Question - TE40 - AC3 5.1 channel audio export No.59328
Goldstar_one  2010-02-25 23:46:31 ( ID:evylihqtg3f )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have tried to import an AVCHD video clip containing AC3 5.1 channel Audio and when I use the Standard Blu-ray template I can't get any audio other than "stereo". Does this software even have the ability to export 5.1 channel audio ?? whats the point in having "import 5.1 channels" if you can't export them using the Blu-ray template.

tkrave  2010-02-26 01:55:07 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

At this point, no, it can't encode ac3 5.1. Right now the only output format that supports 5.1 audio is WMV (actually it can go up to 7.1), but that's WMA or whatever WMV uses for audio.
I'm really not sure why they don't just implement dolby 5.1 output; some of their other products have it so adding it to their most popular product seems like a no-brainer.

Fire1313  2010-03-31 00:01:27 ( ID:cm385hsbwr. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

So if i understand this correctly. If i convert a DVD to MPEG2 I will only get the stereo 2 channel and not the original 5.1 Audio. Is there any software out there that will convert the 5.1 AC3 audio in a DVD to MPEG conversion.

cubdukat  2011-01-31 08:30:36 ( ID:cxcoqd4gk2f )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Unfortunately, your only option is finding some way to demux the file, render the Blu-Ray file as "video only," then remux the video and audio after the fact.

Hopefully we'll get 5.1 encoding and/or passthru when this new version comes out in a couple days, but until then, this is your only option.

Video Mastering Works 5 will have 5.1 output support for Dolby Digital.

Request - TME3 - How fast it Tmpg? No.61188
Bronco  2010-02-25 16:08:14 ( ID:mynxuv/ur16 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

How fast can I make a 50 minute DVD with Tmpgenc. I am interested in using this product to make DVDs from mpeg-2 files from my Sony hard drive camcorder. The files were shot in Standard Definition /Standard Quality. The files are of sports events. I do not want to edit the files, but simply rearrange the files. I would also like to have each file in its own chapter. I tried this with editors not specific for editing mpeg, but it took forever to get the job done.

tkrave  2010-03-02 01:11:46 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It will be very fast since this product does not re-encode your video. However, since it is not an encoder, your source video must be compliant with whatever output format you're going with.
I suggest you download the trial and try it for yourself. I believe you can go through the whole process of creating a test DVD, but the your video must be less than 30 minutes (just a limitation of the trial version).

Question - TE40 - pci-e1 & Leadtek No.59324
renderman  2010-02-24 01:19:11 ( ID:o./i.1y.10h )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Can I put the leadtek card in any other slot besides the pci-e1? The reason is that card won't fit in the pci-e1 slot because cooling pipe is in the way.

Mathew Lisett  Home )  2010-02-24 03:09:23 ( ID:j4wgrwyhra2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

quite simple really, nope, and deal with the pipe, adjust it somehow, but unless theres another pci-e slot youve got not option.

renderman  2010-02-24 04:30:02 ( ID:o./i.1y.10h )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thank you very much.

tkrave  2010-02-24 20:24:41 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It can also be plugged into a pci-e x4, x8, and x16 slot, but the x1 slot is the recommended configuration. There are some compatibility issues with some newer Intel chipsets like the X58, but if you don't have one of those, then I don't think you should run into any problems.

Question - TAW4 - Creating a PAL DVD from scratch, resolution questions No.62607
SomeGuy  2010-02-24 00:15:49 ( ID:lydep.szncc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello,

I am trying to create a PAL 4:3 DVD from scratch, and having trouble figuring out which resolution my clip should have, so when I author it with TMPGEnc A.W. it comes out right when played on the TV. To simplify my tests, I have created a little avisynth script which creates a small video out of thin air (see below).

What happens right now is that it does not fit on the TV screen. I.e., the red border from the .avs is missing, and the text is having some letters cut off on both sides. I have tried many different settings for the track / clip / video in TMPGenc, to no avail so far.

Anyway, here's that avisynth script. It simply renders some text with a red border. **I am fully aware that the everything will have the wrong aspect ratio** (the text will be skewed) the way I have set it up, the only thing I care about right now is to get the red border smack on the border of the TV screen.

video = Version()
sourceW = 436
sourceH = 80
palW = 720
palH = 576
scaledW = sourceW*palW/sourceW
scaledH = sourceH*palW/sourceW
video = BicubicResize(video,scaledW,scaledH,0,0.5)
video = AddBorders(video,0,(palH-scaledH)/2,0,(palH-scaledH)/2)
border = BlankClip(video,color=$ff0000)
Overlay(border,Crop(video,4,4,-4,-4),x=4,y=4)

My last (non-working) clip settings are "Aspect ratio: Pixel 12:11 (PAL 4:3)" for the clip and "Aspect Ratio: 4:3" for the track. Obviously, if I decrease the "palW" and "palH" by trial and error, I could likely get it to work correctly, but I would rather understand where the problem is, and which is the correct resolution of my source video, and the correct clip&track settings.

