Question - VCD->DVD output has no sound with 1.6 ? No.49420
Joe Wong  2005-05-23 21:38:05 ( ID:iwg/5jxzcdl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

hi there
i downloaded a trial version of 1.6 and trying to convert some VCD (.DAT) files to a single dvd. DVDAuthor1.6 able to conver the video fine, but has no sounds.

I checked that the .dat file and are all 44k, so i checked the "reencode audio" option to convert everything into 48k (and tried both monolingual or bilingual)... but still no sound

so... do i have to use yet another problem to pre-convert the file into something else, then import them to DVDAuthor and convert them to dvd format ?
thx in advance

Question - How to add different format MPG files No.49418
calibra  2005-05-16 19:48:51 ( ID:fkpgr6vhlg6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Trying to add different format MPG files to TMPGENC DVD author eg 16.9 and 4.3

IS there any way of doing this ?

Many other programs allow this

Thanks

B_Racer  2005-05-18 11:23:59 ( ID:0jd4rmr3tyn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

That's VERY simple... Read the manual!
Each file has to be imported as an single track.
You can't combine different formats into one track.

Question - Problem with VOB on tmpg dvd author No.49415
cA786  2005-05-12 12:18:46 ( ID:tz2oh9shi7n )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When i enter a certain vob into TDA , a message appears , its sais
This Is A illegal video file.
For A Standard DVD You Can Only Use

MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 Video.

I really need help on how to fix this problem, can anyone help me out?

Thanks.

creon  2005-06-25 22:32:23 ( ID:dynom/mupjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

there is an import function for vob files. use that instead of drag and drop the video file... ;)

Steven  2005-07-01 11:46:25 ( ID:kxnlkluwigr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

This also happens with mpeg2 files so that wouldnt help me at any rate
(even correctly formated DVD standard files sometimes - it seems random)

I cant see any "import" command for VOB files either where is that?

I have Tmpgenc DVD author and wish to add MPG files of different standards to the same compilation i.e. 16.9 format and 4.3 format

Presently I get an error message.....Many other programs allow this, but I find Tmpgenc dvd author the easiest to use.

Does anyone know how I can get this to work

Thanks

Using TMPGenc 1.6 to convert vcd .dat file to DVD , the "Divide by Zero" error message comes up after some minutes and the conversion stops. Can you explain what can be the problem?
Thanks.

I got this problem some time when I grouped VCD files into one DVD. Can anyone tell me how to solve it?

Question - Audio Video Sync Problem. No.49408
amir77a  2005-04-21 09:26:58 ( ID:/gjzsiooet. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have an avi file (which plays flawlessly), with ac3 (5.1 CH audio). I seperate it (using Virtual Dub) and produce m2v file with the video only using tmpgenc.

I finally wish to make a DVD out of it.

The result is always deley in the vidoe of about 7-8 seconds.

How can this be corrected?

B_Racer  2005-04-22 11:11:10 ( ID:0jd4rmr3tyn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is it a continous async (delay) or is it becoming bigger and bigger while playing?

Magicman  2005-10-25 23:03:39 ( ID:vr16f0/jioo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have this problem. Mine the delay gets worse as the video goes along. I separate the video from the audio and save the audio as a wav file using virtualdubmod. It doesn't happen on all videos but is the same on repeated attempts at the video. When watching the DVD you'd hear little hickups in the audio and they accumulate over time to make the delay worse and worse each time.

Question - DVD Author Background Image Question No.49404

DVD Author Background Image Question

Hi,

I have a custom background image that I use when authoring DVDs with DVD Author -- when I play the DVD on my computer using WinDVD, my background image is displayed in full correctly, however when I play the same DVD on my standalone DVD player the very top and very bottom of the image is missing / cropped on my TV. This makes the image look stupid, although there's only a bit missing that bit is essential to the design.

My TV is a 'full screen' (not Widescreen) TV and it is PAL. When I first made the background image I used 720x480 for its size. After the first time I saw the missing top and bottom bit I realized these are the NTSC screen dimensions and so remade the image using the PAL dimensions of 720x576. This made no difference, it still looks fine on my PC using WinDVD but with the same problem on my TV.

Any ideas how to resolve this?

Thanks,

MS

B_Racer  2005-04-20 17:24:06 ( ID:0jd4rmr3tyn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Yes, RTFM!

