Question - TE25 - 20 fps original movie No.31631
koox  2002-12-07 11:51:52 ( ID:8pmktmiulhn )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello! I wanted to widen the original "Minority Report" from 16:9 to 4:3.
The original video is 20fps (strange thing, I know) PAL. After tmpegenc reencoded this film, I've got strange stroboscopic effect. I think this effect produced tmpegenc, while trying to reencode as 25fps.

Anyway, I've stuck, and don't know what to do next. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Alexei.

ASHY  2002-12-07 12:37:47 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

If it's 20 fps then it's not really PAL. Pal is 25 fps. The effect you are talking about is called interlace lines. These can be removed by using the appropiate de-interlace filter in TMPG.
The next problem is the framerate. TMPG won't convert this to 25 fps correctly. The playback will be jerky as TMPG doesn't do correct framerate conversion.

AVIsynth can do a correct conversion if you know how to use it.

Thanks. I'm going to try Avisynth.
But still, DVD2Avi says it's 20fps PAL. And I've got no interlaced lines, only stroboscoping.

Thanks again.

What do u mean stroboscoping. Is it a combing effect on moving verticals?
These are called interlacing lines.

ASHY  2002-12-07 17:19:19 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

LOL...If the source is an original PAL DVD then DVD2AVI must be reporting the framerate incorrectly. There is no such thing as a 20fps PAL movie.

You probably have 'ForcedFILM' checked under Video>Field operation in DVD2AVI.
You should check 'None' for PAL films.

Question - TE25 - Will TMPGenc support the MS IEncoderAPI interface of directshow? No.31629
gne  2002-12-07 10:12:18 ( ID:9ri9acbc5oh )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi,

I want to use the MPEG-2 encoding functionality of TMPGenc
in the MS directshow framework.

Especially I want to use the MSVidCtrl component with built-in DVR
functionality. For doing this there must exist a IEncoderAPI compatible
encoder on the system.

see:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/directshow_sp1/htm/featuresoftheencoderapi.asp?frame=true

and

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/directshow_sp1/htm/usingthestreambufferenginewiththevideocontrol.asp?frame=true

Is there a plan to make the encoding functionality of TMPGenc available
to the MS directshow framework?

See also the thread in "DirectShow wrapper for tmpgenc available?"

best,

gne

Question - TE25 - D2V error No.31624
Chago  2002-12-07 07:06:22 ( ID:otnpmgwginf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

After ripping a dvd with Clad XP I tried to load the d2v into tmpgenc and I keep getting the error message d2v cannot open or unsupported. What does this mean. I ripped a different dvd and still got the same message

Chago

ASHY  2002-12-07 11:13:53 ( ID:4adzcnohuc. )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It means you havn't installed DVD2AVI properly. You need to ru it at least once to register it to VFAPI.

If that doesn't work copy this file DVD2AVI.VFP from your DVD2AVI folder and place in your TMPGenc directory.

ASHY

Chago  2002-12-07 15:05:14 ( ID:otnpmgwginf )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I ran it plenty of times, although this is the first time I have used it in several months. I tried your suggestion but I am still getting the same error. Does the basic (free) version has some time limitations? That, besides installing the new version of Windows Media Player is the only thing that I changed on this system recently.

ASHY  2002-12-07 17:23:32 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Oh dear. NOT Mediaplayer9? This is likely your problem.
This new version is causing many problems like this. Roll back your system using System restore.

Yeah, taht's right, Ashy The last Version of MediaPlayer i installed was the 6.4! All later Versions are junk and not really needed.

Question - TE25 - PAL to NTSC "*.dll missing" No.31620
Frustrated  2002-12-07 01:40:26 ( ID:klmba/ns9ur )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm trying to create a video using a two parts of a video. Part one is in PAL and part two is an MPEG1 Film. I'm trying to use this program to encode both into NTSC format to create one video on a single CD. From what I can gather of the documentation, it says it's supposed to encode "on the fly" but I get an error that says "can't load P3Package.dll" and have no clue what this means or how to fix. Can someone help?

noboffm  2002-12-07 10:33:29 ( ID:5ygxifykfug )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

hi, I have the same problem - and also no solution yet. could you pls inform me if you found help. thks from germany.

minion  2002-12-07 21:02:44 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The "P3P Package.dll" error is Caused usually because you don"t have ALL the Tmpgenc files in the same folder..All the files that come with Tmpgenc have to be in the same folder and not sitting on your desk top and one of those files has to be the "P3P Package.dll"...You can"t Use Tmpgenc to convert a Pal File into a Ntsc file or Ntsc to Pal ..Tmpgenc will not do a Proper Frame rate conversion from Pal to ntsc or Ntsc to Pal, If you try it with Tmpgenc the Playback of the resulting file will be Jumpy and Jerkey and won"t be watchable...

Marcody  2002-12-16 23:53:45 ( ID:slwaedfqlpw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I'm getting the same error...."Can't Load p3Package.dll
I unzipped everything into one file and I do not see this there.