Any help appreciated!

Request - TAW4 - Dinamic Template No.62605
Jerry  2010-02-23 14:03:11 ( ID:ml//b7ovqy. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello Everyone,
Could i ask you about the premium templates because i can not understand the difference between them and the build ones.I saw a dinamic tamplate.What does it mean?What can it change?
Thanks

tkrave  2010-02-23 18:56:37 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I guess they're supposed to be better than the free ones, but I think that's subjective.

Dynamic templates typically have one track/chapter thumbnail with multiple text track/chapter buttons. When you select/mouseover a text button, the thumbnail image changes to show the selected track/chapter. Some of the free templates have dynamic thumbnails; just download those and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Request - TE40 - Slideshow auto cutoff and fade audio out when run out photos No.59323
natong  2010-02-23 11:20:28 ( ID:wfgmosswsen )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Slideshow with audio is hard to usage.

We can't find song that best fit with a small number of photos.

It should be have an options:

1. Auto loop audio when have too many photos.
2. Auto cutoff and fade audio out when run out photos.

Are you sure it's not in the list? It'd be listed as TMPGEnc Authoring Works 4 Trial or something like that.

Unfortunately you can't make buttons for each page like in that pic. All you can have is the next, previous, last, and first page buttons.

yes you can.
create a picture "1-7" and replace with "go to first page", create "8-10" and replace with next page, create "11-17" and replace with go to end button...

tkrave  2010-04-05 18:20:12 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

>yes you can.
>create a picture "1-7" and replace with "go to first page", create "8-10" and replace with next page, create "11-17" and replace with go to end button...

That's assuming you only have a certain amount of chapter pages. If you have more than 4 chapter pages, you wouldn't be able to list them all.

But you are right, it is possible within those restrictions.

tkrave  2010-04-05 18:49:41 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I take that back, that would only work if you have 3 chapter pages or less.

Request - TAW4 - Output to AVCHD DVD No.62595
MontanaIrish  2010-02-20 22:57:40 ( ID:70w8za3dvlc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Would like AVCHD DVD as an output format for TMPBEnc Authoring Works 4.0. With so many video camera's doing AVCHD now, it would be great to be able to burn AVCHD DVD to use on Blu Ray players, without burning a Blu Ray disk. This works great with Nero's tools. It also allows to play on many computers, even without Blu Ray capability, but gives the top quality.

There is a work around for this.

I would say unistall, clean the system with a prog like tuneup utilities, reboot, and reinstall.

and make sure you have up to date codecs.

Question - TE40 - directcompute or ati stream for no nvidia user No.59320
Phoenix  2010-02-20 19:41:35 ( ID:zz2naspzovj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

this is a next version of Tmpgenc Xpress will take advantage of GPGPU computing via directcompute of directx11 ?

nvidia disappoints me more and more by its poltique rating of physx cuda or often "reserved" for software that requires nvidia quadro

Briefly, directx11 and directcompute a new horizon for tmpgenc xpress ?

Question - TAW4 - Can't import avi file with h.264 codec No.62591
AoiDxc  2010-02-19 17:43:40 ( ID:nltbapxhiwj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have a video in avi format but when it's imported to TMPGEnc Authoring Works 4 shows the error "cannot open the file c://******"

Using gspot shows the following codecs.

Video
codec: H.264 name: H.264/MPGE-4 AVC "codecs are installed"

Audio
codec: 0x0055 MPEG-1 Layer 3 "codecs are installed"

Somebody could tell me why the video cannot be imported?
I'm using windows 7.

tkrave  2010-02-20 02:11:18 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Can you play the video in Windows Media Player? And does it use ffdshow?

AoiDxc  2010-02-20 15:04:04 ( ID:nltbapxhiwj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Yes, i can play it in windows media player but i don't know how to identify if it is using ffdshow

I have installed a codec pack called win7codecs from Shark, and there is a "set h264 to use ffdshow" option. Maybe should i try with that?

tkrave  2010-02-23 19:09:51 ( ID:lgrl8ryjzyl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I only ask about ffdshow because I've run into problems with H.264 avi files where the video wouldn't load in Authoring Works 4. Turns out they were using ffdshow codecs.

You can tell if the video is using ffdshow because a ffdshow icon will appear in the notification area of your taskbar when you play the file in Windows Media Player. I've found that changing some settings in ffdshow have solved my problems.

Open the ffdshow video decoder configuration (Start menu-->All Programs-->ffdshow-->video decoder configuration). You should see a list of video formats. Under the column for "Decoder" right-click anywhere and select one or both of the options ("Set all stable formats to libavcodec" or "Set all supported formats to Xvid"). Click OK to close the window and see if the file can be opened in Authoring Works.