TDA is able to show you the Safe Area. Use this function to check what's inside and what's outside the screen of the TV.

user name  2005-06-17 16:16:47 ( ID:kxnlkluwigr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

actually PAL is 768 wide not 720

you can prove this to yourself if you have a bauppauge video card and know
how to edit the registry for custom size image captures

do some at 720 and you will see them distorted
do them at 768 and they will be correct

digital TV/software is rubbish

vidman  2005-07-12 12:37:25 ( ID:mpwpv837utc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

If these people dont what 768 is all about.. use photoshop and increase canvas size by 10% the picture will now have a boarder around it and keep the image in the safe area,, easy..

I keep creating themes with specific chapter names like "Baby Pix" and "Hora". I want these chapter names to appear every time I use that theme, but each time the chapter names are reset to "Chapter 1", "Chapter 2", etc. How can I make my own chapter names come up each time?

Question - Tmpgenc DVD Author 1.6 Batch Processing? No.49401
hiwass  2005-04-16 19:36:55 ( ID:n3iwhtq6ne6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is it possible to have batch processing in TDA 1.6? i.e., i want to author a dvd, then once the first dvd is done it continues to author the second and so on. Right now, if i want to author two dvd's i have to open two instances of TDA and let them run at the same time. thanks

Joe Hecht  2005-04-26 17:59:45 ( ID:6ufgl7tnqqr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Batch processing would be nice.

I suggested it to the "support" along with

1)adding a CPU priorty setting.

2) Drag And Drop multiple files onto track menu would cause multiple tracks to be automatically created.

3) A setting that would use the filename (minus extension) to name the tracks.

4) A setting that would use the track name as the output folder name if there was no menu created.

Of course "Support" seemed to think that batch processing and CPU priorty "would slow things down so it would be unsafe"... They seem to
believe that everyone uses thier DVD writing module, even when you explain
that you use Nero.

"Support" is run by a bunch of know nothings...

Question - opening video ts folder error in dvd author No.49400

I have converted an avi file to dvd using VSO divx2dvd.When the resulting Video_Ts folder is opened( or tried to open) in Tmpgenc Authot is shows which only can be described as a small box with a cross in it and some gobbledygook (n a square with a small s and some unknown characters). Has anyone experienced this and know what the problem might be. NOTE I have also tried to run the same program through Tmpgenc video author v6 with the same results.

Question - Color is lost No.49398
HuszTom  2005-04-05 13:54:02 ( ID:2vykjlpyhxr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello Sir,
my problem is the following: I converted an .avi (608*320, 23fps, XVID) with TMPGEnc to .mpeg (DVD/PAL(4:3)). Then I made the DVD-directory with TMPGEnc DVD Author and burnt on DVD-r. The problem is, that if I play it on my DVDplayer (Nexus or something noname), the picture is black-white. There is a button on the television RGB auto/manual. If i click it to manual, all the white becomes red.. Do you have some ideas?

B_Racer  2005-04-06 15:08:04 ( ID:0jd4rmr3tyn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Maybe your XviD-Codec is set to BW-Output. TMPGEnc may use VfW instead of DirectShow or vice versa.

Question - Can someone suggest a DVD authoring program please No.49388
colin baker  2005-04-02 15:37:32 ( ID:kxnlkluwigr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I've been trying to use this TMPGenc but i'm finding it very buggy and it doesnt have any reasonable support. It cant even burn DVDs on win-98 so I have to use the appaling Nero bloatware just to burn a disk

I need something that can make DVDs of any size and not miss out great big chunks of them without telling me

I need support without having to log in or register or bugger about or wait days for emails everytime I have a simple elementary question

and ideally I'd like a nice interface such as this one has (its only selling point IMHO)

is there anything that comes close (the cost doesnt matter - I NEED these things)

thank you

B_Racer  2005-04-04 13:17:29 ( ID:0jd4rmr3tyn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

TDA isn't buggy. I'm using it by myself - even for semi prof. DVDs
There's only one thing: No burning under Win98, but's that OK to me.

And: If you need support for TDA, you will be lost with any other DVD Authoring Program - they are much more complicated compared to TDA (which is the easiest to use authoring tool).

But OK, you asked for it: The second program i use is DVDLab Pro.

