Question - Batch encode No.43505
KJ  2005-11-26 14:38:51 ( ID:lhenn9hhhuo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi,
I am using TMPGenc to encode .avi home movie clips to .mpg however one tape will contain about 100 clips and the wizard will only allow me to add one clip at a time to the batch file. Is there a quicker way or a different program that will do it?

Regards

KJ

Question - xvid No.43499
adonisxx  2005-11-23 16:45:30 ( ID:9ypykpxnonl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

i know that this really don't have anything to do with tmpgenc but cannot anyone recommend a program that can convert your dvd to xvid?

thanks in advance guys!!

ashy  2005-11-25 22:12:49 ( ID:/larvwb4b.6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Yeh, TMPG can do it.

adonisxx  2005-11-28 04:27:18 ( ID:gqffzvjkplo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

thanks for your reply back, i did not know that you could convert dvd to xvid with tmpgenc. would you mind explaing how? to start i guess you would convert your vob files to an mpeg file?

ashy  2005-11-28 21:20:56 ( ID:/larvwb4b.6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

TMPG can open VOB files, but it's not advisable as it doesn't allow audio track selection.
You will need DVD2AVI to create a .d2v project file from the VOBs (takes a few minutes) then load the .d2v into TMPG.
Set up the file as you want it created, I.E. ouput size, filters e.t.c. then go to File>Output to file>AVI file. Next just select the codecs you want to encode with and choose to save the file somewhere.

ashy  2005-11-28 21:23:42 ( ID:/larvwb4b.6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

P.S. you can use just DVD2AVI to create the AVI, but I find you have more control over the output if you let TMPG do it.

Question - Video is reversed and upside down, How do I fix this? No.43495
ReesesH  2005-11-21 07:00:03 ( ID:xxkfpuet.wm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have used the old version of TMPGEnc for several years converting to VCD but decide to finally start converting AVI to DVD and all the video is reversed and upside down like a mirror image. Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem? I have never had anything like this happen before.

ashy  2005-11-22 12:10:13 ( ID:/larvwb4b.6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Which codec are you using, Xvid?

Several ways to deal with this. Go onto the BFAPI settings in TMPG and put the 'OenDML' or 'VFW file reader' filter as top priority in the list

or

Download and install FFDSHOW, that should sort the problem. If not then go into FFDSHOW configuration and put a check in the 'flip picture' option under 'Output' in the menu.

ashy  2005-11-22 12:11:00 ( ID:/larvwb4b.6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Sorry that should say 'VFAPI' not 'BFAPI'. You can find it in the 'Enviromental settings'

Hello,

I am having the same problem. I am attempting to convert .mpg files to a smaller size for playing on a portable device, with PocketTV. The video comes out backwards and upside-down. I tried all 3 things that you said, and it is still the same. Any other ideas? Thanks.

Question - About mpv and hand held gadgets No.43486
Kennet  2005-11-15 17:48:49 ( ID:emvezspsy6f )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi!

I'm new to all this Video stuff and I hope that you guys can accept that, so please don't bite my head of...;)...

I have one of those new gadgets in my hand, it's a MP4 player and I wonder how to convert let's say a mpeg, avi or mov to the format used in this device. The file extension it uses is *.mpv. I have tried to follow your discussions on this board but a lot of it is above my head I’m afraid.

So If some of you guys can give me a hint on how to use TMPGEnc to convert a simple mpeg to *.mpv I would be very thankful, If it's possible at all..:)

Best Regards
Kennet

PS. Please, keep it simple...

ashy  2005-11-16 18:41:12 ( ID:/larvwb4b.6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Will it play any MPEG4 format?
If so then use Virtualdub for creating your MPEG 4's which is designed for AVI.

You can use TMPG if you wish, but you need an MPEG4 codec installed such as XVID then you can encode to MPEG4.

Kennet  2005-11-16 19:41:24 ( ID:emvezspsy6f )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

No I'm sorry to say that it only works with the *.mpv format. I have one
working video file, a file that comes with the player default. I've tried to
play it using different software's in my PC but nothing outside the
MP4-player can read the file format, It seems.

I have found people at several places asking the same questions about how to
convert a more commend file format into this strange *.mpv format. It seems
as if it's not possible to find any converter at all on the net. I've been around
everywhere to try and find something.

Should this really be so extremely difficult, or is it me who have been
looking in the wrong places.

I'm more then thankful for all tips I can get....
Best regards

Kennet

PS.
Here you have the device I'm trying to figure out...

ashy  2005-11-17 19:13:15 ( ID:/larvwb4b.6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Can you send me a portion of this file or upload it somewhere, say a couple of megs and I'll find out what it is?

Kennet Carlsen  2005-11-17 22:08:29 ( ID:emvezspsy6f )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

That would be great if you could take a look at the file. I don't see your mail address here at the BBS, but you can send a mail to my address and I'll zip the file and I’ll send it to you in a replay-mail.

The zipped file is 5.18 MB in size, I hope that's okay. It's difficult to take a smaller piece since I have no means of edit or even to view the video outside the MP4-player.

Finally I only want to say that I’m very thankful that you are prepared take some of your time to look at this problem.

