Bug report - Capacity of DVD 4438MB is incorrect. No.49446
Kojo  2005-09-17 05:34:56 ( ID:wvxx7w020eo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi developers,

I want to let you know the capacity of DVD is not 4438MB. The correct DVD capacity is about 4482MB. DVD Author and the writing tool use wrong capacity. To get around this issue, I have to choose "ignore" and use Nero or another burning tool.

Please fix this issue for DVD Author Pro 2.0 version.

Question - DVD plays off the screen No.49444
HWJ  2005-09-06 03:04:40 ( ID:ugi5w/gv1yk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Alright, I am gonna post this because searching for the answer via google has been tedious because of the vague words I have to use to describe this.

After using Nero to burn the VOB files to DVD, any DVD player I use to play it shows the image larger then the screen.
This not only happens with the video (which is 720X480) but the menu that TMPGEnc creates aswell.

Using Premiere to create the AVIs, Cucusoft to transfer to MPG and finally TMPGEnc to create the DVD.
I am not entirely convinced its just TMPGEnc though, as I tried creating a DVD entirely with Premiere and the same issue occured.

I am however hoping someone here has ran into this issue before.

This problem also happens when using two different DVD players.

Other then creating a massive black border around the entire movie, I am not sure what else can be done to correct it - and it won't help the DVD menu much.

B_Racer  2005-09-22 16:55:55 ( ID:0jd4rmr3tyn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

That's normal. It's called "Overscan" and any TV does have it.
Did you see the Safe Area while creating the Menu using TDA? That's the visible zone of the Video too.

Dear users, please tell us your opinion!

The new version of DVD Author will be released under the new brand
name "TSUNAMI MPEG" (TSUNAMI MPEG DVD AUTHOR PRO).
We are worried that it may have a negative impact on our customers,
due to the TSUNAMI that occurred last year, in Sumatra and the South East Asia.

However TSUNAMI is also the original name of the free software
TMPGEnc (TSUNAMI MPEG ENCODER).
TSUNAMI is a common word in Japan, because we often hear it in our everday life. But, in overseas, this name may directly be related to the
disaster of last year.

So we would like to ask you:

1) what is your opinion about this brand name?

2) and what do you think would be the general opinion, or the opinion of a newbie who
doesn't know the origin name of TMPGEnc?

Thank you for your cooperation.
Pegasys team

I wish you folks would also ask for our opinions on the products and new features we would like to see added.

I have submitted many excellent feature requests to your tech support, only to be told they are not needed. Clearly, they do not listen to the users feedback, and I have stopped submittng ideas.

If I had a clear channel to the programmers, I would be happy to resubmit the ideas. BTW, I know the guy that started the TMpeg products, as I worked at the company that designed the compiler he used at the time (Delphi).

1) TSUNAMI name is good. Keep using the TSUNAMI name, in remembrance of the victims. That would be a positive, in my opinion.

2) When I was newbie, I didn't know origin name of TMPGEnc. I looked name up. For Retail boxes, maybe it better to call it TSUNAMI MPEG ENCODER. Newbies will know "mpeg encoder". But old people that download it, know it as TMPGEnc. I would keep TMPGEnc name for the download version. It is popular name.

As Joe Hecht said in post above, we would like feedback from the developers. We submit bug reports and feature requests, but no one from Pegasys acknowledges requests.

DVD Author needs more features like...
1) Way to make preview screen larger. It is small on 1600x1200 monitor resolution. Should be able to maximize DVD Author window to full screen.
2) Correct the combined maximum bitrate you can use. Currently a warning pops up, that says "The combined bitrate can be no more than 9848kbps." This is wrong. Maximum combined bitrate for all DVD players is 10080kbps.
3) Way to download third party themes for backgrounds,buttons,etc... There are not enough pre-made themes.
4) Hot-Keys for all preview window buttons, including fast-forward, rewind.
5) Motion Menu selection of beginning/end frames, instead of just seconds.
6) Way to set a clip to "First Play" and hide the track menu completely. Can only hide chapters.
7) Built-in subtitle creation and support.
8) Ability to use "transition clips" to add transitions between main menu and track menus.
9) Add support for multiple audio tracks.

DVD Writing Tool needs a buffer, "underrun burn protection", and the ability to verify the burn.

rave  2008-03-10 00:33:52 ( ID:8xe.or5kcwf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The main detractor of your product for me personally is the lack of menu transitions. You would have an encore killer if you added menu transitions.

0. Unlimited audio/video menu motion

1. Menu transitions allow for a truly seamless user interface with the menus and timelines which can add enormously the immersiveness.

A. Add Custom or integrated transitions
B. The ability to fade in and out of transitions...etc
C. Transitions for chapter intervals...

2. The ability to adjust the (repetition) length of a video/audio clip for a menu automatically.

A. Depending on the length of the audio clip chosen.
B. Depending on the length of the video clip chosen.

To integrate a short video with a long audio track, you have to calculate the total video length vs. total audio length to know how many copies of the video are necessary to match. The problem is that we have to add the video "XX" times in TMPGENC Xpress to mix and match the mix properly. I would like to see a "match video to audio" and visa-versa.

Thanks!

Question - Unknown type of error with DVD Author 1.6 No.49434
kramer  2005-08-14 06:19:51 ( ID:virxn5tn93k )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Have converted AVI files to DVD format using Winavi. Tried to open the VIDEO_TS folder with TMPGenc DVD Author 1.6, in order to create a menu, but i get a strange error. A small window with an X in it. This same exact error right here:
http://kanedx.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/pic.jpg

I see no one answering this question. Any answer to this at all?

