Question - Changing 'Play All' to text No.49186
KevM  2004-07-01 15:37:03 ( ID:rau5tums6gn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is it possible to change the 'Play All' button to text so it doesn't look so out of sorts with the other text selections?

Thanks

No, but you can draw your own Button and use it instead of the standard button.

Question - Last Video Segment Not Playing? No.49183
Sakuya  2004-07-01 03:05:29 ( ID:6y4cusar5hr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm having a weird problem. I have set up 4 tracks and a menu. The bar the bottom says it's only 4086MB out of 4438MB. There is still a chunk of white space left in the bar. I have burned it onto a DVD+RW (4.7GB) and all of them plays fine. However, when I burn it onto a DVD-R, the last track cannot load. The other three tracks and menu plays excellent but when I select the last track, it doesn't load. Why is this? I have double-checked in TDA and everything is fine. The M2V plays fine on the computer as well. The brand of DVD-R I'm using is unknown because it's generic, there is no brand name or disc capacity anywhere. Please help! At first I thought it was a corrupt DVD-R but now I have wasted 2 DVD-Rs. :(

Sakuya  2004-07-01 03:07:21 ( ID:6y4cusar5hr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I forgot to add that I used DVD Shrink to open my authored VOBs and I played the last track and it plays fine.

B_Racer  2004-07-02 14:28:34 ( ID:0jd4rmr3tyn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Maybe you are using cheap DVD-R brands. They often have some Errors on the outher Tracks... they often ARE the Problem.

Request - 16:9 Menu No.49181
apachelance  2004-06-30 09:03:53 ( ID:5ur4qxqjw.w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi from Germany,

TDA is a really nice program to realize DVDs in short time. Unfortunatly it lacks a 16:9 menu support. So this would be nice to see in the next release.

Greeting, Michael

Otmar Baumeister  2004-07-08 10:07:50 ( ID:kohjsz31.k. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It doesn'l lack the 16:9 option. You have to modify the header of the mpg File with f.e. DVD_Patcher or something like that.

Question - Tmpgenc DVD author menu: Still back image & music How? No.49178
ivrytwr3  2004-06-29 11:59:32 ( ID:piknkslbd8r )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am authoring a dvd with Tmpgenc dvd author. On my main menu I am trying to have a still background image with music playing in the background.

The FAQ at tmpgenc website states this:

"How to include a still background image and background music?

It is impossible with TMPGEnc DVD Author, a specific source file has to be created.

With TMPGEnc Plus, choose a still image as video source file and a wav sequence as an audio source. Encode in mpeg program stream format with sound in mp2 and use the resulting file as background.
Disable the background option, the first image (still image) remains and the BGM only is played. "

I have created a mpeg program with tmpgenc 2.5 still image and music). However, when i play the dvd the background image is in place but no fookin music!

Any tmpgenc authors out there who can point me in the right direction? (and in laymans terms even a few pics would be nice!!!)

Ta!

apachelance  2004-06-30 09:07:06 ( ID:5ur4qxqjw.w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi,

simply insert the mpeg-file in the background menu. Setting for background motion should be disabled. Just choose the length auf the motion menu depending on the length of your mpeg-file. This works fine for me. It is important that the mpeg-file has only stereo/surround sound, no ac3 output. So you can create an working mpeg file in TMPEGenc by using mp3 or wav input.

Greetings, Michael

dpmp  2004-11-18 21:34:59 ( ID:c0wlr2e/nil )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The menu templates on the TDA is quite mediocre. But I would suggest using TDA to build your DVD image with the chapters the way you like it. Once the files are saved in your hard drive, use Ulead DVD Movie Factory to open it and rebuild the menu then add audio into it. After that, use your favorite burning software to put it on disc.

I don't suggest using DVD Movie Factory to encode your movie. For a homemade movie that is longer than 2 hrs, I think everyone has agreed that TMPGEnc & TDA can do it better.

Question - author No.49176
andy  2004-06-28 04:35:07 ( ID:evuxpqb8m4n )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

is it possible to create menues in author without relying on the (somewhat dodgy) menu templates? if so then I will be a very happy camper, if not i gotta say that i was expecting full functionality from author and tmpgenc and i am extreemly disapointed.
andy.

andy  2004-06-28 07:43:33 ( ID:nonoths0gmo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

also:
"Supports every setting in the TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 software encoder"
so I was expecting to be able to do simple mpeg2 edits and export them as files for use with other programs as well. Is this possible?
Thanks,
Andy.

Question - Output file size incorrect No.49171
DNT  2004-06-20 12:58:16 ( ID:1u692glijul )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Ive been using this program to author some of my dvds, mostly they are composed of 2 files/tracks (each mpeg file being approx 600-700mb) resulting in the total size of the two mpeg files being around 1.3GB.
However, recently Ive been noticing that after converting the mpegs to the dvd format, the VIDEO_TS folder is only around 900mb in size, sometimes less.

