Question - Convert and burning with Nero. No.30400
Robin  2002-11-08 07:44:52 ( ID:d.z2bgmtbrk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi. I´ve tried to convert divx and Avi, which I am now able to do, after reading earlier notes here. But there is a slight problem when I try to burn with Nero, as SVCD, Nero tells me that its not SVCD-format and Nero has to encode it. ??? To be able to convert I changed envirolmental setting, VFAPI-plugin and direct show to 1 or 2. So everything seems to be working fine.....exept the burning. What am I doing wrong ?????

Minion  2002-11-08 21:30:38 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

There are a Few criteria for SVCD compliance..The resolution has to be 480+480, the Bitrate has to be 2520KBS or less, the audio has to be Mpeg layer 2 at 44100hz and between 128-224KBS, and the file has to be encoded as a SVCD not a Mpeg2, meaning there has to be a SVCD header on the file..Any of these things are off then nero will say it isn"t compliant. The older versions of nero would tell you exactly why it is compliant But not any more...If you used the standard SVCD Template then you shouldn"t have a Problem with Compliance...If you happened to edit the file before burning then you might have used the wrong setting in the "Merge & Cut", you have to use the "SVCD" Setting not the Mpeg2 setting.....I hope this helps...If it still gives you an error and you think you did everything right then just burn it anyways and see if it plays, or try burning it on a CD-RW so you don"t waste the disk if it doesn"t work....

I have a 1.4 GHz AMD Athlon Processor with 640MB of RAM and a 32MB video card running on Window XP Pro. I have tried every mpeg encoder I can find and every time I attempt to convert an .avi file to an .mpg file my computer crashes about 5 min. into the conversion. Does anyone have any clue what this could be?

Minion  2002-11-08 21:23:10 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Have tried to do a Total Re-install of your OS??? This will fix it if it is a Software problem which it probably is...

Question - 24 minute file takes up whole CD??? No.30392
Bobsolo  2002-11-07 22:33:42 ( ID:t4mpyzzbaql )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

While trying to convert Chobits - 04, tmpgenc stated that the file would take up a whole VCD, and when i tried to convert it, errors popped up every 5 seconds. Is this a problem with my file, or an incompatability?

Minion  2002-11-08 01:15:17 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

This is most likely a problem with the file...It is common with Downloaded files...Don"t trust what Tmpgenc says about file size ..Use a Bitrate Calculator to determine file size ...

Bobsolo10  2002-11-08 22:18:10 ( ID:t4mpyzzbaql )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

So I cant run this file thru TMPG then?

Minion  2002-11-08 23:31:49 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You Might be able to ...Try Frameserveing it with Virtual Dub, this could work...

Question - Extreme large Files croped at end No.30390
Atomic1  2002-11-07 19:42:12 ( ID:.8a9ycwncar )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi
I have ripped a DVD to create a SVCD Backup of it.
I ripped the Video and two Audio streams and demuxed them to single files.
The duration of the Videostream is 114 min. and the resulting File ist 3.99GB (4.194.304 kb) large.
If i encode the file to MPEG-2 VBR the movie is chopped at the end.
So the last 10 min. of the movie missing.

Is there a limitation in source file size ?

Another probleme is that it takes very long to open the source file.
It seems that TMPGEnc scans the whole file. Is it possible to accelerate this ?

Thx Atomic

Minion  2002-11-07 21:33:01 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You are haveing problems Because you aren"t doing it properly..You never load the VOB/M2V files ripped from the DVD Directly into Tmpgenc...The proper way involves Ripping the VOB files to your Drive then use "DVD2AVI" to make a D2V project File and Wav audio files, then you load the D2V file in for Video and the wav file in for Audio then encode to SVCD but you don"t load the vob"s into Tmpgenc Cuz it will Just Cause Problems and the Encodeing Can take Much Much Much longer that way...There are tutorials on the proper way to make SVCD"s for DVD"s at "http://www.vcdhelp.com/

How can i convert the rm-videos from the Real-Player to the mpg-format?
if i want to load the file with tmpeg it says: "fle can not open or unsopported"

Minion  2002-11-07 21:27:28 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You Can"t...Not with Tmpgenc anyway or pretty much any program...You would need to convert the RM file to AVI first with something like "Tinra" or "EO-Video".......

Hello I am using miniDV from Sony TRV900. I am using TMPGEncPlus. In the Video source window, what does the 4:3 525line (NTSC, 704 x 480)
setting apply to? (as opposed to just the 525 line)
Does the Video Arrange Method setting have anything to do with the amount of TV overscan (title safe, videosafe area) ?
Are there any good tutorials online?(especially the Reverse Telecine tab) Thanks!

i did what u told me to do
about the error message when i try to open an- avi file
i changed the "Direct Show Multimedia File Reader" to- 2
but it still a'int working
(and thanks for the clear explanation)
could it be a problem with the program, like i need to re-install it?
or maybe it's the file problem?

Minion  2002-11-07 09:05:06 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Well then it is mostly a Configureation problem or a File problem..Try loading the file into "Virtual Dub" and frame serve the file to Tmpgenc....

brudy  2002-11-07 23:12:17 ( ID:4d4uj.l20kw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Question - unsopported source files No.30377
ansen  2002-11-06 23:18:12 ( ID:qukd5gjgyfl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I can't select any avi files into my "source file"
it tells me that it can't open the file or that the avi is unsupported.
Isn't it the sense of this programm to encode avi's into mpeg?
what do I have to switch or adjust to make it work?

s Ïke

Minion  2002-11-07 01:43:20 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Go to "Options" to "Enviromental Settings" to "Vfapi Plugins" and raise the "Direct Show" to "2"...

Question - ReadAVS is necessary, right? No.30373
Videod00d  2002-11-06 18:22:10 ( ID:0jnhaaa4ig2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

OK I have the paid version of the latest TMPGEnc.. And could never open a .avs script file in TMPGEnc. Yes, the Avisynth is installed correctly, and I can open the .avs files in both VirtualDub as well as media player, etc. But in TMPGEnc the old 'unsupported' msg came up.

Then I saw on a guide over at VCDHelp where they said the file readavs.dll had to be installed for TMPGEnc to load these files. I did install it as they stated, and now TMPGEnc can open the .avs files.

My question: I thought I read that TMPGEnc was able to open .avs files by default, right out of the box (so to speak). So am I correct in installing the Readavs files to TMPGEnc? Or was there something else wrong with my install and installing this was just some poor hack job.

Thanks.

Minion  2002-11-06 22:04:28 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Nope you need the ReadAVS installed.....

Videod00d  2002-11-07 04:19:00 ( ID:0jnhaaa4ig2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Great, thanks.. AVS support is loading good now then.

ASHY  2002-11-10 23:38:19 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The read Readavs.dll doesn't have to be installed for TMPG to open AVS files. It should be able to open these files without it using Directshow or VFW.

I'm currently using AVS files on my system without the Readavs.dll and have no problem opening these files.

Try raising the priority of the directshow or VFW filters and make sure you have installed the latest version of AVIsynth.