Colin Baker  2005-04-05 02:50:24 ( ID:kxnlkluwigr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It is indeed buggy you only have to look at how many people here have complained about the same bugs - just take a look at how many people have found it misses out great chunks of their DVD's without even raising an error message to say its done it and thats not new - the complaints go back ages and yet are never responded to. And given the low take up of this very obscure BBS thats all the more a cause for concern

then theres the failure to burn at all under Win98
Then theres the fact it generates output thats not compliant to DVD standards
and will usually be rejected by most legitimate burning houses

no it doesnt crash every five minutes but yes it is buggy

And that 9Gb file limit i've seen people complain about must have been programmed in deliberately because it wouldnt arise as a natural limit during
the programs design - obviously theyre planning on forcing everyone to buy
another product when the larger drives start coming out next year - and doing it deliberately

I needed support to help solve the problems not because I'm stupid or
dont know what I'm doing but the impression I get is this company can't be upfront about either its problems or the lack of support so I think they just cant be trusted

B_Racer  2005-04-05 11:20:19 ( ID:0jd4rmr3tyn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

This may sound a bit rude, but in fact: Half of the people here in the BBS aren't able even to press a single button correctly...

I'm producing DVDs, some of them for burning houses, there where never problems. Also my compliance check programs never do show my some errors or problems. So, if your produced DVD isn't compliant, your MPEG-Source wasn't compliant.

The 9 GByte-Limit ... that's a DVD-Limit! Even the professional Tools (Maestro or Scenarist, which are used for the DVDs you can buy) aren't able to produce bigger sized images or title sets. It does not make any sense to produce bigger discs, because a DVD9 only can store 8.7 GByte - that's a fact.

colin baker  2005-04-10 21:34:00 ( ID:ysconmzn55r )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

no its not rude its just ignorant

The program produces output incompatible with DVD standards - thats not a suggestion its a fact DVD authoring houses state if you try to use your output with them. And it has nothing to do with the source mpeg but the output of the program which is non compliant.

its useless for professional work

Some of the time it even says its own output is illegal itself when you try to read it back.

it seems to me some of the people here can ONLY press a single button and know nothing else

Demto  2005-04-15 01:26:37 ( ID:eutjbzmna4n )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

OK then, I have only just got started with making mpegs etc and the last
thing I want is a program which is buggy.

Can anybody suggest an alternative program that is similar to TMPGEnc
but which you consider reliable/better. If I have to pay something for it
then so be it.

Wasted time costs money so it may work out cheaper in the end.

Demto  2005-04-15 23:41:06 ( ID:.5ri276.kao )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Worded my last post wrongly.

What I was trying to say is that I am totally new to making Mpegs and
joining them and burning to a DVD. There is enough to learn already without
a "buggy" program to add to the difficulties.

I downloaded the trial version of TMPGEnc but the trial period will run
out in about 3 weeks. I have also downloaded a number of articles from the
net about TMPEnc which have helped me get started.

I have followed instructions to the letter, and rechecked everything, but
even then not all works out every time. Maybe its me doing things wrongly
but I have checked all instructions thoroughly. Buggs ?????

I will have to decide shortly whether to buy the program or ditch it for
something else. I would appreciate any advice you can give.

My needs are pretty simple I think. I need to

1. make DVDs from .AVI files
2. make DVDs from Mpegs

No frills, I would be happy with basic DVDs.

Can anybody suggest a program that will do about the same as TMPGEnc
but is more reliable/stable in their opinion, or is TMPGEnc about the
best for the price.

Any help would be appreciated.

I dont know what THE DOCTOR" -colin baker is going on about .
Ive been using Tmpgdvd author for 99 % of my work.
No problems
Its great it has great potential , you can do some nice menus if you use your head.
You will still need a compliant mpg (or trick the program to except an out of standard mpg) using dvdpatcher
It doesnt except avis, use tmpgenc xpress or so to convert.
Use pgcedit to change some of the button function and stuff to make your DVD
do more stuff.

Its great for your basic and medium-high level of authoring.

other wise use DVDlabpro next but you have to do everything there ie link all buttons, but it does transistions ,insert firstplay clips etc.

I agree with b-racer half the people trying to use it have no idea about DVD standards. Of course it output to standard otherwise whats the point.
Anyway if it says biterate is not standard author anyway your dvd player should still play it if not your dvd player is not that relaxed on playing authored dvd's

It took me a long time to understand DVD specs etc I looked , read threads and practiced on RW's without sending stupid messages to forums..LEARN..

Missing chunks of video.. check the original encode and the ifo files.
""low take up of this BBS"" thats because people know how to use their programs properly...LEARN... people winge and winge ..It dont go right..must be crap..LEARN...

get xp with service pak2 update ..98 , what do you expect..

CB talks absolute rubbish.
