Question - TE25 - how do you get the quality to be better?? No.30412
Mya  2002-11-08 18:19:06 ( ID:2lx3p27u3wg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

i realize that after i convert some of my avi or asf files into mpeg with this tmgenc thing... it makes the quality worse... i'm using nero to burn also and my nero only takes mpeg files... is there a way that i can get the quality to be better???

Minion  2002-11-08 21:48:37 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

The Quality will ALLWAYS get worse after Encodeing...Encodeing is Compressing the data and there is ALLWAYS some loss through compression..The way to increase the Quality is to increase the "Bitrate"..More bitrate Less Compression better Quality...Usually if you are doing VCD"s and you raise the bitrate to say 1650KBS you will greatly increase the Quality and still get 60 Minutes on a CD-R...

Question - TE25 - AVI2MPG1 no sound, but can hear the sound in audio stream settings No.30410
gunzie  2002-11-08 17:52:43 ( ID:lilcnhjltvk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi,

I to have a sound problem when converting from AVI to MPEG-1 (no sound), but when I go to the audio stream settings tab, and use audio edit player, the sound *does* play...what could be wrong? Using a separate wav file seems inconvenient if the sound can be recognized in TMPGENC.
Any suggestions, other then creating a separate audio file?

Regards, Gunzie.

The sound is choppy when i play back. can i solves this and if so how

Minion  2002-11-08 21:45:06 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Is the sound choppy when playing on your Computer or on your DVD Player???If the audio is Choppy on your computer then Extract the audio from the source AVI file to wav with Virtual Dub and use something like "Headac3he" to encode it to MP2 then Mux the new audio to the Mpeg1 video..But if it only happens on your DVD Player then that can be caused by haveing the Bitrate to high but that shouldn"t happen with Normal VCD"s...

cb02  2002-11-08 11:30:04 ( ID:pg5arttsmx6 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi,
I have an .avi file that i want to put on VCD but whanever i browse to the source file in TMPGEnc the sound is left blank and the resultant .mpeg contains no sound. Does anyone know why this is happening ?

Tomo  2002-11-08 17:55:35 ( ID:nsbkh5almbg )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

first of all u need to extract the audio from the avi movie using a program called "virtualdub" look for it on google....run virtualdub then open video file ... then go to file an click ...save as wav and it will extract the audio file from the movie.then load yer movie in tmpg an the extracted audio seperatly.then encode as normal :)

Kimchoc  2002-11-08 21:02:25 ( ID:kljzoo9cb22 )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

I've never had to do that. Just load the file in the project manager and it will do the audio and the video from the same .avi file and give you one nice .mpg. never had to use V-dub.

Minion  2002-11-08 21:42:05 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You haven"t had to do it Cuz you have never used a NON-Compatible Audio format...Tmpgenc Does not encode all Formats and has problem with some Compressed formats like "VBR MP3" and "AC3"...and I"m sure "CB02" tried it your way and that is why they got no audio...

hi... i just have a question... how come the mpeg files that i download i can't burn with nero???? it's weird because i can burn mpeg stuff on nero if i convert it with tmpgenc, but if i was to download something that's already mpeg i can't burn it... can someone help understand this???

Minion  2002-11-08 21:38:55 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Cuz there is a Differance between Mpeg1/2 and VCD/SVCD..SVCD/VCD"s have a certain Type of header on the file so your DVD Player can read it properly and a Mpeg1/2 file doesn"t have this type of header...But you don"t Nescessarily have to re-encode the file ,you should be able to get away with just putting the correct header on the file, that is if the file is otherwize VCD/SVCD Compliant(proper bitrate and resolution and audio), so if you have say a "Mpeg1" file that is 352+240 But nero says it isn"t compliant then you can probably get it to burn if you open up Tmpgenc then go to "File" to "Mpeg Tools" to "Simple Multiplex" or "Merge & Cut" then load in the file and choose "Video-CD Non-Standard" from the dropdown menu and choose the output directory then click "Run"..This will make a Exact copy of the file but this copy will have a VCD header on the file that Nero should burn without a problem..You can do the same thing with Mpeg2 file that are otherwize SVCD compliant But choose the "SVCD" setting in the dropdown menu...

