TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.5 & 1.6 / TSUNAMI MPEG DVD Author BBS [ Sorted by thread creation date ]
here is my problem, we have just started downloading and burning movies, and anything widescreen comes out as a very thin strip in the middle of the screen... someone has suggested that i can fix that with this software, but i dont even know how to use this software yet... can someone please advise me whether this software will do that? and how? i have spent weeks getting certain movies to download, only to find that i cannot watch them!!
That's just it, widescreen shown in a 4:3 TV is a thin strip of video in the middle of the screen. If you are picky about it being too thin, then TMPGEnc DVD Author is not where you do this.
You do it in TMPGEnc Plus where you have to re-encode your video. Can you please tell me what settings you used?
If you don't want widescreen altogether, then you must make it full screen in TMPGEnc Plus but that would mean cropping the video.
I am having a problem with TDA 1.6. i have a 5GB MPG file and a 700MB AC3 file. it tells me that the file size will be 5.7GB which is correct. the resulting vobs only total 3GB. DOes anybody know how to fix this or why it is happening?
I would like to know if there is a way to get more buttons in this program.
That is the only problem I have personally with it, I have seen people complain about the backgrounds but I have always used my own, but I would really like to make my own buttons
I am having problems with the menu. Highlights and the thumnails are not matching. Highlighted section is always shifted almost half way through. I was able to create two DVDs without any problems. When I try it on the computer it's perfectly fine.
I resolved that problem. For all those chapters I was getting "GOP is too long" message. After I re-encoded with correct GOP settings (using TMPGenc Xpress) and burning it again menu shows correctly now.
Request: The DVD Author program needs a CPU Priory setting (like the encoder has), as it would smooth out multitaking (or at least allow me to choose).
I have been using TDA 1.6, and it seems to work well, with some rough edges.
But, comparing the same project (compliant MPG, split into 4 no-motion chapters, with a one page menu), Ulead MF3 writes the DVD folders to HDD in 5.5 minutes, and TDA 1.6 takes 9.5. In both cases, the source MPG is on drive D: and the target folder is Drive F:, so the comparison is fair.
Both produce a perfect DVD when played back on a standalone or PC player.
Motion Menu is deactivated - and besides, the motion menu portion of the process still only takes 2 minutes on average, even when selected. Ulead is faster than TDA when Ulead is doing motion menus, and TDA is not. Faster by 3-4 minutes even this way.
Does anyone else have a remnant of the last frame of a video recording? For example, when I am cutting commercials out of a 1 hr tv program as I do the last edit of the program selecting the start point as the last frame shown of the program and end point (last frame of video) I get a remnant.
I can delete it from the chapters but the frame is still there. It's just an annoyance. Sometimes if the last section of my recording is shown as a full frame on the filmstrip view DVD Author will delete it about 50 percent of the time. Fixing this bug would be nice. I love TEMPGEnc DVD Author and use if for archiving all my tv programs recorded my tv tuner using XP Media Edition.
I use Arcsoft Showbiz to convert the tuner recordings to mpegs and archive with TGA 1.5.
It's not possible to cut of a single Frame without Re-Encoding the Movie or parts of it.
Watch out for the Tool "Cuttermaran" or "Cutterman". It is able to cut of Frames by re-encoding only the GOP with the frame, not the whole movie.
I have a question regarding cloning copies of tmpgenc DVD author. I have tried copying disks produced using TMPGENC DVD Author 1.5 with commerical copying software like 321 Studios DVDXCopy Platinum which is supposed to copy source video and audio and menus.. The copying works okay but when I put the dvd in the player. There are no menus, or chapters. The videos play fine and all the content is there except for the menu.
Use Nero or any other CD/DVD burning software and just use the copy function. If you have nero the free program DVD Shrink will do a backup of the complete disc and use Nero to burn it.
I have just finished authoring a dvd without a menu - I wanted to start the movie right away and expected the dvd player to display its main screen after the movie finished playing. Instead the movie stopped displaying the last frame of the movie (black) until I switch the player off.
For menu-less DVDs, it plays like this. Once you press play (or if the DVD player auto-starts when the disc is in), the movie starts playing automatically. When it finishes, the disc stops. DVD players never plays the last few frames/seconds of a video. So it's best to add some extra blank frames there.
