Question - can't open m2v No.32555
danilkadan  2002-12-30 03:10:21 ( ID:exlp4k0jwoh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

HI,

i'm trying to convert .m2v (video & sound) files to .mpeg files fixing aspectratio. it says that this software is able to do that, but when i try opening .m2v file it says can't open.

what can you suggest?

Que2  2002-12-30 17:08:27 ( ID:vcukkbaymso )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

If you are trying to do this. Try an earlier version such as 2.54 or any version before they restricted the decoders that can be used and made some other changes that cause some files that should be supported and that did work in 2.54 to not to work anymore. It also seemed that 2.54 and earlier versions actually checked the format of the file, not just the extension, before saying that it could not do anything with it. In working with all the decoders on your system it was a unique tool that had not blocks nor restrictions. If something didn't work ok it just doesn't work but sometimes you were able to do some surprising things such as asf -> mpeg2.

But I guess they gave into the pressure. But they should have at least given an unsupported option to enable promisciuos decoder mode!!!
The reason for this is they received to many support requests and etc.

I am purchased the Plus version and things went downhill big time since 2.5.4.
I almost wish that I had saved my money but I dream of the good ole days and hope they will bring it back and not just turn this into another piece of crap like DVDit (programmed to crash by people that do not know how to program correctly).
This is a tool. Just like a hammer you can use it for many purposes but they trust you not to wack someone in the head with it or hit your finger.

I just don't think that they trust the Plus or non plus users of the tool to be smart enough to realise they will have problems with some decoders. They could have just listed their supported decoders on paper as supported they did not have to cripple their software. If they want to coddle users release TMPGEnc Wizard mode only or something. I just think it was a stupid overhanded shortsighted descision.

Actually it was the 2.57 version were they changed the Mpeg2 decoder, and as of that version Tmpgenc Supports Even More Mpeg2 decoders, Tmpgenc Still supports the Old "M2V.vfp" Decoder...and You can encode Many Different Formats Like ASF and WMV and ASX with Tmpgenc as you could will every other version, Most causes for Tmpgenc not working correctly on some systems is Because of the Configuration of the system and not Tmpgenc even though Tmpgenc can be a little Touchy at times....anyways To your Question, if you Have M2V file then you have a Mpeg file Cuz M2V is Mpeg but if you have to encode it anyways the Best way is to load the M2V file into DVD2AVI and Make a D2V project File and then encode that with tmpgenc, DVD2AVI decodes Much faster and Better than Tmpgenc"s decoders....

See my other message for the details.

As far as DVD2AVI being better I do not know.

You could do this with 2.5.4 without it giving you that error.

I know that for a fact.

You seem to have missed the point entirely.
TMPG changed the way it handled decoders as of v2.57 not before.
The reason for this and a good reason too is to make TMPG more stable when working with third party codecs.
Some codecs are unpredictable in use and some are just downright crap, not all MPEG2 codecs are the same.

TMPG still works with MPEG2 codecs for decoding, the ones in question being Sony, Cyberlink and Ligos. That's a choice of three which have been fully tested with TMPG and are supported to work.

In the earlier versions of TMPG I used a version of the Ligos codecs which are now incompatible with the new versions of TMPG, so I now use the Cyberlink codec which can be downloaded from most codec sites.

As for DVD2AVI, lets just say there is no better MPEG2 decoder available. If you want best quality fast decoding then DVD2AVI is the best bet.

To answer this original question. There is no need to re-encode the file to change the aspect ratio. The aspect ratio is simply a flag which can be changed quite easily with certain software.

Question - Elecard File .m2t edit ? No.32553
DMTV  2002-12-29 23:51:37 ( ID:rsixdtje5am )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I use Elecard software to capture Audio & Video, it creates a .M2T file

I use TMPGEnc to encode the file to a .MPG for SVCD use.

I then use TMPGEnc, MPEG Tools, Merge & Cut to Edit the file.

The Question I have is WHY Can't I EDIT the .M2T file ??
I get an error message: "is not mpeg file"

Thanks for the Help,
Dishman TV

ASHY  2002-12-30 17:39:56 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

An M2T file is a MPEG2 Transport stream which TMPG does not handle.
TMPG only handles program and system streams.
You may convert the Transport stream to an MPEG2 program stream with MPEG2VCR.

Question - Freezes while encoding using Source Range No.32551
LoGruvz  2002-12-29 23:46:31 ( ID:4mfsyjrepia )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have been using TMPG to encode AVI to MPG then burn VCD or SVCD on Nero. Everything has worked fine. Recently now TMPG freezes (stops responding according to Task Manager) while I am encoding. It hangs usually around 70 - 90% done. It only seems to happen when I use Source Range to split it into 2 SVCD's. The only thing I have done different is I loaded Godian's Knot (GKnot)and deinstalled it. I dont know if this screwed up TMPG. I uninstalled TMPG and reloaded it and still have the same issue.

Please help.

Thanx

LoGruvz

Well you can allways Use Virtual Dub to Cut the AVI file in Half and encode it in Parts..Or encode the whole file and Cut it later with the "Mpeg Tools" that is if you can get them to work....

