Question - Problem cutting MPG's created by TMPGENC v2.53 No.17489
rzkwong  2002-03-29 12:12:15 ( ID:8aadzeh8w6r )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have used tmpgenc v2.02 on my XP system fine to date. Recently I upgrade to 2.53 and found that for all MPGs created by this new version that I can't get the 'cut' function to cut the movie where I want it. I go to MPEG Tools and select Merge and Cut. I go into the Edit section and say select it to cut the first section from the start to the 1h 15s section. When I hit run, it only reads 5m 30s before dumping the first file? So why isn't it reading the entire 1h 15m?? I have never had this problem in previous versions as well? I even tried cutting the MPG file using the tool from v2.02, but it did the same thing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

me too on a win98 pc !! - i can create only an approximately 500 mbyte file and then it stops .
i'am wondering if there is something connected to virtual memory of windows : mine is set to automatic . On my system there is not much space on c: disk and i suppose windows is able to use only c: if is set to automatic and don' t go on other device to find space.

I would try on a win2000 pc with a lot of free space
bye marco

I have this problem to on all versions accept the new "plus" version, try downloading that version,or use the "source range" feature,it works the best for me ,you can choose exactly were you want the movie split,if you download the new "plus" version, give me an e-mail and I will show you a "special feature" I found in this version.....

Uninstall all DIVX codecs and reinstall DIVX 3.11 then DIVX 5.0. both must be installed. If that doesn't cure it click your VFAPI PLUG-IN tab under Enviromental settings and make the DIRECTSHOW MULTIMEDIA FILE READER the highest priority, usually 2.

techno  Home )  2002-03-29 11:41:56 ( ID:gye7n0apz7c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

no probs.

Maybe ur power pak could be faulty cause it may produce alot of current therefore frying some components which can cause this error.

U tried updating the motherboard driver?

Disable the UDMA mode from the BIOS and try again

Try using other software if possible

If still no luck, then try the same process on a different machine, as a test, to see if u r doing things correctly. If so, your system is faulty and faults may be from the batch.

Make sure your ASPI layer is up to date.
Disable DMA for your hardrive.
If all else fails try adding these 2 lines to your SYSTEM.ini file:

[386enh]

VirtualHDirq=off

This is the highest level of compatibility available with Windows.

If non of the above works. Post your specs and lets have a look at your system.

techno  Home )  2002-03-29 14:13:38 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

U should disable UDMA mode, not DMA ash. Beleive me, I know from experience cause I work for a company with high qualifications

Techno I'm sure somebody else mentioned on this board about not undermining other peoples advice that they give.
I did not udermine YOUR advice. I merely added to it.
The advice I am giving is in addition to yours and is meant to help by turning off certain windows features to increase the compatiblity with the program.
It may work it may not, but it's worth a try.
YOU are not the only person on this board with some technical knowledge,so just cool it, ok.

Techno  Home )  2002-03-29 20:05:57 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

No, u cool it!!!!!! I hate it when people like you under estimate me so just watch it. These are suppose to be helpful boards, not to start trouble

sherlock  2002-03-30 11:09:46 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

thanx TECHNO,I fixed it,I made my dvd-rom the master and the burner the slave,I turned of the "dma" on the dvd-rom and got rid most of my start up programs, and now my computer is fine, you guy"s rule !!!!!...thanx sherlock

Ashy  2002-03-30 15:12:20 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Techno stop blubbering and grow up boy.
Your right, these boards are supposed to be helpful and not for trouble, but you seem to cause plenty. I don't under estimate anybody, but don't over estimate yourself either.
From what I've read on this board you seem to put yourself above everbody else and sham everbody elses advice if it conflicts with yours. This is no way to behave Techno. I know you probably sit at your PC all day with nothing else to do but post comments on this board, but that doesn't make you king on here.
Give a little respect to others on this board and you will find you will have it returned. Remember intelligence doesn't gain respect, but sincerity will.

Question - Quicktime mov files over 2gb cannot get into TMPG No.17475
Noah Kadner  2002-03-29 06:46:31 ( ID:ird3okhrtjm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I've got Quicktime DV files I can't get to encode- they are usually 9 to 15gb. When I use the Quicktime VFAPI plugin I can load these files but then the image quality is very bad-almost as if TMPG is encoding the proxy version of the file and not seeing the DV codec.

