Question - tmpgenc xpress 4.7.4.299 No.59237
hngor  2010-01-14 11:23:18 ( ID:ipgcih3uhul )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello.

I saw that a new version of tmpgenc xpress is available in german and in japanese and I want to know if there will be a french version? If yes when?

Thanks in advance.

Phoenix  2010-02-20 19:45:37 ( ID:zz2naspzovj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I myself am French and I find it a pity not to have my software in French, when a file "language.ini" for "tmpgenc xpress 4" and "mpeg editor 3"

to translate or even its software duly paid, if the publisher has not the courage to do it

Question - tx4 4.7.4.299 won't import .wtv No.59234
stevestrange  2010-01-14 04:45:35 ( ID:ojizds1jjz2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I just downloaded the latest Xpress 4.0 update which claims to import .wtv files. The "add file" dialog box does not include wtv in the "all supported file" filter. Adding a wtv via drag-n-drop results in "Cannot open the file xxx.wtv". I am running Win7.

You have to use the Source Wizard and select the Windows Media Center recording option.

Question - Encoding: TMPGEnc Xpress or DVD Author 3? No.59230
Bob  2010-01-13 16:20:14 ( ID:5naf9/4evxn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have a DVD I want to re-author. As far as video quality is concerned, am I better off using TMPGEnc Xpress to encode the original DVD's video content into an MPEG file and then use that MPEG file as the source for my re-authored DVD, or am I better off just using the original DVD's VOB files as my source files for the re-authored DVD? I was planning on using 2-pass VBR as my video encoding scheme in either case. Seems like the 2nd option would be best as it avoids another encoding step, but I'm not sure if there any differences between the encoding engines in TMPGEnc Xpress and DVD Author 3.

Comments? Thanks!

tkrave  2010-01-13 18:28:44 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'd say go with DVD Author 3. Since you're going from DVD to DVD, TDA3 won't re-encode the content, ensuring the quality will remain the same. As you've said, going through 4.0 XPress will just create another generation of encoding and could make the quality worse. However, if you are trying to make the content look better and want to apply some of 4.0 XPress' filters, then that might be the only reason I'd use XPress over TDA3.

I'm not sure what (if any) the differences are between their encoding engines other than the fact that TDA3's is more limited, but it's a moot point in this case since TDA3 won't re-encode the DVD content.

Bob  2010-01-13 19:25:02 ( ID:5naf9/4evxn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks tkrave. One more thing I forgot to mention...I am editing out the first 10-15 seconds of the original DVD using TDA3. Does that mean that it will be re-encoded?

tkrave  2010-01-13 22:53:11 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It shouldn't be re-encoded, even if you cut-edit it. That's the beauty of smart rendering. It will only re-encode a few frames before and after the section you cut-out.

Do you have a French or an English license? If you have a French license, you can't use the English updates and vice-versa.

Question - Editing "Large" Files No.59225
Nathan  2010-01-07 06:06:52 ( ID:tcdelegjdc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

We're starting a local access television station and would like to use TMPGEnc Xpress to break apart shows (to insert "commercials" and station information, etc). I don't actually need to insert the ads using Xpress, but rather, to simply break the show into multiple clips.

I've had no trouble doing this with smaller files, but some of the larger files prove difficult: When I load a 700MB file and begin to scroll through the show in the "cut-edit" window, the program becomes non-responsive and I have to kill it. Is there a solution to this?

I suspect it has something to do with rendering thumbnails in the timeline, but I'm probably totally wrong.

I'm on a Windows Vista Home Premium laptop with 2GB of RAM.

Incidentally, we plan also to use Xpress to reduce the size of very large (4GB) video files to something more manageable.... I hope this is the right tool!

Thanks for your help.

tkrave  2010-01-07 18:28:08 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

How fast is your processor?

For large/HD files, the faster your processor, the better. More RAM wouldn't hurt either.

Navigating clips that are large can be a bit slower. Sometimes you can fast-forward through clips faster than it can render the thumbnails and when that happens, it tends to slow things down. Just be patient and the program usually catches up.

Personally, I think 4.0 XPress is great for converting video to better compressed formats such as DivX and MPEG-4.

Question - MPEG for DVD converted with TMPGEnc4XP out of sync on DVD No.59223
Los Angeles Techie  2010-01-06 18:15:03 ( ID:xv8qmvludvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When I converted an AVI file to MPEG and burned it to a DVD using Windows DVD Maker, the sound and video get progressively out of sync. Any idea why this is? I was thinking that setting it to "MPEG for DVD" was wrong and that I should set it to "MPEG file".

tkrave  2010-01-07 18:32:29 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Check to see if it is out of sync before you output the file. I think there is a bug where the audio can become out of sync when an imported file uses the DirectShow reader.

Question - green screen when encoding Blu Ray files No.59221
Stratman  2009-12-30 04:19:50 ( ID:/5giccaovgw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello forum,

I could use some help with Blu Ray files (.m2ts). I have been encoding .mkv files without any problems but now when I try to import a Blu Ray folder, I am only seeing a green screen? Do I need to have specific codecs installed to be able to view the .m2ts files? I can view my BluRay's fine in Total Media Theatre, just not in TMPGEnc Express 4.0 (4.7.3.292). I am also running Windows 7 64bit with a Intel E8400 3.0GHz processor and 4G of RAM. My video card is an ATI Radeon HD 4770. Thanks for the help.