Well Probably because the File is Not a Mpeg file like the Error says, it is a M2t file whatever that is..If the M2T file is some sort of Mpeg file why do you need to encode it to mpeg Cuz it is allready Mpeg, Just capture to SVCD Resolution and Burn it to disk as a SVCD,You might have to add a SVCD Header, if you can"t capture to SVCD Resolution and have to encode it to Mpeg/SVCD then Why are you loading the File into the Mpeg editor??? I thought you were encodeing the file?? Tmpgenc"s Mpeg editor only officialy supports Files that have been encoded By Tmpgenc..You can try renameing the File from M2T to Mpg and load it into the Editor But I suspect that the File is Not totally Mpeg compliant or not really a Mpeg file and that is why you can"t edit it...

DMTV  2002-12-30 16:10:58 ( ID:rsixdtje5am )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks for the reply,

When I capture the file, i cannot change the resolution,
so I use TMPGEN to encode it to SVCD Standards.
( Which works GREAT )

What I want to do is Edit out the Commericals before
I encode it to SVCD ( since this process take time )

I tried changing the extention to .MPG and now
it says "Illegal MPEG File".

Question - Can you encode Xivd files with TMPGEnc No.32544

What about XivD Files..How to encode with TMPGenc.

Is this possible with TMPGenc or not.
Do you have codec for it !.

Minion  2002-12-30 02:53:22 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Question - Read Error No.32542
Newbie-CC  2002-12-29 18:36:05 ( ID:4bbk5n9bato )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Everytime I start TMPGenc to covert AVI files to MPEG, I will get an error message - "at address 0230DB4A, read error occured against address 0230DB4A" irregardless of which AVI files I use as the source.

Moreover, if I proceed with the encoding, the encoding will terminate at some point (point varies even when encoding the same file repeatedly) before the end of source file. The error message is the same as above, though the address may or may not be the same as above.

Thus my encoding is always a shot in the dark - hoping the application will not abort before the encoding is finished. My success rate is 10% so far.

I suspect it is a system issue, but I'm at a loss on how to eliminate this problem. Kindly advise. Thank you.

Try Frameserveing or Try a Different Mpeg encoder, There are others that will do the Job Just as good....

Question - Dr No.32539
MarcBosquet  2002-12-29 12:59:22 ( ID:lilcnhjltvk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Using the TMPGEnc Plus 2.59 in order to convert a AVI file to MPEG 1. I did convert the audio file first to a wave file. TMP project wizrad runs as it should but when starting the process of encoding an AVI file and the Wav file to a MPRG file i get the message "Write error occured at adress 77752109 of module 'stdll.dl ' with 000000

I went through the FAQ site but could not find an answer to the question.
I still have 22 GB left on the HDD so there must be sufficient place fot the temp folder.

Thanks

Marc Bosquet

I don"t know the Exact reason for this error But in Many Cases this error pops up when encodeing Downloaded movies which are usually corrupted in some way..Corrupted movies will usually play fine But encodeing them is Difficult, You might try Frameserveing the File to Tmpgenc with Virtual Dub...

Question - What is this? No.32538
Mpeg Obsession  2002-12-29 12:50:37 ( ID:tmdsptwfkem )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

In the Link page of the site they say:

"It is the development origin of the MPEG decoder of loading in TMPGEnc DVD Authoring Engine (the beta version)."

Anyone has any idea what this means?

Question - cant open dv2 files No.32536
ash  2002-12-29 10:38:26 ( ID:5d11mhsrkxr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

i am having trouble opening dv2 files that i have made with dvd2avi
i heard that you have to download vfapi. i am running tmpgenc 2.59 where can i download vfapi from.
i checked the tmpgenc page but its not there
i look forward to hearing from someone that can help thankyou

lupy  2002-12-29 12:31:30 ( ID:o10nietw26a )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

options/environmental settings/VFAPI plug ins.Is DVD2AVI project file reader in the list? If so is it checked? what priority is it? try setting a higher priority for it by right clicking it.The DVD2AVI.vfp file that u r asking about is what tmpgenc uses and should be listed in the list. The actual file is in your folder where your dvd2avi.exe is. Most file readers are built into tmpgenc but others can be added such as quicktime mov file reader, dvd2avi project file reader, etc...

Question - no sound after splitting 800+ movie No.32532
sueli  2002-12-29 08:40:47 ( ID:x3/fon87r6f )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

hi,

I used TMPG to split a 810MB mpeg, the 2 halfs begin OK, but somewhere in the middle the audio just disappears. the original is fine with audio to the end etc.,

it can't be the setting as there's audio at the beginning, wierd, how come it just disappears later??

appreciate any help:)

lupy  2002-12-29 09:49:44 ( ID:o10nietw26a )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

heard that tmpgenc does this sometimes...but others will know more about that than me. Perhaps u can cut the audio ...which should be mp2...with a mp2 cutting program. If u can match the cuts in the audio and video then u can muliplex them together again.Use mp3trim to cut the mp2 after u demux it from the mpg using mpg tools in tmpgenc..then cut the video and try remuxing them together.....good luck lol. http://www.logiccell.com/~mp3trim/

sueli  2002-12-29 10:15:02 ( ID:x3/fon87r6f )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

LOL

thanxs, lupy, if that's the case then i'll lip-read ;)
real shame about the audio, thought i could finally burn on CDs ;(

Minion  2002-12-30 02:45:14 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Well if you cant get Tmpgenc to cut it properly then use something else to Cut the Mpeg file, I sometimes use BBMpeg "s Muxer to Cut the File while Multiplexing, you can set the Size of the File that you want and it will cut the file into pieces that big while Muxing..
