1) If i want to convert a movie that isn't fullscreen (ie that format that isn't quite widescreen that a lot of tv shows use... i forget the term at the moment), what options do i select so that TMPGnc doesn;t stretch it to fullscreen?
2) If I'm converting a file that's, say, 700 Mb, does it matter how big I set the output file to be? ie is there a quality difference in making it 700 Mb vs 1 Gig since the original was only 700 mb?
I have a strange problem. I used TMPGEnc to convert a JPEG menu I have along with an MP3 file. It worked the first time. Then, I thought that the audio was too soft so I used Goldwave to maximize the volume and then plugged it back in TMPGEnc to convert. This time, it won't accept the MP3 no matter how many times I try! It says this error:
Hi, im having an issue with TMPGENC dvd author writing tool, any VOB files I create an ISO file for, it hangs on 19% and then displays an error message "file not found or", thats it! I can't even see what is after the or!!! I have tried various methods, but still it crashes, used various different DVD vob files, but with no luck. It's abit strange that it crashes on 19% every single time, any clues on how to fix this?
I'm trial user.
When I select in Video settings "2-pass VBR" and "Highest quality (very slow)" program closes after 1st pass with no additional message.
Output files are empty (0kb).
It happens for different files.
All files are DV files.
With "slow" precision everything is OK.
Is there a beginners guide to the program somewhere?
I'm having issues... My biggest problem is that when converting a standard .avi file to MPEG using VCD NTSC (I'm going for smallest size right now) when I play back the file, the .mpg created, I only see black. I'm not sure if there is sound or not-this computer doesn't have speakers.
I don't need sound on the video-and the mics for our cameras are all turned to line so they shouldn't be picking up sound anyway. Is there anyway to just cut all the sound out? So that's it's not included in the encoding process?
Why can't i encode subtitles in a DivX encoded .avi when using TMPENC Xpress 3 to convert it to MPEG 2? The subs work in WMPlayer (VobSub pops up and everything) but XPress just doesn't seem to use any .srt, .sub or any sub file. It works fine with an Xvid
It seems to work version 2.5 although when the frame rate stutters like hell.
Anyway around this? Or is there an alternative program i can use to encode these subs? Am i missing something?
That doesn't affect the subtitling in Xpress 3. Does anyone know if its just a feature of DivX files and subitles? Why does TMPENC 2.5 work and Xpress not work?
There's no need to chance back to 2.5 for this matter, at least not for avi files. I managed to get an .srt file included by ONLY activating the radiobuttons of VFApi file reader and the DirectShow multimedia filereader in the input plug-in settings... if you can see the subtitles in WMPlayer than it should work in this way. Succes..
I found out how to import subtitles on a .mpg file also. (I created this file with VideoReDo from a VOB).
You can frameserve this file to TMPGenc with VirtualdubMPEG2 see here: http://www.gojiita.net/majinbuu/musicvideos/How2addSubtitlestoavideo.php
You must however not use the there linked Virtualdub, but VIRTUALDUBMPEG2. Further you can follow the exact directions of this protocol. You must activate ONLY the radiobutton before AVI-file reader in the input plug-in settings of TMPGenc. If you input the .vdr file you can see the subtitles. I did not yet Encode it, that I will try too. Alas, the titles are not as clear as with VObSub (small and on a nasty place in the window) Maybe SubTitle workshop can do something about it...
When converting WMV files to DVD using 3.0 Xpress, the file gets 99% done, then I receive the following error: Stream Reading Error Error Code 0x80048007. Have tried this on a couple of different files with identical result. Can anyone provide possible solution? Thanks
how did u encoded movies that you haven downloaded from the net.. see i have a dvd burner and i can't burn them into a dvd.. i know i need a encoder but i need the serial number to the TMPGEnc 3.0 and i have been looking and i can't find one ... please help me if u can.
Hello
I have 512 RAM en 1.5 ghz, yet it takes hours and hours (10 to 12) to convert avi files of appr. 150 minutes to mpeg2 format with TMPGEnc.
This can't be normal!
I've tried different settings on different sites, nothing changes.
I would estimate about 5-6 hours for a movie of that length using standard settings with your CPU.
To give you a guide TMPG encodes in real time using my PC running at 3.2GHZ with DDR ram, which would be 2.5 hours for this movie. Yours would be double that at least.
To speed up the process:
1. Do not use 2 pass
2. Do *NOT* use the 'Highest' quality setting for motion search precision (you will not see any benefit at all using this setting). If you are encoding for DVD then use 'Estimate'
3. Ensure all the optimizations are enabled for your CPU type in general settings.
4. Do not use any filters especially the 'Noise' filter.
5. Ensure your priorities are set right in the VFAPI plugins. Generally the 'Directshow file reader' should be top of the list.
The speed will also be dependent on the quality of the output you are encoding. If it is full resolution then that would decrease the speed also.
If you are still unhappy with the speed then I suggest you change encoder because TMPG focuses on quality not speed.
The fastest and best quality is CCE, but also the most expensive. However it will encode a 2 hour movie in 1 hour on my machine and takes a lot more knowledge to use.
The Mainconcept encoder also is pretty fast, just slightly slower than CCE, quality is very good if set up right and a lot cheaper than CCE.
Having said this I think TMPG offers more than any other encoder and produces excellant results if correctly used.
Non of the above encoders can touch TMPG for it's MPEG1 abilities and features.
How about a "plug-in" that replaces the "Chapter cut edit" and
the other "Edit" functions with the new Smart Rendering MPEG
Editor? Maybe at half the cost of the stand alone Editor? Or
maybe such a function could be like the AC-3 Encoder and if
you buy the stand alone Editor the Edit features of the DVD
Author would be updated.
I think this is only fair after you pulled the "Merge&Cut" from
the 3.0 Xpress.
I suggest everyone check out www.kvcd.net the site provides all the info needed to burn and create vcd that have optimal parameters and it is working out great for me so far.. thants TMPGEnc net..
Go to the Virtualdub installation folder then run 'AuxSetup.exe' then click the 'Install handler' button.
'OK' everything then exit. Restart your machine and then start the frame server again and try and load the .VDR into TMPG.
If it doesn't load into TMPG still then Go to Options>Enviromental settings>VFPAI plugins and raise the priority of the 'VFW reader' to 2 and ensure it is top of the list.
If you still have problems open another instance of Virtualdub and load the .VDR into that.
If it fails to load then the frame server client isn't installed correctly. I would then suggest trying the whole procedure again.
Try this:
Go to the Virtualdub installation folder then run 'AuxSetup.exe' then click the 'Install handler' button.
'OK' everything then exit. Restart your machine and then start the frame server again and try and load the .VDR into TMPG.
