Question - TE25 - .RM, Real Media No.43026
Guest  2005-03-16 17:15:49 ( ID:1kv5fguewpl )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have Real Alternative installed, so I can use TMPGenc to enconde .RM(real media) movies into .mpg format. However, the audio will not encode. It produces a blank audio track. Is there any way to fix this. Thanks.

ashy  2005-03-16 19:24:41 ( ID:c9rwdyebxxw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The only way is to extract the audio to a wav first or use AVISYNTH to frame serve.

feins  2005-03-17 08:22:32 ( ID:xqquthtystn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Like to know which version of Tmpgenc that u use to convert Rmvb files as i test only those old version 2.59.47.155 release year 2002 that manage to read RMVB files and the latest release 2.524.63.181 unable to read RMVB files. please advise.

ashy  2005-03-17 21:42:33 ( ID:c9rwdyebxxw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

As he said in his post you need to install the 'Real alternative' codec.

feins  2005-03-18 12:52:12 ( ID:xqquthtystn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I already had Real Alternative real splitter install. but only Tmpgenc 2.59 can open rm or rmvb extention. tmpgenc version 2.524 or tmpgenc 3.0 are unable to open rm and rmvb extention even with Real alternative. Any explanation on this method ?

ashy  2005-03-19 12:02:03 ( ID:c9rwdyebxxw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Sorry mate, but it works for me on ANY version. It's either likely that particular file you have or you need to raise the priority of the 'Directshow file reader'

Guest  2005-03-26 00:28:22 ( ID:hkizw5u8g3j )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Thanks for the advice ashy.

and i'm using the latest version of tmpgenc, works fine with .rm video, don't know about .rmvb. Search for .rmvb or .rm conversion guide on videohelp.com, i saw one there.

Question - TE25 - Strange MPEG audio encoding by TMPGenc No.43022
aldaco12  2005-03-16 11:17:15 ( ID:oqc/f/b5mok )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi. I have this question, which can not be easily answered , I assume.
I've noticed that, demultiplexing the audio from a mpeg with TMPGenc from a 1h 55' movie, I obtain a .MP2 audio file about 190 MB large. Instead, if I re-encode that sound using BeSweet's profile 'MP2 for SVCD' I obtain the same sound (as long as before, and 44.1 kHz, too), but the size is 104 MB, therefore about half its size.
More, if I add thet MP2 sound to an AVI (substituting its one) with VirtualDubMod, the movie I obtain is excellent and very compatible to any TMPGenc's coversion. Instead, adding the TMPGenc's created MP2 file, I obtain an AVI which cannot be correctly reconverted to mpeg (the sound is un-sync with the video), and therefore cannot be a good AVI backup for my movie (because: [1] it's larger [2] it gives no correct mpeg).
What it the explanation for this? Do I do something wrong or it's TMPGenc 2.5 which is bad encoding the audio stream of all movies?

aldaco12  2005-03-16 11:23:12 ( ID:oqc/f/b5mok )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Just a point: if I load any MP2 with TMPGenc's 'audio input' the conversion AVI --> MPG goes well. The conversion is BAD only if the TMPGenc loads as input (video/audio) the AVI I obtain by multiplexing TMPGenc's created MP2 to the video with VirtualDubMod. It seems that in that way the audio input is NOT the MP2 file correctly used.

aldaco12  2005-03-17 14:09:18 ( ID:oqc/f/b5mok )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I've found it! The problem is that the 2 MP2 files have a different birate, even if BeSweet told a dirrerent thing: the MP2 desampled by the .MPG is, indeed, 224 kbps. Instead, the MP2 audio made by BeSweet with profile 'MP2 for SVCD' , which makes a working AVI (if multiplexed to the AVI video with VirtualDubMod) is, if read by HeadAC3ge, a 'MP3 2ch joint stereo 128 kbps'.
Therefore this returns, because the ratio of the 2 sizes is exaclty 224/128.
What I cannot understand is why using VirtualDubMod to add that MP3 128 kbps audio to the Video makes a working AVI and, instead, adding the MP2 224 kbps audio file to the Video creates a wrong (if watched, the audio is un-sync with the video) movie file.

ashy  2005-03-19 12:12:22 ( ID:c9rwdyebxxw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

>Therefore this returns, because the ratio of the 2 sizes is exaclty 224/128

What is?
If the bitrate is fixed then it is either 224Kb/s or 128Kb/s whether it is joint stereo or not. 128Kb/s is 128Kb/s and 224Kb/s is 224Kb/s no matter whether i'ts stereo, joint stereo or mono. The size will always be exactly the same.

