Question - Remove Play All Button No.48815
peterv  2003-10-23 03:22:52 ( ID:hczhhoiwjxh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is there any way to remove the "Play All" button in a menu? I want to create just a main menu with 2 tracks and be able to select either track 1 or track 2. I could live with just making the play all button invisible and pushing it to the edge of the screen, but then Track 1 isn't highlighted and I have to use the remote to move over to Track 1 or 2. Is there a way to select which button is the first button?

Thanks

Unfortunatly, you can't remove this Button. All you can do is to resize it an set it into the Overscan-Area. But the Button will stay selectable, so that's not an really good Idea.

peterv  2003-10-24 01:12:11 ( ID:oycyzbxb0cc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks, I've tried that, and it is still selectable, but it's also the selected button so there's no highlight on the screen, which means on a settop player you need to press buttons before you see a highlight.

Question - How to apply shadow to font... No.48813
Jaap  2003-10-21 22:00:31 ( ID:nbpc6d.5p6. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Several standard themes like "Cloud" and "Cool" have shadow
effect applied to font. I can not find a way to apply the
shadow to fonts in my own themes...

Is this missing or do I have to look better?

Question - matt No.48810
clueless  2003-10-21 04:48:01 ( ID:o6suybbgqya )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

OK, an easy one. Why, even with the purchase of the TMPGEnc DVD authoring software can I...

1) Compress an avi file to an MPEG2 file, but...
2) Not be able to view it with even the latest version of Windows Media Player?

Further, I downloaded the Elecard MPEG2 decoder and was able to view these files for, you guessed it, 21 days. When, without warning all these files just appeared scrambly. Turns out, you have to contact the company for a license, which is fine...

But, does it really answer the question of why the heck did I just buy something that would write movie files that I can't watch? If the ENcoder is in the TMPGEnc DVD software why isn't the DEcoder? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills here.

B_Racer  2003-10-21 09:36:04 ( ID:0jd4rmr3tyn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

For a MPEG2-Playback-Decoder, any Company has to pay License-Fees. That's why most(!) DVD-Authoring-Programs don't come with such a Filter/Decoder. Only the expensive one's do include a Decoder.

For Playback MPEG2, you need a Software-DVD-Player. You can try Media Player Clasic from Sourceforge. It includes a simple Playback-Decoder.
Media Player from Microsoft don't come with a Decoder. Microsoft don't want to pay the License-Fee.

clueless  2003-10-22 19:14:44 ( ID:o6suybbgqya )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks! Still seems a little funny to me that authoring software doesn't make their own decoder and bundle that in with their software. It's kind of like not being able to purchase a car with power locks.

Question - Stream Writing Error HELP!!!!!!!! No.48808
KoNuNDRuM  2003-10-20 14:52:07 ( ID:yy0ncampghr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi

I am trying to burn a avi file that was encoded as xvid with ac3 to a dvd to play in a stand alone player... I have used virtualdub to sav the audio as a .wav then renamed to .ac3... then used besweet to convert the ac3 to mp2 and then used tmpgenc to convert the mp2 and video from the avi to an mpg file... used the wizard and selected the dvd pal high quality one... to about 7hrs to do a 1hr movie (part of one) The resulting mpg will play in windvd... i have tried to use tmpgenc dvd author to make the dvd files to burn but when i click the "GO" button the elapsed time gets to about 10secs and then an error comes up "stream writing error" i have searched the net trying to find what this means and as far as i can tell it is something to do with hdd space... I have set the destination and temp folders to a drive with 23gb free space so i don't see how that can be the problem....
I am a newbee to this stuff so if some one could help me with this problem it would be greatly appreciated....

PLEASE HELP ME!!

Any chance to import chapters from ascii file?
Like Premiere markers export:

Timeline Marker Data Output on 19-10-03 16:30:27
Position Duration Comment Chapter URL Frame Target
00:00:06:00 00:00:00:01 Chapter one
00:09:17:18 00:00:00:01 Chapter two

Or any other formatted ascii file...
Would be a great time-saver.

Rodger Mcgough  2003-10-17 03:25:18 ( ID:aou6d7ywrx6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

anybody know if its possible to add audio to the menu screens? - im guessing its not coz i can't see an option for it anywhere, but you guys seem to have a few tricks up your sleeves!

any help is much appreciated

thanks

Trevor_S  2003-10-19 03:40:50 ( ID:yy0ncampghr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The way I do it is to create a small MPEG-2 for the menu. I use Adobe Premier to do this but you could use anything. If I want a still pciture, I will tell Premier to play the "still" for say 30 secs, I drag the WAV file to the timeline and then output to MPEG-2 from there, then simpily tell TMPGEnc to use that MPEG and voila, static image and audio for 30 secs, I edit the image in Photoshop to make it a little transparent for a more professional look (if I can be bothered).

I would prefer it to be the same as Sonics DVDIt PE where you simpily drop the 48Khz WAV file into the background image, maybe in a future release ? Another feature I would like to see is to export the trimmed .VRO files to elemental stream MPEG-2s to allow us to easily use them in any authoring package we like (eg DVD-LAb). I love the quick and easy trimming of VRO files from my Panasonic E-100 and wish I had a standalone app as nifty as TMPGEnc DDVAuthor to do just that !

Darrell2662  2003-12-26 07:08:45 ( ID:g910fludzin )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

This has been a thorn in my side for awhile.I generally use Tmpeg to encode the still w/audio. When I add it as a backround, the time it takes to write it quadruples!
are you saying that encoding it as a still in PREMIERE will reduce this time?
(EXAMPLE):I have a movie which I want to add audio to the backround of all pages(same backround...and is a still backround at that) the audio is exactly 3min 11sec long. The end result is, not only does it take forever to write it in dvd format,It actually takes the still and uses it as an MPG file, whereby my size is also dramatically increased. Mind you, I understand the last part. I mean, I DID encode it as an mpeg file. But that was only because there is no other way to add audio to the backround. If you encode the still w/the audio in Premiere, does DVDAUTHOR recognize it as a still frame w/audio? or will it still write it as though it was a regular video clip?

Question - Nonstandard Characters No.48795
ln108  2003-10-09 23:57:36 ( ID:bcrx6rxh2d. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Using the DVD Writing Tool, whenever I hit "Write DVD", I get the following message:

"The disk label includes nonstandard characterswhich might not be displayed correctly on some players. Do you want to continue the writing process?"

Since I'm only using roman letters in the disk label, I'm wondering why this message.

Help appreciated!

Only uppercase alphabetic, numeric, and "_" characters are
legal for ISO-9660 labels. If you include spaces or lowercase
letters, you'll get the warning. It's probably OK to ignore
it, but I usually just use all caps.

I'm using encore dvd, and i'm trying to make a movie, and i've tried importing every kind of video file i have on my computer and when it trys to import it i get an error message saying the file is corrupt of the type is not supported. I'm assuming its an unsupported file type, but in that case what kind of file does it have to be to import it? i'm using encore dvd 1.0, if anyone has used it before please help.

I had the same problems with Adobe Encore DVD 1.0. I now import all my videos into Adobe Premiere Pro 7 first, export them using "Adobe Media Encoder" using my preferred coding setup, and it all works brilliantly.

NB: Don't multiplex the videos using the DVD setting, it seems to confuse Encore DVD and will often cut the video far short of the end.

rumer  2003-12-11 19:21:45 ( ID:d.bz3uyhxgn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Did you come across error 224 in adobe encore? Because I managed to import the avi movie file well but when I was 'building' the dvd a message would pop up saying error 224 just as it started writing. Anyone out there who could help me here?
