Bug report - Audio sync bug in 1.0.10.36 No.48618
John Quin  2003-06-22 12:11:25 ( ID:bhnr2amhh/j )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have found a bug in TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.0.10 (1.0.10.36)
It occurs when dropping an MPEG1 file into a project. The
audio sync starts to drift and by the time 45 min have gone
the audio leads the video by 3-4 seconds.
The MPEG1 file has Audio at 44.1 KSPS 224kbps
which is being resampled I guess to 48 KSPS for the DVD.
DVD bit rates of 192 kbps and 224 kbps have both been tested
and the bug is present. Looks like the sample rate conversion
is getting lost (round off error???)

Great product,
Will be getting work to buy it soon
Looking forward to the bug fix

Regards
John Quin

yeah, having same trouble here, quite annoying.

Any ideas as to when a patch will be available?

B_Racer  2003-08-25 09:16:01 ( ID:0jd4rmr3tyn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I do not have this problem. But it is always a good Idea to let BeSweet or TMPGEnc (not DVD Author!) do the Audio-Conversion.

Minotaur  2003-08-25 18:47:23 ( ID:r7s8eflde8o )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I had this problem too - using tmpegenc to extract/reencode the audio (via the ES Audio Only) option and then pointing the audio at the created .mp2 file in TDA worked fine - I noticed that doing a demultiplex in tmpegenc produced an autio file that was a different length to the video file! Doing the reencode fixed the problem though.
BTW I am using TDA for creating DVD's of TV episodes in mpeg1 VCD-compliant format.

Bug report - Loss of audio No.48616
Richard  2003-06-17 22:50:10 ( ID:n9t6dm4wrlf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have been using Author to chop the beginning and ends off captured video from a WinTv PVR 250 capture card. Normally the end result is as expected, however occasionally when playing the resulting vob files (either direct from the hard disk or after burning to DVD), there is a high pitched audio click as the film starts to play, followed by silence and the video appearing slightly fast.

Pressing fastforward/rewind or skipping chapters causes the audio to start and the video to run as normal, in sync.

If you reproduce the authoring process except cut one master frame less or more from the beginning of the file and the error doesn't occur.

This is repeatable on the affected input files.

Question - Jerky video No.48615
dew  2003-06-16 18:48:41 ( ID:dvob6yf7wf6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Ok, i am using Adobe Premiere 6.0, and AviSynth as a frameserver so that i can directly export to TMPGEnc 2.5 to compress into a DVD format, it works fine, except when i have clips that play in slow motion (about 75% speed and less) the video becomes very jerky, is there anyway to avoid this??

Bug report - Problem with audio in preview and Edit clip window No.48614
Dr._Seltsam  2003-06-15 19:41:43 ( ID:mjsenf9mkej )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Always a few seconds after starting play in preview or Edit clip window I got a message that my CPU ist not powerful enough. Than audio sound stopped.

I have Duron 1300 an no problems with mpeg2-playback when using other programs.

After doing some cuts in Edit clip window suddenly there was no sound when starting play. A message "Divided by 0." appeared

Bug report - Menu Problems No.48613
Anthea  Home )  2003-06-15 00:07:53 ( ID:6ge6md4zolw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I tried to make a DVD from 6 25-minute-videos (MPEG-2, 720x576, PAL, Audio MPEG1-L2, 48kHz, 192 kbps). The videos are well on the DVD, but the menus just won't work. If I set the first action to "Display main menu", the standalone DVD player just goes into stop. If I select "Play first track" it plays the first track, and when the menu should appear, it just goes into stop. So there seems to be something wrong with the menu settings, regardless what menu options (only main menu, main menu with chapters, several templates tried out, animated or not) I try. The whole thing works rather fine on my computer using PowerDVD, but what is strange that if I select the "Main Menu", the chapter menu of the first track appears, and if I select "Title Menu", the Main menu appears. Is there something wrong with the menu descriptors in the IFO file?

Request - DVD editing features from IfoEdit No.48611

This product is exactly what I've been looking for to edit my many DVD Video_TS folders. The ability to add DVD Video is a nice step in the right direction along with the editing of the DVD. Having been playing in this area for awhile, to make this really attractive to the DVD Editing-Authoring community I wanted to send a couple suggestions your way.

