Request - TE25 - Multiple Encoding No.17713
sm2k  2002-04-01 02:01:44 ( ID:x3/fon87r6f )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I think that next version should include multiple encoding, meaning select a couple of movies to encode to mpeg. This feature will be great becuase i encode movies mostly at night when i'm a sleep and if i could incode a few movies over night and not just one it would be great!

Ashy  2002-04-01 02:13:59 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

This is already supported in TMPG and has been for ages.
I'll give you a clue it's called Batch encode.
If you can't work it out either I or someone else will tell u how.

Question - TE25 - Choppy playback No.17707
Nobody-s-perfect  2002-04-01 01:06:16 ( ID:cmypcqutiql )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

A choppy playback is indeed what's happening. I use a DVDplayer to play de VCD's I make. I'm using the template which gives 'Video-CD PAL (MPEG-1 352x288 25fps CBR 1150kbps, Layer-2 44100Hz 224kbps)' which fits the Dutch television standard.
Maybe it is caused by the template? I'm using the right template. So all the VCD I'm using have this problem.

Ashy wrote:
Now there is a way to acheive the correct framerate for your T.V. system without the choppy playback and have perfect A/V sync, but I'm not going to post the instructions on how to do this unless you repost and request them as I don't want to waste my time posting incase you do not read this post.

My answer:
I'm very interested in your post. I've read it and I hope you wil post the instructions. So do others? Thanks in advance...............

Ashy  2002-04-01 01:49:16 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Post the specs of your original AVI. i.e. What is the framerate and resolution and what framerate do you wish to convert it to.

Nobody-s-perfect  2002-04-01 09:25:35 ( ID:cmypcqutiql )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

An example: Start Trek 640x480 30 Frames/sec will be converted to VCD-format:
Video-CD PAL (MPEG-1 352x288 25fps CBR 1150kbps, Layer-2 44100Hz 224kbps)
Is this enough information? Tnx!

Question - TE25 - Adding new versions No.17704
bbutts  2002-04-01 00:47:09 ( ID:fj7obnlaflg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Does each new version of TMPGEnc upgrade the earlier version on my computer or do I need to un-install that first?

Ashy  2002-04-01 01:02:52 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

TMPG doesn't install it runs straight from the executable.

bbutts  2002-04-02 13:08:21 ( ID:oeyk1n2s4x2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks Ashy. I'll keep both versions then!

Question - TE25 - R.E. TECHNO No.17702
Ashy  2002-04-01 00:22:51 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Techno regarding your problem of not being able to open MPEG2 files which have been encoded with TMPG.
This solution works for me. Don't ask me why because I havn't figured it out yet.
Any way all you have to do is simply De-multiplex the MPEG2 file and open the seperate Video and Audio files in TMPG. Also for some reason opening MPEG2 files which TMPG has created creates a wierd effect in the preview screen, but this doesn't affect the actual movie.

Let me know if it works ok.

cybersurfer148  2002-04-01 00:12:29 ( ID:v.kzx2rvb4o )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have a problem, i just reformated and when i decompressed a dvd rip, i was going to encode an avi video into mpeg format using TMPGEnc, and it told me that i needed direct x so i downloaded the lastest version from the microsoft website, and also downloaded divx 3.11 alpha and divx 5.0 pro, but even though, while encoding, it encodes but the problem is that ----> THE VIDEO IS NOT RUNNING WHILE I AM ENCODING, and when it is done encoding, only the audio plays. This has happened ever since I reformated my hard drive so it might be something (like a codec) that i need to install or something, but i dont know why the video does not play while i am encoding the movie, i am waiting to encode a movie so PLEASE respond, email me!!!

Question - TE25 - merge and cut-upside down and in negitive? No.17697
sherlock  2002-03-31 23:58:52 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

when I use the merge and cut feature, the movie in the screen is upside down and in negitive, the same when I try to play it in media player,it plays fine in power dvd,do I have to get rid of power dvd ,I have mpeg1/2 play back built in to my video card,so I shouldn"t have this problem, and I have all the codecs, well the good ones, the movies are fine when I burn them so it"s no big deal,I just want to know.........thanx

amjm  2002-04-01 22:43:14 ( ID:68wufjamszg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I had the same problem I installed Tsunami-Filter-Pack and Nimo Codec Pack they installed a Bicubic size codec and this somehow invert and do lots of stuff to the video. They also include a GX400 that is kind of like a Gui so you can change features in those codecs on mine I told it to permanently invert the output.

I have read that some people complaint that a mpg looks good in the DVD player but not that good in the computer. The answer was that the DVD Player have an integrated Bicubic sizer on it (of course by software) and that the reason for the codec to get better result on playback of your VCD or SVCD.

Question - TE25 - two d2v files-1 from smartripper ,1 from dvd2avi? No.17686
sherlock  2002-03-31 22:08:39 ( ID:a6p1jd3ovjw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

hi, I fairly new to ripping, but have been encodeing for a long time, but my question is ,when I use smartripper it seems to make a d2v. file without useing dvd2avi,there is no audio track,is this supposed to happen?is the d2v. useable?

Ashy  2002-04-01 00:38:02 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Absolutely. There is no need to create another d2v file as the one smartripper creates is just the same without the audio.
To extract the audio do a search on google for VOB2AUDIO.
You will also find this method much quicker.

Question - TE25 - Confused about Audio Delay Correction No.17682
JohnDie  2002-03-31 21:49:48 ( ID:kr.prcqakoo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi!

Im using DVD2AVI to demux AC3 from VOB files. After this a delay value is in the AC3-Filename. My question is now, is it this value that I have to enter in the "Audio Gap Correct" field in the "Source Range" settings? I tried but I think the sound is still out of synch. Then I tried to enter the negative delay value and results seemed to be better, but I'm not quite sure. Does anybody know exactly, if I have to enter the "original" value or the negated value? I tested only with a sound file with a delay of -88ms (stated by DVD2AVI) so the difference is not easily noticeable.
SmartRipper also outputs these DELAY values in the filename. Are these the same or are they inverted? Didn't have a chance to verify this.

Ashy  2002-04-01 01:01:17 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Answer me a question why are you extracting the Ac3 if you are only going to encode it to mp2 in TMPG, this seems pointless to me.
Save yourself the hassle of messing with audio gap settings and just decode the VOB to a wav file and use that in TMPG.

JohnDie  2002-04-01 11:45:18 ( ID:kr.prcqakoo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I demux the AC3 from the VOBs because I want to convert it with Azid to WAV. I know that DVD2AVI can convert AC3 to WAV itself, but I have better results using Azid. And it's also faster than DVD2AVI's own AC3 -> WAV conversion. The resulting WAV is then used as Audio source for TMPGEnc.

Ashy  2002-04-01 14:36:58 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You seem to be doing things a very long way round when there are much simpler methods.
Anyway once you have created a wav from the AC3 you shouldn't need to alter gap settings.
If u want to try a much simpler way and probably faster than your method. This is the fastest method I have used anyway and produces the best quality as I find DVD2AVI produces audio which is to quiet and needs to be amplified.
Using this method the audio doesn't need any more fine tuning.
Do a search on google for a program called VOB2AUDIO. If you need some info on how to use the program then go here:
