using a hardware encoder such as SpursEngine.