1. Review many of the capabilities of IfoEdit when dealing with DVD Video.
1a. Split into 2 DVD's if greater than 4.7Gb.
1b. Strip only the audio streams you want.
1c. Export and Mux m2v stream for TMPGEnc re-encode.
1d. many more ifoedit features....

I just think if you are going down the path of editing DVD's, why not go the extra mile :)

good stuff!

My life is complete, I was able to successfully remove Jah Jah Binks (spelled wrong) from Star Wars I thanks to TDA! The DVD's work beautifully.

Thank you for all your comments and requests. This is just to let you know that we are listening to what you are suggesting and we will try and inprove the product in accordance with your suggestions.

Yesterday we released an updated version, which will have changed the following things:

TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.0.10 (1.0.10.36)

07Added: The Create menu functions include "Motion menu".

07Improved: Renewed version of the "Sofdec" MPEG decoder.

07Changed: A Multi_PGC_Title that some authoring software creates can also be read when reading a DVD-Video.

07Added: An MPEG file can be used as background in the menu.

07Added: Audio can be played in the Track preview window, the Edit clip window, and the Thumbnail picture selection window. (AC3 audio cannot be played).

07Improved: Better quality when performing audio sampling rate conversion, and higher processing speed.

07Added: When outputting a DVD folder it is not only possible to save it in a child folder named "Volume xxx" but also in a folder named "Volume xxx (project name)". (Selectable in Environmental settings)

07Added: Now supports using DVD video recording standard (VRO) format, recorded in VR mode on a DVD-RAM recorder, etc. as input. In order to use this function, it is necessary to have a PC system that includes drive, device driver, etc. that corresponds to the object media. If the file cannot be copied in Windows, you cannot use this function. Whether or not your system will be able to read such files is determined by many different factors, and we are therefore unfortunately not able to answer any questions how to solve this.
The VRO files written below are different from the DVD-Video standard and cannot be used.

*VRO files with changing video bitrate such as Advanced VRO.
*Files with other resolutions than 720x480, 704x480, 352x480, or 352x240.
*Files where the audio format has not been standardized to LinearPCM, MPEG-1 Audio Layer2, or Dolby Digital AC-3.

07Changed: The project file format has been changed. Project files created in this version cannot be used in previous versions.

07Changed: Various minor things.
07Updated the Help file.

Yeah, very nice. But without a chance to try the new features without restoring an old Windows-Image to reset the Test-Time (30 Days).
Nothing against the 30 Days-Rule, but if you have new features, you should give the Users a chance to try them without "hacking" windows.

Great to hear of improvements. How do we update our trial versions?

When will it be possible to play AC-3 audio in the edit/monitor window? Is there and external codec that can be used?

I'm using the product mostly to import files from my Toshiba RD-X2 via DVD-RAM with AC-3 audio.

Is it possible with this to create dvds from dvb-s recordings without reencoding?

Also an option for importing chapter points.

I agree with you.
I like this product.
The menues management will certainly improve in the future.
I would like to be able to define default behaviours (profile).

jkaiser  2003-06-08 14:45:15 ( ID:eygpq9epb/k )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is there a size limit in editing the MPEG source? I get a little past 60 minutes and the editor goes nuts! Pressing next frame once and the editor becomes un-responsive - next framing to the end of the file. I know I can break the file up but I should not have to.

NEEDED:

1) Menus that have only 1 track do not need a select track menu page. It only needs a select chapters page.

2) Option to output a track to a single VOB (or MPEG) file as opposed to several.

Thanks!

Joe

Yes, put me down for tracks without chapters and chapters without tracks as well.

I would also like to place my vote for tracks without chapters and chapters without tracks.

Definately a needed item, I absolutely hate the select title pages, give us checkboxes or something to allow us to get rid of the pages we do not want

Have a film (oper) with 4 acts. Have made four traks. The first menu is ok. But then I did not find out how to eliminate the chapter menues. I clicked out the 'include chapter' but then the chapter menues are empty but stil there. Or am I using the wrong template ?