Also as far as I know Virtualdubmod cannot mux Mp2 audio correctly as it will give it the wrong header.

You need to use AVIMUX04 for this.

Question - TE25 - AVI unsupported No.43019
frans  2005-03-15 10:12:11 ( ID:i9z2s6lqgmj )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Every time I try to convert an AVI to MPEG I get the message "can not open, or unsupported".
I have converted AVI files before.
Can anyone tell me what's wrong?

Frans

aldaco12  2005-03-16 09:49:30 ( ID:oqc/f/b5mok )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Usually it happens whan you don't have a proper codec installed on your system (or if the file is a mpeg-2 and you don't own TMPgenc Plus). Usually Xvid and DivX open 99% of the movies. Sometimes havinf the all-working decoder FFDShow is enough...but Xvid is free and the DECoder part of the DivX coDEC is free, too, so...

bbq  2005-03-21 19:07:45 ( ID:dlodvgq6e8n )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

thank you may be able to answar my similar question. I captured a avi using VirtualDub with DivX5 (divX5.2.1 free version) compressed, it will play in Windows media Player (probably 9) and divX player---so the encoder/decoder shall be somewhere in the PC. but TmpegEnc (and VirtualDub) can't open this file. How to solve this?

I have a big problem here making the program totally unusable.
I've re-installed it and it still does it.

I also see other people have "short" DVD files

Is this program any good or should I go out and buy one that works or at least offers SOME support ?

Question - TE25 - Problem during encoding No.43016
J.m  2005-03-14 18:12:04 ( ID:cl393hxwwcm )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The problem starts at the very beginning of encoding a simple avi file.
I get an error message right after I hit START???

Error message: "write error occured at adress 7783AED of module 'ntdll.dll' with 00000000"

The adress changes frim time to time but the module is always 'ntdll.dll'.

Does anybody know what I should do???

aldaco12  2005-03-16 09:52:27 ( ID:oqc/f/b5mok )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Strange you have a write error.. does the output name is = than the input file name is so, change it. This happens if the input file is a .MPG)? Or do you have forbidden access to that directory (disk full or admin directory and you don't have admin rights)?

ashy  2005-03-16 09:57:48 ( ID:c9rwdyebxxw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

This usually turns out to be a dodgy memorystick problem or incompatible sticks.

First try installing FFDSHOW if that doesn't work try swapping memory.

Question - TE25 - How can I register for my TMPGEnc? No.43013
Michael  2005-03-14 10:42:49 ( ID:xnal1ubatxf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I d/led the TMPGEnc in the page Download, but i found that i can't register it. On the otherwords, I'm forced to not to use it within 30 days. Where can i register it? What can i do?

aldaco12  2005-03-14 13:43:19 ( ID:oqc/f/b5mok )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

By selecting 'Help____About' does a new window opens for you?

ashy  2005-03-15 20:05:31 ( ID:c9rwdyebxxw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You need TMPGenc plus to register.
It will ask you for the key every time you open it. You have 14 days trial use before you need to enter the key.

Question - TDA1 - Help on Cropping Video No.49376
Snoopy  2005-03-12 15:48:39 ( ID:3zdogaxy70l )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have a set of VOB files. They are originally in 16:9 NTSC Video format.
But when i create DVDs, i convert them into 4:3 NTSC format by adding
two blank frame on top and bottom.

How can i crop them back to 16:9 format?

Thanks in advance.

B_Racer  2005-03-14 09:47:32 ( ID:0jd4rmr3tyn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You are doing ... what? Sounds a bit crazy.
TMPGEnc only is able to do a PAL-Speedup (23.976->25 by speeding up the Video). On any other kind of Framerateconversion you will get jerky playback. And you have to do a correct resizing (10/11 -> 54/59)

Question - TDA1 - Need help with creating multiple tracks DVD with chapters No.49375
Ludivine  2005-03-11 20:06:44 ( ID:o7r5lwsiaj2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I've just started using TMPGEnc DVD author and I'm trying to create a DVD with multiple tracks that would be also divided by chapters. Just for testing, I've been able to create a DVD that had two tracks (each containig 4 chapters). The first track works fine when I play it on my DVD player but there is a problem with the second track. Even though the second track is also divided in 4 chapters, I'm only able to play the first one (even if the 4 chapters for this track appear in the menu. When I try to play this track, it only plays the first chapter and goes back to the main menu.
I've read many tutorials and I'm following every step but everytime I try, I have the same problem. Could you help me?