Question - TE25 - Convert and burning with Nero. No.30400
Robin  2002-11-08 07:44:52 ( ID:d.z2bgmtbrk )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi. I´ve tried to convert divx and Avi, which I am now able to do, after reading earlier notes here. But there is a slight problem when I try to burn with Nero, as SVCD, Nero tells me that its not SVCD-format and Nero has to encode it. ??? To be able to convert I changed envirolmental setting, VFAPI-plugin and direct show to 1 or 2. So everything seems to be working fine.....exept the burning. What am I doing wrong ?????

Minion  2002-11-08 21:30:38 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

There are a Few criteria for SVCD compliance..The resolution has to be 480+480, the Bitrate has to be 2520KBS or less, the audio has to be Mpeg layer 2 at 44100hz and between 128-224KBS, and the file has to be encoded as a SVCD not a Mpeg2, meaning there has to be a SVCD header on the file..Any of these things are off then nero will say it isn"t compliant. The older versions of nero would tell you exactly why it is compliant But not any more...If you used the standard SVCD Template then you shouldn"t have a Problem with Compliance...If you happened to edit the file before burning then you might have used the wrong setting in the "Merge & Cut", you have to use the "SVCD" Setting not the Mpeg2 setting.....I hope this helps...If it still gives you an error and you think you did everything right then just burn it anyways and see if it plays, or try burning it on a CD-RW so you don"t waste the disk if it doesn"t work....

I have a 1.4 GHz AMD Athlon Processor with 640MB of RAM and a 32MB video card running on Window XP Pro. I have tried every mpeg encoder I can find and every time I attempt to convert an .avi file to an .mpg file my computer crashes about 5 min. into the conversion. Does anyone have any clue what this could be?

Question - TE25 - 24 minute file takes up whole CD??? No.30392
Bobsolo  2002-11-07 22:33:42 ( ID:t4mpyzzbaql )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

While trying to convert Chobits - 04, tmpgenc stated that the file would take up a whole VCD, and when i tried to convert it, errors popped up every 5 seconds. Is this a problem with my file, or an incompatability?

Minion  2002-11-08 01:15:17 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

This is most likely a problem with the file...It is common with Downloaded files...Don"t trust what Tmpgenc says about file size ..Use a Bitrate Calculator to determine file size ...

Bobsolo10  2002-11-08 22:18:10 ( ID:t4mpyzzbaql )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

So I cant run this file thru TMPG then?

Minion  2002-11-08 23:31:49 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You Might be able to ...Try Frameserveing it with Virtual Dub, this could work...

Question - TE25 - Extreme large Files croped at end No.30390
Atomic1  2002-11-07 19:42:12 ( ID:.8a9ycwncar )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

Hi
I have ripped a DVD to create a SVCD Backup of it.
I ripped the Video and two Audio streams and demuxed them to single files.
The duration of the Videostream is 114 min. and the resulting File ist 3.99GB (4.194.304 kb) large.
If i encode the file to MPEG-2 VBR the movie is chopped at the end.
So the last 10 min. of the movie missing.

Is there a limitation in source file size ?

Another probleme is that it takes very long to open the source file.
It seems that TMPGEnc scans the whole file. Is it possible to accelerate this ?

Thx Atomic

Minion  2002-11-07 21:33:01 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You are haveing problems Because you aren"t doing it properly..You never load the VOB/M2V files ripped from the DVD Directly into Tmpgenc...The proper way involves Ripping the VOB files to your Drive then use "DVD2AVI" to make a D2V project File and Wav audio files, then you load the D2V file in for Video and the wav file in for Audio then encode to SVCD but you don"t load the vob"s into Tmpgenc Cuz it will Just Cause Problems and the Encodeing Can take Much Much Much longer that way...There are tutorials on the proper way to make SVCD"s for DVD"s at "http://www.vcdhelp.com/

How can i convert the rm-videos from the Real-Player to the mpg-format?
if i want to load the file with tmpeg it says: "fle can not open or unsopported"

Minion  2002-11-07 21:27:28 ( ID:w8yn5mktf8w )   [ Delete / Reply with quotation ]

You Can"t...Not with Tmpgenc anyway or pretty much any program...You would need to convert the RM file to AVI first with something like "Tinra" or "EO-Video".......

Hello I am using miniDV from Sony TRV900. I am using TMPGEncPlus. In the Video source window, what does the 4:3 525line (NTSC, 704 x 480)
setting apply to? (as opposed to just the 525 line)
Does the Video Arrange Method setting have anything to do with the amount of TV overscan (title safe, videosafe area) ?
Are there any good tutorials online?(especially the Reverse Telecine tab) Thanks!
