Question - Plug-in to decode .MOV files? No.33751
Stan  2003-01-20 16:25:50 ( ID:vsprmz88.ka )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is there a TMPEGENC plug-in so it will read Quicktime (.MOV) files? I would like to splice & convert my Nikon Coolpix 2500 15 second silent videos to MPEG / VCD, etc.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Best,

Stan

Question - Movie encoding error No.33746
CloudyDaze  2003-01-20 15:19:29 ( ID:jtp/hhudocc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I try to encode a DIVX file but it gives a black screen but the audio is fine so any help would be greatful

B_Racer  2003-01-20 15:34:04 ( ID:gxmkoa4dlnj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Try to load the DivX-Video into VirtualDub and use VirtualDub as Frameserver.
If this does'nt work, you maybe need the right Codec.

Minion  2003-01-20 22:29:43 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Go to "options" to "enviromental settings" to "Vfapi Plugins" and raise the "Direct show" to "2"...

Dmitrijg  2003-01-20 14:16:25 ( ID:0n/gi1ssn7g )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Sorry to disturb... But I tried all possible means to open the downloaded TMPGEnc-2.510.49.157-Free.zip file (and others), and it does not open saying "ZIP archive is invalid or corrupted"

Is there a trick?

michaelX  2003-01-20 09:09:03 ( ID:nxjofu2v2io )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

This is the error I get after a few minutes encoding of one movie, then TMPGEnc simply does not go on to encode allthough the file is a lot longer. Any Ideas what I could do?
Thanks!

What are the source files? Avi's? Which codec?
Are the source files corrupted perhaps?

Try checking your hard disk with Scandisk or some other tool.

I'm also having this same problem with a XVID encoded video. The movie is about 900000 frames and I'm planning on splitting it in 2 for SVCD, frames 500000 - 900000 work and encode fine but frames 1 - 500000 doesn't work. I tried setting the Direct Show Filter to 1 under VFAPI plug and it encoded but when I burn it to SVCD and play it back on my DVD player its distorted.

Question - Tmpeg Plugins No.33737
Doerky  2003-01-20 08:29:43 ( ID:hp.d7izx/xw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi,

I try to multiplex two saperate .m2v and a .mp2 files to a MPEG-I stream. I was told that I have to install the plugins VFAPI and Toolame, otherwise I always just had a audio but no video signal in the muxed stream. But like sunz (19519) I have the problem, that I don't really know who to install them. Because it is not possible to save the job and open it in VFAPI again by the reason that I use the MPEG-tools for that.

Thanks a lot. Cheers,
Doerky

ASHY  2003-01-20 17:20:39 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You don't need any plugins at all to multiplex an m2v and mp2 stream. Just use the simple multiplexer.
Also you can't multiplex to an MPEG1 stream either. The file you have is MPEG2.

Question - How do I put subs on vcd ? No.33735
Thrillseeker  2003-01-20 07:06:36 ( ID:lilcnhjltvk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Im about to encode an mpeg file to vcd but I would like to put the subs on there too. Is this possible and if so... how?

Minion  2003-01-20 22:27:45 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

To do this you would have to use Virtual Dub and the Subtitle Plugin and frame serve the AVI file and the Subs to Tmpgenc...go to "http://www.virtualdub.org/

Question - Why set a minimum bitrate to anything higher than 0? No.33730
sndtek  2003-01-20 02:09:13 ( ID:rajsqph3.yw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is there an advantage to not using 0 as the minimum bitrate in CQ_VBR? Is this strictly a player issue or are there picture quality (encoding) issues?

Minion  2003-01-20 02:21:20 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Well there are a Bunch of reasons why you should not set the Minimun Bitrate to "0"...One reason is if the Bitrate goes to low your Player won"t be able to read it, and another reason you don"t want it to low is if the Bitrate all of a sudden Jumps from say 200kbs to say 1500kbs or 2000kbs your DVD Player won"t be able to spin the Disk fast enough to go from a Really slow speed at reading at 200kbs to a Fast speed at 1500kbs so the Image will look like slow motion for a couple seconds and the audio can go out of sync for a few seconds till the disk speeds up to the speed were it can read the data at the proper speed, and having to much space between the Minimum and Max bitrate will cause bitrate spikes that will cause an effect the same as I just described...

sndtek  2003-01-20 02:58:56 ( ID:rajsqph3.yw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks. I did not know that DVD players were variable speed.

ASHY  2003-01-20 17:27:19 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

If you set the bitrate to low and depending on the quality setting then the bitrate chosen by the encoder may not be enough for the data contained in the image.
This will lead to a blocky image. Setting it to a minimum such as 1800kb/s ensures that the minimum bitrate always yields a block free picture when the image detail drops below a certain threshhold.

That is the same message I am getting trying to encode some MPEGS as well. I am able to do this on one of my two machines. The other works flawlessly.

Minion  2003-01-20 02:10:31 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

For AVI Files you should go to "Options" to "enviromental settings" to "Vfapi Plugins" and Raise the "Direct Show" to "2"...
