Question - TE40 - Wont open downloaded AVI's so I can convert No.63658
mark_steele  2010-09-22 11:14:52 ( ID:fvg6olb5ns. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi all, I am trying to open movie files I have downloaded but it will not let me. The files are AVI's, or so it says.
I am using TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress version 4.7.4.299
I click on add file and then select my file and get the following.
The error message I am getting is
>Can not open video part of file C:\(file location and name).avi only the audio file can be opened.
When I click ok, nothing happens.
Why will it not open these files.

tkrave  2010-09-23 02:32:08 ( ID:rtaw9vhji5c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You most likely don't have the right codec for the video. Use a program like GSpot (http://gspot.headbands.com/) or MediaInfo (http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en) to find out the proper codec.

If I take the output folder and burn it with Windows it works fine. Just having problems burning within TMPGEnc AW4.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

HG TAN  2010-09-21 11:25:18 ( ID:opgp4jtk2yj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm using TMPGEnc 2.5 plus now, planning to upgrade to TMPGEnc XPress. SoI have tried the trial version but discovered that it can't accept the .vdr file frame served from VirtualDub.

Please advise.

Question - TAW4 - Exporting Subtitles No.63643
Waver  2010-09-20 09:12:35 ( ID:lndrqdrey76 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Anyway to export subtitles to use with other software?
for example avi or mov with alpha channel so we can use it with motion graphics software like Adobe after effects??

thanks

tkrave  2010-09-21 03:48:59 ( ID:rtaw9vhji5c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I think you can only export subtitles you've created (either by typing them in manually or using a .srt file or something) then you can export them as an XML subtitle file (.xsubtitle) or a .subtitle file.

Waver  2010-09-26 18:31:36 ( ID:ggakdg4dnbw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks for the answer!
I can export (.xsubtitle) file but I need to convert it to (srt), tried different subtitle software but it seems (.xsubtitle) is not compatible with other programs.

Question - TE40 - TMPGEnc 4.0Xpress's Hardware Utilization (CPU / GPU) No.63642
NYCGirl  2010-09-20 06:19:40 ( ID:eljptydh8.o )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi, I am wondering if this is normal.

When converting an mpg HD into another mpg HD or SD file, I see that only 40% of my Core 2 Quad 2.4Ghz (OCed to 3.2GHz) is used. Core Temp says that only one of the 4 cores is used about 75%, but the other 3 cores are running really low like 24% utilization.

My question is is there anyway to use max out all 4 cores to get the conversion done more quickly? Can this program use only 1 or 2 cores unless you apply filters? ;s And it doesn't even max out one core? I already raised the priority from Task Manager, yet not even one core is hitting near 100%.

Another question is CUDA. After the above observation without CUDA, I turned on CUDA hardware encoding as I have the GeForce 9500GT. The GPU usage is only 30% or so according to GPU-Z. Why does it not fully use CUDA to do the conversion as quickly as possible? Is there anyway to make that happen?

Thank you.

You should contact user support, because I don't think anyone here knows the cause. It might be a codec issue, but i'm not sure.

Request - TMKP - Thumbnailed Scenes Individual File Creation No.63637
IbizanHound  2010-09-19 01:01:57 ( ID:xwts1wmpdom )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

So, the feature I 've always wanted from a media manager is to be able to create shortcut files(that come with their own thumbnail when viewed within windows explorer) in a folder of my choice, out of the scenes/chapters that I set within a video clip , so that when i double click on them the video clip to which they reffer, opens, but in the specific time that the scene/chapter starts at.

This way you can create a library of such shortcut files and categorize them as well.
Example:
Lets say you re a big football fan and you have already used TMPG KARMA to set great goals moments in every match you have.
Lets now say you have a specific player that you admire and you want to only see his goals.
By performing a filtered search through your shortcut scene files you can easily retrieve and watch only the goals of your favourite player!

Thank you for taking the time to read my request and hopefully you 'll find it essential and innovative as I do!

Request - TE40 - Photoshop Integration No.63635

The editor is a perfect environment to be able to edit a frame. Can you add the ability to touch-up a frame by importing it into Photoshop and then exporting it back. Many imperfections found in old movies could be removed with the advanced Photoshop tools, and on a pixel-by-pixel basis if need be.

The provided TMPGEnc filters are good, but they cannot repair a frame to this extent. Adding the Photoshop support would make this product an order of magnitude better as an editing/encoding tool.

I think it is a natural fit. I hope you do too.

Question - TAW4 - Installation Problem No.63634
Oz_in_Uk  2010-09-17 04:34:45 ( ID:jlkztgpoaxl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have recently purchased a new laptop and has Windows 7 64 bit O/S. I have installed several programs since I purchassed it but when I come to installing TMPGEnc Authoring Works 4 I continually get the error "This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer package" the previous O/S was Vista Ultimate 64 bit and I had no problems what so ever and help would be appreciated

tkrave  2010-09-18 01:53:35 ( ID:rtaw9vhji5c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Try re-downloading the installer, maybe it was a bad download or the file is corrupt. If that doesn't work, try contacting user support: http://tmpgenc.pegasys-inc.com/en/support/support.html

Question - TAW4 - Support for Divx Ultra files greater than 4GB? No.63623
DougFite  2010-09-11 14:36:43 ( ID:pkusubwfexf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I was wondering whether Authoring Works 4 will ever support Divx Ultra files larger than 4032MB? I thought the Divx company added support for larger files than this back in 2008 or so... I'd like to completely fill up my regular DVDs, or perhaps burn to DVD-9.

I'm kind of a noob at DVD Authoring so correct me if I'm wrong but I can't get the program to burn larger files than 4032MB in Divx Ultra mode.

Question - TME3 - Delete imported files No.63621
tom.amitai  2010-09-10 11:14:50 ( ID:obg7hmroabr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is there a way from within the program to delete files that have been imported from a dvd? I can't see one, so I have been deleting them by hand from the "C:\Users\username\Documents\TMPGEnc MPEG Editor 3\DVD Imports" folder.

tkrave  2010-09-16 02:03:11 ( ID:rtaw9vhji5c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I think you have to delete them by hand.

Question - TAW4 - Motion Menus No.63616
Blackbeard  2010-09-09 23:22:58 ( ID:zjd2v5k8ejo )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Do you HAVE to simulate the motion menus BEFORE you create the disc in order for the motion menus to work?

it sure does take up alot of time

tkrave  2010-09-10 02:39:01 ( ID:rtaw9vhji5c )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

No. That's just to preview them.
