ppsystem  2007-02-11 13:36:50 ( ID:whrqtudrlcm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello,
I'm using tmpgenc plus 2.5 and I have installed the pdvcodec(DV-AVI)from Panasonic. But in the videocompression list I can't see this pdvcodec. In virtualdub I can see this pdvcodec. So what's wrong ? Can somebody help me ?
Operating system XP SP2

Question - TE25 - saves analyzing result No.43646
davexnet  2007-02-10 05:12:20 ( ID:ofs9kdfwssj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

If I encode a divx/xvid avi in virtualdub 2-pass, the results of the first
pass are saved on a file in the harddrive. it's there until I delete it.
I can then encode the 2nd pass as many times as I like, without having to
reproduce the analyzing result (1st pass) again.

In Tmpg, the option "saves analyzing results" seems that it's similar,
except it's not. Where are the analyzing results saved?
Does it really help the 2nd pass? I tried a 2pass vbr without specifying
"saves analyzing results", and I couldn't see the difference.

It seems that it should behave the same as virtualdub to be useful.
Unless I don't understand it's implemtation. I'm using version 2.5
Tmpgenc Plus.
Thanks for any enlightenment.
Dave

Question - TE40 - tmpgenc xpress 4 No.58054
perquin  2007-02-07 09:34:15 ( ID:ldjj1w1vell )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello,

I'm testing tmpgenc xpress to produce file for hd dvd and bluray authoring. I have good succes in making hours of mpeg2 with tmpgenc before and really like your product.

1 Do you have template for this format ?

I can encode in MP@HL at 1920/1080 without any problem.

But I can't make MPEG4 AVC greater than 720X576 ? there is no warning in the spec !!!!

2 Do you plan to have hd in mpeg4 AVC ?

3 Do you plan to have vc1 elemantary stream (not wm9) ?

I have acces to all sonic hd dvd and bluray products, if it can help to make test

4 do you plan to add 3:2 pulldown in other format than mpeg2 ?

5 Do you plan a more easy support way ? and a forum for your buyer ?????????

Thx a lot for the help

Question - TE40 - RMVB => DivX conversion time No.58053
EatMoreChicken  2007-02-03 17:10:46 ( ID:mcyammxwt4m )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm using a P4 1.6ghz w/ 768mb ram to convert rmvb to divx. It take about 2-3hrs for a 45minute 512x384 video clip on a multipass (2) 1200Kbs video bite rate. If I upgraded to a faster system w/ a dual or quad process and HT, how much faster will be conversions be?

Periodic licence means I will never buy your products
This is a shame because I very much liked your free demo.

Your paranoia has just lost you a customer for good.

Think about this - people who NEED your program will buy it.
People who just WANT it will steal it.
People who steal it wouldn't have bought it in the first place.

The software industries Paranoia is a stupid as the music and video industries.

Question - TE40 - How does scene change detection work? No.58051
toaddawet  2007-01-14 09:15:11 ( ID:zogyrt1o0df )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hey guys--long time user of TMPGEnc programs, first time posting here.

I have seen some snippets about this, but no answer. One of the features that convinced me to upgrade to Xpress 4.0 was the promise of "Automatic Scene Change Detection". If that features works, it will save me loads of time--but like one of the other users mentioned, I have clicked every way I know how and cannot get ANYTHING that even resembles what that feature is supposed to do. The user manual for the program is completely worthless on this point--it has about one sentence about the feature and the instructions are vague at best.

Does ANYONE know how this darn feature works?

In the Cut-Edit window, clicking with the middle mouse button on the thumbnail navigator will move the playhead to the next scene. Click to the right of the playhead to move forward, left to move back. Sensitivity can be adjusted in the Preferences.

Bug report - TE40 - TE4XP Hi-CBR frozen first second bug No.58050
Emulgator  2007-01-12 09:20:02 ( ID:mcrzur4qs1j )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi !

Using TE4XP in MPEG2-CBR mode.

CBR Bitrates of 8000 kbps and more result in a non-DVD-playable first GOP !

First Found Sequence Header shows the first parameter "Bitrate" as 20000 !

This exceeds DVD specs and so this bug leads to a frozen first GOP !

Bitrate viewers regularly show an bitrate excess within the first GOP.

Bug is visible when played back as m2v.files
by DVD-conform software players like PowerDVD,

visible when played back as authored DVD,

not visible when played back by open MPEG2 Players likes MediaPlayerClassic.

Question - TE25 - How to encode 16:9, 720 x 404 avi? No.43645
newencoder  2007-01-10 21:13:25 ( ID:mjsfs3y0w2l )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have an avi file with 720 x 404 and is 16:9 aspect ratio.
I want to encode it to a DVD to watch on a 16:9 TV.

What should I set the source aspect ratio, video arrange method, output resolution and aspect ratio?

My first attempt was to ignore the source aspect ratio (it doesn't seem to have any effect on the output), set the video arrange method to center (default), set the output resolution to 720 x 480, output aspect to 16:9.

This works ok. The resulting DVD when play, will expand to fill the screen automatically. However, whenever there are subtitle/text on the screen I notice they have re-sampling blur. How can I avoid this blur?

Question - TE25 - vertical upscale of interlaced video No.43644
muxx  2007-01-10 00:33:54 ( ID:2lnq5esol3h )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

hello everyone

I have a question regarding cropping and encoding interlaced video. I am capturing interlaced signal from a Hi8 camcorder and obviously there's some junk on all sides. I crop it and optionally resize (for fullscreen). the question is, how does it affect interlace (1) and MPEG encoder (2). AFAU, there are several scenarios. lets outline a couple:

1. the image is cropped and then upscaled to full DVD resolution. this is simple for horisontal scale, but non-obvious for vertical, since several lines have to be added. I don't understand how vertical upscale works with interlaced video. either pairs of fields are duplicated every now and then, which is not the best upscale algorithm, or the image is deinterlaced, upscaled, and then interlaced again, which kinda misses the point of interlace. what does TmpgEnc do when I choose crop+fullscreen ?
1. back bands are created around the image. encoder will waste bandwidth encoding them and there will be artefacts near the edges. this is the scenario for crop+center AFAIU.

I would be extemely helpful if someone answers these two questions and possibly recommends what interlace/crop/scale options of TmpgEnc I should use to make DVDs out of my Hi8 recordings.

thanks very much in advance.