Question - TE25 - HELP!! avi to NTSC DVD No.31617
monyong  2002-12-06 23:30:20 ( ID:csi6o2zwy6r )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Dont know what im doing wrong. My avi source is 23.976 fps. I use 3:2 pulldown on playback and 23.976fps(internally 29.976fps) . It play fine on PC and some standalone but is jerky and freezing on some Standalone. Anyone have a template for TMPGenc 2.59 that works for converting avi 23.976fps to DVD NTSC standard?
I have tried different authoring software, media(pioneer, Verbatim), burning program and get same results everytime. Its driving me crazy.

wcpaul  2002-12-07 00:32:50 ( ID:q7gr550x3gw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

It looks like there is something buggy in this area.

The same encode method, authored with Ulead DVD Workshop, plays fine on my two DVD players but the playing time counter runs 25% slow. Maybe some players are less tolerant of whatever is causing this.

It is also possible that bugs exist in most consumer authoring software because they are intended for less sophisticated uses.

monyong  2002-12-07 09:12:32 ( ID:csi6o2zwy6r )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I think it actually the way files is encoded. Cause if i let Ulead DVD Workshop encode for me it works fine on picky DVD player like PS2. But Ulead Encoding kinda sux. and you cant frameserve anything to it.

Question - TE25 - mpeg tools edit merge item No.31612
jetty  2002-12-06 21:33:33 ( ID:cai47j4msd6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello!
Amazing piece this TMPGenc, a long way to learn it throughfully.
Why Editr merge screen freezes at 5 minutes? I read somewhere that it's a know bug but at this forum it wa stated like there mustn't be any problems with preview window. Fact is that there is picture rather occasionally and only way to use edit and cut function is to enter the correct start and end times numbers manually... while at first number it jumps to the ... 4 minutes, let say and previews the still picture but when i add 30 minutes it doesn't jump anymore to preview this new location.

I run win98se at this computer and tempgenc lates version. I have tried, it the same problem on several computers. Is there something one can do about?

TIA
jetty

minion  2002-12-06 21:47:59 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

This could be because of the "Mpeg2 Decoder" you are useing...If you are useing the "Ligos" Decoder then try the "Cyberlink" Decoder and if you are useing the "Cyberlink" decpder then try the "Ligos" decoder...Or you can allways use a Different Mpeg editor...

jetty  2002-12-06 22:49:02 ( ID:cai47j4msd6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hello!

Thanks for comments.
I assume that when i remove the codec on VFAPI by unchecking and setting prioprity from 1 to 0 I remove one. But playing with Ligos one or with Cyberlink one doesn't change the edit Window behaviour.
Is there any other mpeg2 decoders to use?
How to plug in there anything to VFAPI plug-in list?
I'm working with mpeg 2 streams for DVD authoring.

jetty

minion  2002-12-07 20:57:46 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Well if you can"t get the decoders to read the file better then maybe you should try useing a different Mpeg editor....

Hi, new to all this, but I have a problem, I have a file which is audio format mpeg layer-3, and videodivxmpg4 v3, I can encode the video to vcd but not the audio, it is silent. how do I convert the audio to a usable format? I run winxp

tks

minion  2002-12-06 21:42:07 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Load the AVI file into "Virtual Dub" then go to "save Wave" and it will save the audio as a Wav file, then you use this as the audio source...

Xenomichael  2002-12-07 11:36:41 ( ID:lilcnhjltvk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi, I have the same problem for the audio. I conversed the audio file into a wave file, and conversed the avi file into mpeg. But when the video file blocks for a quarter seconde or less, the audio file continues playing wich creates an audio gap.
How can I resolve the problem??

Question - TE25 - Automatic pictures fade from black, beginning and end No.31601
AdamB  2002-12-06 16:46:18 ( ID:zugpps8wgz2 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I have a series of AVI files I wish to convert to MPEG1, however I need to include half a second fades from black at the start of the mpeg, and half a second fades to black at the end. I really don't want to have to take the avi into a third party program, and knowing TMPGEnc can fade the audio in and out, wondered if it is at all possible to do this with the picture.

wcpaul  2002-12-06 17:54:42 ( ID:q7gr550x3gw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Avisynth (www.avisynth.org) is what you want.

It is a scripting language that can directly frameserve to TMPG and has a fade In/Out function (fadeIO). Basically, you write a simple text command script and just load that into TMPG instead of the AVI file.

I believe a plugin called readavs.dll needs to be installed manually in the TMPG folder (or maybe that is built in now).

Getting avisynth set up the first time can be tricky but once it is, you have access to a powerful functionality.

wcpaul  2002-12-06 18:00:48 ( ID:q7gr550x3gw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Go the the "Project Page" on www.avisynth.org for the install of the latest version (2.0.x) with fadeIO. Older version don't have that function.

wcpaul  2002-12-06 18:39:31 ( ID:q7gr550x3gw )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

VERY COOL!!

The new version of avisynth installs so that any media program can read the file without conversions and plugins. Just drag/drop or select "All Files" when browsing.

ASHY  2002-12-07 12:32:00 ( ID:n3gjkhi6dvc )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

There is another way using Virtualdub, using the fade filter. Just set the frame number points you wish to fade then frameserve to TMPG.

ASHY