If I don't use the Quicktime loader- the files will either not open in TMPG or they will open and encode but the encoding stops at the 2gb point of the source file. I realize this is a file system limitation.

Is there any way to qet around this without breaking the Quicktime into 2gb chunks or recompressing into AVI? Perhaps a program that breaks it up and sends to TMPG automatically?

thanks,
Noah

Question - Error No.17470
JaDW  2002-03-29 06:29:30 ( ID:g4ctzsbteqh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I get this error:

"floating decimal calculation error" with a avi I'm processing for a VCD, I already played with all the settings from "quantize matrix" and the error keeps popping up at 37% of my file is there anything else I should try? my avoi is perfect, I've seen it many times.

Thank you for your help.

techno  Home )  2002-03-29 07:50:41 ( ID:82zqdopxre6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

check/uncheck all the boxes in the quantize matrix settings

Techno

Ashy  2002-03-29 19:40:02 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Try disabling the SSE and SSE2 enhancements under the CPU tab in enviromental setings within TMPG then untick 'Use floating point DCT' in Quantize matrix.

Mathew Frost  2002-03-30 20:45:20 ( ID:0kpd6q4vihw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I had this exact problem before, here's how I fixed it:

Under Environmental Settings for your VFAPI plug in, make sure none of the priorities are in the negatives, all of them should be around 0.

There are specific variations for each media codec and machines, based on problems encountered, you may have to experiment a little. But first set all of the priorities to 0 or better.

JaDW  2002-04-11 02:24:39 ( ID:g4ctzsbteqh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

OK, tried playing with the quantize matrix settings, no good.

I don't even have the SSE/SSE2 options available and 'Use floating point DCT' wasn't ticked :(

I'm now playing with the options Mathew recommends, so far I tried with all priporities set to '0' and it encoded the video... kinda, now instead of stopping at the same spot I just lose the image, audio is ok, but that's kinda obvious since I'm taking the audio from a wav file.

I'll let you know if this worked, thanx for the help you guys.

Question - AVI problem with a new machine No.17466
CHEROKEE  2002-03-29 06:14:34 ( ID:nu/bk2d9cwg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I would appreciate anyone's help with this matter. I have an intel 1 gig processor w/a half a gig memory. tmpgenc works just fine on. I recently bought an intel 1.8 gig w/a full gig of memory and now I get an error saying that an avi that the 1 gig can encode gives me a message that "can not open or unsupported" on the 1.8 gig system. It's a new system and I'm sure I just need to load some program or codec but can't figure out what it needs to read avi's again.

Thanks in advance,
CHEROKEE

increase the avi vfw compatability header in the environment settings

Techno

Ashy  2002-03-29 12:00:52 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Make sure you have the original codecs installed which you used to encode the AVI file.
If it's DivX install 3.11 and 5.0 together.

CHEROKEE  2002-03-29 16:48:55 ( ID:nu/bk2d9cwg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks for all your help but I finally figured it out. I needed to install Mpeg4 Mp43 Codec Divx to get tmpgenc to read them.
catcha later

Question - fuzzy subtitles No.17465
newbie  2002-03-29 03:37:29 ( ID:emu.cjptsoh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I started with a downloaded anime (avi 640x360 29.970 f/s) with crystal clear subtitles. I encoded to NTSC VCD format with

Motion Search: highest
Source type: Non-interlace progressive
Source AR: 16x9 525 NTSC
Full Screen (Keep AR)

The subtitles are fuzzy. Is there something I can do?
One of the noise settings perhaps?

Thanks,
tc

Question - i still can't get it to work No.17460
walidcederbond  2002-03-28 19:12:56 ( ID:byfgb8hg5fn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

i went to that link you gave me earlier and checked my dvd, it said that my dvd supports vcd and cd-R, so what's the problem. am i doing something wrong with converting from mpeg to vcd? by the way what is the converted file's extention, is it still mpeg or something else? because when i'm done converting, the new file is still mpeg but smaller size, is that how it's supposed to be?

Ashy  2002-03-29 19:46:45 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Are you actually burning the mpeg file as a Video cd or are just burning 'as is' to a cdr.
You need to use software such as NERO to burn the MPEG file as a valid Video cd using the Video cd option or you player won't recognize the file.

Question - i can't get the software to work No.17458