Question - TDA1 - Cant make a DIVD bu=igger than 9Gb No.49370
Paulus  2005-03-11 15:17:32 ( ID:ysconmzn55r )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I cant make a DVD bigger than 9GB - this is a big problem for me
I run DVD format demonstrations on my hard drive and need the larger size to
maintain quality settings and dont want to keep using DVD shrink.

DVD author also doesnt let me make a bigger DVD so I can cut and paste chapters
to re-design my output.

This seems to be an artificial limit imposed for no reason I can see.

thank you

B_Racer  2005-04-04 13:20:58 ( ID:0jd4rmr3tyn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

DVD ist limited to 8.7 GByte (DVD9).
Even professional Authoring-Programs aren't able to produce bigger DVDs.

usui  2005-04-25 08:17:34 ( ID:4ekbtgjc8go )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

its sort of odd as about 3 months ago when I was authoring dvds everyday tmpg was letting me author dvds as large as 15gb and i stopped authoring for a while and now I started back up again and it wont let me go any larger then 9 anymore.

User name  2005-06-17 16:13:24 ( ID:kxnlkluwigr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

professional programs do indeed create larger dvds I do it all the time
for presentation purposes I have some over 70Gbytes in size

the newer DVD writers currently being prepared for release later this
year will either use 35 or 50Gbyte sizes

this program and any other that limits rather than just warns users
of sizes is doing so deliberately to generate extra sales as has been noted elsewhere

there is no natural break nor a reason to put one in for any technical purpose whatsoever

it is just marketing deceipt

Steven  2005-07-01 11:50:14 ( ID:kxnlkluwigr )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I just found this problem myself yesterday
I make DVD format files and store them on my hard drives for
archiving and it refuses to make a 9.3Gbyte file.

this is stupid and I'm angry

Bug report - TDA1 - DVD Author Creates DVD's that are 1Gb or more short No.49368
Paulus  2005-03-11 15:13:26 ( ID:ysconmzn55r )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

When I create a DVD using 1.6 I frequently (about 1 in 2) end up with a
DVD thats about 1GB short.

I use the same applications all the time so its not a source file issue I dont think. (hauppauge WinTV PVR350) I've tried varying the settings but it still happens.

I'm using win-98SE and Fat files cut to 2Gb in size by PVR and combining and editing in DVD Author. Everything looks good except the created directory/DVD ends up short.

ANON  2005-05-31 17:21:46 ( ID:obpknhn0pf. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Dunno if how big this dvd was, but if user is using older fat16 or 32 filesystem
remember one file (iso, bin, or nrg) can be no larger then 4gb. ntfs supports one file being larger than 4gb, but fat does not.

Bug report - TE30 - Mr No.53423
MButler  2005-03-10 21:42:07 ( ID:uggl1b16g8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I am having problems with the batch tool in TMPGenc 3.0 Xpress just like everyone else has described. I have read the answer provided in the FAQ on this issue but regret that I am not sure I know exactly what it means and so I do not know how to correct my use of the tool. If I add a number of files but do not register them in the batch tool they all convert properly. It is only when they are registed in the batch tool that every other file ends up all black. This is a great product which I will continue to use except for the batch tool as it is unreliable. Perhaps the development team should reconsider the answer that has been provided in the FAQ to assist us in achieving functionality for the batch tool.

drose12  2005-03-18 02:59:56 ( ID:aubtnpwr0yc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Yes, I have this problem too. I can save the project, and convert the file and it works fine. Take that same project and register it in the batch tool, and I will only get audio, no video. You can tell right away too, since the file size is way too small.

It does not seem to be easily reproducible for me tho, if we could get it reproducible, we could give it to support to fix.

MButler  2005-04-03 16:06:39 ( ID:uggl1b16g8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

With the latest revision to TMPGenc 3.0 Xpress the batch encoder tool is now working properly. I have used it successfuly for several projects. Thank you for listening Tech Support.