Question - Best Conversion for a Youtube upload? No.59219
DeeZo  2009-12-29 23:23:22 ( ID:4vbqqgas2y2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi, I was wondering what the best (quality wise and quality/size ratio) output file would be for a wmv file that I get from a screen recording program.
Any ideas?

Thanks!

TM2-Megatron  2010-01-17 09:15:13 ( ID:vcfxne6ofl2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The best option for a Youtube upload would be H.264/AVC, as that's the format YT itself uses and is fairly resistant to transcoding-related degredation at decent bitrates.

Question - Dolby Digital with WMV files No.59216
Michael Waterman  2009-12-28 19:56:16 ( ID:envivfne0lk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Dear all,

I was wondering if anyone knows how to get Dolby Digital Audio in a WMV using xpress 4.0? I'm converting my DVD's to WMV files and would love to have the same quality sound output as my original DVD's have. The 5.1 support that the currect version of xpress has is good, but imho DD is just a bit better.

I've seen the plugin on the site to support dd in xpress, but that isn't supported on Windows 7 and is "only" 2 channel.

Thanks!
Michael

tkrave  2009-12-30 18:23:50 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

That plugin isn't for 4.0 XPress, it's for older software that they don't even sell anymore. All of the features of the plugin are already in 4.0 XPress.

At this point there's no way to encode 5.1 Dolby Digital audio with 4.0 XPress.

Aurien  2010-01-10 21:30:41 ( ID:jxf/k3kpzra )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I've been encoding my DVD collection to WMV for streaming in my house. I've got no complaints or problems with using WMA 10 Professional for the audio portion. I've been using the following settings for audio:

Audio codec - Windows Media Audio 10 Professional
Audio encoding type - 2 pass VBR (average/peak bitrate)
Audio format - 384kbps, 48kHz, 5.1 Channel 24 bit VBR
Peak bitrate: 768kb/s
Maximum buffer duration - 4000ms

I've been doing all kinds of movies, everything from action to musicals. You can also use 9.2 if you want to go lossless, but you'll increase the file size quite a bit. My opinion it's not really worth the file size. Sounds just as good with the above settings.

Question - Can you work together Adobe Premiere CS4 and TMPGEnc Xpress No.59212
zipperzoi  2009-12-26 17:35:21 ( ID:jblk5oe5dy. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Does anyone know how I can work with Adobe Premiere CS4 with videos in Full HD (1920x1080 60i Sony EX-3 recorder) and encoding TMPGEnc Xpress 4.0 for master videos or Bluray. XDCAM codec MP4 videos? Frame server does not work anymore!
Is there another way to do this? How can I make a backup of my videos edited with Premiere CS4 using TMPGEnc Xpress? I really like TMPGEnc! He is the best encoder there!

i too wish that xpress could work together with sony vegas and adobe premier pro, would save a lot of time encoding.

Zipperzoi  2009-12-29 23:39:24 ( ID:shiicvlgnol )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I use Adobe Premiere from 4.2 in 1997, Premiere is definitely very bad to work with the Adobe Media Encoder! He is very slow and the quality of video encoding I do not like! The TMPGEnc is the best! The Pegasys could produce a frame server to Vegas and Premiere?

MathewLisett  Home )  2009-12-30 20:13:03 ( ID:cwi0fjykkbk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

the problem though is that adobe premier pro has a lot of filters such as tilt and swivel that tmpgenc SHOULD but dont have.

Question - TMPGENC Xpress 4.7.1.284 error with Quicktime install No.59210

Re-installed both again and it's all right! The TMPGEnc is 100% work and Quicktime is 100% work.

Question - ¿what about ati stream support? No.59206
Joshua  2009-12-25 03:27:26 ( ID:4/zeznvhk92 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I see Tmpgenc xpress has cuda support, someday is it tmpgenc xpress going to support ati stream?

TM2-Megatron  2010-01-02 23:33:39 ( ID:hfeksu9rvjl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I second this. ATI is a major player, and their current 5000 series are arguably the best for HD gaming and also for use in Home Theatre PCs.

Support for ATI Stream would be greatly appreciated.

kryotex  2010-01-13 19:14:32 ( ID:xzicytpthbr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I disagree; AMD/ATI is a minor player in the worldwide market. I'm not arguing whether AMD/ATI is better or worse, just that Pegasys should first complete full support for CUDA 3.0 with current Nvidia drivers. Then make a version supporting MacOS-X & CUDA, since Macs are Nvidia/CUDA-only with no ATI suport.
Once CUDA is implemented correctly in TMPGEnc4, with MacOS platform, then begin adding other less popular. Just my opinion to Pegasys; get CUDA working perfectly first, since it works on both Windows & MacOS. Don't try to do two implementations (CUDA & ATI Stream) and have them only half working. For ATI users out there, I'm sure there'll be support for ATI Stream technology when the number of users needing that begins to reach higher levels.

TM2-Megatron  2010-01-16 22:12:37 ( ID:vcfxne6ofl2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

There's nothing stopping them from working on both at the same time. They can continue to improve CUDA support, while working on adding ATI Stream. The current HD 5x00 line of cards is vastly superior to nVIDIA's current offering, and this is starting to show as of Q3 2009, when nVIDIA's market share dropped 4.3% in just one quarter. With more HD 5x00 products available throughout the entire fourth quarter of '09, I'm sure the results from the final quarter will be even more dramatic.
