I'am trying the trial version before bying it, but I have some troubles during the menu rendering for a DVD :
- clips are HDV videos, imported from my HV20 camcorder with HDV Split
- My DVD projets has 5 tracks
- each track starts and finished with a black image, in order to use the "fade out/in (black)" transition for a fading effect at the begining and the end of the track. So my track structure is : black image -> clip 1 ->... -> clip n -> black image, with a "fade out/in" effects on the first black image, and another one on the clip n.
- I only selected a top menu, with "motions menus" feature
When I want to output the DVD, "TMPGEnc Authoring Works" does not work !! The progress bar stays at 0% on the stage "Preparing the rendering of the Top menu page #1" and the remaining time is 11861:715854:42949699.
In the settings of each track, try this: in the box of "Clip linking" choose "do not link the clips"...it worked for me.
Also, when you finish your project, don´t render...save it, close the program and open it again...them render.Of course it´s a bug.And we are the free pesticide hehehe.
Hi,
I recently purchased and installed TAW4. The writing tool dose not work because B's Recorder is not on my system. Just wondering if there are other applications that can be intergrated to work such as Nero.
I was really shocked to find that the software did not include the writing tool burning engine needed. Anybody know where I can find B's Recorder? I went to there website B.H.A but it only showed update support.
try this cos i had the same problem.
tmpgence states dvd drive not working.
do this
B's Recorder GOLD Service.move bgsvcgen from sys wow and replace
in system.
then go to services and start the B's Recorder GOLD.
now it works fine
I was wondering if there are any plans in the future to expand the stream options available to the Mainconcept H.264/AVC encoder. At the moment, it will always create *.mp4 files. I'd very much like to see the option to create BD-compatible *.m2ts files.
Although I am a registered user of TMPGEnc DVD Author v.3.1.2.176, when I come to start the program and it seeks to validate my registration number, it will not accept it. My registration # is correct, and so is everything else and still it refuses to validate. I have no such problems with TMPGEnc Authoring Works 4.0.2.14 and TMPGEnc DVD Author, v.3.1.2 (176), all of which I have a valid registration numbers for.
This validation is bogus. I fear that 'Pegasys' is getting as paranoid as Microsoft. If one has a valid registration number one should not have to leap through all of this stuff just to get your software to run.
I'm getting quite fed up with this and I'm looking for alternative software. Any help is appreciated + any suggestions.
It seems that when one upgrades from TMPGEnc DVD Author v.3.1.2.176 to v.4 the serial # for v.3 no longer works. I can understand that. It's unfortunate however, as I wanted to continue to use v.3 as I got used to the new version.

This should not happen since you purchase this product. The purchasers should be given a full operational package from the download site since this is discontinued. Some users like myself like to use both unitil they get use to the newer package and might want to use both .
Subject pretty much sums it up...processing *.m2ts files from Hauppauge HD-PVR worked with Pentium D 930 processor in Asus P5N32E SLI board, but upon switching to Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz Stepping G0, it would simply not start one-pass encoding and would do only the first pass of two-pass encoding (mpeg). Removed program and reinstalled, and now starts doing encoding, but stops at 1%. Task Manager shows it's still running and CPU is running about 50-70% on all cores, elapsed time counter still runs. When abort is selected, it says it's aborting but never exits. Not sure where to go next.
By the way, the encoding "hang" problem is with the latest release, 4.6.3.268 and it also seemed that 4.5.2.255 was also problematic. I uninstalled and installed 4.4.2.238 and it seems to be working, although it doesn't recognize the AC3 5.1 audio, instead claiming it to be 48000 Hz, 2 Ch.
I also experience hangs with version 4.6.3.268. Encoding just stops and the program hangs. I have a quad core Intel Core i7 920 on a ASUS P6T Deluxe motherboard. I have a dual boot configuration with Windows XP 32bit (SP3) and Vista 64bit (SP1). I tested on both OS and have the same problem.
I never ever experienced this problem on my old PC which was an AMD 64 4400+ on an ASUS A8N-SLI.