B_Racer  2005-08-19 09:51:38 ( ID:0jd4rmr3tyn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Did you use the Button "Open DVD Video"?

Jamie  2006-02-09 00:41:26 ( ID:1v7oj97gndc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I also get this message. I'm using the latest version of DVD Author.

rahzel  2006-03-28 12:34:19 ( ID:aanv4pkca2h )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

i get this error too. anyone know why this error pops up? i thought it was the encoder i was using, but TMPGEnc DA usually opens DVD files encoded with the program im using (ConvertXtoDVD and WinAVI).

Question - Custom Frames and Buttons No.49432
Zortag  2005-08-12 20:20:05 ( ID:ojvwqr3fono )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I know the answer to this must be rather simple, yet in several days of trying out the program and reading up as much as I can, I have yet to figure out how to be able to use custom made buttons and frames. I use GIMP to create the images I want to be able to use, but where do I put these image files, so that they can be made available for choices once one gets into "Create New Theme". I've put them into the "..\TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6\Template\User" as well as "..\TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6\Template\Data\Frames" as ".psd" files (even tried renaming thses ".psd" to "".tme" to no avail. But no matter what I do, I can't get the images to show up as choices for frames in the "Create Menu Theme". Any help would be appreciated.

terrypin  2007-10-19 13:20:48 ( ID:1uq2rgitb22 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi Zortag: It's only 2 years (and 2 months) since your post, but I see it had no replies! (Hope that doesn't mean that I won't get an answer to my very first post a few minutes ago.) That too was about customised buttons. If you are by some chance still around, and see this, perhaps you could help please?

Meanwhile, I'm sure you've resolved your own question by now, but if not...
Just place the image file (JPG/BMP/PSD/etc) anywhere and then use Edit menu Theme > Edit to browse to it.

Question - MP3 file from TMPGEnc not reconized by NERO No.49429
Chor  2005-07-10 22:49:53 ( ID:lf8bomhf4rj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have successfully extracted the audio files (in MP3 format) from VCD files using TMPGEnc. The MP3 file plays on my computer without any problems. But when I try to burn the files to a CD using NERO, it complains about invalid format. Any ideas?

B_Racer  2005-07-13 09:49:00 ( ID:0jd4rmr3tyn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Yes, .mp3 isn't the correct format. On DVD/SVCD you need .mp2.

John  2005-12-20 06:44:07 ( ID:z58arhv39gk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It seems to me that B_Racer misunderstood your question. It sounds to me like you're trying to make an audio CD of the soundtrack from a VCD.

You have successfully extracted the audio files (in MP2 format not MP3 format) from VCD files using TMPGEnc. The suffix may say .MP3 but it is actually a .MP2 file that plays on your computer without any problems.

If you want to make a MP3 CD using NERO:

Use dBpowerAMP Music Converter R11.5 and the appropriate plugins for MP2 and MP3 files to convert the .MP2 files to .MP3 files. This should solve your problem.

If you want to make a standard CD using NERO:

Use dBpowerAMP Music Converter R11.5 and the appropriate plugins for MP2 and WAV files to convert the .MP2 files to .WAV files. This should solve your problem.

You can find Use dBpowerAMP Music Converter (and a variety of plug-ins) for free at: http://www.dbpoweramp.com/dmc.htm

dBpowerAMP Music Converter is also an invaluable free application for converting any audio format that you can think of including .MP2 files in VCD and DVD formats.

Question - Transistions or Fading No.49427
RMorenoJr  2005-07-08 17:59:06 ( ID:venndxyj.un )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is there a way to add transistions or fading between clips?

kojo  2005-08-01 01:31:16 ( ID:42mrnraekn2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You have to add these to your original AVI video, using a video editor first. No way to do it in Tmpgenc author.

Is that the bug of TDA? anyone face this before?

Question - PX.dll not found! No.49421
Altu Faltu  2005-06-02 06:50:23 ( ID:tshtjxquud2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Faced this problem while trying to burn first DVD with TDA 1.6

* Re-installing doesn't help.
* Px.dll downloaded from dll-files.com also doesn't work.

Please publish correct PX.dll that works with TDA 1.6

bigjack  2005-09-12 05:51:50 ( ID:tm9mj6uhcon )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I had the same problem. Here is what I did:
Uninstalled DVD Author
Uninstalled Nero Burning Rom (I don't think that really mattered, but did it anyway)
cd c:\windows\system32
del px*.*

I had to delete anything that started with px from the system32 directory under the windows directory.
(actually I created a temp directory to hold em just in case I needed em)
Then re-installed DVD Author.

worked like a charm after that

Question - VCD->DVD output has no sound with 1.6 ? No.49420
Joe Wong  2005-05-23 21:38:05 ( ID:iwg/5jxzcdl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

hi there
i downloaded a trial version of 1.6 and trying to convert some VCD (.DAT) files to a single dvd. DVDAuthor1.6 able to conver the video fine, but has no sounds.

I checked that the .dat file and are all 44k, so i checked the "reencode audio" option to convert everything into 48k (and tried both monolingual or bilingual)... but still no sound

so... do i have to use yet another problem to pre-convert the file into something else, then import them to DVDAuthor and convert them to dvd format ?
thx in advance

Question - How to add different format MPG files No.49418
calibra  2005-05-16 19:48:51 ( ID:fkpgr6vhlg6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Trying to add different format MPG files to TMPGENC DVD author eg 16.9 and 4.3

IS there any way of doing this ?

Many other programs allow this

Thanks

B_Racer  2005-05-18 11:23:59 ( ID:0jd4rmr3tyn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

That's VERY simple... Read the manual!
Each file has to be imported as an single track.
You can't combine different formats into one track.