Best Regards.
Kennet Carlsen

Question - Converting Quicktime .MOV file into .mpg file error - there is no sound No.43481
Henry  2005-11-09 22:44:40 ( ID:z0jnd5wele2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am trying to convert Quicktime .MOV file into .mpg file using tmpgenc version 2.524.63.181, free version I downloaded. I got qt plugin and I can open Quicktime file and run transfer and make .MPG file but .MPG I make has no sound. Original Quicktime .MOV file has sound but it does not convert. Please help

ashy  2005-11-09 23:40:28 ( ID:/larvwb4b.6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Use quicktime or graphedit to convert the audio to a wav first.

Henry  2005-11-11 22:34:56 ( ID:z0jnd5wele2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I don't have ful version of Quicktime only trial version. Version that I have does not have save option so I can not export sound from .mov file. I tried downloading this graphic software but that does not allow me to export audion either. Do you have any other suggestions?

John  2005-12-20 06:00:17 ( ID:z58arhv39gk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Use dBpowerAMP Music Converter R11.5 and the appropriate plugins for Quicktime to convert the Quicktime .MOV file to a Windows .WAV file. Use the Quicktime .MOV file as your Video Source and the Windows .WAV file as your Audio Source when using TMPGenc. This should solve your problem.

You can find Use dBpowerAMP Music Converter (and a variety of plug-ins) for free at: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm

dBpowerAMP Music Converter is also an invaluable free application for converting any audio format that you can think of including .MP2 files in VCD and DVD formats.

kj  2006-04-15 12:02:32 ( ID:6z0pxcas1f2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I've used TMPGEnc 2.5 with Tmpegbatchlist to encode loads of .mov files to mpeg with no problems with sound however recently the sound has stopped encoding for no apparent reason. I suspect it followed an update to my quicktime software. I've tried reinstalling but no luck. This is a real pain as I need to re-encode from .mov to mpeg to put my camera movies on dvd. It may end up being better to just buy another camera that doesn't use .mov format!

Thx

I am trying to convert files, and I get an error message saying that my file is not supported, what can I do to fix this? Let me know.

Fred  2005-11-02 17:00:08 ( ID:p9kkbo6uqer )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I used this program succesfully one time but when I later wanted to encode another AVI file I got the same error message:cannot open file or unsupported file. What can we do? Somebody please respond.

Thanks

ashy  2005-11-03 17:46:14 ( ID:/larvwb4b.6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Download and install FFDSHOW.
If that doesn't solve the problem then change the priority of the 'Directshow file reader' in the VFAPI plugins to 2.

I use Morgan multimedia codec to capture avi's,the older tmpgenc accepts these avi's.but can only output to ntsc dvd mpgs and pal vcd.The newer versions of tmpenc can output to pal dvd but don't accept my morgan multimedia captured avis, only rgb ?.it is too time consuming to convert in my older tmpgenc to ntsc mpg and then open the ntsc mpg with the latest tmpenc and convert that to pal.WHY can't my latest tmpenc open my avi's so i can make pal dvd format files

ashy  2005-10-15 13:39:09 ( ID:l6myzaw0sv. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I know this will probably get ignored by admin as they usually do, why is it I cannot post on this site unless I access it through a proxy?
I have posted on this site for years and now all I get is 'There is an error in your article'
Reason: 'Restricting it'

'Restricting it'???

What the hell for. Sort it out or lose another valued member or give me a reason why?

Question - QTReader and Quicktime 7 No.43465
tonyfox  2005-10-13 19:18:28 ( ID:dcp3cik6wac )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi

Does anyone know if QTReader.vfp works with Quicktime 7? I have previously successfully encoded QT ref movies (exported from Avid Xpress dv) with TmpgEnc 2.5 Plus. But no success since installing Quicktime 7 Pro. When I try and load a QT source file (either a ref file or a normal file with media)I get a message "can not open or unsupported".

Any suggestions gratefully received

ashy  2005-10-13 21:03:48 ( ID:i/lxpysjv4o )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Forget using that old plugin and install 'Quicktime alternative' instead. It's a directshow codec that will work in any directshow compatible program and is much faster than the QTreader.vfp.

tonyfox  2005-10-14 12:47:41 ( ID:dcp3cik6wac )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks Ashy

I've tried installing "Quicktime alternative" already. I removed the QTReader.vfp file from tmpgenc and made the Directshow reader top priority in the vfapi window but still no joy.

Any thoughts?

ashyx  2005-10-15 13:20:35 ( ID:nkgkahydadl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Try and open the QT file in AVISYNTH first and then frame serve it to TMPG. Should work then.
TBH I've not used Quicktime pro 7, but I've used 6 and it works perfectly in TMPG with the QT alternative codec.

tonyfox  2005-10-17 14:30:39 ( ID:dcp3cik6wac )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks Ashy

I'll try it and post a follow up

Teriyaki  2005-10-21 07:40:28 ( ID:dobue5yebuk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Are there any extra steps after installing "Quicktime Alternative" that need to be done in order for TMPGEnc to recognize it?

I, too, have not been able to encode QT Ref files after installing QT 7 Pro, and it's really frustrating. I've resorted to re-installing v6.

>Forget using that old plugin and install 'Quicktime alternative' instead. It's a directshow codec that will work in any directshow compatible program and is much faster than the QTreader.vfp.

Jean-Baptiste  2005-11-09 14:00:18 ( ID:qjz3rphdflo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is there a way to use QT7 without avisynth ?
(and without QTreader.vfp because it crash at the end of each encoding)