This doesnt happen all the time but regularly enough to be annoying as it takes just as much time to produce this as it would a full 1.3gb normal one.
Even TMPGEnc states the capacity of the file its just outputted to be 1393mb.

Has anyone else experienced this problem with TMPGEnc DVD Author?

Newbie  2004-09-06 21:04:29 ( ID:5ck59pzbanh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Same problem here:(.
1 mpg (1gb) = 1 vob (690mb). Why?

Spassvogel  2004-09-15 00:21:47 ( ID:oprmp4qk3pc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

My problem was just the opposite...the project said it was 4.1gig and when I authored the DVD files it was 4.5 and apparently too large to burn to a blank disc. Very frustrating!

Same here, and I noticed that the video quality of the vob files were worse than the original mpegs. This has been killing me for weeks now and if anyone knows why please, I'm beggin' help. Thanks.

Peace,
Joe

The same here, the program changes the bitrate of the original mpeg. Any ideas ?

motion menu shows me the beginning of the chapter.

How can I take the middle of a chapter (for example 15 sec.)for the motion menu?

If you click on each thumbnail image in the motion menu, you can select the beginning of the video clip to be shown in the thumbnail.

IÃ×e downloaded the TMGenc DVD Author trial to test and have a few questions and comments:

I added 3 clips capture with Pinnacle Movie Box USB in the format PAL 720x576, 4:3, 2100 VBR, MPEG 1 L2 Audio 48khz, 192 kbps.
TMGenc DVD Author says that the clips wont fit on a disc I use 4.6 GB. The same clips added to ULEAD Movie Factory will fit onto the disc, it says 4.3 GB without any re-rendering. Why is there a difference?

IÃ×e then set start and stop positions in order to get a size that fits onto the discs. The tool permits to set chapter marks outside the start/end positions.

The DVD writing tool says that the size on the disc will be 2.6 GB, after burning aprox. 5mm of the disc will be unused.

The DVD writing tool says that the progress is 90% after 602000 sectors of 1234402 sectors, that seems wrong too.

The first clip (source file) has a small clutch in the middle of the movie, that can be seen when playing in the computer using a DVD player software such as Windows Media player. The sound after that is however ok, i.e. in sync with the picture.
Playing the burned DVD from TMGenc DVD Author, on a standalone player will show the the same picture error but the sound will from then on be out of sync by several seconds.

IÃ×e added automatic chapters every 5 minutes on all 3 clips. This work fine in the TMGenc DVD Author tool. On the burned disc however the result is ok for the first clip, for the second it stops after 8 chapters and returns back to the main menu.

Finally compared with other products the price seems terrible high. There is no capture, no re-rendering possibilities, you have to pay extra for ac-3 encoder, etc. keep the price but ship it with TMPGenc Plus and the mpeg2 and AC-3 encoder then you might be competitive.

Even so it looks very nice and is easy to use it doesnÃÕ seem very stable at this point of time so I doubt that I will purchase it.

I sent the same text to support too.

B_Racer  2004-06-14 08:40:18 ( ID:0jd4rmr3tyn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

That's a pinnacle Problem. This software does not produce a 100% compliant MPEG2-Stream. Use Project X to demux the Video first and it will work fine - in any Authoring-Tool.

Get used to it. And good luck getting a response from support -- much less one that isn't snide or outright insulting.

Question - Re-Rendering a MPEG file No.49164
driffert  2004-06-07 19:24:26 ( ID:dug/8wsv8vf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

If you are using an MPEG file as your source, does TMPGEnc Espress 3.0 have to re-render the mpeg file if you make additions or changes and will that result in some loss of quality.

It used to be that you could select a frame for a thumbnail still--now it seems that it has to be a motion thumbnail. I want to have thunbnail stills: is this still possible? Thanks.

Can you PLEASE stop your stupid Farscape Postings?

TDA is an Authoring-Tool, not a DVD-Ripper!

Nohbdy  2004-06-28 23:53:53 ( ID:9mvuas2.08h )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

"Can you PLEASE stop your stupid Farscape Postings?
TDA is an Authoring-Tool, not a DVD-Ripper!"

I point out a problem with the software and you call me "stupid?" I shudder to think how you treat your beta testers.

This smacks of the actions of a company that can't -- or perhaps more properly, WON'T -- support its product. Yet this thing is for sale, it's in version 1.5 and its functions still have problems. (Not to mention the terrible grammar in it, which I could forgive if only its clearly labeled functions worked properly?)

Answer me this, "genius," if TDA isn't intended to be used the way I'm using it, then why is the option to take source from a DVD-folder even there?

Don't fix the software; blame the user who uses it and notices a problem. Great policy, guys.