I have now isolated the cause for the hangs on my Core i7 system. I found out that the hangs only happened when encoding in DivX format. WMV, QuickTime, MPEG-4, XviD, etc were working ok without hangs
When I migrated to the new system, I have copied the templates filter and exports (C:\Documents and Settings\converterduck\My Documents\TMPGEnc\TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress\Template\Export) to my new system.
While the migrated filters (*.txp4f) work ok, I had to recreate my export templates (*.txp4e) files from scratch. That only worked ok when I selected the "AVI file output" from the "Output templates for specific format" menu and then selected the "DivX 6.8.5 Codec (8 Logical CPUs)(DIVX)". When I selected the "DivX file output" from the "Output templates for specific format" menu, the encoding hangs. So it seems to be a problem with TMPGEnc when selecting the already predefined "DivX file Output". The same bug also exists in the DivX Author 1.5 product, which is based on TMPGEnc Xpress 4.5.
I opened a call with Pegasys-inc support. They confirmed what I found and documented in my last response:
Dear ..., thank you for your mail.
This problem is happening by output DivX format, so please try to
output by the AVI output template then at codec list choose the DivX
codec, and check about it.
Can anyone suggest me which one is better? It looks to me that PLUS is more advance, but it no longer has a new version. Or perhaps it's been discontinued. So I was wondering is the Xpress now a better encoder? Produce a better quality and speed?
Overall, XPress is more advanced because it has more input/output formats, but if you're just converting avi's and mpeg's, 2.5 Plus may be a good option for you. I think some people prefer 2.5's encoding engine over XPress' but personally, I don't know if one can output higher quality over the other.
You can try the freeware version of 2.5 which is almost the same as Plus, the biggest difference being you won't be able to encode to MPEG-2 after 30-days.
2.5 is definitely an older product; if you use it, you'll be able to tell that right off the bat with its somewhat clunky user interface. I think they keep it around in case people want to upgrade from the freeware version.
Hi all
I loaded from nvidia site the 2.0 cuda and have the latest tmpgEnc 4.0 Express as I bought it about a week ago. In the pref. I can't get my card to see the Cuda. Is there something I have to do with the cuda software to get it to be recognized. I load the 3 things from Nvidia they said I would need. The cuda 2.0 the toolkit and sdk in the order they said I needed. What I didn't see is how to enact it with the 4.0 Express. I'm I missing some steps to enact it with this software. The manual gave the impression was I didn't need to do anything but load the drivers 2.0 to make it work and choose the cuda in pref. in the 4.0 Express and it would enable it to work with the encoding. I'm using encoding of BDMV mpeg-2, 1920X1080, 29.97 fps, CBR, 32000 kb/s / audio Linear PCM, 48000 Hz, Stereo, 1536 kbps. What am I doing wrong or is it a software compatability issue that it doesn't recognize the Quadro FX 4600.
If you look at the CUDA site and find the list of supported cards, I think you'll find that your card is not listed, I'm pertty sure it has to be FX9xxx series cards and higher.
In any case, you should contact support and see if this is a known problem. I'm sure they haven't tested every type of CUDA-capable card out there. Who knows, they might have a temporary solution for you.
Concerning the BACKUP CD for TMPGEenc 2.5, I see that was not available as a completely standalone item , however , is a second software order required to obtain that disc if not selected with the first download purchase ?
Using Works 4 I made a DVD from 39 mpeg2 clips. The rendered vob files play fine in the vlc player with the audio showing up on track 1. Then when I make an iso of the rendered dvd and attempt to play the iso in vlc I have video but no sound until I go to the audio menu and manually select track 2. Windows XP SP3.
I resolved this problem by creating a single mpeg2 file from the vob files and then running the mpeg through the VideoReDo Plus Quickstream Fix. After that I created a DVD and from that another iso. The audio is now as it should be now
My guess would be that it doesn't support .pvr movie files since it's not listed in the specs. Your best bet would be to try an convert it to normal mpeg file first.
I have two audio tracks on one of my videos - is it possible to create a one page menu and have a button to select an audio track? It appears AW4 wants to create a complicated menu structure!
I have an AVI file that plays fine - but when loaded to the editor displays with the vertical hold "off" - multiple versions of display are squished and at a diagonal. Of course the output is the same.
A picture of this can be sent if needed, or the output of Gspot. How can this be corrected?
